Vector XTras don't load for Windows

I am attempting to save out projectors for both Mac and
Windows. I have some vector shapes in the movies.
The Projector for Mac includes the Xtras just fine, but I get
errors while saving the Windows projector. I thought maybe they
were "fake" errors, but when playing back on Windows, I get the red
Xs and and the error messages. I am including the vector edit xtra
as well as Flash xtra.

Thinking about this some more I'm guessing that when you
publish the
Windows projector from your Mac its not finding the Flash
Asset xtra to
include, or not the correct version.
I don't know where xtras for the "other" platform go on a
Mac, but for
the Windows version of Director they are in a sub-folder of
the
application folder located at COnfiguration\Cross Platform

You could check the same folder on your Mac and make sure
that the
Windows xtra is there, and that it's the same version as the
Mac xtra

Just having the same issue there, which is real not fun, I have not tried to contact them, but looking at your experience I am not sure if I should.
My key comes from the back of a laptop o so I guess that would be a W7
OEM, and that could explain why you can't download a ISO from their website, would that also your case ?
Also could it be because we are attempting to get the ISO after the product became EOL ?

Boot Camp drivers don't always load (for Windows 7)?

Recently, I backed up my Windows 7 Boot Camp partition with Carbon Copy Cleaner before realizing that it would not be a bootable backup. Well, after some fiddling around, I made it bootable again (with the help of iPartition) and it generally works well.
However, for some reason, sometimes when I boot into Windows 7, it appears that some drivers don't work properly about half the time. For instance, if I load a game, the game will not be full screen and will instead be the exact dimensions that is specified (my display is 1920 x 1080; if the game is set to 1280 x 720, then it won't stretch to full screen but instead appear at that size). As I said, this happens about half the time.
Also, I use MacDrive so I can write to Mac partitions, and when these display problems occur, then MacDrive will also show an error saying that it needs to be repaired.
All of this can be fixed with a restart, but after restarting, my two displays will be duplicated instead of extended.
It appears that the display drivers (and perhaps a few things, related to MacDrive) don't seem to be loading properly at all times? For some reason, I can seem to fix this if, when in Mac, I quit all applications first before booting up Boot Camp. I don't know how they could be related, but it so far seems that way.

I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1, but it reset my custom lock screen image. I tried re-applying it but the lock screen preview in the settings is stuck on a load loop. Does anyone know why that is and why it won't set my custom image as the

I've experienced the same issue and it disappeared after doing some weird steps.
First about the problem:
I have Surface Pro tablet, updated to Windows 8.1 many months ago. However yesterday this issue happened for the first time (not sure what triggered it) and continued today as well, even after restarting:
- Charms bar > Settings > Personalize. Click on background color or Accent color palette to try to change color: the pane and Start menu behind freezes and doesn't react on anything except for pressing Windows button on tablet, that throws back to
desktop. But when you return to that menu it appears the color has been changed after all (as much as could have been done in one click before it froze).
- Can't change lock screen: I didn't move the image selected there and previous images, they are still located at the same folder. But after selecting an image loading wheel spins and image never updates.
Fix:
After reading here that this replicates with account picture for some people, I wanted to check this on my tablet as well. My account picture shown the current image and 2 previous images to the right. When clicking first of those, nothing changed. When
clicking on the second one it shown the image from the first selected as account picture, and vice versa - when clicking on the first again it shown the second pic selected as account picture. After browsing and selecting other image, it didn't update in account
picture, but after going out from the menu and back again it appeared that the account image updated after all.
After that all started working normal again - can select account picture, change lock screen and personalize without problems. Weird, but it worked.

Bluetooth drivers don't exist for Windows 7

Hey Guys,
I have an issue. I've had a Mac book Pro for about a month now and it's great, except for the fact that Bluetooth doesn't work.
I'm trying to connect to the internet using my iPhone through Bluetooth. Once I pair my computer to my phone, windows tells me that It can't find the driver for a 'Generic Bluetooth Device'. I've tried putting in my OS X install disc and looking for one there, but no luck.
Does anyone have Bluetooth working on a MBP with Vista/Windows 7?

I finally got my iPhone tethering through bluetooth! one problem: I don't know how...
I did everything I usually do, but this time (even though it still didn't install the driver), it actually connected.
So my bluetooth works now, even though in the device manager, the device shows up as not having a driver.
To be honest, I think installing 3.1 might've had something to do with it working. Can anyone confirm that?

Activating Family Share for Windows only iTunes Users

Dear community fellows,
a search for "family share windows" shows, that the topic was yet discussed in the 4th quarter of 2014 but not yet solved at all, therefore I would like to start and reactivate it again:
How can I, a Windows only customer and user of the iTunes Store, share my huge collections of bought songs with my family? All ways described in the documenation, especially the one that creates the impression that can be done via iCloud for Windows fail.
My wife uses an iPad Air, my children use iPhones. When my wife invites me to join the family, I receive an invitation email containing a link to view the invitation, but that link does not work and clicking it always results in a message that this link cannot be opend in the browser (tried via Outlook 2013, Firefox, Chorme, Internet Explorer on a laptop using Win 7 32bit and via Firefox and Chrome and Mail on an Android smartphone).
When I try to read this mail via the web interface of my mail provider using Safari on my wife's iPad, I am informed after clicking the invitation link, that I am already a member of the family (which is not the case, the status in iCloud as displayed on the iPad for me is already "Invitation was sent" (I use the German interface, so the original message on an English one might be different from my translation).
So: How can I accept the invitation to join my own family and grant the other members access to my iTunes purchases?

You may move your audio tracks to a public folder on your network and point each iTunes music folder to it.

Plugins don't load

When I open up final cut my plugins don't load for some reason. I haven't done anything to FC lately or loaded any new plugins so I'm not sure why this is happening. Does anyone have an advise.

I had that happen recently. Another poster suggested checking the extension in your plugin folder (Under Library/ Applications support/Final cut pro/plugins. By changing the extension from .bundle to .plugin fixed it for me. You'll have to autheticate with your password each time you make the change.

How difficult is it to load software on to a Mac running Lion that was written for Windows Xp,Vista. Can it be done without causing major issues.

I am interested in getting a medical simulation program but it is available for Windows only. Is it possible to run it on a Mac system?

- a version of Windows to run in the emulator
I dimly remember putting that stuff on my wife's computer several years ago & it's been fine.

Macs used to come with their own Windows emulator, but you had to log off one OS & log on to the other one. Flipping back & forth was not good. A better approach allows you to flip between OSs like flipping between applications.
I seriously down if you can still buy Windows XP. Stay away from Vista. Windows 8 gets good press.

I Just got off the Microsoft Technical Help line (Australia ph132058) and they refused to help me because I am running Win 8.1 in Bootcamp.
I have the latest Mac Book Pro Retina with a 1TB Solid State Hard drive running Win 8.1, beautiful machine, but its slower than my old MBP running windows 7 on a standard Drive.
The niggiling problem is that it seems to hang up for seven or 8 seconds on menial tasks........ like generating a new Folder or Note etc. Otherwise it runs reasonably well but not blindingly fast....
I wasn't aware Microsoft refused to help win 8.1 users on the Mac Platform........ shouldn't this Information be made more public...! Seems they are keen to drive potential Windows users away!!
Any suggestions on where I should go for help on this (Windows/Bootcamp in General) would be much appreciated ? ........ don't mind paying a reasonable price if the service is good......
I guess the wheel has turned and Microsoft are having a go at Apple again...?

I was thinking along the same lines. I installed Win 8.0 Pro and upgraded to 8.1 ........ probably a bad move.
I have bought a new 8.1 Licence but cant risk doing a complete reinstall until I have a back up machine ready. (My old MBP is getting a new hard drive) ......... so will give that a go in about a weeks time when the back up is in place. Cant risk having nothing!
When you say "Clean Install" ..... do you mean everything ..... as in Reformat the Bootcamp sector and start from scratch.?
I have a 2 TB LaCie Thunderbolt drive with my back up data on ..... is there a way to make the Reinstall process and large amount of Data transfer easy?
The reinstall is something I need to read up on. I was hoping the solution might be some kind of Tune up on the SSHD.
Good to hear you have a number of MBP's that are flying, I would be disappointed if the final quality wasnt a bit better.
..... do you have any tips on screen Res on the Retina ..... I am running Windows at 125% Zoom, but the Bluetooth, power, wireless, Date Icons etc are all still tiny ...... could really do with an alternative to the old "Advanced Appearance Settings"

No easy fix for a few reasons:
1) Bootcamp requires a hybrid MBR for the partition table. That is: both an MBR and a GPT partition table at the same time with the GPT one having all partitions and the MBR one having only the ones that are relevant, but at most 4 of them (including the protective partition and the Macintosh HD one). Which leads us to:
2) The MBR part of the hybrid partition table cannot work with 3TB hard drives. MBR is limited to 2TB.
I am working on a small EFI app that can boot Windows in EFI mode on a Mac and that would mean that you can go GPT only on your system. The progress of the app is slow due to the nature of EFI and for now requires that you do an unattended Windows install with slipstreamed graphics drivers, but we are adding VGA loading on top of EFI quite soon after the rest of the app stabilises. The status of the app is documented at:
Win7 x64 booting natively via EFI (no bios emulation)
Windows does actually successfully boot in EFI mode on most Macs (anything with a 64bit EFI should work), but does not have graphics support even if you load the driver due to the VGA pci registers not being set by the firmware. Furthermore, in Setup and Safe Mode, Windows uses VGA instead of GOP which is a failure by design since VGA is a BIOS standard and not really compatible without hacks with EFI. Other EFI implementations also add VGA compatibility at a high cost to the firmware complexity for the VGA cards available on the market that don't actually contain anything in their ROM except the VGA BIOS.
My recomendations:
1) Install on a second smaller hard-drive; or
2) Wait for the EFI app to come out officially and use that to boot Windows Vista SP1 x64 and Windows 7 x64 (RTM and SP1) in the native EFI mode.
3) Wait for Windows 8 which supports VGA-less booting acording to the AMD presentation at UEFI Plugfest.

ITunes 10.5.3 for Windows crashes when loading Library

I am running iTunes 10.5.3 for Windows 7 and somehow my library has been corrupted and will not load..i tried using a previous library loading in safe mode, and it appears to work until it gets the the Genius update, when it crashes..has anyone had a similar problem and identified a fix?

Repair your Apple Software Update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install

Xtra for windows

I am creating a project on mac to be viewed on windows
system. How can I do with xtra. The director xtras for mac doesn't
work on pc. Should I buy a kit? Where can I find it?

If you aren't using any 3rd party xtras and you're not
creating a
Shockwave projector then publishing on a Mac for Windows
should work
fine. But be sure to test it on Windows (perhaps under
Parallels) when done.

AppleWorks for Windows crashes when loading -asks for QuickTime 4.1

I've run into a QuickTime error when loading AppleWorks 6.2.9 for Windows (Education version). The message says it needs QuickTime 4.1 to run; though I already have QuickTime 7 installed ( my windows has just been upgraded to Windows 7). Anyone know if this can be cured? Any suggestions gratefully received!

First, the last version of AppleWorks 6 for Windows is 6.2.2. AppleWorks 6.2.9 is the last Mac version.
I thought I had AppleWorks 6.2.2 installed in Windows 7 in Parallels 7 but I don't. I'm not sure when I'll have the chance to do that.
In the meantime, it might be best to start over. Delete QuickTime 7 & AppleWorks 6 & then reinstall from the AW CD including QuickTime 4.1. You can then reinstall QuickTime 7 after AW is up & running.
