Why is apple e-mailing me to verify my account? And why will I be locked out if I do not do so within 48 hours?

No, that email is a scam to steal your personal information. It is not from Apple.
Delete it.

Try #5.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I am trying to install itunes on my Windows 7 64 bit.
I did download the correct file of 10.1.2 itunes 64 bit.
However when I go to install the package I get the following error:

does anyone have any suggestions.
I made sure I ran it in administrator mode too.

I have tried and tried to install itunes on my mums zoostorm windows 7 64-bit pc and it comes up with this message "this installation package could not be opened, verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package" i have tried everything that i have been told to do and nothing has worked but then i try to install it on her toshiba satellite pro windows 7 32-bit as she reset it back to factor settings she has done ALL updates she had itunes on her laptop before but when we went to install it back on the laptop it cam up with the same message as it did on the pc i would really like it if someone can please help with this problem as i am getting so annoyed with it. At what point in the process are you getting this message? Have you tried downloading a fresh copy of the iTunes setup file from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ ?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Firstly make sure you save it to your hard disk, and then run setup from there.
If it doesn't help, you may also try to unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer and check if it helps. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Press Windows Key + R
2. In the "run" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.
3. Press Windows Key + R
4. In the "run" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.
Besides that, You could try to create a new user to download and install the application.
