Verifying Iphone Software

I tried to do the new update, my PC crashed. So I am now trying to do a restore from iTunes, and it has been stuck on "Verifying iPhone Software" for over an hour. I have an iPhone 3G 8GB about half full. Plenty of room on my hard drive.
Anyone know how long this should take??
Very frustrated, been without a phone for hours now...

Solution:
On a different computer device:
1) Download and install ITunes
2) Connect your iPhone
3) Complete a Restore of the iPhone by selecting Restore on the iPhone menu
4) Check the status of the iPhone - once the Restore is complete, the iPhone should be operational without your dat
5) Disconnect the iPhone
6) Go to the computer device where you originally had the issue
7) Bring up iTunes
8) Conduct a restore from Backup on the iPhone device menu (click on menu) - this will bring back your data
Please note that you do not need to have your iPhone reset at the Apple Store if this works and that setting up a separate user id on the same computer does not work if the iTunes application is available for all users on the device.

  • Iphone 3G updates stuck on "verifying iPhone software"

hello- i have talked to the iphone telephone support and have not gotten this solved. i was using an ATT aircard to connect to the internet to download the new 2.2 update. the update has been stuck on "verifying iPhone software" for over 6 hrs. the apple tech support said the aircard connection cannot be used and to go to a highspeed wireless site and try it. i have done that and it is still on that same "verifying iPhone software" step for an hr and a half. the tech support said it would take some time, but should it take this long?
does anyone know if that is true that the ATT aircard cannot be used for updating?
also, does anyone know how long it should take on the "verifying iPhone software" step?
    help me please.

About 15 minutes, tops. If you are using an aircard choose to download the update separately, then install it after it is on your computer.

  • Stuck at "verifying iphone software" for hours

i've searched for this problem before with no answers. updating to 3.0 was a mistake, it got stuck at verifying iphone software and nothing worked. reinstalled itunes and did everything. some old messages suggested i try to install itunes on another computer and try, and it worked. now i have a iphone with everything deleted off it. i used a public computer to do this.
how do i begin using my iphone back on my laptop, sync it, etc? i know i have my old pictures, etc on my old computer, can i put it back? and what the heck kind of problem is this where apple doesn't have a solution for?

Hi! This link has helped a lot of our customers:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275
If that doesn't fix it it is typically caused by 3G PC card software (Aircard, etc), Internet Service Provider communication software, or internet speed software that modify the default TCP/IP packet size. We would need to edit your registry to get this resolved. If this applies to you call us at 800-MY-IPHONE and one of us will be able to help!

  • Iphone locking up after software update. "verifying iphone software"

This is the second time this problem has happened. I plugged a nearly fully charged iPhone into my computer. It asks if I want to download the newest software. I stupidly say yes, and it backs my iphone up, installs software but gets frozen on the screen that says "verifying iphone software" for hours (it's been 6 hours now and counting). Why does it do this every time? If I disconnect the iPhone, reboot and plug it back in, it tells me I must restore it to factory settings. Fine. Restore done, and again, stuck on "verifying iphone software". I cannot keep waiting for 3 days for an appointment at the Apple store everytime my iphone needs updating. Any suggestions for preventing this from happening again are welcome.

My iphone won't charge all of sudden. All I did was the new update on the 3g phone. But it will charge using the standard cable it shipped with plus my OLD iphone plug in piece. It's just the little square plug in that isn't working. The phone is only three weeks old. I tried soft reset and that didn't work. Ideas?
What about the NEW iphone Plug in piece, or the USB port of the computer?
There have been a few other reports of failure to charge, and most have
resolved themselves (mysteriously) after leaving it plugged in to computers
for a really long time, or after a hard reset.
I haven't seen any one post that a restore fixed this, so I wouldn't rush into that.

  • Itunes and iphone stuck on "verifying iPhone software"

I just attempted to update to 2.2.1 and everything was going well until it tried to verify the software. It sat there doing that for over an hour. I have deleted and reinstalled itunes and tried to restore the phone. It is still stock on trying to verify. HELP!!! What do I do now??

Right Click this link and select SAVE AS...
    http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-5828.2 0090127.aQLi8/iPhone1,22.2.1_5H11Restore.ipsw
Remember where you saved it. Do not open it.
Hold the SHIFT key while clicking the "Update" or "Restore" button in the iPhone tab in iTunes
    On Mac:
Hold the option key while clicking the "Update" or "Restore" button in the iPhone tab in iTunes
Subsequently, a dialog box will come up which will allow you to select the firmware file to use for your update. At this point, simply browse to and select the firmware file that you downloaded.

I'm still attempting to restore it, but the process goes as follows
    - Extracting software.
    - Waiting for iphone.
    - Preparing iphone software for restore.
    - Verifying iphone software.
    - Restoring iPhone software.
It is at this point where it begins to load approxiamtely 10% and then freezes. I have had the handset connected 7 hours with no progress and this is my third attempt since Friday. Please help.

  • Problems with 2.0 iPhone Software Upgrade

I'm out of the country in Canada on business and when syncing my iPhone last night was offered an upgrade to 2.0 software. Right now, it did not go successfully and I have a lobotomized iPhone.
I followed the normal steps of the upgrade and the software seems to hang up during the 'Verifying iPhone Software' process. I let it run all night and awoke this morning with it still running. The iPhone is displaying the icon with the cable and iTunes showing to plug it in. I unplugged the iPhone and restarted the computer. Upon plugging the iPhone in, iTunes wants to Restore the iPhone. I have attempted to restore it now for 3 times and each time it hangs at the 'Verifying iPhone Software' process.
I think I'm without a usable iPhone till I return to the States and go to an AT&T store for help. Anyone else have this issue or can provide some suggestion on getting it to work?

I shut down itunes, disconnected the iphone and shut down and restarted my laptop. That seemed to fix the problem. Not sure what the technical definition is, but it worked. If this does not work, make an appointment to see a genius at the apple store asap.

  • IPhone Restore Failing at "Verifying IPhone Restore" Error -6

i have an old iPhone 3G that i use for my daughter. i took out the sim card and she could watch movies and play games. it crashed one day so i plugged it into a mac and tried to restore. well it goes through it's processes and gets to "Verifying iPhone Restore" (it completes "Verifying iPhone Software") and stops with an Error 6. I looked at Apple's page here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275 and Error 6 has to do with Windows Registry. Well i wasn't using a windows box to restore, i tried it on a 15" MBP, a 13" MBP, and a 27" imac. I have tried doing this over 30 times and get the same Error 6.
Does anyone know of a solution to this? The iPhone is about 2 months out of warranty so i cant send it in without it costing $$$.

i took out the sim card and she could watch movies and play games
While you can use an iphone as a touch without a sim card in the phone, you cannot update or restore software without a valid sim card in the phone. The sim card need not be activated(with a carrier plan), but it must be present. So, are you trying to restore without a valid sim card? If so, that's your problem. You need a valid sim card, which is defined as a sim card from the carrier the phone was last locked to or used with. It need not be activated(with carrier plan), but it must be present.

  • IOS 5.1: Stuck at "Verifying Updated iPhone Software"

    Help would be greatly appreciated:
I'm 'upgrading' to iOS 5.1, and the download seems to have gone fine. But iTunes has been stuck on "Verifying Updated iPhone Software" for about 4 hours. How do I fix this?
    iTunes 10.6.0.40

    Windows Vista (yeah, I know...)

    HEY APPLE
A reply to this sure would be appreciated!
I have the exact same issue on my iPhone 4S and I am now restoring, hopefully successfully and without losing everything.  I sure hope iCloud actually works for all of my apps!!!

Well the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.
    Good Luck

  • "Verifying updated iPhone software" message for 4 hours now, please help!

I'm trying to update to 1.1.1 for 4 hours now, and after downloading and extracting the "Verifying updated iPhone software . . ." message doesn't disappear, nor does it advance or anything.
my phone has never been hacked in any way nor have there been any 3rd party things installed. I signed up as a new at&t customer on day 2 of the iPhone release and never had any trouble till now.
I'm currently overseas and won't be back for the next month. so I've been using me iPhone as an iPod and mail device (wherever I have wireless access) since at&t isn't working here.
could that be why it is not verifying the software and "stuck" in this mode for more than 4 hours now?
I haven't gotten any of the error messages that are mentioned in the other threads, but I'm afraid to disconnect it, as I'm not sure what's going to happen.
    Please help!

never mind. I disconnected it, had to restore it to factory settings, but it all came back and now it's working with the new udpate!

  • I've downloaded the ios7 to my iphone but it didn't verify so I connected my iphone to itunes and updated it .. it's now stuck half way through saying 'updating iphone software' it's been like that for 40 mins .. should I be worried?

I imagine a ton of people are attempting to activate after the update, and the server is getting overloaded. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

  • Can't update my Iphone (the iphone software update server could not be contacted)

    Hello,
I've been trying to fix this problem by my self with no luck so I'm writing to you guys, hoping you will have the right answers.
I dropped my iPhone4 today and it turned off, when I plugged it into a charger it showed me a screen of IOS6 (which I didn't had this update updated) and when I "silde right" it wrote that I need to update it by iTunes.
So I opened ITunes while my IPhone was connected that it automatically tried to update it as needed, after 20 seconds of loading I get this error massage:
"the iPhone software update server could not be contacted"
I've tried everything; turning off firewall, update my AntiVirus, restarting my router, restarting pc while IPhone not\connected, changed usb exist (using a back exit atm),changing usb cable and even reinstalled my iTunes (yes, my iTunes is up to date), although when I tried to update my itunes it gives me this error:
"The iTunes update server could not be connacted. Please chek your Internet connection, or try again later. " but I don't think it's related but worth to mention it.
    My iPhone is NOT jailbreaked
please help me to fix this problem,
    Thanks In Advnace.

    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
