"Verifying update...." message 7.0.3 will not go away
More than 10 hrs ago, I selected to update my iPhone 5 to 7.0.3. The phone immediately displayed Veryifying update.... 10 hrs later, it still shows that message. I have tried to shut down the phone but the phone does not react to the shutodown button. Any suggestions on how to fix would be appreciated.

Updated question re PERPLEXED: Deletions will not go away
I have fixed the URL problem but the dletion problem persists. It's driving me whacko.
So here is the problem:
Using iWeb, I added two pages to one of my sites (http://www.NWBpool.com).
I later deleted those pages (called Clean Up and Clean-Up 2).
I published the latest version.
The pages I deleted (Clean-Up and Clean-Up 2) disappeared from the navigation index on the opening page (as I wanted them to do). But they remain on all other pages. They are there in both Safari and Mozilla. I have deleted the caches and refresged and they are still there. Never on the opening page but always on the navigation index pages such as Dolphin News.
I am not sure if it's something in my publishing, my iWeb or my browsers.
When I click on the deleted pages in the navigation index, I am sent to a .Mac error page saying they don't exist. I know that, which is why I want them to go away.
Arrrgh!!!! Any suggestions.
Thanks,
Richard M.
Power Book G4 - 17 inch Mac OS X (10.4.5)Thanks so much for taking a look. And you ask good questions...
There is no sign of the old Clean-Up links in any of the iWeb pages. As I said, I've cleared my laptop caches repeatedly. This has now been going on for three or four days.
I have started the laborious task of recreating the affected pages, deleting the old ones and rebublishing. It isn't as bad as it could be -- by renaming to old page, doing "select all" on the old, pasting to the new, deleting the old page and republishing. That gets rid of the unwanted navigation links on that page.
Thanks, Michael.

Richard M.
Before I go any further, I will try your suggestion about unchecking and rechecking the boxes.
What do the pages that have the old links on them
look like within iWeb itself? I've had a quick look
at your site and the Clean Up links only appear on
some pages and not others.
In iWeb I would try and go to those pages that do
have the old links and uncheck and recheck the box
that includes the page in the navigation menu and see
what happens.
If in iWeb no old links appear, then this could still
be a .mac cache problem - with patience it will
clear.

Mail Account directory Will NOT go away!
A long time ago I set up an account for my friend to use on my web server and on my local computer (osx mail app). It's long since been deleted from Mail>preferences and on the server side.
But, in the directory, users:(user-x):Library:Mail:V2:
The old account keeps generating a directory that looks like this [email protected] (the mail server IP).
This will populate with the default mailboxes like in-box, junk, trash, etc.
you can trash it and it comes back as soon as the mail app checks for mail.
How can this be if it is a deleted account on the local computer and the user has been deleted from the server side?
And how can you make this go away?rubrub wrote:
I have not messages but the icon will not go away. I have taken the battery out to try that but no luck.
Turn your phone off...then call your mobile phone number from another phone and leave a message. Turn the phone on and then go to your voicemail and listen to the message. Listen and then delete it; then press the appropriate key to disconnect from voicemail, don't just hang up. That should clear the "voicemail" icon, if not, turn the phone off and then back on. -
After the most recent FF update, FF 3.6.6 will not load, citing the error message: "XULRunner / Error: Platform version '1.9.2.3' is not compatible with minVersion>=1.9.2.6 / maxVersion". Tried updating XULRunner with no luck. Downloaded fresh copy and installed. Still no luck.

Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

My ipod touch (model A1213) is not syncing properly. I have updated the software to the latest (2.2.1) and have even resored it. Itunes says it is working and updated but will not sync and apps. Error message says that app will not sync because a newer version needed.
2.2.1 is not the latest available for any ipod touch.
Is yours the original ipod touch?
If so then:

After failed update of itunes yesterday, now will not run with error message "MSVCR80.dll not found" APSDaemon.exe will not run. itunes will not now run.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

I interrupted a software update and my macbook pro will not boot. I have tried to reboot using the startup disc, I have tried to verify the disc, and repair the disc. It tells me I need to erase and reformat the hard drive then reinstall the operating system. I do not have a back up of all my applications, my garageband music and other things. I also do not have time capsule set up on this machine, but I do have a 2 TB time capsule.
Is there anyway to back up this corrupted drive so I can restore my applications later? There's an old saying. If you don't have a backup disc, then there must be nothing important to backup. That's just lesson #1. Lesson #2 is to never interrupt a software update. Not a good thing.
OK, I'm sure you know this. It just upsets me to read your story, knowing you have a lot of important stuff on your hard drive, and didn't use time machine.
You're pretty much in a bad place. My only hope for you is to boot to your Installation Disc, then using disk utility see if you can save the internal hard drive (by fixing what can be fixed). You might be able to see your user folder and some of your apps. I wouldn't even consider copying the library, because who knows what's been corrupted in there.
Good luck. -

When trying to update my iPad to version iOS 7.0.04 I keep getting 'Unable to Verify Update' message 'Because I am not connected to the Internet'. I am connected. I have reset iPad, reset Internet connections but to no avail?
Boy sure what you are doing but the current iOS level is 7.1 not 7.0.4.
You cannot update to 7.0.4. -
I was updating the software on my iphone4. I got a message saying that it could not update. Now my iphone will not reboot. It only shows a pic to connect to itunes, but nothing is happening when i connect it. How do I fix this?
If you're not a developer then you really should not have upgraded.
I'm unsure how you can fix this as you have already done a back-up on iOS 7 and apple don't support firmware downgrades. -

I just updated to XI, but it will not accept the serial number
Hi there
If you have purchased an Acrobat XI upgrade you will be prompted to enter the Acrobat XI serial number first then the serial number for the prior version.
Which serial number isn't being accepted? Please provide more details and send me a private message with both serial numbers so I can check further.
Thanks

I downladed a game then i bought some gold on the game using a credit card. Now when I try to retrieve the gold it says I have to verify then download it. It will not let me. Any suggestions?
I was receiving the same error message yesterday, which said There was a problem downloading "The Song Name / Album / Artist". The file seems to be corrupted. To redownload the file, choose "Check for Available Downloads" from the Store menu. The file tries to download five times before this error message appears.
I too, tried to find the file and delete it, but it was no where to be found.
So I gave up for that moment and tried again today and I was able to successfully download the file. Amazing how that works!!! -
After I updated to yosemite my iMovie will not open. I have found the folders in the applications folder for both versions 9 and 10 but neither one opens when I double click on the icon. How do I remedy this?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. -

after downloading the lastest update, IOS 6, my iphone will not download apps. help
I'm having the same problems. Can't even find out if Apple is working on it. Tried to downgrade but is not supported by apple so error 3194 comes up which is verifying with the apple web site. Which then stops everything. I understand you can modify the "hosts" file to by pass the issue, but hate doing that as it gets involved. May try it if I can't get any satisfaction from apple.
