Verizon 4G LTE Router

I am looking for a 4G LTE Router that has Gigabit Ethernet wired ports.   I found a few so far.   So I decided to also take alook at the Verizon 4G LTE Router.
I quickly looked at the user manual for the Verizon 4G LTE Router and it appears it is still using the ancient 10/100 ports.  No mention of gigabit anywhere.
Do manufacturers and service providers not realize that people are backing up mammoth amounts of data these days? 10's if not 100's of Gigs.
Network backups require using the wired ports to get enough backup bandwidth and Gigabit ports are an absolute necessity.
This 4G LTE Router looks good otherwise.  But totally fails because of using these ancient ethernet ports.

Do you see anywhere where I said I was backing up to the Internet?
This is about using wired ports to enable backups between devices on the wired ports.
If I wanted to spend a lot of money, sure, I could go buy a 4g VZ Cradlepoint for $699.
Or I could buy yet another separate device like a Gigabit Switch to clutter things up.
The point is that gigabit ports cost absolutely peanuts when you're building a device.
And with other manufacturers like Peplink and Cradlepoint putting them into every one of their 4g routers why is Verizon choosing devices without them?

  • Verizon 4G LTE Router lights flashing at the same time

Just today I noticed that some of the lights on my Verizon 4G LTE Router are all flashing at the same time and in sync. These are the lights that indicate the internet, wifi and LAN network activity. It seems it might have rebooted today as well - perhaps the firmware was updated by Verizon. The firmware running on it now appears to be v3.2.3.55. Its functioning normally right now - its just that having these three lights flash all at the same time, gives the impression that there is an error or issue with the device. Has anyone else noticed anything like this on their router?

I have to report the firmware has messed up our connection.  We have 2 of these routers.  Both would not connect to the internet for several days.  The 4g LTE connection light was blue and the signal strength showed green with occasional blue.  The devices would just not connect to the internet.  We are 9 miles from the tower but the devices had worked reliably before the firmware upgrade.  I have a support NRB (Network Repair Bureau) ticket going with several phone calls. Evidently one of the features of this firmware was a 3G fallback.  The support says Verizon will not rollback firmware.updates.  There is obviously bugs in this firmware that have negative impacts.  One of our Netgear routers has made an internet connection again but the other has not.  It's really frustrating especially when you are paying a small fortune for the data.  It worked fine before the firmware upgrade.  PLEASE fix this Verizon.

  • Verizon 4G LTE Router constantly disconnecting and other issues

My Verizon 4G LTE Router constantly disconnects. It requires a power off reset to come back on. Unfortunately, I dumped a perfectly reliable DSL connection for this. Worse yet, it is in a second home, and used to remotely monitor my temperature and security camera. I'm an not there every hour of the day to power cycle this totally unreliable device!
Also,I've had this device for a couple of months now, and have yet to be able to get my security cameras working. Now I can't even tell if my furnace is on - with winter coming if I can't monitor the temperature remotely, my pipes and well pump could be seriously damaged. What is going on with this thing????

Blazey, I appreciate you trying to help.
So, what you are saying is I have a few options:
         1) Do nothing and keep paying for a service and hardware combination I purchased directly from Verizon that doesn't work
         2) Spend $600 on top of what I have already spent to get limping along
         3) Spend $600 + buy another more reliable router that doesn't hang all the time
Where is option #4 - Verizon should fix their problem(s), or release me from my contractual obligation so I can go back to a rock steady DSL connection!
This is totally unacceptable.. I am not trying to use some 3rd party hardware on their network. I purchased this directly from Verizon so I DIDN'T have to worry about it working. They swore to me that this would be a plug in replacement for my DSL. Now after some more reading I discover it is not even close. It does not support port forwarding without shelling out another $500 for a static IP. I can assure you, I did not pay for this with ATT's DSL service. I feel duped and am pretty outraged by this.
What's worse is, I do not have "eye's" on my vacation home almost 300 miles away while this is happening. A little difficult to just "pop" over and reset it - which is what Verizon support suggested I do.

  • SLOW speeds after sw update - Novatel 4G LTE router with voice

My device auto-updated to sw 2.0 and ever since am getting 1-3 Mbps up/down. Prior to the sw update, I was getting "normal" LTE speeds ranging from 15-25 Mbps up/down.
Verizon processed a replacement (was brand new, swapped in-store) with same experience. Speeds were normal but after a few minutes of being powered on, the router auto-updates to 2.0 and slow speeds thereafter.
Phone front line has been nice but since this device is so new hoping posting here with get the attention of someone to correct this issue. Swapping for replacement devices isn't solving the problem.
Anyone else? Ideas for a fix?

Ok, I just followed JoeL and am awaiting approval. For reference, see the image of 3 speed tests this morning conducted on an LTE iPad. No other devices are connected to the router.
connected to the wireless network broadcast by the Verizon 4G LTE router - 0.6 down/up, unacceptable
connected straight to the Verizon LTE network - 34 down / 9 up, fine
    home wireless network
The 1st test should look very similar to the 2nd since both are using the Verizon LTE network

It's good to read Antoniad's post.  It reassures me that I can use my new iPad as an international communication device which is the reason I purchased the thing.  However, I called Verizon today (my provider of cellular data) who told me that I can't just pop in a SIM card as you suggested.  He also said that he was from the "Pre-Pay" division of Verizon and he was certain that I couldn't do what I planned to do.  I was extremely disappointed as I had called Apple prior to buying the iPad and I read the algorhythm on the website for choosing an iPad before purchasing.  Those sources were quite specific and the information seemed clear.  I would be able to use my iPad to communicate through cellular connections while traveling on the road, literally, abroad.  I was told that I could pop in a data card wherever I was, just as you indicated in your message above, and voila I was good to go.  The Verizon rep definitively rained on that parade, but said that I might be able to do this if I have a "Post-Pay" account, a different area of Verizon.  I haven't had the chance to talk to this division yet, so I looked to Apple's Support for answers.  Maybe I will find out that I can use my iPad as an international communication device while traveling on the road afterall, however, it appears I may need a different type of account (Post-Pay), something I was never warned about. Can I switch to this kind of account?  I don't know.  I have to find out.  If you have any information about this issue, it would be good to share since I strongly suspect there are others who bought the iPad for the same purpose that I have.

  • Verizon 4G LTE Broadband Router - Does Verizon Issue You With A Public IP Address?

    Hi,
    http://www.verizonwireless.com/home-office-solutions/4g-lte-broadband-router-with-voice/
Regarding the above Verizon 4G LTE Broadband Router, does Verizon issue you with a public IP address that can be accessed from outside of their network or do they issue you with a private IP addresss just like they do with their JetPacks?
    Thank you!

That's an excellent question olimits7! It will be my pleasure to assist with your inquiry. Our voice and data services are transmitted using a 10-digit mobile number on our network. May I ask do you have the mobile number on your account? If you are interested in a private IP address then we can discuss options. Please advise so we can begin.
    Thank you…

  • Verizon Quantum Gateway Router settings issue related to printing and wifi cameras?

    Hi,
I have a Verizon Quantum Gateway router and I just did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and am downloading and installing my printer drivers.  I connect the printer to the wifi network, 100% sure it is connected and settings are set to wireless lan.  I've had this printer for a while.  Doing the setup - it cannot find the printer.
Related: I bought a 2 pack of Motorola Focus66 wifi cameras to watch my dogs when I'm gone.  I can connect to the cameras when I'm on my ipad's Verizon Wireless LTE connection, but when I'm at home connected to my same Verizon Fios wifi I cannot view cameras.  Yes - the camera and apps support local and remote connections.
I have turned the firewalls all the way off and this does not fix the problems, so I'm believing it is in the router settings.  Any suggestions?

I had a wifi network running at my house with a PC, Laptop, 5 iphones an iPad, and an XBox all running with no issues..  I got the "Upgrade" of the Gateway router and I can connect those devices to the network but WiFi printing is screwed up and Air Printing the apple devices is totally dead..  cannot see the printer.  The customer support are completely a waste..  they suggested I pay for "Premium Support"  At this point I've invested a solid 10-15 hours trying to get this setup and talking to Verizon and its just a mess.

  • Verizon 4G LTE with Pantech UML 290 NAT breaks VoIP with mobile routers.

LONG story short.  I run a training class once a month (8 road, 4 home) called FreedomVoice University where we train our dealer network on our hosted VoIP phone system called FreedomIQ.  I'm looking to provide my own Internet solution for these classes since most hotels have inadequate (or non-working) wifi and internet.  They typically also lack a wired connection, something that would allow us to connect Polycom (RJ45 connection) VoIP phones for training purposes.  My idea was to use a Verizon 4G USB device that interfaces with a Cradlepoint CBR400 router to provide Internet to a switch that connects multiple VoIP phones.  It turns out that this scenario is impossible to use with hosted VoIP because Verizon has the 4G connection NAT'd.  When you use another router to connect the phones, now a double NAT scenario exists (premise based router providing NAT and 4G connection NAT'd) and that breaks nearly all flavors of hosted VoIP.  Verizon refuses to disable the NAT on their end, citing "security reasons" but I think it's more of a "we don't want you using VoIP instead of our minutes" reason.  Anyway, their 4G LTE service is completely useless to me in this scenario.  Verizon suggested that I turn off NAT on my end.  Apparently they are clueless as to the purpose of NAT.  Multiple devices need unobstructed internet access here guys!!!

The firmware is up to date on the Cradlepoint CBR400.  It's definitely not in the CBR400, i've already pursued that.  Even though NAT is required on my end for multiple phones, disabling NAT by setting the CBR400 to IP passthrough mode to allow the phone to pickup the DHCP address from Verizon didn't work either.  This works on a SIP softphone (Bria by Counterpath) and a laptop but not directly to a Polycom phone.  Very odd scenario... The traffic coming from the Bria app on the laptop probably looks slightly different (no QoS tagging for one) than the traffic directly from the Polycom phone, which leads me to believe Verizon is doing some specialized handling of SIP traffic when they see it (probably SIP ALG of some sort) which is breaking hosted VoIP.  For premise based VoIP it might work but a hosted VoIP scenario is different.  Since the server is in the cloud, if Verizon is manipulating those packet headers before it reaches the server (re-writing a real IP with a LAN IP for example), the hosted server won't know where the traffic came from to be able to communicate back and establish the call (SIP signal or audio session).  This is very common (SIP ALG) in today's routing devices.  This is a whole separate scenario to double NAT which I believe they are also doing.  This would explain why the SIP softphone Bria won't work with Verizon 4G LTE behind the NAT of the Cradlepoint CBR400.
Bottom line is that over the past week i've tested over a dozen scenarios with the 4G LTE and the Cradlepoint CBR400 and determined Verizon is breaking it.  AT&T iPhone tether actually shows some promise except that the Cradlepoint CBR400 isn't compatible with it via USB.  I'd be very curious to know if a compatible AT&T USB device would suffer from the same issues.  In light of my iPhone tether testing i'd have to say no.

  • 4G LTE Router & Support

I recently upgraded from a MIFI2200 3G to the 4G LTE Router (along with larger data allowance).
I was somewhat skeptical before I made the switch as the MIFI2200 was incredibly reliable and I had reasonable connection speeds (1.2-2.5 Mbs)..
However, after installing the 4G Router and having a minor issue, I called the Support folks... they were incredibly responsive and helpful.
It's now been a couple of months and I must say the router is AWESOME.  Typical DL speeds of 16-25 Mbs! and I live on the fringe of their 4G map.
No interruptions, have only had to restart it a couple of times and it covers every part of my house, including the basement.
Customer service is pretty dang good - I had an issue with the first month's billing and they resolved it with no hassles.
I can't speak to their cell phone services, as I use a different carrier, but this being the only viable alternative I have for high speed internet access, Verizon has done well by me.

    Matthew,
I got the Network extender because Verizon support said it could help with dropped calls and that it would work with HomeFusion broadband. When I called and said it didn't initialize, they sent me another one. I know now that it won't work with  the HomeFusion router and I'll be sending one back. I'll keep the one I paid for.
                                                                                                                                   Thanks

  • Yoga 13 - Wifi Issue with Verizon FIOS Advanced Router

In an effort to boost the Internet Speed for my wireless devices in my house I upgraded my Verizon FIOS router to their Advanced Router. I had noticed that all of my Wireless Devices were unable to get any more speed than 25/25, when I get 75/35 to my home. I discovered that my router was the issue. So I upgraded and was instantly able to reconnect all of my wireless devices and laptops without any issue, except my Lenovo Yoga 13. It kept getting an error that it could not login to the SSID I would give it. It would see it, but when I put in the password it would fail to connect andd give me a message indicating the same. So I thought I may need to download a newer driver. The Yoga would still attach to my hotspot, so I downloaded the latest WLAN driver. It still would not work, but I notced that it did not dump the old driver, so I deleted it and then I could not attach at all to anything. So I used another unit downloaded all off the WIreless and Bluetooth drivers I could find on the Lenovo site for Windows 8.1 and loaded them back up. I am now able to login to my new router but I get worse speeds than I did before. Now I get 10/20. But I also saw that there are now a bunch of bluetooth and wireless drivers in loaded in control panel, so before I delete any, do I need them all? Are they stepping on each other? What ones are definitely needed? Has anyone gotten anymore than 25/25 out of the Lenovo drivers? And did they ever succeed in hooking it up to a Verizon FIOS Advanced Router?
    Let me know!
    Thanks!

I went into the router and set a static IP address for the ipad (in the low 200's dont use the 100's its for your fios cable dvr's). You will first have to shutdown the ipad (not just sleep). Then delete the ipad from the connection list in the fios router. The instructions from the fios router pdf are below. I am on 24 hrs and even with wep and no fixed channel I have had no problems.
To define a new connection with a fixed IP address:
    1. Click New Static Connection in the DHCP Connections screen. The “DHCP Connection Settings” screen appears.
    2. Enter a host name for this connection.
    3. Enter the fixed IP address to assign to the computer.
    4. Enter the MAC address of the computer’s network card.
    5. Click the OK to save changes.
☞ Note: A device’s fixed IP address is actually assigned to the specific
network card’s MAC address installed on the network computer.
If this network card is replaced, the device’s entry in the DHCP Connections list must be updated with the new network card’s MAC address.
To remove a host from the table, click the appropriate “Delete” icon in the Action column.

  • What are the odd's of picking up 4g in a "Verizon 4G LTE Extended" area?

I may be moving to a area in 6month's that is listed as Verizon 4G LTE Extended area and it's right next to two places that are in Verizon 4G zones.
I have a S3 so I asked here. The area just got 4G and I don't even see it as a yellow dot on the big map yet.
If I don't get 4G then I may just have to drop verzion and go back to AT&T, becuase I can't live with the 300-400kbs I got last time I was up there.
P.S This part is a bit off topic, but is comcast better than TWC? ( Comcast is the only ISP in the area I may be moving to right now and they are not in the area I live now.)
    Thanks

I just went into the area and into the nearest town with "full" 4G LTE and it was messed up. I went into the verizon store in town that "should" have 4g and every phone in the store even the iphone 5 only had 3g . They told me the storm from 2-3month's ago did it.( AT&T 4g worked just fine) I was just starting to think maybe verizon got this network right.
I did pick up 4G LTE in the Extended area one time in one room of the home I may move into. So I guess thats a start. I would likely be more mad if I was moving there now than in 6 month's or so.
Thanks to all and I hope they fix it by the time I move.

  • Verizon 4G LTE Support

I am looking for any solutions that will allow Mac owners/users access to the Verizon 4G LTE network.
    Thank you,

Thanks to one of the Verizon support techs, I was able to fix the WMC604 error.
I take the Pantech modem back and forth between OSX and WXP. OSX always works even when WXP is getting the error.
Sort of the sate of todays technology - it works best on the platform not supported ;^)
Anyway, using ^t in the VZ Access Manager window on WXP should yield a terminal window for the modem. Type at+cgdcont? and return to see the current settings.
When going between OSX and WIndows item 1 above generally gets corrupted. My initial issue had both item 1 and 2 incorrect.
In general to get the above window place the focus on the VZ Access Manger window
From the keyboard type Control+T; the control key and t key together
    The above window will appear
In the above window type at+cgdcont? and press return
Your list will most likely not be correct - the list below is correct for me and I assume is the general settings for everyone
Based on my conversation with the VZW tech, the addresses numbers are don't care for this exercise. What is important are items 1 through 4 exactly as shown. Note, you could have nothing to something different on each line and your objective is to make them as shown above.
To correct an incorrect line, this example assumes line 1 is incorrect, type at+=1, "IPV6", "vzwims"
Close VZ Access Manager and remove the modem (most be done independently for each item corrected - not sure why)
Repeat the above for all incorrect lines. Here are the commands for each item
    at+=1, "IPV6", "vzwims"
    at+=2, "IPV4V6", "vzwadmin"
    at+=3, "IPV4V6", "vzwinternet"
    at+=4, "IPV4V6", "vzwwapp"
Hope this solves your WMC604 issues...it does for me - every time unfortunately.
Technology...never quite ready for prime time!

  • Connect hp photosmart plus b209 printer to verizon fios wireless router

Having trouble connecting HP Photosmart Plus B209 printer to verizon fios wireless router in order to access printer via home wireless network.  The WPS (push button) connection option is not available on the current software version of router (VERIZON M1424WR rev.1  (Mfg. ACTIONTEC)).  So, need to know how to connect via the PIN option.
Normally, to connect a wireless device (like this HP printer) to the network, the device would input the router's security pin (e.g. WEP key).  But I can't figure out how to input the router's WEP key via the printers face screen.  And, after talking to Verizon, there is no provision to enter the printer's pin within the router's control setup online.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks.
