Veiwer Problem

This problem has been going on for quite some time and I have just dealt with it. I have FCP 4.5 HD, and for some reason, when my video is not playing instead of showing a still frame in the veiwer, there is a blank white screen. Anyone have anyidea? Could it have anything to do with pulldowns? I do shoot with a Panasonic DVX100a in 24p and 24pa and am not am expert with some of the pulldown procedures...
I'm shooting a short film on June 3rd and it would be nice to have this problem fixed by then. Thank you in advance for the help.

Could be a basic keystroke goof - you pressed Shift-W once and set the Viewer to Alpha Mode. If that is the case, pressing Shift-W twice will set the Viewer to (the correct) RGB Mode. (Pressing Shift-W once should produce your image with a red tint over it in your Viewer - this is RGB+Alpha mode. So make sure to press it twice.)
Or is it beyond that?

Safari PDF Veiwing Problems

Having problem in viewing pdf files using the Safari browser. I have adobe professional installed on my machine. I have read in this forum that Safari has a build in pdf reader and to delete the adobe plug-in in the library/internet plug-in folder. I did delete this file but it has no effect on safari and viewing pdf files. When I select a pdf file for viewing I get just a black screen and no viewing.
Everything works properly when using Firefox if that makes any difference.
As info is greatly appreciated.

The black screen shows while it downloads the PDF when using the Adobe PDF plugin, it might take a while depending on the PDF size. give it a while, or try to view a PDF that you know is small.
Safari uses the Adobe Plugin in 32 bit mode (if present in the plugin folder), its internal renderer in 64 bit mode.
I am not sure, but I think you can only change 32/64 bit mode in Snow Leopard, in the info window for the application.

Having problems veiwing h264 videos larger than 2 gb, they refuse to play, in either windows or mac verison of FF. less than 2 gb they play fine.

I work for a video company encoding videos, The only problem we have is Firefox not playing videos encoded as H 264 (1080) larger than 2 gb, as they won't play. I Tried both current version 9.0.1 in mac and windows and no change. In IE, Chrome, the video plays fine. Is there a file limitation in Firefox? as I read someplace else that FF also has problems uploading 2 gb files, don't know of that's related. Any help would be appreciated.

ok, I'm corrected that HTML 5 support for h264 is not present in FF at the moment. SO if the Video hand-off to flash to play the video in Firefox would be the cause of the File size limitations, then it's Adobe's issue then, correct?

Hard drive issues due to Time Machine backup? Can't source the problem.

Last night my computer began to run extremely slow. All apps simultaneously lagged (spinning wheel of death), but then began working again after about 0.5-1 minute. This whole-system crash repeated about every 10 minutes a total of probably 5-6 times. The last time all apps stopped functioning and (CPU usage of iTunes was 85-95% for some reason (viewed using activity monitor), I am guessing due to its use of multiple hard drives as my music is stored on an external drive) and my computer just shut off after about 3 minutes of completely stalling. Rebooted computer and was left with an EXTREMELY slow system; opening up the quick menu (forgot the name, button on the top row of keyboard) for booting applications took 2-3 minutes. I eventually started disk utility, verified disk. It said I needed to repair disk by restarting my computer while holding down [Command] R message. Made sure i had a backup (at the time of that backup my computer was experiencing the problems above, 11:21pm), so I restarted whilst holding command R. Booted into the OSX utilities, retried the disk repair, received the "Disk Utility cannot repair this drive: back up as many files as you can..." message. Erased/reformatted my internal hard drive, and ran "repair disk" again; disk utility found no problems with the disk. Restored my files to my internal hard drive using OSX utilities (using the full system restore of the 11:21pm backup), and left it running while ran some errands. When I came back to look at my computer, it had attempted startup and crashed with the "kernel error" or whatever where all the text is on the left of the screen. It said something about not being able to find "disk2", which I believe was the disk containing OSX utilities (as veiwed in disk utility while running OSX utilities). Force shutdown, reboot with command R, wiped my internal drive again. Decided to only install a fresh version of OSX in an attempt to scan for viruses (using Sophos Antivirus, running scan as I am typing this), as the slow behavior of my computer had been very strange and began almost instantaneously (seemed like a virus/malware). No threats found so far with Sophos (scanning all my external drives too to source the problem in time machine backups), but I have deduced that there is something wrong with the most current Time machine backup, as it re-established the "problem" (easily fixed once drive is erased using OSX utilities) with my hard drive once I restored it to my internal hard drive. I am wondering (if it is not a virus) if I will need to repeat this whole process with every time machine backup to find where it went wrong, or if i can somehow pinpoint the problem easier. Will all of my Time Machine backups be corrupted now? Why would the Time Machine backup affect the state of the hard drive (does in need to be repaired or not)? Very confused at these random problems. If it is a virus (I will post the results of the Sophos antivirus scan as soon as it is finished), can I remove it from the backup and then restore it with no problems? What do you suggest I do? Will it make a difference to restore the most recent backup (11:21pm) using Migration assistant now that I am running a fresh install of OSX mountain lion? How can I source and eliminate the problem?

Major Display Problems

I just bought my new MacBook Pro 15" last month. When I try to connect to my 22" LG Flatron L227WTG display via VGA, the picture won't show up (except for rare occasions). When I turn it on with all the stuff connected, it'll show the picture for less than a second and then it'll be gone to about another 10-20 seconds. Today I somehow got it to work and when I changed the resolution in a game Black lines came up along with tinted colors:

It'll show all the other resolutions just NOT the display's full resolution; 1680x1050. It'll show 1680x1000, 1440x900, etc.
Would this be a problem with the MacBook Pro itself? Maybe the Graphics Card? I will note that the "rare" occasions only happen when I have the higher-end graphics card turned on. The Mini-DVI or whatever it's called on my old White MacBook works FINE.

Haven't heard of most of the issues. You may want to manually uninstall and reinstall your graphics driver.
The colored text may be due to ClearType; you may notice it having color fringes if you look closely. This is to boost the perceived clarity of the text.
Depending on your screen, you may have poor vertical veiwing angles. Do you have a 1366x768 (HD), 1600x900 (HD+), or 1920x1080 (FHD) display?
I'd definitely try re-imaging with the factory install considering you don't have much installed yet.

아래와 같은 절차에 따라 IE에서 Embeded 형태로
MICROSOFT WORD R MICROSOFT EXCEL 를 볼수 있습니다.
1.Viewer type을 추가합니다, Word 와 Excel Type 두개 모두 해야합니다.
2.Sysadmin responsibility권한으로 Login
3.Navigate as follows:
Install -> Viewer Options
4.다음 two lines 을 추가하고 저장한다.

5.다음을 실행합니다.
5.1. Navigate to Profile --> System
5.2. Search for %viewer%
5.3. Click on the "Viewer:Application for Text". You should get the "…"

(In this example choose 11i Word.)
5.5. Save the configuration.
5.6. Log out and log in again
5.7. Login as sysadmin responsibility
5.8. Go to "File" at the top and choose "Log on as a different user"
If you don't have any reports that you can view then run a simple
report like active users.
5.9. Navigate to Requests --> View
5.10. Choose View All My Requests
5.11. Find the Active user report or any other report you wish to use.
5.12. The Netscape Browser should come up and you will get a dialogue
window that says the following:
File Download
"You have chosen to download a file from this location.
What would you like to do with this file?"
5.13. You have two choices. Open the file or save the file to disk.
5.14. You also have a check box that if you uncheck it you will no
longer get this window.
5.15. Select Open this file from it's current location.
5.16. You will now see the following window:
"Open With
Click the program you want to open the file 'file' with"
5.17. In the top of the box put in a description you will be able to
find later. In this case put in "11i word type".
5.18. Go down on the list and find winword. Make sure that the Always
use this program to open this file is checked and click OK.

I got this message when trying to use Excel 2003. I went to Microsoft's web site's community and entered the error message that you got. There was a solution offered that worked for me although I cannot remember now what it was. You might also try Microsoft's knowledge base for any possible answers for this problem. IMHO, I believe this is an Office 2003 problem and not an Acrobat problem.
I usually find the answers to problems such as these on Microsoft's web site. Good luck.

Problems viewing PDF documents created on a scanner using PDF version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x)

We multiple Xerox scanners and not all of them operate on the same version of software/firmware. 1 of our scanners uses PDF Version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) when scanning a doucment to our network and 1 of our scanners uses PDF Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x). When using Adobe Reader 9.x both documents open properly and are 100% visible. After upgrading to Adobe Reader X, the scans created using the newer version of PDF (1.6) have some missing text/images on the pages and have a grey "overlay" on the page. Again, Reader 9 will view both files properly, but Reader X will not. Any help is appreciated. I have fiddled around with several of the view settings to no avail. Thanks.

Problems Viewing PDF documents

Hi,
A colleague of mine travels quite frequently, and from time to time receives email from our office with PDF attachements.
He reads his emails using Outlook Web, sometime when he opens a PDF the PDF will show instantly, other times the PDF cannot open, sometimes asking to be save to the PC's hard drive.
Is this a common problem when traveling and using multiple PC outside of the office? And if so, are there ways of overcoming this problem?

I created a .pdf template using Adobe LiveCycle Designer. After I upload this template, I can not view the report. Can I only create templates using the BI Publisher plugin for MS Word?

Problem with photo overlay in iMovie

Hi,
So I'm trying to overlay a photo in imovie on top of a video clip. I have draged and dropped it into my timeline and selected "Picture in a Picture." However everytime I do this, I can see the correct picture in the timeline but on the veiwer it shows a still image of a video clip that I have in my event liburary. Does that make since? Anyway, I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix this little problem. Any ideas?

Where are you adding the music for the slideshow? In iMovie HD 6? If so export the movie out of iMovie via the Export ➙ Quicktime menu option and select Full Quality.
That will create a .dv movie file that you can then drag into your iDVD project menu being careful to avoid any drop zones in the menu..
HOWEVER, play the .dv file with Quicktime Player to make sure it plays thru to the end and the audio ends when you expect it to before dragging into iDVD.
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process. To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good and you can then burn to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available (2x or 4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
You can avoid the export in iMoivie and and just drag the iMovie project file into the iDVD menu. That will let iDVD do the encoding rather than have iMovie encode it and then iDVD reencode it.

Please help w/ major ipod problem

black screen with a white apple is all i get. repeatedly turns on and off till battery dies. will not reset or be recoginized by computer

A few things come to mind. First Linux. 2nd opening of said iPod and taking out the hard drive and hooking it into a EX USB hard drive connection. Not sure if it is the same.. but it is worth a shot... from the pics that I have been looking at, they appear to be the same. by doing this you will be able to tell where the problem is for sure. if it works then I think that you can go to iPod_Control (enable veiwing of hidden folders on PC) on the iPod in my computer.

Problem using Glassfish v3 with Eclipse IDE

Hi. I just installed Eclipse for EE developers and Glassfish v3. The IDE detected the server and registered it, but when it comes to run the applications I get the following message:
GlassFish v3 requires a JDK 1.6 and not a JRE. Please add/select the correct JDK in the Server properties 'Runtime Environment' section.
Can anyone suggest what to do in a more less detailed way. I tried accessing the Administration Console page but I don't know what to change. Also, I tried right-clicking the server within the IDE but I don't see anything useful

I was also experiencing this problem...I installed the bundle from here http://download.java.net/glassfish/eclipse/ the one that supposedly has the jdk bundled. But apparently it either doesn't install it, or doesn't properly configure the bundled eclipse to point to it...So:
1) make sure the jdk is installed. Look in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.XXXX (mine says 0_16). If that has stuff in it the jdk probably was installed, if not you can grab just the jdk from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
2) This is where the error message kinda foobars ya...
- Get eclipse started, ignore the message.
- Go to Window>Preferences
- Then under JavaInstalled JREs hit Add.
- Select 'Standard VM' then Next
- JRE Home = C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.XXXX the rest should fill in automagically. Hit Finish.
- MOST IMPORTANT!!! Click the check box back in the Preferences Window for the new jdk runtime...I don't know why it's necessary, but it definitely is...
3)Still in Preference Window.
- Get to +Server, Runtime Environments
- Select the Glassfish SRE, hit Edit...
- From the JRE drop down grab the JDK and hit Finish
- Hit Okay.
4)Go to the Servers Veiw (probably down by the Console View).
Right click on the Bundled Glassfish...Server and hit restart/start...
Hopefuly this fixes it...

Problem in N8 Ovi social widget

Hi,
I am using my N8 for over two weeks now. When i use ovi social network widget to access my facebook account, many images do not load. It is shown as image broken/blocked symbol (like the one we see on some emails when images are blocked when veiwing on desktop).
Please suggest.

Hi, when you open social widget, select "Options" and then last one in list "Udate service". It will check for updates and you get message "your service has been updated"
After you get this message you can add or log-in to your FB account.
By the way since when are you facing this problem? is your handset new (1-2 weeks), if so you need to update your phone probably for software updates PR1.1 or atleast social (latest version 1.2.163.).

My program has 4 classes: Book, Library, View and controller.

}when user want to add a new book, the controller object must controll it and the veiw object must show this book beside other books(to uppdate the view object).
The Book, Library and View classes are ok.
But I have just problem with controller class , how the controller object controls other objects.

If the library would offer an event mechanism, the view(s) could register for events. You could achieve this with the Observer/Observable classes, with PropertyChangeSupport (that wouldn't work well with collections) or with something you'd write yourself (depending on your experience, I'd start with Observer/Observable).
But how would the views get a hold of the library? Not via the controller IMO - you should be able to transparently add or remove views without changing either model (library) or controller. The best way (again, IMHO) would be to make library a singleton, so that both view(s) and controller can look up the library without passing it around. (I assume a standalone application here - for other contexts the same principle applies, but sometimes static is a bad idea.)
By the way, I'm not sure if that's your actual code, but it wouldn't compile, of course (with the Class, Private and stuff).

Need Some Help? Icon view Problems

Just recently my finder has been acting up. While in finder and viewing in Icon layout, Leopard has been taking a while to load icon folders & images. It's only about 5 sec, but much slower than before. The problem only occur in Icon veiw. All other views load folders and images quickly (List, Coverflow, ect.) Has anybody encountered this problem and knows how to solve it?
