Verify Apple ID???

I recently purchased the iphone 6. Everything is set up from a back up. blah, blah.
I Just tried to make an in-app purchase(First time on iphone 6) it asked for my password, as always. However, a message I've never had with ANY of my iphones came up:
-----Verification Required
To help ensure the security of your Apple ID, you must sign in and answer your security questions.----
Thing is, the app store already has all my info, my apple id appears in the app store, I can click and just put in my password to view my id....
I'm very hesitant to click OK. As the app store already has all this info.
Is this a scam? Or Is this some new security feature?

It's not a scam.  It's a security feature that has been around for a while.  The first time you use an Apple ID for iTunes on a new device, the system may prompt you to verify identity with your security questions.
But hey, try this:  intentionally answer your security questions incorrectly.  You should know the right answers; you set them up.  If it 'accepts' the 'wrong' answers, then it's a scam.  If it doesn't, then it's not.  This same idea works elsewhere.  A few months back, Netflix customers were getting phishing emails.  Regardless of what password you put into the phishing site, it said they were correct.
If an intentionally incorrect password or security questions 'works', then it was a scam.  If not, it is very unlikely that it's a scam.

  • Can not verify apple id. The email on my itunes account is no longer good. How do i change my email in my current itunes account?

can not verify apple id. The email on my itunes account is no longer good.

You can change it.  At the top of iTunes, click Store > View My Account, log in with your password, View Account.  To the right of your Apple ID click the word Edit, and it will take you to a page where you can edit your email address.
You are right to avoid creating a new account if at all possible, since having multiple accounts usually causes complications down the line.

The link I provided in my first reply included:
Why am I sometimes asked to verify my Apple ID by email?
When you create a new Apple ID or make certain changes to your account, Apple will require you to sign in by following the link in a verification email. This is to help protect your identity and keep your account secure. Some Apple services, such as FaceTime and GameCenter, require email validation.
How do I verify my Apple ID by email?
Simply follow the link in the verification email that says "Verify Now." Sign in with your current Apple ID and password, then click Verify Address. You can also verify by signing in at My Apple ID. You'll receive an email prompting you to verify.
Why do you want to verify your ID? Is something asking your?

The verification email will have been sent to the email account that you put as the primary email address on the account - log into that email account as you usually do and you should have an email from Apple.

    Sue,
I had the same problem you described above with my daughter's iPod Touch. I restared the phone thanks to coolesst1's comment and then I made the first change that lllaass suggested (I didn't make the second change because I don't know enough about wifi and it made me nervous). The time wasn't on Automatic and now it is. Anyway, it finally let me sign in with the Apple ID and password.

  • The App Store won't recognise verified Apple ID

A friend has a problem on her iPad as she appears to have two Apple IDs.
On the iPad and under Settings, the iTunes & App Store shows her Apple ID as an iCloud email address. If she taps that ID to view the ID information it asks her for a password, which is accepted, and it goes into the Account window which again displays her Apple ID as the iCloud address. Tapping that again gives her an Apple ID Summary, and the opportunity to click an appleid.apple.com link to change security questions and other Apple ID details. Clicking on that link takes her to a login page on the Apple website where she can sign in successfully with her iCloud ID and password.
She then sees confirmation of her name, her Apple ID and Primary Email Address (the iCloud ID/address) which is ticked as Verified. She also sees an Alternate Email Address (a gmail.com rescue address which she set up last month) which is also marked as Verified.
    So far so good.
The problem arises when she goes into the App Store on the iPad and tries to do anything (update or purchase an app). The Store gives the gmail.com address as her ID and asks for a password for that (which she does not have). Why doesn't the store have her iCloud address as her ID - as would appear to be the case from the other information given above?
Is there a simple way to have the Store use her iCloud ID?

    Hello Andrewspackman,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
From your description it sounds like your friend has two Apple IDs, one using her iCloud email address and one with the gmail.com address. The following article gives options and steps to use one or the other or both for various iCloud and iTunes activities.

  • Unable to Verify Apple ID

Just got an iphone 4s and during setup i created an apple ID. At the end i received an email to verify, when I click on verify and enter the password it gives me this error:
This email address is already in use or you may already have an Apple ID associated with this email address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID.
Thing is I have never had an apple id, first time using anything apple related. Never even used Itunes before. I tried resetting password, and it was fine but then as soon as I log into apple store it asks to verfiy, I try again and back with same error.
I am in this loop that I can't get out of.
    Any ideas ?

    gail from maine
I tried that... Apparently i have 2 IDs, have no idea how that happen, anyways both of them are not verefied.
I have the password for both, but as soon as i log into Manage Accounts it says that the account is not yet verified, this is the case for both IDs.
It sends the email to verify the account. and when i click the link in the email it gives the above error.
There is no other way to verify account other then by email link, i have looked everywhere and this is the only way to verify.
I am better off creating a new email account and setting up and new apple id.
annoying as **** this stupid error

If I try to manage apple ID it says I need to verify.
I click on send verification email.
    I check mail
Click on link that takes me to verification page
    I enter info
    I get:

Then I changed the apple id again to my gmail. Then I changed my associated email address to match the gmail. Sounds confusing but it was very quick."
