Verify Sufficient Priviledges
When I try to install Bonjour, as it starts I get the message "Service 'Bonjour Service' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to start system services" I have SP2. My windows firewall is off, I have disabled anti-spyware, virus software. I do not have Bonjour currently installed. I am just not able to start this application. Any ideas?
I'm also running into the same issue on Vista Ultimate 64. Bonjour suddenly stopped working and won't start anymore (with the same error message) and won't install. This means I cannot use Extensis Suitcase or Adobe Version Cue and I need those apps for my work. I'm at my wits end with this problem and none of the solutions offered in this forum work (or are applicable in the first place). Do Apple people ever post around here or read their own forums?

Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to start system services.
This is the message I am getting. Why can't I get itunes to load properly??Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

How do I verify that I have sufficient priviledges to start services for iTunes?
How do I verify that I have sufficient priviledges to start services for iTunes?
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Hi txatxo
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. You may need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service. This article has instructions for doing this:

If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would recommend trying a thorough uninstall and reinstall of iTunes as described here:

I have a MacBook Pro running 10.5.8. Firefox 3.0.6 is installed. When I try to update I get a message saying that I do not have sufficient priviledges to complete part of the operation. I take that to mean a folder containing part of the application Firefox is read only rather than read and write. I know how to change that but I've looked at the obvious Firefox folder but don't know where else to look for the offending folder.
If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
* Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

I'm trying to update Firefox on my Macbook Pro, and it says I don't have sufficient priviledges, and I don't know how to fix that!

MBP = MacBookPro
Are there other accounts? Is it possible Firefox was installed on one of them?
Have you run Repair Permissions? -
I've had an 'urgent' message telling me to upgrade Firefox to 3.6.6 in order to prevent online attacks but when I try to drag the newly downloaded icon into the applications folder a message comes up saying I do not have sufficient priviledges. Can you explain why and what I have to do?
* Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
* Install the new version that you have downloaded.

I can't download Firefox 4 because my Mac says I "dont' have sufficient priviledges", and I'm the Administrator!
Click applications... utilities... disk utilities. select your drive and click "check permissions" and let it run. when this is finished, click on "fix permissions" and let it run.
This should solve your problem. -
Trying to reinstall iTunes, get Apple Mobile Device failure to start-Verify sufficient privledges error. What do I need to do.
Hey CarleneS,
First, I would try the steps in here:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
If you end up having to remove and reinstall iTunes, make sure you follow all of the steps in this link:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
This section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.
