Verizon BlackBerry

I am one of the admins for a fairly large company running BES 4.1.5.  My Verizon users have an option to choose between 4 devices (curve 8330, pearl 8130,8703e,8830).  I was wondering which was the best to recommend.  Remember this is an enterprise enviornment and pictures and video recording shouldn't matter much.  I pretty much rule out the pearl because of the non full qwerty keyboard.  Any help would be greatly appreeciated.
Thanks,
Joe

if you are going to allow pictures, then the curve would be the best one, they are slim, lightweight and have the newest OS. on the other hand, the 8830 is also great, they are more of a workhorse especially if you don't have the need for pictures or video recording

  • Google Maps no longer works for my Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. What is wrong with Google???

For the past 11 months, Google Maps and Gmail have worked wonderfully with my Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. Tonight, all of it stopped working. I tried to load Google Maps and failed. Kept getting the error message "Network Unavailable, blah blah blah". I tried restarting the phone, removing and reinserting the battery, until I finally uninstalled Google Maps. Now when I point my browser (OperaMini) to m.google.com to download and reinstall Google Maps, it says "Sorry the Google Maps application does not work on your 8330." This makes NO sense. Why would Google suddenly remove support for my phone? Is there a work around? Before uninstalled, I tried all sorts of tricks with editing permissions to no avail.
Also, Gmail is refusing to check mail, occasionally saying that a data connection is needed. That also makes NO sense as I have great phone reception.
My internet (OperaMini) and normal calling and texting capabilities are unaffected.
In conclusion: Is there ANY WAY to get these Google applications to reinstall and work on my phone? Or has Google screwed me over? Any help would be tremendously appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Hyun

  • How do I transfer my memos and passwords from my Verizon Blackberry Storm 2 to my VErizon Iphone 4S?

I purchased the new Iphone 4S and have successfully transferred my contacts list and setup my email account.  I would like to transfer my memos from Memo Pad and my passwords from Password Keeper on my Verizon Blackberry Storm 2 to my new Verizon IPhone 4S.  How do I transfer my memos and passwords from my Verizon Blackberry to my Verizon Iphone?  Thanks.

Contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book application on your computer, which is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. Select the same under the Info tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync and the contacts in the supported address book application on your computer which are also available on your iPhone will be transferred to your iPad.
Photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. After the photos are imported by your computer and placed in a designated folder or album on your computer, select this album or folder under the Photos tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes along with any other photos on your computer that you want transferred to your iPad followed by a sync.

  • Using a sim card w/ a verizon blackberry

i no longer use verizon, but use simple mobile. is it at all possible to use a sim card w/ a verizon blackberry?

Oh, dear. How strange. What was the point of taking the SIM out of my old phone, then? Do we  have any clue how the people at the Apple store are going to manage to transfer people's stuff? It doens't matter to me at all, btw, that I won't be able to sync music using iTunes going down the road. I can purchase stuff on the computer and then get it onto the phone by having it search for purchased items not on this phone. That works perfectly right now. But I don't want to lose my contacts, messages, documents, voicemails, and so on.
Which may mean that I'm not getting a new phone.
    Thanks for your answer, anyway.

  • Verizon Blackberry Curve to Verizon Samsung Alias 2 Not Recieving Texts?

My friend who owns a verizon blackberry curve can receive texts from my samsung alias 2, but when they respond, I can not get the texts. We have experienced this problem often and have been using the instant messenger to fix it, but it's not ideal for what we would like. This problem has happened over about a month now, and we attempt to check if it works daily. This only happens for text messeges. I can receive calls and picture messages from them. What would cause this issue? Also, we have contracts in the same area.

Which Blackberry Curve does your friend have? An issue has been discovered where customers with Blackberry Curve (8530)  and BlackBerry Curve 3G (9330) devices, are unable to send SMS messages to 11 digit addresses. This issue will also occur when replying to previous message threads that contain 11 digit addresses even if the customer addresses the message to a 10 digit address. As a temporary solution, for the Blackberry user, you should address all SMS messages to 10 digit addresses. In addition, the customer should delete any message threads containing 11 digit addresses and compose new threads using 10 digit addresses. The issue is being investigated.

so basically i want to use this blackberry but do not want to pay for internet. thanks guys. you can move this thread if its not in the right place. sorry!

If you are on Verizon, you will not use the sim card.  The sim card is provided for roaming purposes only.
With Verizon you cannot activate a BB on the network without being charged for the data plan.  Sorry.

  • Verizon Blackberry Internet Service Client (BIS)- How to create an e-mail Filter

Hello. Thank you in advance for replying to my question. I am trying to create an e-mail filter so that a contact's e-mail messages do not get delivered to my BB and instead just go straight to my regular e-mail account. I understand that you can do this function from the BIS, however when I tried to create an account I received a message that said "please use your device to access the BIS." I did just as the message told me but I did not get the same menu options from my BB as I would have gotten from doing it from the internet. The page only showed a list of my e-mails and an "edit" and "delete" choice for each one. There was no "Filter" button for me to click. I remember a while ago I able to access this page and was able to remove the BB signature (i.e.. "This message is being sent from a BB"), so I know that it was possible to access this page. I do not know why I am not able to accesses it now.
If anyone out there has Verizon and knows how to access the BIS, please let me know how. Or if you know how to create an e-mail filter function, please let me know.
    Thank you,
    Fred

    Hi there!
To log into your BIS account from a PC/browser (not the BB browser), go to this URL:
    https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw
Enter your BIS credentials and you will then be in your BIS account screen. From there, use this KB to create the filter you desire:

  • HT4528 I can't receive picture text from a Verizon Blackberry to my Verizon iPhone5

My friend and I both have Verizon as a carrier.  She has tried to send me numerous picture texts and can't.  However, she can send pictures to everyone else with no issues. I can also get pictures from others with no issues. It seems really odd. I can send her pictures with no issues.  We both rebooted and are using the most up-to-date versions of the software.  She deleted my contact info and re-entered me and still having the issue. She gets an error everytime she tries to send the text. Any ideas or suggestions?

If she gets an error when she tries to send you a picture, the she nees to contact Verizon and/or blackberry to troubleshoot it. The problem can not be your phone since it's never even leaving hers to begin with.

Setup folder then email settings select account, open it.  Go to the signature section and delete the text there and save. Or you can change it to something else if you wish and still have a signature.

  • Need to be "released" from Veizon Blackberry Server to get BIS in New Zealand??

I have a Verizon Blackberry Tour that has been unlocked.  I am now with Vodafone New New Zealand and have registered for Blackberry Internt Service with Vodafone.  It does not currently work - Vodafone tells me that the phone is registered on Verizon's Blackberry server and I need to contact Verizon to have it released from their server before Vodafone can provide me with BIS.  Verizon tells me that because I never had a plan with them, the phone is not registered on their server (not sure I believe that, but....).  Verizon has told me to contact Blackberry as the phone would have to be released from a Blackberry server.  This doesn't make sense to me ... but I can't seem to find a way to talk to someone at Blackberry to find out.  Can anyone help?

It makes sense to me, in that whoever used the device prior to you, did not "remove" the PIN from their account. Hence, the device remains registered on the previous account.
Verizon will need to do this. RIM doesn't do this. It is a common question asked here of users purchasing used devices. Call Verizon.

  • Blackberry 10.2.1 official update on my Q10

Does anyone have the Verizon Blackberry 10.2.1 official update yet?
My phone says it has the "latest" software upgrade of 10.1.0.4189.
The Blackberry website says the upgrade is available to carriers.
    Please help Verizon!

I am also having a problem updating my Blackberry Q10 serviced by VZW.
I was informed by a developer that wanted me try his latest app it required the 10.2 upgrade. That was Saturday 2.1.14. Since then I have been looking for the 10.2 update for my device, which states I already have the latest update: 10.1.0.4189.
Today I decided to do a complete wipe, after fully backing up of course, when Blackberry Link also stated I had the latest update. After a successful wipe and reinstall to Factory settings the device kept updating. Latest, according to the device? 10.1.0.4189.
Then I attached it to my desktop and connected to Blackberry Link. Search for latest update: result? I already have the latest. 10.1.0.4189!
How can I get the latest official update installed on my device? I tried everything that is in the book, so to speak. I would hate to go draconian and go to a site such as Crackberry, as good as that site is, to get an update the provider apparently has available but the applicability, and thus its download and installation, is not recognized for my device either over the VzW network or through Blackberry Link.
    Open to all suggestions.
    Thank you, in advance,
    Don L

  • My Verizon Tour is a disaster - how can I switch to Bold before my upgrade?

For the last year, the Tour has been my living nightmare. I went through 4 different tours. Between bad track balls and poor reception, none of them have worked properly.
The phone drops out all the time in my home. I live in a sunny apt. My fiancee's Iphone works fine...my old World Phone - which is too dilapidated to switch back to - worked fine. I seriously think it's the Tour phone.
I'm a freelancer going through tough times. It's additionally inconvenient that my Tour forces me outside my house to make and receive business calls in fear of the frequent call drop.
I don't have a ton of disposable income, so I've been sticking it out.  BUT  with this new Bold coming out, it looks like it could solve my problems if I could perhaps just try it... however, my upgrade doesn't come until 13 months after I bought the Tour... which is next August.  Two more months of running outside when I need to talk to someone important.
While it's true that I'd rather have a Verizon BB over an ATT Iphone, I'd rather an Iphone that works over a BB that doesn't. And I'm tempted to take advantage of the 99 dollar Iphones at Walmart.
Does anyone have any tips to help get me an earlier upgrade before Verizon loses me as a customer?  I really don't want to switch but I called Verizon, told them my situation - and they were polite but their solution was "wait it out for another two months." I guess they want me to complete my Tour penance.  It was kind of disheartening.

It reminds me of my Windows Vista experience.  I was humming along of Windows XP;  I made the mistake of going to Windows Vista, and then everything I took for granted turned into a customer service nightmare.  I hated being the complain-y guy, I'm the kind of guy who doesn't send back food in a restaurant unless the mistake is egregious.  Without quite intending to, customer service made me feel it would be better to start over with a new OS.
In this case, I'm also simply asking for the service to work again... and I think the early upgrade would be the best shot at doing the trick.  The parallel would would be if Microsoft had discounted Windows 7 after Vista had ruined my life.
I suppose I could try going off data entirely.  Do you guys know a good phone that would be cheap?  The Verizon/Blackberry combo that worked so well a year ago is not really justifying it's 120 dollar a month price.  Like the Vista situation, without intending to - because the Verizon reps have been very polite - they're making me feel like they would prefer me to start over with another carrier.
    Ugh.

  • Outlook express on blackberry?

How do I configure Outlook Express on my PC? I am using my Verizon Blackberry Storm cell for my ISP. I need all the info, I'm not very computer literate, so forgive my dumb questions. What do I need to put in the IP address, TCP/IP, modem, etc. all the information required to set it up. I will mention I have yahoo already set up on my cell and PC. Just can't figure out how to make Outlook Express work. Many thanks in advance!
    Make my Blackberry Car Holder

    Hello,
Since you admitted to being a bit computer illiterate, we can forgive you a little. Unfortunately, your inquiry makes no sense.
Your subject line indicates you want Outlook Express to run on your BB -- not possible.
Your next line asks for help configuring OE on your PC -- that's a question for an OE type of forum...this forum is for BB-specific stuff. While BBs can integrate with PC's (and such questions would be good for here), actually configuring and running OE on your PC (sans any BB interaction) is pretty much out of the realm of this site.
Your next line says you are using your VZW BB Storm for your ISP -- I don't believe that it's possible for a BB Storm to be an ISP...so that makes no sense.
Your next line says you need all the info -- what info? I can't figure out what you are trying to accomplish.
Where are you needing to put in the IP address, TCP/IP, modem, etc. settings? Again...I'm not at all sure what you are trying to set up.
Your later sentence says you already have Yahoo working on your cell and your PC...then you say you can't make OE work...again a contradiction.
So, all in all, I'm lost and have no idea how to guide you. If you could clearly state what you are attempting to accomplish, perhaps we can help...but, as it stands from your post, I'm just as lost as you are...

  • Activation Process from Blackberry to Iphone

Has anyone ported the cell phone portion of a Verizon Blackberry to an Iphone and kept the data plan with Verizon? Are there any special steps to get this done smoothly? Would it be easier to get new blackberry service with Verizon or someone else since I'll be charged with the early termination fee when I do this?
    Thanks..

Thanks for the response. I do intend to purchase the data plan with my Iphone. I'm just concerned that since my Blackberry phone number is also tied to my blackberry data plan that this will cause issues during the standard activation process..For work purposes I need to carry a blackberry so I know that I will being paying for two data plans (actually one since my employer will pay for the blackberry portion).. I just want find out if anyone has done this and the smoothest route to get my Verizon Blackberry number on my Iphone but keep my Blackberry data on the blackberry device..
