Vendor communication language restriction

Hi experts,
is there a way to restrict the list of languages in the communication field in vendor master data?
My customer doesn't want all the T002 table list but only a few of them.
I didn't find anything both in the IMG and in SDN.
Thanks in advance!

  • Error message : Vendor Communication language is for item 0000000002

    Hi,
We are on EBP 4.0, SP11. Classic scenario.
When the requirement is in sourcing without a source assigned/prederred vendor and the buyer adds a source (in work area) and tries to transfer the requirement back to the worklist by holding the changes there is an error message "Vendor Communication language is for item 0000000001".
This is preventing the buyer from adding a source and holding the change. There seems to be nothing wrong with the vendor. Dont know why this message is flashed.
Can someone suggest what can be done.
If there is a way to change this error message to a warning, will it help? ow can this be done?

  • Can PO communication language be controled through User parameter?

    Dear,
I am importing material from internal vendor. While creating PO the system is giving Error "No short text maintained in language DE ".After analysis i got to know that it is due to miss match between vendor communication language and material master description language. Now we can not change vendor master communication language form DE to EN because the vendor general data is maintained by the Germans and as per the logic it should be in thier local language. The next thing is we do not want to extend material description in language  DE as it may confuse Indian user.So kindly guide  how to resolve this issue?
Is there any user parameter to control this language error?
    Regards
    Dina

what you describe is like you want go swimming without getting wet.
No, you cannot control the language from a user parameter.
you have to maintain the material descriptions in any language that is used as communication language in vendor master.
A communication language should always be a language that could be understood by both parties, you and your vendor.
a common used vendor should have EN as communication language.
There should be a design concept in your company for such cases, otherwise it is a gap and needs to be closed with a decision that one of the effected parties does not like.

  • PO communication language

    Hi Seniors,
My client has created a PO with foreign supplier in Spain. So in PO its taking communication language as ES which is maintained in vendor master(foreign supplier). Language assigned to company code is FR. Now the client wants it in EN when he creates PO. How can i support him ? How is it possible ?
Basically while creating PO, from where it will take the communication language ?
from company code or from vendor master or from any where else ? Kindly clear me please.
    Regards,
    JanaMM

The communication language is always taken from the vendor master.
It can be overwritten in the PO header communication tab, before you enter an item.
The communication field in the vendor master is not designed to hold the language that is spoken in the vendors country. it is meant to hold the language that you want communicate to this vendor.
If you cannot speak spanish, then you should enter a language that you able to communicate with  in the vendor master.
we usually set local language to local customers and EN to all foreign vendors .
if a local vednor is used globally then EN is maintained as communication language.

  • PO Communication language settings

In the create purchase order screen, under header- communication language field will be appearing.
From where, this setting will be defaulted.
I think it is not from the vendor master or from PO document type settings.
    Can anybody explain it.

    Hi Raghavendra Praveen,
I am not too happy about your tone in this thread. I can see that you are new to this forum and so I must ask you to please be more considerate in future.
Yogesh has posted his belief that this is taken from the vendor master and this has been confirmed by several other experts.
Your comment <b>"Could have tried with Vendor master and confirmed it before posting"</b> is particularly unwelcome. I could say the same thing to you, if you had tried it and it didn't work then why not say that in your post. And if you had tried this properly then you would have found out that it DOES come from this record.
I too believe that it comes from the vendor master record and so I would question your testing. If you simply change it in the vendor master it will NOT change it in the PO that has already been saved. So please try it again yourself on a new PO, enter the language on the vendor master record and create a new PO and see if the language is taken from the vendor master.
Finally, even if Yogesh, Arif, Myself and anyone else has made a mistake (and we didn't here)then please do consider that we ALL did this to try to help and so deserve some respect from you. We do not deserve your harsh comments.
I have just tried this yet again and there is NO SURPRISE that the language IS DEFINITELY coming directly from the vendor master record as you have been advised by Yogesh and others.

  • Communication language- contract

    Hi,
In contractlanguage is english, which came from vendr master.  Now we changed lang to French in vendor master, but the same is not reflecting in contract.
Is there any way so that communication language can be changed in contract.
Edited by: Alexandro fozters on Feb 23, 2010 6:37 AM

delete you contract and create a new one.
from OSS Note 80445 - Changing the language indicator in purchasing docs.
This is not a program error.
You can only change the language in the header of one of the above-mentioned purchasing documents as long as no text exists in the header or detail of the document.
This means that you can change the language when creating, for example, the outline agreement while you enter the header data, but as soon as you copy or enter texts from reference documents/master records (also short texts for materials in items), you can no longer change the language because the texts will then no longer be consistent.

  • Communication Language Polish

When creating new users for Poland the default communication language is set to Polish.
But not possible to select it in the drop down box.
Now we start to the fine-tuning for Poland and activate the language Polish (and Chinese) and still the same.
Polish is displayed, but when changing to e.g. English and can't go back to polish, as not available in drop down
    1. Go to the Application & User Mgt. WoC
    2. Go to the Business Users
    3. Select the User (of Poland)
    4. Edit -> Attributes
    5. Change the language as per screenshot
The additional language is only visible for translation of Expense Types.
Is my expectation correct to see Polish (and Chinese) in the drop down for the communication language for user (as from empl repl idoc Polish is set as default).
If selected, do we have e-mails in polish, or are just some exepense types translated to polish
    - visible in e-mails)
    - visible on UI (even when logedin in english)?

    Hi All,
I have clarified the requirement with our Product Owner.
The reason for this behavior is that polish logon language support for Cloud for Travel & Expense is only available with next version which will be available after system upgrade.
So after upgrade, You should be able to select polish as language to users after having changed it to English before.
By the way, the field language in User attributes in Work center Application & User management doesn't refer to the communication language but only to the default logon language.

    sekhar

    you say
We want to get information from Vendor about his communication methods, his contact persons
for this in SRM there is a provision to have a web survey in a business scenario called
    Sourcing with Supplier Registration
after intial screening you may send detailed questonnaires asking for further details.
You can publish the link of we survey on yr company website and invite vendors to submit the info.
You will need to customize yr own web survey

  • ECC BUPA BDT: setting default CAM "Communication language"

    Hi,
I thought I'd better ask for help before I'm starting to feel like I'm loosing sanity... My system is NW 702 SAPKB70211, IS-UT 605 SAPK-60508INISUT, all screens and behaviours from Transaction BP.
I'm trying to set the defaults for Central Address Management (CAM) Communication language and country for Organizations and Groups (and Correspondence language for Persons). I've done the ISDAT BDT "Event" FM reccomended so often on SCN, setting the busdefault-country and busdefault-langu using  BUP_BUPA_FIELDVALUES_SET, and all seems well - the Address tab at least:
    - for Person:
    - for Org and Group:
The trouble starts when one tries to create Adress from Address Overview of Org or Group - the default language is just not there, and neither is country:
It turns out that, after defaults have been taken over in BUA_BUPA_PBO_BUA110 once, SAP standard resets (why, Hasso, why on earth would your guys need to do something like that.!?! ) the busdefault-langu if the BP type is other than Person (and telnr, faxnr_call, mc_city1, country, mc_street, post_code1, house_num1 for all types). In my desperation I even tried to use the SET/GET parameter SPR from FORM d0100_read_address of LSZA1O02. The trouble is - BUPA calls the thousand and one global flags CAM monstrocity so that g_address_is_optional is always set.
So... before I start controlling what of their glabal data for BUPA defaults SAP logic can or can not modify via implicit inhancement in BUP_BUPA_FIELDVALUES_SET (if the logic is fine with taking those over once per session, why not n times...) does anyone know a straightforward and reliable way of defaulting CAM language and country (for organization and group)?
I've searched OSS up and down but found nothing appliccable that would be helpful.
    Thank you and cheers
    Janis

Ok, since the standard logic for BP default values is barely more than "useless" (defaults taken over only once, if the transaction mode for BP is create... meaning, they will not be taken over if you create an address in change mode of BP...), I ended up with:
    - implicit enhancement at the begin of BUP_BUPA_FIELDVALUES_SET protecting (SAPLBUD0)-gl_busdefault against overwriting via this FM (it obviously can't protect from changes within SAPLBUD0 itself... of which there are plenty);
    - implicit enhancement at the end of BUP_BUPA_FIELDVALUES_GET, delivering e_busdefault from the state protected within my singleton;
    - implicit enhancement at the beginning of ADDR_EXP_SUBSCREEN, setting the VALUE(SUGGESTED_VALUES) from busdefault state protected within my singleton for ADDRESS_GROUP 'BP' (I shouldn't really be changing input parameters inside the FM, I know, I know...) AND pushing the protected state back into (SAPLBUD0)-gl_busdefault via BUP_BUPA_FIELDVALUES_SET...
The latter I needed to fight against standard logic loosing default country for Persons if one navigates to Address overview and deletes the standard address...
The reason I'm going to such lengths to set this stuff programmatically rather than via SHD0 transaction variants or something similar... I don't want to have to find every transaction within ECC that permits to edit BP and create variants for them; I don't want to have to adjust those variants when something changes in dynpros.
I'm thorougly fedup with BP and ECC and am ready for "R/4" (or whatever replaces it)
    cheers
    Janis

  • FM to retrieve communication language of BP.

    Hi all,
What FM can retrieve the communication language of Bussines Partner?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    David.

    Hi Nishant, Hi David,
Sorry, but the above answer isn't correct -
LANGU_CREA gives you the language in which the address was created - i.e. the language in which the user was logged on when he created the address! This is not the communication lang of the BP. Infact LANGU_CREA is maintained in the DB for an address, even if you don't maintain an any communication lang for the BP!
Communication lang is different for persons and organizations.
For persons, use the module BUPA_CENTRAL_GET_DETAIL, pass the BP number, and in the returned result, look for field CORRESPONDLANGUAGEin structure ES_DATA_PERSON. This is the communication lang of the peson. Person BPs can have just one correspondence langauge.
For organizations, the comminication language differs according to the country in which its office is based. So to get the comm lang, you need to use modulle BUPA_ADDRESS_GET_DETAIL, pass the BP number and address number, and then you can get the langauge from field LANGU of structure ES_ADDRESS. Organization BPs can have many communication langauages based on the location of their offices.
    I hope this helps you.
    Cheers,
    Rishu.

  • Defaulting Communication language for BP

    Hi All,
Any idea how default communication language for BPs in CRM 5.0. Please let me know.
I have found lot of threads that speak abt a BAdi..but none of them have mentioned the BAdi name. Please let me know the BAdi.
    regards,
    Sameer Ahamad

    Hi Sameer,
This is what you need to do :
    1. Look at structure BUSDEFAULT. This has some fields that can be defaulted on the BP. If you want to default one of these fields, then
a)create a new Z module , e.eg : Z_bupa_set_default. In this, create a structure of type BUSDEFAULT, fill it with the fields you want and then pass this strucutre to FM BUP_BUPA_FIELDVALUES_SET.
      b) Register your Z module in event ISDAT. For this, go to txn BUS7, choose event ISDAT, and register this Z module.
Now, whenever you create a BP in transaction BP, your Z module will be called before preparing the screen and the UI will contain the fields that you filled in the busdefault structure.
In case you need to default a field that isn't present in BUSDEFAULT, you need to make a modification and add that field to the standard structure BUSDEFAULT. This is the only way. It will solve your issue, i 've tried this and verified.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Cheers,
    Rishu.

  • Communication Language in Infotype

    Hi Experts,
My client wants to maintain local languages known by employees. Please let me know as to where can we maintain these. In IT 0002, communication language, I am able to select English but let me know how can I add few more languages to this.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
still I would suggest to follow an earlier advice: Store languages in IT0024 - Qualifications.
Functionalities which are covered in part X of SAP, should not be recorded in part Y where enhancements are required.
General advice: Minimize enhancements as they will blow your maintenance cost sky-high.
    Wilfred.
