Vector File Looks Jumpy

Hello,
I am using a vector file for an animation and I am having a problem with it looking jumpy.  The vector is being continuously rasterized, it is somewhat thin and it is doing a very slow rotation on the y axis.  When I render, the lines on the vector seem to shift around as it spins making it look like it's jumping slightly.  I'm sure this is an aliasing issue, but I'm not quite sure how to fix it.
Any ideas?

To increase apparent aliasing duplicate the layer, add a bit of blur to the bottom layer and experiment with blend modes. I find multiply to work well.
To decrease judder or flickering edges on a move you may have to adjust the timing or the move or modify the motion path. See this article from the Forum FAQ.
Sometimes there is no other option than a slight re-design of the animated artwork. I have done this for some very large companies that have logo's that simply do not work for video. Ad agencies understand the problems and can usualy approve the modifications in behalf of the client. Clients have to be gently educated. The ones that won't budge end up with logos that don't look as good as they should and you will take the blame. That's just the way it is.

  • Vector Files Look Bitmapped

Ok, so I've opened a year old file with some character
animations I created for an adult swim webseries. I need the files
to create a website for the particular show. When I open the .FLA
files, everything looks great. But when I copy specific elements to
past into a new .FLA document, the elements look like a bitmapped
image, or maybe like a tiny vector image that only zooms so far.
Not sure what's going on. The elements look great in their original
documents. Anyone run in to this issue?
    Thanks!

    >  I mean when I scale the text up it doesn't get affected, just when I zoom.
That's not actually a problem. That's normal. When you scale a layer with continuous rasterization, the vector information is converted into a new set of pixels to make things sharp. When you just zoom in a preview, you're not actually changing any pixels in the composition; you're just zooming in on the existing pixels for a closer look.
    from After Effects Help:
"Note: After Effects renders vector objects before zooming (scaling for preview), so some vector objects may appear jagged when you zoom in on them. This apparent pixelation for zooms does not affect scaling of layers or rendering to final output. "

  • Illustrator vector files look blurred when zoomed on in in AE

I just have text from a illustrator file, imported in to after after effects. When I scale the text, the quality isn't affect, but when i zoom in, the text is blurred, I have the continuously rasterize box clicked, and it's still blurred.
How can I fix this problem? Thanks

  • Objects look like bitmaps when importing vector files

    Hello,
I am absolute beginner with ID CS5. I am going trough a bunch of tutorials, and there is one thing I cannot solve.
When I am importing vector file content (Illustrator CS5 file with vector objects - strokes) into InDesign frame,
imported object looks like low resolution bitmap. What am I doing wrong? Is there any option I should enable or disable
to have imported objects in vector format?
    Thanks in advance for answers,
    Best Regards,
    Mi

Yup! Try View -> Display Performace -> High Quality. InDesign substitutes low-res previews when you're in Standard display mode. (And ID tends to run a great deal faster when it's not rendering print-res images, so you're probably best off working in Standard mode unless you have a monster of a desktop machine, or unless your work requires that you see the high-res image while you're doing other tasks in ID.)

  • Separating an image from a vector file in illustrator

I cannot figure out how to separate a graphic from a a vector file I purchased on Shutter Stock which has a bunch of graphics in the file used for design.  The file has layers, and I have tried to select just one of the layers to copy and paste into a new AI file, but it doesn't work.  Nothing seems to be grouped together, and I have no idea how to tell if there is a compound path or not.
I need to separate all the images and then resize them as well.  Then I want to export to a jpeg file so that I can use in photoshop and/or publisher.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have been looking online for help for days, and I cannot find anything that will help me.
    Thanks,

  • Playback on dvd looks jumpy

i have composed a project using dvd studio pro and am having problems with a clip on the formated disc.
the clip looks jumpy and or with highly visual interlaceing issues. when i previewed the project with in dvd sp the the clip looks fine. as well as the compiled video ts folder all look good. the problems only show up on the burned disc. i have already used compressor to to create the mpeg file at a high bit rate elimanating the need for dvd sp to do the encoding. when i run the build, all the final vob files look good. i have tested the media in vlc and apples dvd player, non show the problem before i burn. i have gone as far as rebuilding the project in IMOVIE and still have the same jumpy problems on the one file. the source for all the media have come from other dvds, yet only one file shows this issue.
i have read on the forums that users have had similar issues with the menu clip, but the clip is not part of the menu. the button is last on the menu screen but the vob file shows up as 3 in the video ts folder.
any help would greatly be appreciated
macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

"used compressor to to create the mpeg file at a high bit rate" - Maybe your bit rate is too high. DVD players can sometimes choke if the bitrate is too high. A computer can usually handle it which could be why it only happens in the DVD player.
The first thing to try is to use AC3 audio if you're not already, which will reduce the overall DVD bitrate. In compressor 2.0, I believe the preset is Dolby 2.0.
If that doesn't work, then try recompressing that clip using a lower video bitrate.

Thanks. I might use it soon...
Does it automatically make folders named after the volume labels? And does it handle the conversion of spaces and non-alphanumeric characters to octal codes?
I could read the script but it would be faster for everyone reading, if you leave the answer as a reply.
I also think that there should be some major work done on modernizing the fstab, either by replacing it with a better implementation of file system mounting or changing the file structure and adding in better handling of non-alphanumerics. I don't want to have to look up a stupid octal table every time I type in my labels.

  • Motion 3 and animating vector files using match move

I'm having trouble animating a vector file using MatchMove. The problem is the vector file (Ai file exported as PDF and imported into Motion3) becomes rasterized when is moves. I have Fixed resolution unchecked and i changed the Pixel Aspect Ratio to NTSC from Square. Nothing seems to help. I even recreated the vectore file in Motion using the bezier tool and got the same results. What am I doing wrong on this?

Could you post the project with your Motion shape? I don't have a problem using the Match Move behavior with vector graphics.
Is the vector graphic in it's own group? Does that group have a box around the status icon in the name? If it does, then the group is being rasterized for some reason.
You can look through the groups parameters to find the one that has a blue dot next to it. This will be the parameter causing the rasterization.
That's the only thing I can think of right now that could be causing your problem.

  • Help - making a movie and the file is jumpy

I'm making a slideshow to show a group of 50 students tonight. I've never had this issue with iMovie before. I have iMovie '11 and OS Lion. The file is like it has scratch marks that appear at various times, whether it's a transition or just displaying a picture.
It's not the end of the world because the file will still play, but it's noticeable that the file is jumpy/glitchy (sorry I don't have a better technical way of describing this).
I have exporting as a quicktime file, it's still there, watched it on other macs and pcs, still there.
Any help would be great. Need to show this tonight!

    What do you mean missing?
It downloaded?  It was on your computer?  It then disappeared?

  • Vector file - newb question

After reading the user manual, I still don't understand how this works. Let's say I use Adobe Illustrator to draw a picture of sayyyyyyyy.......a kitty. Is there any possible way to take my kitty picture, export it out of illustrator as a vector file and import it into Motion so that motion can scale that image more or less indefinitely and maintain the crystal clear image no matter what the size. Like, can I zoom in on kitty's eyeball in Motion and still have the image look good?
Sorry for the newbie question but I just have not worked with vector images much. Thanks for any help.

The answer is yes. All you do is save the file as .ai or .pdf, bring it into Motion, and turn off fixed resolution for the underlying media (import the file to the Canvas, select it in the Media tab of the Project Pane, select the Media tab of the Inspector, and uncheck Fixed Resolution). You can now scale it as large as you wish with no loss of resolution.

  • Motion 3: Layerlink, layered vector files

    Hi,
It looks like some of you folks allready got their copies of FCS 2.
    So my question is:
Does Motion 3 support layered vector files (PDF or Illustrator)?
Can vector layers be imported in the same fashion as PSD layers are imported in Motion 2?
If not, does the Layerlink plugin still work in Motion 3?
    Thanks,
    Michal

Unfortunately the answer to both questions are no. Hopefully we shall see a layerlink update shortly.

  • Viewing vector files in Adobe Bridge

I currently us "Art Expolsion" for vector files.  I use to be able to view the actual thumbnail images in Bridge, but all I see now is the Icon.  How can I change the view so I can see the actual image instead of open them one up at a time?

You should be able to see a small low res thumb, to see the whole art in high res, save your file with the option "pdf compatible"

  • Why do all the white colours in my animated GIF files look grey?

Why have all the white colours in my GIF files look grey? It is only apparant once published, and can change from browser to browser? (firefox tends to work, but not chrome)
They should have white backgrounds. I have played with just about every setting when exporting the GIF in photoshop. And seems to work fine.
But when published through muse it's grey??
