Venting

Sorry to post just a pure frustration rant, but I have ot let
off some steam. I've been working with Captivate 3 for about 2
months now, first getting familiar with the capabilities, and more
recently creating a multi-chapter tutorial. While the actual
capabilities and final product are excellent, I have to say that
this is the least user-friendly, least intuitive program I have
ever used.
I'm, proficient in other Adobe programs (Premiere, Photoshop)
and I can hardly believe that this is an Adobe product. The number
of times I've had to redo work is shocking. I will say that the
primary source of my frustration is the audio and audio timing
area. If you are doing anything but laying down a single long piece
of audio, this program is just not up to snuff. In addition to the
many pops and crackles that appear out of nowhere, the editing
functions are downright horrible. Attempting to do anything beyond
the simplest of timing changes is asking for trouble. Numerous
times I've had my entire audio scrambled for no apparent reason
while doing simple timing edits. And it's not so simple going back
and fixing these issues once they occur. Every simple fix seems to
create a new problem further down the timeline.
Another real problem is the horrendous 'undo/redo' feature in
the program. With no visible history list, it is impossible to tell
exactly what you are undoing/redoing until you actually do it. Even
then, the tasks you just did do not appear to get undone when you
attempt to use it. I have found myself more than once lost in
limbo, not sure where I am in the task history. (It seems that
previews, which of course are done frequently, add steps to the
task history, but honestly, I can't be sure.)
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a genius or an
expert. But I've been around long enough and used enough multimedia
programs to know when one really works. And this one has a long
ways to go before it's truly at the level of Adobe's other
products. I'm into my project too deep now to back out, but I can
assure you that I will be researching other programs before we
create a new tutorial.
Again, sorry to just vent, but I've never been so frustrated
by a program that
should be great.
Back to work.

Vent away man. I only have Captivate 2 and completely agree.
I'm so sorry I dindt buy Camtasia!!!

  • How do i clean the air vents on my hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc?

Latelly, the fan on my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC has been noiser than usual and it appears that my notebook becomes quite warm to the touch. The HP Support Assistant running on my notebook PC recommended that I can reduce the heat and fan noise  by cleaning the air vents. How do I do this? Can I do this myself or do I have to have a professional do it?

    Hi Rosie,
You can clean the vents on your notebook.
Buy a can of compressed air.  Essentially, you need to gently blow out the vents with the compressed air to clear out the dirt and dust.  You need a can with a small straw like attachment for the nozzle so you can point it directly toward the vents.
Do take a look at this document first so you know which way to point the air and how to avoid damaging the fan inside the notebook.

  • I'm Sorry, I Have To Vent

My company purchased Captivate shortly before the buy-out. It
sounded like a great product. It looked very promising. However, it
did not work with my Sony VIO's built-in sound card. (Well,
Macromedia would say it worked, you just couldn't record narration
while recording. They advised me to use a different application to
record the sound after I did the screen capture. Sort of like using
a different application to animate your Flash document after you
create it.) I also had a USB Edirol device that it wouldn't work
with. So we scrapped Captivate and went back to Camtasia.
Captivate 2.0 came out and I hoped that this one would work,
after all, Adobe bought it right? I downloaded the demo first, so
that we didn't plop down the bucks and find out it still didn't
fly. Well, it didn't. They added a nice little selector though from
line to mic. A nice step towards full functionality. Maybe the
Audition programmers should start having lunch with the Captivate
programmers? Anyhow, I let it sit for a bit and finally got a new
Creative device that others in the office have been able to get
working with the demo. Now though, the demo expired. I contacted
Adobe and was informed that I'd get a response in 24-BUSINESS
hours, which is a bit out of the ordinary I'd say, but they're
probably having lots of support calls to make lately.
Problem is, no response. That was 11/29/06. It's now
12/11/06. They must have short days. My support portal shows
'Pending Adobe Response'. I left another message, opening a new
ticket, and commenting on the first. Both cases are still 'Pending
    Adobe Response'.
    <VENT>
So we have bought a product that didn't work like it should.
We were told to use another product to get what we were told we'd
get from this product. We bought other hardware to try to make this
product work like it should. And then can't get any help when that
doesn't work. I am a big fan of PS, Audition, Flash(which can be
quirky too), and other Adobe products, but this has put a real dent
in my respect for the company. #1, the product should be tested
with what is popular hardware, which USB sound capture devices are
incredibly popular (look at all the complaints about that on this
forum). #2, if the product does not do what it says, step up to the
plate and do what is right, admit it.. #3, have the fortitude to
address requests for a solution. </VENT>
I know, Adobe doesn't look at its own forums...problem is, it
apparently doesn't look at its own web cases either. So who should
    I contact?

Sorry to hear about your problems. Before RoboDemo and During
RoboDemo develpment, I was a loud and frequent basher of the
progress. The old RoboDemo forum wad filled with posts and problems
and the total posts outnumbered this forum. This forum actually has
few posts and that is from the cumulative input of RoboDemo,
Captivate 1 and Captivate 2 users. I would say that with more and
more users, that is a sign of success.
Your issue is unique and hardware issues are tough. Just last
week I failed to install one of my products on a user's machine for
the first time. It is frustrating, but it happens.
So lets go over your hardware a bit. Assuming that you have
WindowsXP, I also assume that you upgraded to SP2 for Windows XP.
Some people running Windows ME, particularly on the Sony Vaio
PCG-C1VN computers (Caruso Chips) had all kinds of compatibility
    issues.
You do have the newest drivers from Sony. Best to check their
    site for any updated drivers.
Your BIOS settings cound have some port options for sound. I
doubt it, but perhaps it is not enabled in the BIOS? Again, I doubt
    this is the case.
Did you try to delete the sound driver from Control Panel?
    Control Panel
    System
    Hardware Tab
    Device Manager
    Sound and Video Game Controllers
You can delete the sound devices
Any device with the Yellow ! sign would be a problem for
    sure.
A reboot after a delete would re-install the audio drivers
and that could stop the conflicts?
Go to Control Panel after the reboot and look at Sound and
Audio Devices. look at the advanced settings. Look At the menubar
for Options and Properties. Is sound recording even enabled? Is
sound recording level set to zero level? Is sound recoding set
(checked) to Mute? There are several settings in the sound
properties and you should browse through them all. It seems that
    your microphone is on Mute.
I have seen some weird behavior when 3D sound is enabled in
the playback and you might want to see if this is turned off.
Can you record with a microphone? Microsoft has a sound
recorder in Windows or you can download Audacity and see if you can
    record to that at all.
If you can record to Audacity, then there is something
unusual here. Look at Control Panel
    System
    Hardware Tab
    Device Manager
    Sound and Video Game Controllers
Spend some time looking at each device and all settings
(double click to enter the details).
You may want to try another machine. Your issue is quite
    unique.
Hang in there - Version 2 is worth the effort.

  • Unlimited Data Vent

I have been a Verizon customer for a good many years.  When I joined all 4 of our phones had unlimited data.  Over the years the unlimited data dropped off and in order to upgrade my wife and kids' phones I had to go to new plans for them.  Due to the nature of my work, I had to keep my email on active-sync and had to keep unlimited data.  The issue is, I can never upgrade my phone, and have to pay full price, which I have done several years.  You would think Verizon would like to keep customers that pay over $400 a month phone bill, and allow an occasional upgrade.  I just inquired(again)and was told no(again).  I guess it's time to switch to Sprint so I can keep my unlimited data(and save about $200 a month.  I know their service isn't as good but the extra $ will ease the pain somewhat.  I guess the point is, Verizon has never actually done anything to want to keep me as a customer, and I know they won't miss me.  Anyway, had to vent a bit here.
So, those of you who were previously with Sprint, is the service that noticeable?

Doesn't worry you to put your business requirements at risk?  A single missed deadline because you did not have service could easily wipe away any savings over months or years.
Sprint service could be fine if you stay in major cities only. If you do any travel by car or train between cities or do work in rural areas or smaller towns, you will not be happy with Sprint. Also there are many reports that Sprint speeds are the slowest around.
How much data do you use? If you can't afford the unlimited, do you really need it. Most will say, and I agree, hang on to unlimited as long as you can. I would add, as long as it makes sense for you.
If you combined all your lines on a More Everything plan, with enough data to support your business needs, did you price that out to be a reasonable option?

  • Regarding vents in reports

    hi,
In Reports is it mandatory that we have to provide start -of-selection with end-of-selection.

    Hi,
    <b>START-OF-SELECTION.</b>
    Effect
In an executable program, the corresponding event is processed after the selection screen has been displayed and before data is read using a logical database.
    Note
The REPORT statement always executes a START-OF-SELECTION implcitly. Consequently all processing logic between the REPORT statement and the next event keyword is automatically processed in the START-OF-SELECTION event.
Immediately afterwards, the system processes the statements that belong to an explicit START-OF-SELECTION block.
    <b>END-OF-SELECTION.</b>
    Event keyword:
The END-OF-SELECTION event is triggered in type 1 programs once the logical database has finished reading all data and before the list processor is started.
Hope this makes u clear wat the vent does.

  • Macbook Pro 13" vent expels air only from the middle?

I have a late 2009 model, and I noticed that although there appears to be vents along most of the back side under the screen, air is only coming out of the middle region. Is this how it's supposed to operate? If not, could it be getting clogged by debris that has collected in there over time? I frequently have video conversations over Google Hangouts and that makes the Macbook heat up to over 80C despite having the fans on the highest setting (I use SMC Fan Control).

Seems like your battery is on it's last legs.
Or, it could be that there is a loose connection somewhere between the battery and your logic board.  This I highly doubt since you're getting a "Service Battery" notice.
To be sure, take it to the nearest Apple Store or Authorized Dealer/Service Center to be sure.
Click on the apple logo on your top left corner, about this mac, more info, system report and under power, see what it says about your battery.
You'll then know if your battery is dead.

  • POP sound come out from air vent

Hi every mac user out there,
My MacBook pro 15 inch recently don't know why, start to have a pop sound out from the back of my MacBook pro's air vent, this started after I open the below case just for checking(because last time I saw a little tiny bug going inside!), after that I heard the pop sound, in early state, sound I quite loud so I think maybe is my hand or some other thing make it, then a few day ago, there still has a pop sound but just a small sound from the vent, after about 5min of usage it will show up, any idea?
Note:my mac does not has any dust inside the fans or the vent, I haven't do any battery calibration or any rmc or NVRAM reset recently, I not over use my mac only does when editing some movie and play game ,does this affect them?

I also have this problem with my Extreme Gamer Fatilty X-Fi. In 6 channel direct mode 5. works perfectly but if I switch to the SPDIF mode connected to that Creative Digital I/O addon thing the rear left and rear right sound comes out of the front right and front left. This is with the latest drivers. I tried a clean re-install of the drivers and apps using driver cleaner but the sound is still messed up.
I guess thats an improvement in for me. With Vista 64, SPDIF didn't even work at all till the more recent drivers, so I guess you could call it progress, creative style.
I am lucky I have little need for SPDIF with this card as its not a main source of movies/TV for me. This system is mostly used for gaming, and at least that works good. Had I needed this for a HTPC or something I would be very very pissed off. If I had paid for that DDL thing I would be livid having already paid for their $4 Digital adapter addon which is rendered worthless.

  • Here's my Vent of the Day - How about one topic/thread per subject?

I see lots of topics/threads started that are exactly the same as ones already out there, and many of those could be answered if the OP would just search what's already been said, or read generally available information before posting. And then there are so many posts for which even the OP knows don't have an answer. It's just hard to wade through all these repetitive posts to find the ones that need answers or could be informative to all.
_For instance, how about a single thread for some of these_?

Keep in mind that a lot of new or occasional Discussions users are not familiar with how the Discussions search engine works & that it is, to be kind about it, more than a little quirky. For instance, even many regular users don't know that the default search box scope is different depending on the category you use it from. And compared to "smart" search engine technology like say Google or bing uses, you often need to use the arcane, 1990's era syntax mentioned in Search Tips to get good results.
Plus, users not already familiar with an issue or its terminology often have no idea how to create a good search query that doesn't produce an overwhelming number of unrelated hits.
Besides, venting & ranting are close cousins & the ToU make it clear these forms of self-indulgence are not really acceptable topics for Discussions to begin with. I'm sure a huge number of Discussions users are frustrated by all the topics taken over by such things, but {ahem} venting that frustration is just adding more fuel to the fire, so to speak.
My point may have been more clear if I hadn't somehow posted this on the Discussions area instead of the iPhone4 one, where there are continual repeats of the same topics (most of which have no answer anyway)

    Hi lolke,
I can only tell you that friend of me has Satellite L650 too and its the same, no holes on the bottom side. So everything is ok with your notebook, there is no problem!!!
I assume Satellite L650 as pretty good fan and cooling so the wholes are not necessary.
Just have fun with your new notebook! :)

  • Ventas por cuenta y orden

    Estimados,
    Gracias

    operating system  : Windows 7 ultimate 64bit
    Sir
my laptop's air vents(fan) are not working properly and has become quite noisy.
this has resulted in very poor gaming performance.Earlier(6 or 7 mounths ago) while playing games (NFS THE RUN)the fan worked with a great speed and hence keeping the laptop cool and also giving quite good framerate between (18 -25).
But when i play it now the fan remains quite rotating with very less speed and also drastically heating up the laptop. As a result the framerate droped to (8-12).Even FULL HD videos run quite poorely.
I had spend loads of time updating all the componets (BIOS,grapics, chipset everything),but it didnt fix this issue.
i even restored my laptop and updated every thing, but still the issue remaines.
i thing i should have my fan cleaned up or replaced.
pls inform me of the cost for cleaning the fan and also replacing the fan.
    I bought my laptop on 25th october,2011. from Noida,Delhi,India.

  • Black ink venting problem

3 out of 4 times that I buy the black 564 cartridge I have problems with it...Most of the problems turn out to be the venting...Yesterday I installed a new cartridge and made a printed copy and it worked fine but today I had to go through the ritual of using a knife to clean the vent AGAIN... Then had to run it through every process to finally get it to work...I think that cleaning the cartridge 3 times is what finally helped...Really frustrated with this aspect of the whole printing process...You waste a lot of ink just trying to correct the problem....PLEASE CORRECT THE VENTING PROBLEM....

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any photos of the vent area you could post here to the Forum? Also, what was the warranty ends dates on the cartridges and the country of origin?

  • HDMI and ATV Venting

    I just want to vent.
Last night we rented a movie, the movie started and just got a white screen. Turned off receiver and back on still white screen. Rebooting ATV DID resolve the problem.
I just want to say I am getting tired of continually rebooting my ATV. I have to do this quite often now that I am just going HDMI through my receiver (which is a decent quality Denon). I mostly have issues where there is no sound and the only solution is rebooting ATV. Now this white screen last night. Ugh. Just work!
I don't have any more Toslink inputs on my receiver otherwise I would use that setup as I did on my older receiver which didn't have any HDMI. I am using a decent HDMI cable to boot plus just recently reset my ATV and reloaded all updates hoping that would fix the problem.
I really hope Apple is coming out with something new...especially now that Hulu offers Hulu Plus...maybe there is still hope. Only need Pandora now...please migrate ATV to IOS.
By the way, I have had my ATV since software version 1 and Yes I have posted my frustrations through the Feedback section of Apple.com.
    Thanks for listening.

I just wanted to vent a little bit because i am, amongst most of you all here... sorta obsessed with this phone/brand otherwise i wouldn't be here...i wanted to say that i am sick of typing in google: verizon iphone and reading posts with tons of iphone bashers! Look i am in a university studying computer science / engineering and it doesn't take a friggen genis to realize that if it wasn't for apple and their "Innovative" ideas + success then your stupid **bleep** droids wouldn't have came along. I am so sick of hearing the bull**bleep** that apple is a "closed" os? look at your **bleep**! You gotta charge ur phone 3 times a day ( at least from my experience i know that is true on the incredible) and kill your friggen apps multiple times a day just to preserve it ? annoying much? oh and let verizon load your phone up with crapware while your at it.  Believe me, i can find ways around apples closed system such as other people have done so as well. So take your droid and the crappy flakey unperfected os elsewhere and get off of apples success!
    okay ~breathes~
    ahh almost time!!!

A sales and marketing professor once said something very accurate about Apple - "Apple's innovation lies not within its technology, but the presentation and simplicity of its technology"
Im sorry to burst your bubble, but Apple is in no way a revolutionary brand as far as technology goes. The technology they use has been around for years in PCs. The LG Prada beat the Iphone as far as touch screen phones go.
But Apple is a marketing genius because of the presentation of their product, and the simplicity of it
