Verizion says Finders Keepers

I'm on my 3rd Droid in less than 1 year. I guess my memory isn't as good as some because when the 3rd phone came I thought I knew the drill: They send you just the phone so you need your battery and back cover. Then you send the defective phone back to them.
So Today I went to take a picture and it said it insert a smart card first. HUH? I don't remember any smart cards. It turns out it's above the battery and accessable after you remove the battery. I forgot to take mine out of the defective phone (I forgot I even had a smart card). So I called Verizon since the defective phone is in the mail, and asked for it back.
Sorry, not possible I was told but they would sell me another one for $80. Not possible? Hardly. Not profitable? I guess it would cost them some time and time is money. I wonder if they have a barrel full of these cards from dummies like me who forgot about them when they returned their Motorola junk? I wonder if they resell these?
I'll remember this when my contract is up. The only reason I use Verizon is because the reception was bad in my house with someone else. I just moved to Florida. Verizon, your short term gain will be a long term loss for you.

You would think that Verizon would be able to send your card back to you, in the name of customer service (like the Allstate Gramma's CD commercial.)  They know WHO the phone belonged to.  However, I think they are overloaded with defective phones, wiping them off and sending them out to the people who just returned a defective unit.  And BTW, one of my CLN phones still had dirt/dust inside so they don't always wipe them off. You might try calling support and see if you get one of the many really nice techs who will honestly try to help you.

  • Moto X 2nd Gen. VoLTE

Why do ridiculously old devices like the Droid Mini and Maxx have advanced calling but the Moto X 2nd Gen. does not? I don't care about advanced calling one bit. I don't use voice and data together that frequently, but for the times that I do need it, this is very annoying.

I received this in response to my questions about the lack of Advanced calling on the Moto X (20140 from Motorola Executive Customer Escalations:
"I understand your position and I am sorry it has been so frustrating for you.  Please understand that it was never our intention for the phone to be a frustration.  Verizon has decided to implement a new feature on their devices, which is why the device was released as it was.  The date of the update will come from Verizon as this is something for their devices.  We are working with Verizon and are doing our best to make this happen as soon as possible.  I understand this has been extremely frustrating and I apologize.  As I said I am working on getting a general idea or a specific date when this update will be released."
    Kind Regards,

So Verizion says it is Motorola and Motorola says it it Verizion..... Well the phone already has the hardware to be VoLTE capable.... why not ENABLE IT?!!

According to your quoted content, Motorola says the "date" will come from Verizon. That may be, but the actual "update" would come from Motorola. Verizon then confirms the update works with the devices on their network before agreeing on the date of release. If the update causes problems with the devices/network, the code is sent back to Motorola for additional work. Motorola "working with Verizon" is just another way of explaining this back and forth method of coding/testing/coding/testing. It does not mean Verizon is holding it up if Motorola does not provide a satisfactory update.

  • I found an ipod nano at my work.

is there a way that i can find out who it belongs too, there has been no calls or any response to the sign for three days.

i know this is odd but finders keepers. Well maybe tell the security desk at your work, and maybe he/she will announce it. Give it a week and if nobody claims it then keep it.

  • Locked 5th generation nano. cant unlock. top missing

I found a 5th gen 8GB ipod with the top missing. it is locked and I have tried everything to unlock it. ANY IDEAS????

Ahhhhh!!!  I see you are into the "finders keepers, lose it weeper" rule.
Call Apple Customer Relations - 1-800-767-2775.  They will check to see who the registered owner is if the iPod Nano was ever registered and then contact same.  If the original owner does not contact you in 30 days......... Post back.

  • I have a prepaid plan with verizion and want to switch my phone to an I Phone. Can that be done

My husband bought an Apple I Phone from his Co worker. He reset the phone and now it says there is no Sim Card, which I knew. So it can only make emergency calls. We are on a pre paid service with Verizion and I want to be able to use my I Phone. I can not get the ESN/MEID from the Iphone to give to Verizion. Am I simply at a loss here or is there anything I can do? Please help if you can!

Your husband really needs to speak to his co worker from whom he bought the phone and pose the questions to them.

  • Custom finders in CMP dealing with BMP Beans as parameters

    Hi all,
I need to create a custome finder method in a CMP Bean which has a parameter of type EJBLocalHome which is a BMP bean that has been already built. The problem is, I can't understand how to write the EJB-QL part of the finder. I will give some examples of my situation :
    CMP Finder definition :
    findByCustomer(CustomerLocal customer);
The CMP bean which I want the finder to be implemented has a CMP field for the Customer's primary key which is of type Integer. But, I need to pass a CustomerLocal object to the finder. How can I write a EJB-QL to this situation ?
Is there any known patterns for CMP-BMP relationships...?
    Thanks.
    Indy.

    Hi,
Your first point is, I think, is out of the question because, if you call a business method, then the bean will be loaded. That will lose the sole purpose of finders.
Second Point : There may be situations or projects that have to deal with CMP as well as BMP Beans together in a single project for reasons like the BMP beans coming from an already existing development. So, I can't really agree on your point saying that our design is questionable. We had to do it because, we had no other alternatives like changing all the BMP's into CMP's..
So, still my question seems to be unanswered....!!!!!!
    Thanks anyway,
    Indy.

  • HT4528 Why does my phone say invalid SIM?

My phone says invaild SIM. I cannot text, call, or connect to the internet!!! What is the problem??

Yes, All iPhone 5's have SIM cards... regardless of carrier.
    Remove and reinstall the SIM.
If the issue continues, get a replacement SIM from Verizon.
FYI, Verizion uses SIM's in all there LTE devices.

  • Multiple Finders???

Ok, here's the story. My Grandma's eMac apparently stopped working one day, so she brought it over to me to try to fix. So I boot it up, and it loads the OS just fine, goes through the boot screen and everything. From there, all I saw was a blue screen, with the menu bar going on and off. So I quickly hit Command-Alt-Esc to see just exactly what was running, and it shows me one Finder, and then another starts up, and then another, and then another, and so on. Has anyone ever seen multpile finders starting up one after another? Or is it the same finder, but it's crashing and automatically restarting? Any help you guys could give me to help resolve this problem would be MUCH appreciated.
    Lib.
P.S. I believe this is a 700MHz G4 eMac with stock 128MB of RAM, and a 38.16GB HD. I'm not exactly sure what OS is currently installed on it, but I don't think it's past 10.2. I'm not sure of any way to check it seeing as how I can't get through to the finder to run About This Mac. If you need the exact OS, and know a way I can find this out, let me know please. Thanks again.

    Hi Malev
The disk is labeled as 10.1.4 … I don't think it boots into safe modeSafe Mode only applies to 10.2 and later.
goes through the boot screen and everythingI take it this means it gets past the login process (either a login screen or automatic login)?
If so, you could try deleting the file suggested by George in Single User Mode. But before trying that, we could see what your logs say. We can also try to find what OS version you are running.
Start in single-user mode by holding the Command and 's' keys as you start up. Type the following commands, but repeat the first one until it says your disk appears to be OK. Follow each command by pressing the <return> key.
/sbin/fsck -yIf you don't get a message saying "your disk appears to be OK" after three or four attempts, then post back what you do see. Otherwise continue with these commands, but at any time if you feel something isn't right, you can quit by typing 'reboot' and post back here.
system_profiler | grep VersionNote the '|' is the symbol above '\' on most Apple keybooards. Write down the System and Kernel Versions. I'm not 100% sure this works in 10.1: it's been a long time. Then let's look at the log:
tail -20 /var/log/system.logPost anything suspicious here, especially anything saying "error" or mentioning WindowServer and/or loginwindow.
To get back to normal, just
rebootPost back and let us know what happens.

  • Refurbished iPhone 5s (16Gb) says out of storage space when it shouldn't be out.

My sister recently got a refurbished 16 Gb iPhone 5s through AT&T. When I went to sync her data from her old iPhone 4 (16 Gb) it told me that there was not enough storage space on the phone. Because here old iPhone was never upgraded to iOS 7, I figured that the lack of room was associated with the larger operating system (I know a few people who had that issue last September). After skimming down her photos and music, I managed to sync the phone.
However, her phone displayed a message saying that it was low on storage space. I checked in the usage menu in the settings to see that there is 0 bytes available and 12.6 Gb used. Since I watched my sister remove half of her music library and 1,000 photos, I didn't believe that the storage could be completely out. After a quick tally of the apps in the usage menu, I estimate that just under 8 Gb of memory should be used.
I'm not sure if there is some other program or part of the OS that is using up the rest of the memory (seems unlikely) or is it possible that the issue is related to the fact that it is a refurbished phone. I would greatly appreciate any suggestoions or explanations as to why this happens.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tim

........What do you mean by 'refreshing system preferences'? I just restarted my Mac before I checked but the same storage info is seen in my iPad and iPhone.
Yes, that's what I meant my restart.
What happens if you add, say a new pages document.
Hold down the alt key after opening the Finders 'Go" menu, choose 'Library' from the menu, look in 'Mobile Documents' and let me know what you see, you can look in various folders at will, but don't go moving or deleting anything. Look for any large unexplained documents.

  • Need help with an unknown "PC server" in my Finders sidebar.

Hi. I have an UFO shaped AE that have worked OK for years.
Today an unknown PC server called "amilopro" showed up in the Finders sidebar under the shared label. When I do a "get info" on it it says it is a PC server and nothing else.(I can't connect to it only get connection failed.)
I don't own a PC and I have never heard or used the name "amilopro". I have a closed private network and have never seen anything but my other MacMini under the shared label in the sidebar.
What's going on? Is someone at my network?I thought it was only my machines on my local network that should show up here.
Have anybody else got unknown computers under "Shared" in the sidebar or has any idea why this is happening?

Sorry, I posted in the wrong group. I have an Airport Extreme an not express. I cant find out how to delete the post. Bare with me. I am going to the right group now.

  • I click on itunes but doesnt open and says send error report or dont send

i click on itunes but doesnt open and says send error report or dont send

You will need to provide more details as we cannot see your computer screen. Does this happen every time you launch LabVIEW? What version of LabVIEW are you using? What version of Windows? Does LabVIEW crash? If so, what were you doing at the time it crashed?

  • Cannot install windows 8.1 on imac 5k - apple support says "Correct, that machine can't install windows" Boot camp fail

I have a brand new imac 5k, with 4ghz i7, 295x GPU, 3.1TB fusion drive.  Bought the machine so I could dual boot - I need windows for VR Dev work.
I've spent the last week and a half on tech support calls with Apple Senior Tech agents, and Microsoft agents as well, and today have been told that indeed this machine cannot run windows 8.1.  Apparently Apple engineering knows about the issue, but says the problem is microsoft's.  Ugh.
The latest iteration of the issue comes when installing 8.1 onto an external thunderbolt SSD (without even using boot camp) - I go through the EFI installer, convert the drive to GPT, format it as ntfs, but when I select the partition to install onto, the installer says it can't find the partition it just created.  Smuh?
I've also tried the install through boot camp.  This installation actually worked twice, but the install was unstable.  After booting back into osX, then returning to Windows, the windows install went corrupt and couldn't be repaired.  Subsequent attempts to install windows yielded a flurry of different errors, including "windows doesn't support GPT in this mode" or "the disk is locked, please unlock the disk" or "MBR must be converted to GPT" (where once I converted to GPT, the drive could no longer be found, despite the operation completing successfully.)
At any rate, it's a huge mess.  I'd happily return the machine for a different config, but the company I bought it from will only swap it for a similar model -- so I've spent a pile on a machine that does not function as advertised; apple says "too bad, talk to Microsoft." Microsoft says "too bad, we've never seen this, this is an apple issue."
Has anyone out there gotten windows up and running on an iMac5k with fusion drive?  If so, did you have to go through a crazy maze to make it work?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    MC

After much gnashing of teeth, and a half dozen support calls, I'd all but given up.  I finally seem to have solved this though - sort of - by installing windows 8.1 on boot camp on an older iMac, then cloning the bootcamp disk to an external thunderbolt drive via Winclone.  That worked seamlessly, sticking to winclone's instructions, and I can boot via EFI to Windows 8.1 on the new iMac.  So far so good.
I usually install W8.1 via EFI by using DU and a Free Space partition. The 3TB Fusion is first split into the underlying SSD/HDD physicals. OSX and Windows OSes are installed on SSD via EFI (no BCA). The OSX part and half the HDD are then used to create a new CS volume. The other HDD half becomes NTFS for non-Windows OS files. The Hybrid MBR method is completely unsatisfactory with the 3TB Fusion drive.
How is the TB/Winclone image for performance of the OS (since pagefile.sys is also on the TB)?
