VER 3.6.10 WHEN I BID ON EBAY FIREFOX CRASHES

JUST STARTED TO USE EBAY. SITE IS UN RELIABLE IE: WHEN I BID ON SOMETHING FIREFOX CRASHES. I HAVE TO RE OPEN FIREFOX AND SIGN BACK INTO EBAY.

Yes, apparently I was in Private Browsing mode. I guess FireFox came up in that mode when I started it for the first time. Changed to Remember History mode, Import was then usable and I was able to import my Internet Explorer favorites. Thanks TonyE...

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Firefox keeps crashing ... eg - ebay opens OK, then when go into "my ebay", firefox crashes!

    Hi there ...
This has been happening since the weekend!
For example, I go into ebay. The 'front page' looks normal. When I press on "my ebay", instead of progressing to the normal 'My ebay summary' screen, it appears to do nothing for maybe five minutes, before chaging to a white screen, the url of which is http://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbay&gbh=1.
I've had, since sunday, the same problem on other websites (facebook and others) giving similar results.
Ive re-loaded Firefox twice and also re-set Firefox.
    Anyone got any ideas?

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

  • Firefox crashes when placing bid on ebay US, not ebay Canada

I'm using Firefox 3.5.12 in Windows 7. Everytime I confirm a bid in ebay, Firefox crashes. It does not do this if I place the bid through ebay.ca (Canadian ebay). The bid does get placed. I've included the last two crash IDs

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:
    *bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the <i>about:crashes</i> page.
*You can open the <b>about:crashes</b> page via the location bar, like you open a website, or open the crash reports page via "Help > Troubleshooting Information".

Also If, for e.g. firefox is consuming 700MB of memory (with a lot of tabs opened), and if i close those tabs and leave just 2 or 3 opened, the memory usage does not drop and remains at the 700MB. I have the same sort of problem with 30-40 tabs, with memory usage growing until crash. It seems a lot worse after restarting from standby mode on Vista - it's often highly unresponsive for a while, then crashes.
I have a fair few plug-ins running, one of the benefits of Firefox.
Is their a way I can log memory use of parts of Firefox, particularly the plug-ins?

  • Firefox crashes repeatedly when I bid on Ebay

    1) Firefox crashes repeatedly every time I make a Bid on Ebay
    2) Each time it crashes there is a crash report generated to Mozilla
    3) Mozilla takes forever to load up as compared to Microsoft Explorer

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
    * https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

I get the feeling that you think I'm a developer or a Mozilla employee. I'm not. The people that answer questions here are users just like you, volunteering their time.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox ''Help'' menu and select ''Submit Feedback...'' or use [https://input.mozilla.org/feedback this link]. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

  • When I go thruFirefox to get to Ebay it works great but then if I place a bid on Ebay the Firefox crashes. This is the only time this happens.

I sign onto Ebay though the Mozilla Firefox and all goes well until I actually place a bid and confirm the bid. Then Firefox crashes and I have to start all over again. This is very annoying when I'm bidding on something.

Final Cut Express was discontinued about 18 months ago, before the release of Lion (10.7).  It is no longer a supported product and was never supported on Lion, nor on Mountain Lion.
While some FCE users have had success running FCE on Lion, many have reported problems including problems with chroma keying.   I do not recall any solution to the chroma keying problem, but you might try searching this Forum to see what others have discovered or tried.
Final Cut Pro X is the app supported on Lion & Mountain Lion, and the future direction Apple has taken.  Since your computer lab has already moved to Lion (10.7.5) and presumably will move to Mountain Lion in the future, you should begin the process of moving to Final Cut Pro X.  I appreciate there are implications for cost, training, inconvenience and re-doing lesson plans.  But technology moves on and at some point we need to move with it too.

UPDATE: I had 36 Safari windows open and minimized on the dock from my last session; 20 of those windows failed to open b/c Safari "couldn't find the server"; I just went to the URL bar of all 20 pages and clicked return, and all 20 pages loaded perfectly, without dropping any images or losing formatting. This is a puzzle!!!

  • Firefox crashes when clicked on link in instant messenger

So a friend on mine sends me a link in Win Live Messenger (the older version 2009) and when I click on it, Firefox crashes. Actually it doesn't crash and there is no crash report left behind but the menu-address-tab bar goes away and absolutely no content is shown. All I see is the orange Firefox button above-left and my Firefox skin's background. Only reasonable thing I can do is close the window.
However it doesn't always happen this way. It seems the problem only comes up when the browser is already open AND minimized. Everything is fine if the browser is not opened at all before clicking the link or if it's opened and maximized. The problem works the same way with all links, not relevant to the content type or the website.
My guess is the new Firefox doesn't like opening a new tab while it is minimized. No such problem with older versions of Firefox or any other browser.

try turning off hardware acceleration for the display driver.

  • Firefox crashes when printing a Gmail message or attachment

    ID: 911954ff-c73d-41fe-bbdb-727902140624
Firefox crashes whenever I try to print a Gmail message or attachment. Within a message, I click the down arrow and select "Print." The usual print dialog box opens, but when I click "Print" here, Firefox crashes completely.
Same thing happens if I click on an attachment and click the "print" icon...or open the attachment in Preview and try to print it.
    I'm running up-to-date Firefox 30.0 on Mac OS 10.6.8.

Hmm, it started happening again, and this time the suggestions above did not fix the problem. Last time, setting another printer as the default worked.
This time, changing the default printer didn't help. Neither did clicking the "reset Firefox" button.
I also tried shutting down and restarting the Minolta BizHub that I am trying to print to.
I can print fine to another printer.
It worked fine since June 24, my last post.

I can be on "my eBay" and just click on any other item and boom I'm on a page that says I need to sing in..if I click back it brings me back to "my eBay" and I am still singed in but if I was not to click back and I click on sing in I have a page saying I singed out.. sooo I do the obvious and clean out the cache and so on, disable all and then just some addons and try again and just to be sure I opened IE9 for the first time ever on this year old pc and it works fine so I know the problem is with FF4 but I'm out of ideas so what are my options? I dont wanna have to use IE9 but I need basic stability!!
I give a A- on the rest of FF4 & that makes this even more annoying because I want to use FF4!! I make my butta on eBay.com so I'm on all day buying & selling so I really need a quick fix or I'll have to make a quick move to Opera or IE9..PLEASE DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN...LOL!!
Please help me on this one & Thank you in advance to anyone who helps me I appreciate it allot!
