There are alot of conversion programs out there if you do a search. The one I use converts alot of different formats of audio and video, and yes it will also strip just the audio from a video file. Here's a link to watch a demo if you like.

  • Mini DVR Records in .AVI and .MOV Format-white screen

I am a private investigator, and have used a mac for years. I purchased my new MacBook 2 weeks ago for the purpose of uploading the video to my mac, and burning the video to DVD for my clients.
I just purchased a JS208 Mini DVR and Mini Spy Button Cam. I.E. its a generic chinese product, but I was told that since it records in .AVI and .MOV format, I could either plug in the SV card (with the video from the mini DVR) or plug the USB cord into the computer and upload the video.
When I plug in the DVR, iPhoto recognizes that a .MOV is available. It downloads.
However, once downloaded, and opened on Quicktime, no sound and white screen.
When I click on Command I, This is what i see:
    Source: /Users/sammythepug/Desktop/MPEG0002.MOV
    Format: Apple MPEG4 Decompressor, 640 x 480, Millions
    Microsoft ADPCM, Stereo, 12.000 kHz
    FPS: 30
    Playing FPS: (Available while playing)
    Data size: 2.28MB
    Data Rate: 2336.00 kbits/s
    Current Time: 0:00:00:00.00
    Duration: 0:00:00:08.20
    Normal Size: 640 x 480 pixels
    Current Size: 640 x 480 pixels (Actual)
I spent an hour on the phone with Mac Support, and they told me to download MPEG StreamClip. I really don't know what I am doing at this point, because everyone told me it would be easy...HELP!!

    Here are the DVR Specs:
    Digital Screen: 1.5" TFT LCD
    Recording Formats: AVI, ASF, MOV
    Recording Resolution: 640x480, 480x240, 160x120 pixels
    Frame Rate: 30 FPS
    Built in Flash: 45MB
SUB Jack: High Speed USB 2.0
    Mini Cam Specs:
    Picup device: 1/3" color CMOS
    System: PAL/NTSC/ EIA
    Horizontal Definition: 420 TV Lines
    Minimum Illumination: 3 Lux
    Dimensions: 27x27x8mm
    Power Supply DC 5V
I am also open to recommendations for other cameras that may work. The DVR has to be smaller than a pack of cigarettes, and has to be compatible with the mini button camera.
    thanks

  • Need to get all the files, well music and video, from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary.

Need to get all the files, (well music and video), from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary. (So basically sync the other way to normal)
Laptop hard drive broke so had to buy a new one and obviously now need to sort out my itunes.
Did try downloading all my purchased stuff onto itunes but it has missed some things off, and there are some files I did not purchase from itunes so need a way of getting them back on there.
Sure this question has been asked a million times but can't find anything to help me on here so thought I'd ask.
-Did have a look at going onto the start menu and opening the hidden items thing but couldn't see any reference to ipod or device on it so wasn't sure how to do it that way.
-On itunes under my device when its connected, the section about manually restoring and backing up, would that help me? Because that says it will manually back up my ipod to my computer then could restore that back up, obviously I don't want to accidnetally get rid of everything on my ipod so didn't want to try that just in case without checking.
(And yes I have disabled auto sync to device when conncected!)
Can anyone help me please? Sorry if i've overcomplicated this!
    Thanks:)
    Chris

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media.  You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else.  As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC.  Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.

Is the Real Player from this link applicable to Mac as well ?
Can a Mac play rmvb files ?
Or you meant to say, Real Player cannot play in Mac & that Mac needs Real Alternative to play rmvb files ?
    Thanks

  • How do I format a linked Excel file in InDesign and maintain formatting when the Excel is modified?

I'm in CS5.5 . I have no problem placing an Excel spreadsheet with the cell range I want and applying cell formatting in InDesign. I am trying to build eight similar documents that will pull data in several tables from a document specific Excel spreadsheet. The only difference is the data itself. I want to build one master InDesign document (master.indd) that links to a corresponding master Excel file (master.xlsx). I'll then do all the table formatting in master.indd once before saving as the eight individual files I need (doc1.indd, doc2.indx, etc.). Soon I'll receive the specific Excel files (doc1.xlxs, doc2.xlsx, doc3.xlxs, etc.) and I will open each InDesign file and relink master.xlxs to the appropriately numbered and corresponding Excel spreadsheet.
My problem is all the formatting of the imported tables is stripped away when I relink. There are at least 60 tables being imported. I'd prefer to format 60 tables versus 480. I've tried importing the Excel as formatted, unformatted, I've applied cell styles in Excel and InDesign but can't catch a break. Can anyone help?

Or alternatively, do all the formatting in Excel and place as a formatted table.

  • ITunes v 1.1.1.5 makes m4b files = 0:00 and will not play. iPod update same

updated iTunes makes m4b (homemade audiobooks) show 0:00 time -- even though file size shows old size -- and files will not play. Immediate past version of iTunes showed at 0:00 but would play. updated iPod will not play pre update present m4b audiobooks.
Any ideas on how to correct? More discussion here:

Hate to post in both places, but relevance is in both forums.
How does one revert to prior versions of iTunes, QuickTime, and iPod -- assuming the latter two also need to revert. Do they?

Problem identified: SoundTaxi files created prior to v 2.2.7 will not play in iTunes v1.1.1.5.
There is a workaround for old files and dicussion here:

and SoundTaxi support says upgrading to v 2.2.7 fixes the problem and that old license code will work.

  • Reading PDF files, WORD documents and Excel documents on iPod Touch

Can some of you recommend the best application to read (if not amend or edit) pdf, Word and Excel documents on my iPod Touch? Mine is a first generation (Dec 2007 purchase) currently using OS 2.x (but could upgrade to 3.1.1 at anytime and will soon) - 16 gb capacity.
PDF files are a must - and how to move them from my MacBook to the iPod touch?
Others, including even PowerPoint or Keynote presentations - that'd be great if I could view them!
Thanks for any comments on the various programs (are there many?) and which ones are the best in your experience(s).
    Best regards,

I don't know if this what you are looking for but there is an application that let's you save email attachments directly to your iPod touch without having to work with your pc or mac on wifi to transfer files. The name for the application is: "Download Manager".... Link to the application is below.

  • Importing avi and mp4 files into iPhoto

I just finished importing my PC photo library into iPhoto and I ran into a snag.
iPhoto does not import video files in *.avi or *mp4 format.
On my old PC photo library, I have video clips taken into mostly avi format with older digital cameras, and which are stored in the same photo directories by date. When I realized that I could not sync avi files to my iOS devices, I used a conversion program to convert the the avi files to mp4 format, and was able to sync these to my iOS devices.
Now apparently iPhoto does not recognize these mp4 files. I would like to have my video clips in iPhoto so that I can sync them as needed to my iOS devices through iTunes and also sometimes use them for video editing in iMovie. Within iMovie, I see where there is a link to the iPhoto video library... so somehow I have to get these into a format recognized by iPhoto.
Can anyone recommend a method that will accomplish this? I assume I will have to convert the avi/mp4 files to some other format. Is there a utility that will extract out the video files from my hundreds of photo directories and let me convert them to the accepted format by iPhoto, preferably keeping the time/date stamp intact?

Check over on MacUpdate for file converters.

  • Merge Avi and Wave Files

    Hi,
I'm trying to load my old windows videos in iMovie but the old Windows-Program split the file in avi and wav. If I import the movie now into iMovie I don't get any sound. I know they're several programs for Windows to merge but I counld't find anything that works for the Mac.
    Any idea?

  • How do I upload a file to icloud in multiple formats?

I have noticed that when I upload a file to the iWork app of iCloud and I wish to download it, it provides me with a drop down list multiple formats (i.e. Pages, PDF or Word) however only one option (the file type I uploaded it is availible). I wish to upload a single file in multiple formats for example I want to be able to download that file in Pages and Word formats. Currently I have to resort to uploading two separate files, one Word, one Pages but that results in a lot of clutter. Is there any way I can have a file availible to download in both formats all underneath the same icon?

Documents added from a Mac need opening on an iOS device, in order for them to be able to be downloaded again, in any of the 3 formats.

    Hi Dharam
You can create text file output as seen on Live Previewer by generating to Text (File->Generate to File->Text). Ensure that you run Builder with the following command line parameter:
    MODE=CHARACTER
If the Builder mode is not character (BITMAP), it will generate PostScript file if you do a File->Generate to File->Text.
You can create Excel format output from Reports with Delimited output (File->Generate to File->Delimited). In the ensuing dialog box, choose comma (,) as the delimiter to obtain a CSV file. Export this file in Excel.

  • Ai file to wmf and cdr

Dear all, can I convert an ai file to wmf and cdr format by using adobe illustrator CS5?
    Thanks a lot.

For CDR (Corel Draw format), just save your Illustrator file in a version of .AI (Adobe Illustrator format) that your version of Corel Draw can open.
Understand: Whether talking about WMF (Windows MetaFile), CDR, AI, or many others, no such export/import filters result in perfect language "conversions," as if converting a base ten number to base 2. Each software/platform specific format has its own proprietary constructs which don't necessarily have an accurately corresponding construct in the another. So you don't want to use such "conversions" as a routine back-and-forth workflow. There will often be "clean-up" work to perform in the receiving program, and "live" feature-based elements will be broken down to more basic constructs.
