Vector shapes not backwards compatible?

Hello,
I work in an office where some people are on differnt versions of Photoshop while I am using CC. When I create vector objects and save them in a file they sometimes show up as all black in older versions of photoshop. Is there a process that I can use that will get around this issue? These files are passed back and forth and I understand that I may loose the ability to use some of the newer features with CC in order to avoid issues. But I need to use the vector options on a daily basis.
I see another issue that people are running into that I also deal with alot and that is the crop tool adjustments. When you use the crop tool it sometimes makes the vectors all out of wack.
Any help is apreciated!
Thank you,
Andrew H

You have your compatibilities backwards. Older versions are not forward compatible for newer features are not in older versions of Photoshop so compatibility is not possible.   Newer versions of Photoshop for the most part are backwards compatible with older versions of Photoshop. However Adobe drops the ball at times. Since CS4 Photoshop is not fully backwards compatible in fact Photoshop CS4 and newer are not fully compatible with themselves.  There are bugs and compatibility issues with options in the adjustment panels fly-out menu.  Option in it can change Photoshop default operation which not only makes it not backwards compatible they make some feature  in the current version work in an inconsistent manner.  The code implementing these options  are not without their bug. Photoshop does not always operate the way the options are set.

    Hello,
You are correct, Blue tooth low engergy, BTLE.(only) devices are not backward compatible with Classic bluetooth and cannot connect.
However the Apple 4S and above have Bluetooth 4.0 support.. Hardware wise it has bothClassic Bluetooth, like the 3GS, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy.  There is no good reason why your 4s cannot communicate to your Sony in-dash player using the Classic bluetooth that resides in the 4S.
I know that this does not answer the why it does not work, but it should work. Do you have to somehow re-pair the new phone up to the player?  Not  knowing the model of the Sony it is hard to investigate.
And I hate to ask but are you sure that the Bluetooth radio is on in the phone?

  • Edge Animate 2014.1 not backwards compatible to 2014.0 documents

This is a request to Adobe:
Minor version revisions should not cause project incompatibilities in .an project files!
The update to 2014.1 Edge Animate (October 2014) causes trouble in lab settings. My students using 2014.1 on their personal machines cannot open their work on 2014.0. All of our lab computers have 2014.0 installed. I can understand major revision incompatibilities, but minor revisions should be bug fixes and simple updates and should not affect projects created *yesterday*.
This is endlessly frustrating, because we have to call upon our staff tech support any time a minor bug fix is put into place with CC.
In terms of addressing this issue, how might someone go about updating a .an project file to be backwards-compatible? In Edge Animate, no option exists to save backwards.
Thanks for any help on this issue.

Composition created withe Edge 2014.1 is not backward compatible with  Edge 2014.0.  More info
Changing the minimumCompatibleVersion will have undesirable side effects.
For sharing with others you can create the composition in 2014.0  itself.
FYI: You can install both Edge 2014.0  and Edge 2014.1 side by side on the same machine.

  • XCelsius 2008 is not backward compatible with ver 4.5

I tried opening a project that was done with ver 4.5 but it just said that "Crystal Xcelsius is unable to load this file. This file may be corrupt or may have features that cannot be supported by this version of Crystal Xcelsius." So i guess I probably have to recreate the project in the 2008 version to take advantage of the new features available. So I imported the excel datasheet used in the old project to a new project in Xcelsius 2008 and tried recreating the objects from scratch. I had started with an accordion menu and two list boxes and then I decided to export to swf to test. However, the result was disappointing. I could only see the two list boxes but not the accordion menu. There was a message saying "Initializing..." that stayed. Does this mean I have to recreate the excel data from scratch as well?

X2008 is backward compatible with CX4.5.  But Jim is correct. There is a bug in X2008 which prevents it from opening some 4.5 models by double-clicking on the filename.  They can be opened from the File > Open menu.  This only affects opening the model.Due to the many changes between CX4.5 and X2008, the migration of old CX4.5 models is not clean.  Differences will be seen.  Most are cosmetic affecting only the look of the model.  But some tidy up, color changes and re-alignment work must be done.   There was no way to gain the benefits of X2008 and still keep CX4.5 models unchanged.Andy

  • MouseClick trough a vector shape not working when there is a bitmap below it?

Hello, I got something strange going on.
I have one class called Person that extends a Sprite.
First i have a bitmap that i add to the sprite class:
This bitmap is a transparent PNG.
    addChild(_imageBitmap);
then i did some drawing in Flash that has the shape of this person and extended this to
the SimpleButton. This way, only the edge or the inner shape is clickable.
then i add this shape to this Person class too.
    addChild(_personShape);
This way, the shape is on top of the bitmap.
Now i have an clickable item behind this person. This item is visible because it  is in the
transparent area of the bitmap and shape.
This clickable item does not respond on the mouse click! Only when i disabel the imageBitmap
(I tried uncomment the line addChild(_imageBitmap) and then it works just fine!
This means that the bitmap is causing the problem to get a click trough.
Is there a propertie for a bitmap like MouseChildren = false? or something else to make use
of a click trough within a shape?
    Regards,
    Chris.

    Hello Ned,
Thanks for the advise, but i already tried the mouseChildren properties.
The bitmap has no property mouseChildren, so i created a new Container (sprite) and added
this bitmap to it and set the mouseChildren property to it. and the MouseEnabled too, but nothing happend differently.
The strange thing of this, is the fact that the rollOver and the RollOut item behind the bitmap image works just fine.
It has probably something to do with the fact that the clickable item is an displayObject3D (Papervision)
But what i also don't understand is when i don't use this bitmap, and only the vector shape it works just fine.
So i did a little trick, i did a break apart from he image and cut out the shape of the person with the lasso tool.
And i replaced this with the image shape and now it works.
    Regards,
    Chris.

  • CC Apps NOT Backward compatible with Master Collection 6.0...WHY NOT?!!!!

This is just horse doodoo. Adobe, you've already got us hooked and paying out the nose, so WHY do I have to save all of my files in an OLDER version (InDesign, for instance) when I'm working on them in Creative Cloud just so I can be able to open them with my MasterCollection6 I paid $3000+ for?
I should NEVER see the message: "Cannot save because file was created with a newer version Creative Cloud..." when I am working with your latest NON-MONTHLY CS6 Master Collection Apps. It is a pain in the a$$ and slows down our workflow.
PLEASE, either give your loyal Master Collection 6 customers updates that make our Apps compatible with Creative Cloud, or start making Creative Cloud Apps backward compatible with our 6.xx version!
Stop trying to hold us hostage with your plans to monthly-revenue everything we already paid thousands for, please!
    Sincerely pisT,
    Small Business Owner

New features in new software does sometimes mean that new files do not open in old software
Microsoft also does this... the new DOCX documents will not open in the old Word 97 (and, in fact, I had to buy MS Office 2003 because MS Office 97 would not even install and run on Windows 7)

  • Postgres update is not backwards compatible

    Hi all,
the 8.4 postgresql server updated recently isn't backwards compatible, it refuses to read the old database files. Basically I have wasted 2 hours of my life because arch happily upgraded postgres without saying anything.  If I knew this beforehand I could just dump the database and restore the dump into 8.4. The problematic vim or php upgrades were at least announced on the arch news feed..
Anyway my personal opinion is that a news feed isn't good enough.
I'm wondering if we could have a functionality in pacman giving information about updates that would break a live server without user interaction, and asking for confirmation to proceed.

phaul wrote:the 8.4 postgresql server updated recently isn't backwards compatible, it refuses to read the old database files.
None of the PostgreSQL major upgrades (ie, 8.2 -> 8.3 -> 8.4) can read the databases from other versions. They always require a full dump and restore of your databases. This is stated in the PostgreSQL documentation under "Upgrading":
    http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.4/inte … ading.html
phaul wrote:Basically I have wasted 2 hours of my life because arch happily upgraded postgres without saying anything.
Pacman is a package manager, not a system administrator.

If you're going to run software that is seemingly so important to your operations, then you should familiarize yourself with the software in question, not just rely on pacman (a package manager) to take care of it for you. At the very least, add 'postgresql' to the 'IgnorePkg' list in pacman.conf so it won't be upgraded until you force an upgrade.

Why do you do this... My mac is old pro running Version 10.6.8 and now I cant up load the creative cloud desk top app without updating the OS. Why cant these apps be backward compatible? I am perfectly happy with V 10.6.8 and my old pro..

  • XML C v2 is not backward compatible with 8.1.5 o NT

I have Oracle8i (8.1.5) installed on Windows NT. And the XML C parser v2 I got contain oracore8.dll & oranls8.dll (8.1.6). Somehow these two DLLs does not work with my 8.1.5 environment since I was not able to connect to DB once I used these DLLs.
I need the Oracle environment because I need to process other code apges other that US-ASCII.

We plan to have the XML Parser in a separate dll in the future so it can be dropped in to an existing Oracle Home.

  • Mail mbox not backward compatible???

I want to back up my Mail files to another iBook which runs an older version of os-x but the older version of Mail does not display the imported messages.
    Main computer is a G4 with os-x 10.4.3 and Mail 2.0.7
    Backup computer is a G3 with os-x 10.3.9 and Mail 1.3.1
I am using the usual Firewire transfer hookup, with the G3 powered up and the G4 the slave computer.
Mail 1.3.1 absolutely refuses to properly import the version 2.0.7 mbox files. All my message folders are there on the G3 after importing but they have no contents in them. All the 20 or so message folders are completely blank.
Any advice as to what to try next? Thanks.

The change in mail format was at least in part due to the requirements of Spotlight to make searching of individual messages possible.
It is probably safer than the previous versions of mail in that each mail message is stored as a separate .emlx, as opposed to a segment of one mega .mbox. If an .emlx file gets corrupted, you might lose that one message. If your old .mbox file got corrupted, you might lose all of your email.

              if(bundle!=null)
                   cache.put(id, bundle);
              return bundle;
}I pack the resource bundel in the same jar as the class files.
    For example class tjerk.javamath.JavaMath
    loads an resourcebundle using:
    I18nUtil.getResourceBundle(this.getClass(), "bundle");
the bundle is than in the 'jar folder /tjerk/javamath
with filename bundle.properties, or bundle_nl.properties, depending on the locale

Should i report this as a bug.
There should be no compability error , check http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/compatibility.html.
But the same code does run in JRE 1.4.2 and not in 1.5.0!!

  • Backwards Compatible

I hired a foreign company to build an iPhone application for me. They sent me the completed project, and I did the build for distribution. I just found out that my app is not backwards compatible. Is this something I can change when I do the build. If so, what do I have to change? I'm worried that changing anything will throw off the rest of the project. Please advise.

The company that you hired has an obligation to answer this question for you. Briefly, the project can be built for a lower OS version by selecting another SDK from the drop down list in the upper left corner of any Xcode window, or by selecting Project->Set Active SDK from the top menu. However this won't work if the project uses any features that were upgraded or added since the lower OS, and you won't necessarily know if that's the case without a full test cycle. This should have been discussed with the programmers, and they're the only ones who can give you a definitive answer.

  • Is LR6 backward compatible?

I upgraded to LR6 as soon as the option was available, and it seems to be a nifty upgrade indeed. However, when I exported a catalog and e-mailed it to one of my editing team they couldn't open it using LR5. Does anyone know of a way I can export LR5-compatible catalogs? Or is there a way to open LR6 catalogs using 5?

No it is not backward compatible—LR5 would have no idea about face tags, among other things and there’s no way to export a LR5-catalog from LR6.  I’d guess Adobe is expecting everyone who wants to share catalog to upgrade.
If upgrading is not possible, and your editor is doing Develop module things, then what you can do is share XMP files.  Right-click on a group of selected images or on a folder and choose Save Metadata to Files (or update the DNGs if you’re using those), then zip up all the XMP files and send those to your editor (along with the images) and have them do what they do, then send just the XMP files back, and you can select the same set of images or their folder and do a Read Metadata from Files to update your catalog with their edits.
If you’re editor is merely flagging and tagging then XMP files won’t help since they don’t store all the metadata, I don’t think. However if they are doing Develop settings, then XMP files might work.

  • JWS not backward JNLP compatible?

Unsupported JNLP version in launch file 0.2. Only version 1.0 is supported with this version.
If I upgrade JWS then I can't run any of my older JNLP files nor any of the older JNLP files out on the internet. This is absurd. So if I update my JNLP files then I have to run around to all my users and upgrade their JWS. Reason enough for me not to use JWS.

version 0.2 was an early pre-release of Java web Start (then called jnet) from before the jnlp specification was ever finalized. There is no way to be backward compatible with a format from before the first released version. There are only 2 real versions of the jnlp specification, "1.0" (of which "1.0.1" is a flavor) and "1.5".
"1.5" is completely backward compatible with "1.0" .
Any app written to run on 1.0 will work fine with a 1.5 implementation.
Any app written to run on 1.5, can be made to also run on 1.0 implementations, simply by specifying jnlp spec="1.0+". The new elements in the 1.5. jnlp file format will not cause any problem when run in an implementation of the 1.0 spec, they will just not be there.
If a developer chooses to, he can specify <jnlp spec="1.5+" ...
This is saying he will not allow his application to run on any system without 1.5 or later implementation of JNLP. This is the developers choice.
When this happens Java Web Start should prompt the user to download a conforming implementation, such as jre 5.0, but as of yet Java Web Start dosn't have that capability.
Whats worse, it is not the new version of Java Web Start that needs this new functionality, but the old one. to that end there is a project underway for mustang, including the rfe: 6198919 - Deployment Browser Control, to allow web pages to query the existing jres on the client and branch to download new jre is necessary.
