Veho usb microscope and lion os 10.7

Does this device work with Lion? Are there downloads or workarounds. The Veho site says it is compatible with 10.5 an 10.6.

If Veho says that it's only with 10.5+10.6 then that's what it is compatible with. If you still want more info you can go to http://www.veho-world.com/main/ask_expert.aspxand file a costumer support ticket.

  • Do you have to down load from the internet using apple's recover partition, every time you need to do a clean install? or can you make a copy of Mt Lion onto a USB stick and install off that?

Do you have to down load Mountain Lion from the internet every time you need to do a clean install? or can you make a copy of Mt Lion onto a USB stick and install off that?
    Thanks

Yes you can make a USB stick of Lion or Mt Lion. Use Lion Disk Maker after you download OS X from the internet.
For Lion you have to point the download to an external drive and watch when it completes and reboots the system to start the install disconnect the external. If you bought Mt Lion from the Mac App Store then you can download it from there and just cancel the install when it comes up on the desktop.
If you are downloading from the Recovery HD or from the Online Internet Recovery system, slightly different then the built in Recovery HD, then again you need to point it to an external drive and discoonect that drive when the system reboots to start the real install.
Then use Lion disk maker to create either a DVD disc or USB thumb of the install files.

  • Issue with usb flash and removable hard drives in Lion. (also an install tip)

Having an issue with my usb flash and removable hard drives.  I plug them in and Lion does not display all my files/folders, I take it out and plug it into my snow leopard machine and all the files/folders are there, does anyone have this issue?
It does it on my macbook pro which was a snow leopard upgrade to Lion and it does it on my macbook which was a clean install of Lion via a bootable flash drive.
The computers both work great in all other aspects, so there were no errors on installation. It's plain and simple, some files/folders are not showing up that are present on the drives and viewable on all other non-lion OS's mac and PC.
Also a word on installs, I highly suggest doing a clean install (delete and reformat drive them install Lion vs a snow leopard ugrade) my machine that was a clean install (macbook) runs 50% faster and smoother than the upgraded one (macbook pro).

Yes, you can use your backup disk drives in the manner you describe, but Apple provides conflicting information on the subject.
    From Mac Basics: Time Machine
Time Machine can’t backup to an external drive that's connected to an AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule, or a drive formatted for Microsoft Windows ...
From Time Machine doesn't back up to AirPort Extreme AirPort Disks
Time Machine in Mac OS X v10.5 or later can be used to back up to many kinds of Mac OS Extended-formatted drives, but you cannot choose an AirPort Extreme 802.11n's AirPort Disk as a Time Machine backup volume.
However, you can choose Time Capsule AirPort Disks or internal disks as a Time Machine backup volume.
They have yet to resolve this discrepancy.
All other available technical details regarding Time Machine's use seem to indicate that a USB HD connected to Time Capsule should meet Time Machine's requirements. For what it's worth I have been using an external HDD connected to the Time Capsule's USB port and it seems to function just fine.

  • I re-installed Mountain Lion from a USB stick, and now my Apps can't be downloaded.  The App store indicates that the Apps are already installed, but that is not the case. Now what :)

I re-installed Mountain Lion from scratch of a USB stick, and now my Apps in the App store ca not be installed, the App store indicates that they are already installed, but that is not the case.  Now what?

Ok, this is somewhat of a better work around I've found:
Starting in the Australian iTunes store, I go through the process of signing into the UK iTunes store up until the point it asks for my credit card information.
I then click the 'X' in the top left of iTunes to exit the store.
Now when I click on my Apps Updates button it shows me what UK Apps I have that are available to update.
You can't download these as at this point I've changed the store I'm viewing, but haven't officially switched accounts. Not to worry.
I write down the names of the UK Apps to update.
Then, use the 'search store' field in the top right of iTunes to search for one of the Apps.
Once you've found it, click to buy it / download it.
iTunes recognises that the App is already in your account and downloads it again for free….
… now I'm HOPING that that App is now fully within my Australian account… unfortunately only time will tell once there is a new update for it.
    I'll let you know.

  • -50 error syncing iTunes 10.4 and Lion?

Upgraded to Lion and iTunes 10.4 and am now receiving a -50 error trying to sync my iOS devices? Anyone else? All of the support documents are for older versions of iTunes, so not sure they apply.

I am having the unable to sync due to "unknown erorr (-50)" with iTunes 10.4 (80) on Snow Leopard when it comes to syncing photos (from Aperture 3).
It occurs when it goes from "Analyzing photos" to "Optimizing photos" in iTunes.
I have done the following in hopes of resolving the error:
Repaired my Aperture 3 library database
Deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" in the Aperture 3 library
Updated my iOS to the latest version
    Repaired permissions on my Mac
    Changed USB cables and ports
Restarted Mac and synced with only iTunes running
None of the above worked... I am still getting this unknown error (-50) when it tries to sync my photos.

  • Upgrading USB installer and MBPro

    Hello,
I _finally_ upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.7 and am experiencing some confusion that I hope can be eliminated here.
I downloaded Lion install app from store and made a Bootable USB volume <Mac OS X Install ESD>.
When I booted from this USB volume to install Lion, I got a utilities screen. I didn't know how to proceed with that so I rebooted and clicked on my <Lion install.app> that I downloaded. It said an update was available and I downloaded it and installed 10.7.3 without issue.
The app disappeared from  my iMac. ( I do have it on a backup drive albeit not updated to 10.7.3)
Now I am wondering how do I upgrade my USB installer and also upgrade my MBPro without downloading from the store again??
I copied all the files from the USB Install drive to another disc, made a folder and have made a .dmg of it.
But if I use it I still would have to download the update.
    Thanks for your consideration.

    Thanks Kappy,
I just found this about using RecoveryDiskAssistant.dmg
    http://macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/ss/Using-Os-X-Lions-Recovery-Disk-Assistan t_4.htm
Could I run this to an external FW drive or the outdated USB and then attach it to my MBP and install from it?
    Peace.

  • Control USB Microscope Device Functionality

I have a USB microscope (Dino-Lite) that is recognized by my system without issue.  However, the hardware has a ring of built in LED's that encircle the lens that I need to be able to turn on.  I've seen a number of tutorials indicating being able to control a device through echoing a "1" or "0" to /sys/bus/usb/devices/xxxxx/power/...  My main objective is to determine what commands are available to control a device and how to modify the device's state. I've posted output below for lsusb and dmesg with a few additional details.
    lsusb
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 413c:8187 Dell Computer Corp. DW375 Bluetooth Module
Bus 002 Device 006: ID a168:0840 AnMo Electronics Corporation
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 1bcf:2b83 Sunplus Innovation Technology Inc.

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
So I know that the AnMo Electronics Corporation makes the Dino-Lite so I suspect it is BUS002 Device 006.
    However. . .

Any guidance would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

ahawk wrote:After poking around in the power directory I see a few items but am not sure what parameter to attempt to modify.  (and after trying, even with sudo, I get a permission denied error)
What are the items?  I don't have this device, so I can't see what you see - but I've done similar tinkering so I might be able to answer a multiple-choice version of this question rather than a fill-in-the-blank.
Also, what commands are you running with sudo?  `sudo echo 1 > /path/to/file` will fail as only the echo part is ran as su; the redirection is not.  At least to start, just `su` to get a root shell, then echo to the file(s).

  • Sharing file between moutain lion and lion

To share files other MACs running Mt. Lion, you simply turn on AirDrop.  Without an internet or intranet, can you, and how do you share files between MACs running Mt. Lion and Lion?  How do you share files between Mt. Lion and any other older versions of OS X?

Here is a real-life example. My principal home machine is a 2011 Mac mini running OS X 10.8.3. My work laptop is a 2010 MacBook Pro with Lion. On the laptop, I enable File Sharing (afp) and export a project folder from the MacBook Pro and mount it on the desktop of the Mac mini.
Now, I can be more productive across two large monitors with the same applications and data; without concern for synchronizing final content. In my case, the work files remain on the laptop. Moving files between machines is a simple Finder operation.
WIthout a network, you can create your own with a length of CAT5(E) or better cable connecting each Mac Ethernet port. No need for a router in this (temporary) case. The alternative to this is a USB stick or where both machines have a reader, an SDHC data card.

  • HT1384 Is there a difference between an IPod USB cord and an IPhone USB cord?

Is there a difference between an IPod USB cord and an IPhone USB cord?

Guy would this be of any help:
To start up your computer in Apple Hardware Test:
Press the power button to turn on your computer.
Press and hold the D key before the gray startup screen appears. If Apple Hardware Test does not start up, see the Additional Information section at the end of this article.
Note: Some Macintosh computers that shipped with OS X Lion support the use of Apple Hardware Test over the Internet. These computers will start up to an Internet-based version of AHT if the hard drive does not contain AHT.  An Internet-enabled connection via Ethernet or Wi-Fi is required to use this feature.
It takes a minute or so for Apple Hardware Test to start up and inspect your hardware configuration. While this is taking place, an icon appears on the screen:
When the process is complete, select your language and click the right arrow. If you aren't using a mouse, you can use the up and down arrows to select a language and then press the Return key.
The Apple Hardware Test console appears. You can choose which sort of test or tests to perform:
To perform all of the basic tests, click the Test button or press the "T" key or the Return key.
To perform a more thorough diagnostic test, select the "Perform extended testing" checkbox under the Test button before you click the Test button.
Your test results will appear in the window in the bottom-right of the console.
To exit AHT, click Restart or Shut Down at the bottom of the window.

  • Transferred files by USB disk and drive - missing!

I try to transfer files by USB stick, and I suspect that an issue/bug may be happening:
    1. I load, say, 100mb of files - maybe media files - onto a reliable SanDisk USB stick.
    2. Then, I take the same files, and transfer them them on my hard drive. Predictable and easy, right?
    3. One of two things happen. Either I get a named folder but with no files inside; or if I try to transfer individual files, see them appear on my iMac as they're being transferred, they then disappear, and there's a file transfer "plunk" afterwards. But no files have been transferred.
This is kind of a serious problem. How can I transfer files and folders by USB disk again? Have other Lion users experienced this problem?
Is this a by-product of a Lion feature, or some kind of bug that can be fixed?

    Thanks for your reply.
I've tried transferring between a MacBook Pro and iMac, using a SanDisk USB drive, and in both cases, the files disappear - though the folder itself is for some reason preserved. I don't use Windows.
The files are fully compatible with a Mac format, and I've often used them succesfully in the past - until Lion. Now, any files, or the data in folders, just disappear.
Other users must be experiencing the same thing....

  • Problems with USB connection and PC Suite

Connecting your device to the PC via USB doesn´t always work as smooth as it should. You can either use the setup´s repair function or if you are experiencing more serious problems, you need to uninstall all Nokia software form your phone and get it back on to make to work again.
This is how you do it:
Run the Nokia PC Suite setup file again and choose "repair" instead of "uninstall". This should solve some of the connectivity problems. If it didn´t work for you continue with the instructions below.
Go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Software, there you need to uninstall all Nokia software (Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Cable driver, PC Connectivity Solution ...)
Download and run Nokia PC Suite Cleaner
    Reboot your computer
Download and install PC Suite here.
Connect your phone via USB cable (if possible use a different USB jack) and follow the instructions on the screen.
Now you´re set up to manage your phone with PC Suite!
