Verify.pse in SAP Netweaver 7.4

Hi,
We have been refered to get verify.pse file from Keystore manager in Netweaver Administration tool in SAP Netweaver Portal 7.4
We are aware that we dont use verify.pse and verify.der files anymore while configuring SSO between SAP and Non-SAP systems.
We would like to ask is there any possible way to get verify.pse file SAP Netweaver Portal 7.4 as we need this for Lotus Notes 8.5
Have refered below SAP Help page Keystore Administration - Configuring the Portal for Initial Use - SAP Library but not sure how to obtain .pse file from here. All we get is .crt or .cert certificate files while exporting.
Appreciate if someone can help on this.

Hi Tsb,
The reason for this change is that transferring pse files is not supported and any more and you ideally need to use SAPSSOEXT:
Single Sign-On to Non-SAP Systems and Applications - User Authentication and Single Sign-On - SAP Library
Also, make sure that you are on the latest SAPSSOEXT as mentioned in
note 1929803. SAPSSOEXT contains example coding, as well as example data
- please first verify your solution with the sample data provided with
SAPSSOEXT.
Let me know how you get along with this; else I will help you download the pse file.

you <SID>adm user has no permissions to write this file.

Error in Java deployment step of SAP Netweaver installation

Hi Team,
We are installing SAP Netweaver 7.4 SR2.
We are using How to install SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java guide.
We have completed all steps upto step 27 without much hiccups, but during Java deploy stage, we are getting errors related to port 50004.
We have restarted the machine and continued the installation .but are still getting the error.
We have checked the heap size -- Its value is 1024mb.
Do not know what is wrong with this.
We have assigned 4 GB Ram and Paging is also set as per requirement. Previously we had used 3.5 GB RAM

Hope you are doing good.
Nice to hear from you again. It looks like P4 connection is affected:
1)
Review note 1158626 and adjust the P4 port configuration accordingly. You will need to check whether the P4 port is available. Note 1925352 will help you to check this (you can use the sapcontrol command or others mentioned to check whether host: 172.16.35.110 and port: 50004 is available or not).
2)
Make sure that there are no invalid profile files. Kindly move the profile files that are old to some other location.
3)
Also, please verify that you don't have any non-deterministic names in the etc/hosts file, per SAP note:
1134222 - Cannot access AS Java via P4 connection

Solution Manager - Logical Component for SAP Netweaver EHP2

Hello,
I installed the newest SAP Netweaver Ehp2 (with usage type AS ABAP only) for a future integrating with BI_CONT (SAP BI requirement). So... what I want to know is... I want to do an update of support packages to the latest Stack (SPS) and in this product version (NW EHP2) the latest stack is stack 06 !! But I ´m facing with a problem which is, because I have to maintain this system in Solution Manager (for Maintenance Optimizer activity)...so what I want is configure this new system on Solution Manager Ehp1 (with SPS 23) but in tcode SMSY I didn´t found this Product in Logical Components for I can apply this system to my Solution... I only see SAP Netweaver with EHP1 and not with EHP2 which is the version that I want to apply this new system. (This is mandatory task, because without it, I will not be able to download the support packages for NW 7.0 EHP2)
Tell me two things... first if this level version of Solution Manager that I have here (SPS 23) have this product in logical components, and two... if not it, is necessary to raise the level of Solution Manager support packages (to latest stack SPS 25) for I can see that logical component SAP Netweaver EHP2?!

Hi João,
You can verify if the EHP2 is available (if) in your system, this can be done once you are in SMSY -> Product Definitions -> SAP Netweaver where you should able to see the EHP2. If so, then it's a matter of marking the leading Product & Product Version under the Header Data ->Change Product Assignment where you can use the drop down arrow to select the Product and Product Version. If it's not available, then by checking the 'Free Product / Select Product Version' then use the drop down arrow to select the product & Product Version, once you selected that then click on copy and mark that as active and save.
Then you need to create a new logical component in System Group & logical Component under SAP Netweaver, then assign the system to the logical component. Once this is done you can use the logical component in a solution and create a maintenance transaction.

Hello Sarath,
here are some points you should keep in mind:
1. Download both parts of the trail version from SAP --> link to it
2. Each of both should have a size of about 1.4GB
3. Save both files in the same directory
4. Extract part1 with a zip-program like WinZip or WinRAR
5. Check that you have about 15 or 20GB of free space
6. Check that your hostname isn't longer than 13 characters
7. Verify that your computer is ping-able by the ip-adress and the hostname
8. Your user account has to be in the administrator-group of the computer
9. Deactivate the installed antivirus- and firewall-program while installing
10. If you had an older trail version already installed please check the steps in the first part of the following site to clean up your computer --> link to it ("Error code = 200...")
11. Stop all running programs, go to the extracted folder, start the start.htm, click on the entry Installation in the right navigation and finally start the Installer
12. Lean back for about an hour and cross the fingers that it will work
Also please don't use Vista - it isn't supported at the moment.

SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version - does it contain all PI components

Hello all,
Can anyone tell me if the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version found at:

contains all the SAP PI Java components?
A client is asking me to verify if this trial version contains the Java parts of SAP PI.

There isn't a PI 7.0 oder XI 3.0 version as well.
So i guess SAP will not provide a PI 7.1 Trail on SDN.
it would be to big for a local installation ... because you need ABAP and Java Stack of the Application Server.

Logon Architecture in SAP Netweaver 7.3

The data exchanged between the browser and the portal depends on the logon type. For instance:
- SPNego / Kerberos: as the user is already authenticated in the computer domain, the browser only sends a token to the portal. That token is used to verify the identity of the user
- UIDPW: as the user enters his credentials, the user Id and password are sent
- Logon ticket: when the user is already logged on to a portal and a trust is established, only the logon ticket gets exchanged.
To get a more detailed insight look at your logon case and check the SAP Help documentation for a start. That should help you getting started. To find out what exactly happens during the logon, use a tool like firebug to check the traffic and the web diagtool to get more details.

SAP Netweaver 7.3 upgradation

Dear Friends,
I have runing SAP Netweaver 7.0. Oracle 10.2.0.2 and OS is HP-UX 11i v2.
Now I want to upgrade the same with Netweaver 7.3.
I have gon through the solutin Manager , I have selected option upgrade and then my systems and gone through all the processes.
But it is only giving teh support pack files.
Please, if any one has does that share teh document and help me.

You are correct here, the Solution Manager will download only the SPs not the 'Upgrade DVDs'.
Upgrade media is to be downloaded from OSS. Please read the installation and upgrade guide thoroughly as well as verify the OS and DB release requirement and compatibility with NW 7.3
BTW, 'SAP Netweaver 7.3 upgradation' -- this is called an 'upgrade', not 'upgradation' - just to be sure we use the correct technical terminology.

How to obtain verify.pse in Portal 7.3

In Portal 7.0, I can Download the verify.pse file from the SAP Enterprise Portal at System
Administration o System Configuration o Keystore Administration.
But anyone could tell me how to do this in Portal 7.3?

I am trying to install NetWeaver on my local system. I am not able to proceed further to install SAP NetWeaver 2004's.
When ever I am running SAPinst.exe file I am getting a prompt that says "Network input/output exception has occurred: Connection reset java.net.SocketException: Connection reset" and then it will ask for host and port number. I entered the local host name and port number as 21212. then I am getting a msg saying "Could not connect to host [HOST NAME] on port 21212. java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect"
I installed all required JAVA components like Java Runtime Environment, Java SDK and JAVA JDK. I verified all environmental variables. I created a new connection with MS loopback adaptor. I disabled all other network cards available on my system. I entered required info in HOST file and SYSTEM file in %windows/system32/drivers/etc% folder.
After trying 2 - 3 times I tried to change the port number as mentioned in installation guide also ( using sapinst.exe SAPINST_DIALOG_PORT=<free_port_number_sapinst_gui_to_gui_server> GUISERVER_DIALOG_PORT=<free_port_number_gui_server_to_sapinst_gui> command in command line) . But no Luck.
Can any one help me, what else shall I do to proceed further. Thanks in advance.

There is an option when starting the sapinst program to avoid starting up an installation GUI and instead wait for a connection from a remote installation console. I believe it is:
./sapinst -nogui (or something very similar, check the installation guide)
The server will now wait for a response from your terminal. Use the remote installation program and enter the port number of the server. If you just run the sapinst program without the nogui flag you may run into some issues. And make sure your versions match up. I have run into an issue before where I didn't realize I was using a verion of the remote installation program that didn't match up with sapinst server program.

Verify.pse in CE

Hi Expert,
In NW 7.0, we can download verify.pse for non-SAP SSO. However, in CE 7.2, how can we download it? I tried /nwa/key-storage, but it can only generate .crt file not pse file. Does crt file equals to pse file?

EvalLogonTicket() with verify.der instead of verify.pse

Hi Experts,
From the sample code of SAPSSOEXT, we use verify.pse from the producer portal to parse the SAP logon ticket. However, from NW CE, we can only generate verify.der. How can we use .der file in SAPSSOEXT library? I am trying to do SSO between NW CE and Weblogic.

Hello Bert,
the verify.der contains a X.509 standard certificate which can be used to verify the SAPLogonTickets by the Backend systems in a way which is defined by the related standards.
This certificate and the corresponding private key are generated during the installation of your portal and are stored in a so called TicketKeystore.
You can find it using the Visual Administrator in the Key Storage Service. Here is the documentation:

In the Key Storage Service you can replace the current certificate and private key with your own one which you can generate using tools which support the X.509 and related standards. Or you can create a new one.
You could also request a certificate from an official trust center if you need this extra security.
So you have plenty of possibilities...
As always you have to check which is the best in your environment. If you create a new certificate of course you will have to reinstall it on every backend system which should trust the SAPLogon ticket from your portal.
On the other side, you should be carefull in creating certificates which have a very long validity (life time). Because the SAPLogonTicket mechanism relies on the public key crypthografie. The longer the lifetime of a certificate the more time there is for an attacker to eventually find the corresponding private key and thus break the security of the SAPLogonTicket. Which means he could logon to your backend system with any user id he wants...
So, it really depends on your scenario and environment.
But I hope I could give you some hints and help about the verify.der

Check the path of DVDs defined for the installation process. Ensure that no blank spaces and special characters are present in the path.
