  • Compatibility issue between Netop Vision 7.2 and Lenovo System Update 4.01

I am just posting this here as an FYI.
It seems that if Vision 7.2 (perhaps older versions also) is installed, Lenovo System Update can no longer download updates. The list of updates is still downloaded and the updates applicable to the system are shown, but the actual download fails.
I suspect it may be related to how Vision 7 modifies the network stack in Windows to block web browsing. (Note that I didn't have any issues actually browsing the web with a browser, only downloading in TVSU failed).
I have a more detailed writeup on my blog: http://svenaelterman.wordpress.com/2011/12/20/software-interplay-issues-netop-vision-7-2-and-lenovo-...

  • Problem with AMD and Lenovo G510 Notebook

    Hello,
I bought a Lenovo G510 Notebook i7 with both Intel and AMD Radeon 8570 graphic cards and I have to say my (first and only) experience with AMD and Lenovo is being so far totally disgusting.
My problem is that there's no way I can make the computer use the AMD Radeon while playing, I updated the drivers (even following instructions from Lenovo Staff in this forum) and there's no way to do it. I updated it from AMD and Intel webpages and neither works. Right now I have the latest drivers from Lenovo webpage and the computer can't even recognize the AMD graphic card (in Device manager is written as OPAL GT/XL 6604).
I don't know what else to try, I've been trying to look for more solutions in the websites but I have to say they are for me totally a mess and the only thing I got was "update your drivers" once and again. I hope the service is better than the offered in the website.
    Diego

Can you tell me what Windows version are you using? And some other information.
    For example:
    G510
    i5-4200M
    4GB
    500GB
Fresh Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 x64 (means I did not update but installed fresh after formatting all partitions)
Intel HD 4600 & AMD Radeon HD 8570M
Also post a picture of your Device Manager with Display adapters expanded.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 and Lenovo

I have a question and I can't seem to figure out how to reach anyone at Adobe Photoshop.  My husband bought me a new laptop (Lenovo Yoga Pro 2, which is an Ultra HD computer with a Solid State Hard Drive).  I've downloaded Photoshop Elements 11 and when I open it, it is so small I have to get a magnifying glass to read it.  I've tried changing the resolution on the computer, but that didn't work.  I was told that this may be a problem between Adobe and Lenovo.  It is running on Windows 8.1.  Does anyone know anything about this, or if there is a way to fix it?

You've posted in the Audition forum (Adobe's sound editing software).  Perhaps some helpful Admin can move your post to a more appropriate forum.
However, for sales queries like this, you may be better off ringing the Adobe Sales people--a user forum can't help much with pricing queries.

  • VRealize Operations Management Packs for Lenovo Compute and Lenovo Network Switches

     Lenovo Systems Management Community Members:
Blue Medora is currently developing a two new and distinct VMware vRealize Operations Management Packs aimed at Lenovo datacenter technology -- a vROps MP for Lenovo Compute as well as a vROps MP for Lenovo Network Switches. Our target is to release both vROps MPs in the September timeframe. Both of the MPs will support vROps v6+. If vROps integration with Lenovo Compute and/or Lenovo Network Switches is something that is relevant to you, our product management team is very interested in talking to you about what aspects of the Lenovo-based compute and network infrastructure you like to see surfaced in vROps, models of Lenovo servers and network switches your your organization most commonly leverages, as well as any specific troubleshooting / diagnostic use cases you have around Lenovo compute and network.
Please drop us a line at [email protected] if you'd like to participate in a pre-release program for the vROps MPs for Lenovo Compute and Lenovo Network Switches.

Sorry for being a bit slow in responding. Adapting the settings for my wired ethernet adapter as rdhw suggested solved the problem. (But since I am not using any wake-on features, I simply opted to turn them off instead.)
Interestingly, I had previously looked at these settings in the BIOS and turned them off there (forgot to mention this), but it appears the Device Manager settings were overriding the BIOS settings.
So, I still find Access Connections to be slow (it will take maybe half a minute or so to figure out what is happening when I switch between wireless and wired connections), and also getting the X200 to go to sleep takes more time than it used to do (it used to go to sleep momentarily when I, say, closed the lid, whereas now it will need to think for 10-15 seconds first), but at least everything works reasonably well now.
Which is nice, and I don't want to break anything that I don't have the time to fix, so I think I will leave it at this for the time being. Thanks so much for the help (and for the prompt reply)!

  • Windows7 and lenovo licensing

Just got two new lenovo X200 and T400 shipped with OEM license.
Installed windows 7 pro clean installed through our wds server with windows 7 pro image downloaded from Microsoft.
After installation I typed in the OEM product key that came with the computer.
    In windows I try to active my product key but got this error;
"The Windows 7 Professional product key you typed is invalid for activation"
I called lenovo and they told me that the oem license that ships with the computer is a dummy number and you must use the CD/DVD media that comply with the machine.
The funny is that I got an Windows XP media with my x200
Any ideas about the windows 7 licensing and lenovo laptops?

The important point in your question is that you downloaded a copy of Win 7 from Microsoft, therefore the COA needs to come from Microsoft.  Lenovo uses Volume License media to build our preloads, and the COA numbers are not switchable between VL media and Retail media.  You will need to contact MS for the correct COA.

  • Not being able to log on because of veriface. and black screen with movable pointer.

i have s100 ideapad. it's not even a month old yet. my first problem happened last night. i was surfing when the system suddenly went really slow. even the pointer was not moving smoothly. it even came to a point when the screen was all white. i couldn't restart the pc and even exit from the browser. i tried pushing the power button but it did not turn off. it did not even sleep. the 4 lights on the corner were still on. but the screen was all BLACK WITH MOVABLE POINTER. i did not use the OKR, afraid of losing my files. instead, i removed the battery and started it up again. it worked until tonight. i put it into sleep and when i tried to resume it, veriface was not working. i tried to exit from veriface to type my password instead. but it just remained there, a solid black square. i did the same thing i did last night, removed the battery and start it again. and this time, i turned the veriface off. it's the one i'm using right now.  i just don't understand why it is happening. it's not even a month old. and i brought it brand new. can you tell me what the problem may be and give me advice on how to take care of this PC? i don't want my money to got to waste.

    hi paula
your problem could be hardware/software. lets hope its software issue first and i'd like you to do these:
if you have personal files on volume c, copy/backup them. shut down your computer, press one key recover button to perform clean windows installation. then check if the issue still persists.
if you don,t want to use okr, you can use windows restore to restore your computer to previous restore points but if it's windows/virus issue, it may not help.

  • Lenovo System Update and Lenovo Support RSS Feed (X60)

Okay. I got Lenovo System Update (version 5, for Windows 7) and it did not offer me any Critical updates. Only Recommended and Optional ones. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, so I don't want to install Recommended and Optional updates, only the Critical ones if there is any.
On the other hand I also have the Lenovo Support RSS Feed. But they bring me to dead links. For my X60 the two drivers in my RSS Feed are
ThinkVantage Access Connections patch for Access Connections Version 5.95 for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-...
    Patch module for Power Manager for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad -
    Both are totally dead links.
The tricky part is that there is absolutely no correlation between the two: totally different drivers in the System Update and the RSS Feed.

    Hello both,
SU has been discontinued because old SU version wouldn´t work with SP2.
Refer to this thread in at the ThinkVantage board regarding this situation and possible solutions

  • UML295 and Lenovo X1 connectivity issues

I have a UML295 and I'm attempting to use it with Lenovo's X1 Carbon (Model 20A) and I'm having some serious issues.  Well, my end user is.  After a restart, card is inserted and works perfectly.  I don't need to open up the MBB software, anything.  If I disconnect or just remove the device and wait a few minutes to plug it back in, it doesn't' work.  Indicator light turns green, flickers, etc.  No internet.  I open up the MBB software and shows I'm connected but doesn't go anywhere, or the software doesn't recognize that the card has been inserted.  It displays this behavior on multiple X1 Carbon machines that I have here.  I've tested it on an older T530 Thinkpad and it works as intended.  No need to install the MBB software neither.  As soon as the indicator light turns green, I'm good to go on internet access.
Is there a firmware update or a known issue between these cards and the X1 Carbon?  It's frustrating to our reporters that they can't use their new laptops out in the field.
    Thank you

USB modem devices need both drivers and connection software to facilitate a connection to the VZW network.  I suggest going out and downloading the latest of both from VZW and retesting on your machine.

Otherwise the problem that you mentioned here is specifically resolved by use of a Jetpack.  No drivers, no software.  All users need is normal WiFi and they will be able to access the internet just like at any other hotspot.  This was a big advantage for us in addition to the reduced hardware costs of broken USB ports on laptops and USB modems.

  • Windows 8.1 and Lenovo preloaded image - update to be available?

    Hi,
I work for an organisation that buys a fair few  Lenovo machines. We get them with whatever OS they are bundled with at the time and then install our own image. However, recent Lenovo machines seem to have had significant optimisations which can't be reinstated if you do a clean install, so we have been using the preloaded OS image as a base an deploying our applications on top.
Windows 8.1 looks like it may become suitable for wider use here, so I am wondering if an optimized Windows 8.1 preload will start to ship with Lenovo machines soon? And if the preload image might be available for customers who have a Windows 8 machine, to allow for a clean install without losing all the optimisations, so that we don't have to wait for the first Win8.1 machine to be delivered.
    Thanks,
    Richard

I think it's safe to say you'll start seeing Windows 8.1 preloaded system from Lenovo as soon as Windows 8.1 becomes generally available.  And I think Microsoft has said this will happen sometime in October.
However Lenovo will not provide Windows 8.1 preloads for existing systems such as T430, W530, X230, etc.  These systems will soon go end-of-life with the coming Haswell refresh.  The Haswell systems will get Windows 8.1 preloads, but existing Ivy Bridge systems will not.
Having said that, I really don't understand what you mean about "significant optimisations which can't be reinstated if you do a clean install".  Off the top of my head I can't think of anything that is preloaded that isn't available for download on our support website, except for some 3rd-party trial software like Norton, MS Office, and Absolute.  Is there anything specific that you need help with recreating/reinstalling in your own image?

  • WIn7 offline folder problem and Lenovo support there ???

    Hello,
on my T61 i do have WIN7 from Lenovo. This is working fine, I just have trouble with the offline folders.
With or without docking station I do have only 30MB datatransfer rate even it is a Gigabit LAN. Even this is slow it is fine for me.
But when using offline foders I do often get the Messager "Synchronisierung ausstehend" (means "waiting for syncronization").
In the offline folder configuration there is the selections "with slow connections work automatically offline", but this is greyed out. I changed it once via gpedit.msc, and it seemed to improve the situation, but now it is the same again.
Additionally the netowork drives are not re-connected once they are disconnected. So putting the Notebook out from the docking station and back again means that the folders are only available offline, even the network is reconnected.
Other than a re-boot I have found no solution to re-connect again!
Does anybody have an idea what I can change there ?
I wanted to ask Lenovo about this. As the win7 is an OEM version from Lenovo Microsoft is not giving any support but says that the PC manufacturer where I got the OS is responsible for any support there.
But the normal Support does not know anything about software issues and whether Lenovo does have any support there ..
Does anybody know if I have a chance to ask this question fo anybody from Lenovo ?
    Thanks and regards
    Hermann

  • Ubuntu 9.10 and Lenovo G550 problem

    Hello,
I have one Lenovo G550 recently purchased. I've tried to install Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10, but both OS wouldn't boot. I'm not sure where the problem lies, as I'm Linux newbie and all I get is a dark screen.
I haven't tried to install it into a partition (because I'm afraid to lose the "one key recovery" software), but I've tried to install it via Wubi and also tried to run its live versions. All of them ends the same way: the LCD is turned on, but shows no image. I've tried to access the terminal (by pressing CTRL+ALT+F1), but nothing happens...
Do anyone have some idea about what is happening?!
    Thank you.
Edit: I re-tested version 9.04 with no-acpi and it worked fine.

    Hi
