Verizon carrier update 13.1

I updated my phone to with the new carrier update but am still being prompted saying there is another update. Is this normal?

Based on press reeports, Verizon is legally prohibited from locking any new LTE capable phones since winning the FCC auction for the spectrum they were granted. It should not lock it.
This is unconfirmed, but is quite probably reliable.

  • Verizon carrier update 18.1 for iphone 6

Recieved a carrier update message pop up, clicked yes to update, and now my phone is acting strange - bad reception, slow response time, etc this was the first carrier update i recieved via pop up since owning an iphone for 3+ years. Could this be a virus?

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 6, since I updated to carrier update18.1 people now claim that my phone is breaking up and I'm only getting 1-2 bars always! I have already tried the reset network settings and that did not correct the issue! Any other help would be awesome I use my phone a lot in the house and now I can because people can't hear me due to the poor signal!
    Thank you,

  • IPhone 5 after the Verizon carrier update shows connected to LTE but data is not sending or receiving for periods of time

After I updated the carrier settings on my iPhone 5 with Verizon I've noticed that my phone shows that its connected to LTE with 4 or 5 bars showing but quite often no data is actually transmitting. When one of these periods happen I can't connect to any sites on Safari and all of my text messages trying to send over iMessage fail to send out. If I wait a few minutes it will start sending and receiving again. I've already tried to reset my network settings as well as restart my phone numerous times. I'm not sure if its related to this data connectivity issues or not but my battery seems to be draining quite fast compared even to my 2 year old iPhone 4.

I just switched to Verizon and seem to be having similar issues. I think Verizon is having more issues even after the update...now they won't be reading your wifi as billable data but that's because we can't even use it! I have to restart my phone 1-3 times per day to get LTE to work again! Seems to be whenever it goes from 3G to LTE or after I've placed a call for the most part... Working on contacting VZW tonight..this is BS.

  • Carrier Update killed my wifi

I got the Verizon Carrier update popup, followed the instructions, when the iPhone came back up, wifi wasn't working. It sees my network but won't connect. I reset the network settings, nothing. My wife's iPhone did NOT get the update popup and her wifi is just fine. My laptop connects just fine as well. What do I do now?

        Hey jonboyw,
This certainly is a bit strange. Let's see if we can get your wi-fi to connect properly because that is an important part of the phone. First off, have you tried any other networks besides your home network? Will it work then? I understand it works on your computer, but let's try your phone with another network.
Also, have you "forgotten" the network and then put in the passcode again? I see that you reset network settings, and just to make sure that went through, were you prompted to put in your passcode again when trying to connect? Other than that, is your data working well on the device? Please keep us updated!
    Thanks!

  • Is there really a "carrier update"??

my phone insists that there's a "carrier update" and I need to update the Verizon software. is this for real??

1st message was about a month ago. my iPhone 5c is using ios 8.1 and Verizon 18.0.

  • After accepting the carrier update yesterday my iPhone 5s will not receive emails via my work Exchange system.

After accepting the carrier update yesterday my iPhone 5s will not receive emails via my work Exchange system.  I can send emails, but can not receive.  I deleted my account and added it back with the directed provided by our Corporate IT, but I still can't receive emails.  I've hard booted and soft booted my phone several times to no avail.  What else can I do to help remedy this situation?

I don't have any other email accounts on my phone and I don't get any type of error message.  It just says "Checking for Mail" and I receive nothing, so I know that it is accessing my work email system.  I haven't made any changes to my account.  I only accepted the message to update my carrier system.....I do have an appointment with the local Verizon store to see if they can help.
Just FYI, my Exchange email account still works on my iPad, so I'm pretty sure the settings are correct.

  • Carrier Update = Total Texting Failure on 3GS...***

Not sure what's up here. I applied the carrier update yesterday to my 3GS and sent a picture message to my wife on Verizon and she received it fine. She replied numerous times and I never received the reply on my iPhone. Thought maybe it was a glitch with an overloaded system and I'd wait a while. Today texting is shot. Can't send or receive. Text seem to go through on each end however the texts are never received. ***? I tried to Reset Network Settings and nothing... Any other suggestions?

If you're using the port test at
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/164/tn_16466.html
it's not your machine or configuration. It's been failing for everyone for the past couple of days. Perhaps they changed the server side app without updatng the client.
Try the port testers on Flashcomguru... they're working

  • How can I force a carrier update?

I used the "Restore" option in iTunes to reset my iPhone 3G to an earlier state.  (Don't ask why.)  Unfortunately by doing so I also reversed a carrier update and now my visual voice mail does not work.  Tech support tells me that iTunes will automatically let me know an update is available and then apply it; unfortunately after several weeks and regular connections to my computer the update has still not been applied.  Is anyone aware of a way to force this update?
    What I have tried:
    - rebooting my computer (of course)
    - soft and hard rebooting of the phone
    - clicking the "Reset Sync History" button in the advanced settings of iTunes
    - uninstalling iTunes, attempting to remove every record of Apple from my computer, rebooting and then re-installing.  Unfortunately I missed something because iTunes still had my phone's backup files.
    Specific system details:
    - laptop running Windows Vista 32 Bit
    - iPhone 3G
         Network: TELUS
         Version: 4.2.1 (8C148)
Carrier: TELUS 9.0  (This was at one point TELUS 10.0, and this is the thing I need to fix)
         Model: MB489C
    - frustrated user at keyboard
    - iTunes 10.4.1.0  (most current I can find)

Alright ... thanks for the suggestions, it has taken me a few days to find a suitable time to be without my phone for a while and unfortunately these ideas had no effect.
I did a full reset again, this time I set up as a new phone.  The newly set up phone still has the old carrier (TELUS 9.0), and iTunes has not yet prompted me for an update.  How frequently does it check?  I clicked the "Check for Update" button with no effect; I restarted iTunes and rebooted the phone but no prompt yet.
For the heck of it I put a few apps on the phone (which work faster now, nice!) and basically have left it connected for a while to see if I might get a prompt (1 hour so far, not yet).
Any further ideas? This is quite frustrating!

  • IPhone isn't recognized by iTunes after carrier update.

AT&T just had some kind of carrier update on my phone which I clicked on the phone to do, no problems. Now my phone doesn't get recognized by iTunes and I've had to restore the phone just for it to turn on anymore. I hope it's nothing major, I've only dropped the phone a couple of times, but my last phone I dropped a lot and that always worked.

    Is there a current issue?
Dropping a phone is never good and can result in anything from no issues to damaged beyond repair.
If you are clumsy, put the device in a case designed to protect it.

  • Carrier update and no longer synching to Exchange

I had my email and contacts synching great with my office exchange server since the first day I got my phone over a year ago. However - since the carrier update I can not longer connect and download/push exchange email and all of my contacts are wiped out.
I tried turning the phone/wifi/etc on and off and resetting the network connections
    thoughts?
    help, please
    -michael

What version of the firmware do you have on the phone, 3.0.1 or 3.1?
3.1 fixed a security hole in the phone. With earlier versions of the firmware the phone erroneously reported to a Exchange server that content on the phone was encrypted. 3.1 no longer does this. So if the Exchange server is set to only sync to encrypted devices you will not be able to sync with Exchange unless you have a 3GS with hardware encryption and it is enabled.

  • Carrier update "ATT 14.2" on iPhone 4S. What are the details?

Recently my AT&T iPhone 4S received a carrier update to version "AT&T 14.1".  [You can see what your version is when you click on SETTINGS, then GENERAL, then click ABOUT...scroll down and look for "Carrier".]  Version 14.1 brought the amber, weather and goverment alerts.  See link: http://blogs.att.net/consumerblog/story/a7790136
But today, when my phone was connected to iTunes, it said I have a carrier update and asked me if I wanted to update and install.  I did that.  But I did not understand what the details were.  When I clicked on "Learn more"...I was brought to a link that did not help me.  Link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1970
When I contacted AT&T, they told me to contact Apple.  When I called Apple, they told me to contact AT&T.  Then they did not know what I was talking about.
Anyone know details about the update?  Thanks in advance!
I have the latest iOS for iPhone 4S (version 6.1.3) and I am using the latest version of iTunes for my MacBook Pro (11.0.4 (4)).

So they doing the ye'old monkey in the middle routine, eh? Well I'm not a monkey and neither is anyone else(!)
AT&T is saying they aren't doing it, and that if my phone decides to crap out that I will have to see if Apple will replace my phone. But she said even though they have no involvement nor allowance with this carrier version update, that it is between apple and the federal agency requesting these updates, that she will document and send the complaint to the people at AT&T that are working on carriers updates with them.
I also stated to the rep, that there is some chatter stating the updates are being implemented by AT&T. The rep denied any such information.
I also asked the rep, if there has been any customer complaints or concerns brought to AT&Ts attention today in regards to Carrier Version Updates? The reps response was "no, this is a first"
What I am experiencing: LTE or WiFi: these OTA Forced updates are unexpected and with out advanced notice.
This is the second time I've witnessed this while the device is in use that this OTAFU comes through. There is a data cap on bandwidth, so I think the OTAFU is hogging bandwidth and other resources, which in turn is making any other apps in use choke for bandwidth and other resources while the update is taking place.
I still have the Government Alerts with the 14.2 CU.
I do believe this is IOL and Data Redundancy which is causing technical debt to grow exponentially out of control.
Amber Alerts are great, useful, and helpful - but there is an App for that, a text message, and an email alert system.
Emergency Alerts are great, and useful - BUT there are many apps and signals for that as well as being broadcasted on TV, Radio, FiOS, And Cable.
Simply all too much(!) When is enough enough?
What is the backup system to the government emergency alerts system, if we are unable to access any form of electronic communications?

  • Iphone 5 new carrier update problem or glitch?

A few hours ago I decided to reset my phones data and settings. I haven't done this since I got it last year and it was acting a little slower than usual and I thought it would help the perfomance of the phone, I had downloaded a lot of apps. Anyhow I went into itunes to backup my data to icould and my computer. An update popped up saying there was a new update for the carrier. I went ahead and said okay and continued to sync my phone to itunes. Once I had reset my phone and continued to restart I went through a few setting as far as launguage, wifi setting ect ect when a Sim Card Inavalid warning popped up. It reads:
"The SIM card that you currently have installed in this Iphone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware isue with the iphone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iphone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information."
I can't get into my phone at all now all I can do is make an emergency call, start over or go back to wifi settings. I tried calling AT&T and they weren't much help. All I was told was that I could order a new SIM card. Both my parents updated their phones with the new carrier update and everything went fine. Maybe its because I went and decided to do a factory reset on my phone? Anyway I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem at all and what can I do about it? I cant go into AT&T or Apple until tomorrow seeing as it is two late but my phone is not working at all now and it makes me quite sad =(

Personally I would take it to the Apple Store cause the iPhone is still under warranty. You should try your carrier first if your not near an Apple Store and then go from there based on what help or lack of help they provide.
    Best of luck.

  • Recent carrier update in UK. What's it all about?

Got my iPhone 3Gs 16GB Black a short time ago using the usual O2. Have got the latest software update and have also downloaded the recent carrier update via iTunes. What's if for?? The O2 signal is not good in my home area and my phone now tells me with a big blue screen that my carrier has been lost (and this happens very often) and asks me if I want to change. I'm then given a choice(depending on where I am) of Vodafone, Orange, T-mobile to name just a few. Can someone explain what use this is? Is it just to enable me to make 999 calls if the O2 signal is bad? I usually get some warning and explanation of software upgrades but nothing from apple or O2 on this little beauty! Thanks

iTunes 7.7 and later has the ability to update the carrier-specific settings on iPhone with iPhone 2.0 software or later. Carrier settings updates are small files (about 10k) that are downloaded from iTunes to be installed on your iPhone. The carrier settings can include updates to the default APN (how iPhone accesses the carrier's cellular data network), special dialing codes at Settings > Phone > [Carrier] Services, default settings for Stocks, Maps, Weather, and other items.

  • What will the new carrier update (version 5.1) do to my iphone 4s? is it safe? will it delete any of my data?

I am a new to the iphone world don't really understand the new carrier update and any insight would be highly appreciated

    What new carrier update?
Carrier updates are provided by your service provider.
Are you talking about the ios update that Apple provides?
    If so, then:
    iOS 5.1 Software Update
It should delete nothing, but you should always have everything on your comptuer and backed up just in case.
Why would it not be safe?

  • Personal Hotspot option gone altogether after doing a carrier update

I was using my personal Hotspot for a month or so on IOS 8.1. I enabled it in Cellular data and everything was fine until I did a carrier update a few days ago. After that the personal Hostspot option itself dissapeared, and it went from the cellular data network tab as well. Now the 'cellular data network' tab only shows APN and MMs, not Personal Hotspot. I can't find it anywhere, Help?

    Hey Kazimraza,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, Personal Hotspot is missing from settings. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.
