Verizon customers helpless from SPOOF email spammers.

A week ago, my Outlook Inbox began filling up with returned undeliverable emails that I never sent. My computer was not even turned on when these emails were sent.  Someone was spoofing my email address to send bulk spam for viagra and porn.  I let Verizon know what was going on and asked what I could do to stop it. Their advice was to change my email password. I told them it is not my account or machine that is sending the spam, so a password change will do nothing. That did not seem to matter to them. They are not following any kind of logic, they are following a set script. They were clueless.  The Spoof emails are of course still filling my Inbox. I guess I just have to wait until the spammer has burned out my email addresses credibility for this to stop.  Verizon doesn't seem to think it's a problem :-/ Thanks for nothing Verizon.

Unfortunately this is an all too common problem.  There really is nothing Verizon or any ISP can do about it. Email protocols were designed at a time when trust between systems was implicit.  To solve this and other related problems we need new email protocols.  That isn't going to happen anytime soon. For now, a decent spam filter can help deal with these bounce storms when the happen. Good Luck.

  • Unable to find out why we can't send email to Verizon customers

All email sent from our email domain has been rejected by Verizon with the error message stating:
571 Email from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is currently blocked by Verizon Online's anti-spam system. The email sender or Email Service Provider may visit http://www.verizon.net/whitelist and request removal of the block. 150313
I have submitted numerous whitelist requests and get no response. We are a school and only email to students and prospective students. We are not blocked by any other service and our email reputation is good. What do I need to do to at least get an answer from Verizon as to why they will not unblock us?

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.
Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions.
To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".

You have Acrobat Pro on your system. It will try to open PDFs, and of course it will fail. You must uninstall it. Then, you will need a PDF reader. So install Adobe Reader. That seems quite simple, but perhaps something is wrong. If anything goes wrong with these two steps (1) uninstall Acrobat Pro (2) install Adobe Reader, then please let us know the details.

I received an email today from my other email account asking me to respond within 48 hours and the is a link to confirm my detail. The link is from an email address : AppleStore.email.customers.20.ca

Yes, it is a phishing attempt. Do not respond. Do not divulge any personal or financial information.

  • Why are my text messages not delivered from Verizon Customers to my new provider?

I ported two numbers away from Verizon and now Verizon is apparently blocking text messages from Verizon customers to my new provider.
I can get texts from AT&T, Sprint, TMobile, and anyone else. Unfortunately, I cannot get texts from Verizon customers.
I have been right next to a friend with a Verizon android who texted to my non-Verizon android, and it never got through. My new provider says that this is not uncommon.
I have been on with Verizon tech support, and while they are nice enough, they have not been able to fix anything.
Verizon, please take responsibility to fix this!

rowdyonez, thanks for helping us support Frustrated_Former_Verizon_Cust with information regarding how to resolve their text messaging issue. Let's make sure that this isn't a memory capacity issue. The first thing that we recommend is to delete all unwanted text messages and power the devices off/on to soft reset. Keep us posted. We can assist right here in this forum, too.

  • Soon to be former Verizon customers

Former Verizon customers may want to consider sending Frontier Communications an email and or hand written letter such as the example I have provided below.  It seems that Frontier has a 5GB limit on it's high speed dsl internet service tier.
    Hello,
I am one of the customers from the state of Illinois impacted by the deal that your company and Verizon have devised to divest Verizon of it's responsibilities to maintain a copper wireline network across 14 states.  I just received notice from Verizon timed to conveniently be issued after securing the approval of the state regulators of my state and 13 others.  The notice only talks about the local and long distance services Verizon offers to my area.  There is no mention about the internet services, high speed or otherwise anywhere in this notice.  Currently I pay to Verizon $29.99 a month for the 3mbs tier of service. This is the $29.99 for life plan. I am very much interested if Frontier Communications plans to honor these Verizon contracts with the same speed and level of service at the same price.  Also I am very concerned about Frontier's questionably 5GB limit of service which I keep reading about on some consumer websites. If indeed your service places 5GB per month caps on the dsl service, how do your justify having and promoting a streaming tv service www.myfitv.com? As we all know streaming high quality video tv shows and especially full length movies consumes and uses considerably high bandwidth.  I for one am not a light internet user who just does the occasional email and web surfing. I like to watch and view streaming videos. I play online only games such as World of Warcraft. And of course I do surf the web and visit many websites that may have streaming video content which again uses more bandwidth then your average website.  I also have two game systems and soon to be a 3rd that also have, use high bandwidth requirements. Such as the download of game demos and full games purchased via their respective marketplace services. So as you can see it will not be very hard to go over the 5GB limit in any given 30 day period.
So once again in closing I would just like to know how Frontier is going to be handling the internet end of their Verizon acquisition of landline wireline service.  Particularly are you going to honor the current Verizon $29.99 for life plan for unlimited bandwidth? If not then it may be time to move onto a different internet service provider as well as the cancellation of wiredline phone service.

  • Verizon techs have no idea, email disabled/suspended, can't be resolved, almost 48 hours

My email account has been unavailable for nearly 48 hours and the best and brightest at Verizon have been unable to resolve the issue. I work in IT for a living and this would be unacceptable at my location.
How is it possible that nobody (and I think I have talked to everyone in the company by now) can solve this major technical issue.
I can access My Verizon, I can access Verizon Central but I can not access my email, and I really need to access it ASAP. Shame on me for not POPing my email to my computer via Thunderbird but I guess I assumed that a company with the technical expertise of Verizon could handle maintaining an email account.
If I try to access my email settings via Verizon Central, all of the email fields contain the message "You email access has been disabled".
If I go through the Welcome to Verizon Webmail interface I am greeted with a red error message "Sorry, you account is suspended. Please contact Tech Support".
I did contact Tech Support and they are unable to resolve this issue, come on, I mean how hard could it be to trace this problem and resolve it.

I wonder if anybody in their email department knows what a SMTP header is or how to read one, it is not that hard. I used to edit/modify sendmail.cf files all the time.
You would think someone there could solve this problem. And to make things even better, many of their phone techs have really poor attitudes. No big deal for them, it isn't their email that is not accessible.
Something like this can really bug you. I pay the big V over $200.00 per month for combined services including FIOS TV, Internet, Telephone and a family wireless plan.
I guess they can afford to lose a customer because they sure don't appear be interested in keeping my business.
Sorry for the rant but I find this unbelieveable. If not for larger crisises occuring in my life at this time this would really tick me off.

  • A Verizon cellphone tower in my area is feeding multiple Verizon Customers / Devices with the incorrect time (one hour behind) when we are in range of this tower

A Verizon cellphone tower in my area is feeding multiple Verizon Customers / Devices with the incorrect time (one hour behind) when we are in range of this tower (in this specific area).   Our phones show the correct time in other areas.   Is there a way to fix or report this?

The zip code that this is occurring in is: 87102
    Specifically when I am at
    1001 Woodward Pl NE
    Albuquerque, NM 87102
Upon further investigation, it is happening to anyone with a Verizon handset, regardless of specific device.  I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and my co-worker has a Motorola Droid Turbo and we are both having the issue.  Anyone on a different carrier (T-Mobile, AT&T) is fine, and is not experiencing this issue.
It actually looks like the cell tower is feeding us the correct time, but its like it forgot daylight savings happened.  So it is feeding us the incorrect time zone/day light savings information.
When I goto Settings -> Date and Time on my Android device,  I have both "Automatic date and time" and "Automatic time zone" checked.
the "Automatic timezone" it is pulling from the Verizon cell tower is "Mountain -7".   It is correct that we are in the "Mountain" timezone, but we are currently "Mountain -6" (also known as day light savings).   So the Cell Tower things it MST when it should be MST DST
When I uncheck "Automatic time zone" and select my own, suddenly it lets me select "Mountain -6" and doesn't even give me the option of "Mountain -7".
So in conclusion, some cell tower in the area of zip code 87102 forgot that daylight savings ever happened, and is telling cellphones they are in the "Mountain -7" timezone, instead of the correct current timezone of "Mountain -6 DST"
Edit: Oh, sorry, and to answer your question, it began happening about 3 weeks ago.  We started noticing around March 25th, maybe a little after that.

  • SPAM targeting Verizon customers

I just got an email that LOOKS like it came from Verizon - it has all the usual icons and link titles - but it is a SPAM message!  It claims that I have a $905.08 bill for my latest billing cycle!  But if you put your cursor over the links, they show up as going to obvious spam sites like 'vinilrichard.com' - so watch out!

This came up a couple of weeks ago too - and it's always, ALWAYS  good practice NEVER click links in emails, even if it appears legitimate.  If the notice is from your bank or a company you normally do business with (like Verizon), just close out the email and go directly to your account by typing in the website yourself.  If all appears normal, then you know it was "phishing" to get your login and password.
Thanks for the heads up to be on the lookout - and probably a rep is going to come on and give you an email address to forward that to so they can get a look at it.
There was a similar scheme but the spam came in as a text message with a link to click - https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/792773#792773

  • If I buy a Verizon/Sprint Phone from Apple at full price can I put an ATT SIM in it and run on ATT network?

If I buy a Verizon/Sprint Phone from Apple Unlocked at full price, can I put an ATT SIM and Run on the ATT network?

    Verizon: Yes.
    Sprint: No.
Sprint iPhones can not be used on any U.S. carrier other than Sprint. They can only be unlocked by Sprint for use on non-US carriers, and then only for current Sprint customers in good standing.

  • Change Person template applied to new customers created via incoming email

    Hi,
Has anyone ever tried to change what Person template is used when a Customer is created via incoming email?
Up to now we’ve just had one “Customer” Person template and this is applied to new customers created via incoming email and via AD synchronisation.
What I want to happen is for Customers created via AD sync to continue picking up the existing Person template, but I want Customers created via incoming email to pick up a different Person template.  This template has various fields set to different defaults (e.g. it’s Organisation set to “External”, Customer Profile set as “External”).
If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ian

Thanks both for the advice.  I decided to go for the "easier" option of using INBOUNDMAILIA2 (as it's something I have used and modified a lot in the past).
In case anyone is interested, this is the main bit of the code I came up with.  Although not perfect - as it doesn't actually apply a different Person template - it does update the keys fields that allows us  do what we want.
!     /* If Call Template is 'Valuation' and the Customer is external (user has no Domain set) then set various Person attributes:
!     /*  Set custom 'Don't Email' flag to TRUE; 'Customer Profile' (Department) to 'External'; 'Organisation' to 'External' (if currently Unspecified)
         SELECT @VALUATION_T_PLATE_NAME = CUSTOM_VALUE FROM CUSTOM_SYS_OPTIONS WHERE CUSTOM_ATTRIBUTE = 'VALUATION_T_PLATE_NAME' AND STATUS = 'A'
         SELECT @TEMPLATE_REF_TO_MATCH = CALL_NUMBER FROM CL_CALL_LOGGING WHERE TEMPLATE_IND = 1 AND T_PLATE_NAME = @VALUATION_T_PLATE_NAME
         SELECT @TEMPLATE_REF = TEMPLATE_REF FROM CL_CALL_LOGGING WHERE CALL_NUMBER = @ITEM_NO
         IF (@TEMPLATE_REF = @TEMPLATE_REF_TO_MATCH)
         BEGIN
          SELECT @CUSTOMER_REF = USER_REF FROM CL_CALL_LOGGING WHERE CALL_NUMBER = @ITEM_NO
          SELECT @USER_DOMAIN = USER_DC FROM AR_PERSON WHERE REF = @CUSTOMER_REF

           UPDATE AR_PERSON SET CUSTOM_CHECKBOX_1 = 1 WHERE REF = @CUSTOMER_REF
           UPDATE AR_PERSON SET DEPARTMENT_REF = 1 WHERE REF = @CUSTOMER_REF
           SELECT @ORG_REF = ORGANIZATION_REF FROM AR_PERSON WHERE REF = @CUSTOMER_REF
           IF (@ORG_REF = 0)
           BEGIN
            SELECT @ORG_REF = CLIENT_CO_REF FROM AR_CLIENT_COMPANY WHERE CLIENT_CO_NAME = 'External'
            IF (@ORG_REF IS NOT NULL)
            BEGIN
             UPDATE AR_PERSON SET ORGANIZATION_REF = @ORG_REF WHERE REF = @CUSTOMER_REF
             UPDATE CL_CALL_LOGGING SET CLIENT_COMPANY_REF = @ORG_REF WHERE CALL_NUMBER = @ITEM_NO
            END

  • NSA collecting phone records of millions of Verizon customers daily

"Top secret court order requiring Verizon to hand over all call data shows scale of domestic surveillance under Obama"
Folks, you need to read this article.  Did Verizon protest this Obama Administration order, even going to the courts to not comply?  No word of that in the Guardian article.
Of course, now that I've posted this, the National Security Agency will flag me.
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/06/nsa-phone-records-verizon-court-order

Bozlo,  I thought the same thing, but how do we know Obama isn't gathering all the data from the other carriers as well?  I would not put it past that lying traitor.
Here's another article about it.  The is really hitting the fan today.  Yet one more Obama scandal.  I hope we take the Senate and keep the House in 2014 (I'm sure we will) and that our Congressmen and Senators have the guts to impeach this fraud.  He has trampled the Constitution and Bill of Rights...he disgusts me.

  • Search for emails sent from specific email address

We have an iSeries that has 3rd party software on it that we send invoices, notices, etc. to customers. We always use the same from email address, [email protected], and I'm wondering if there is a way to look in Exchange to see all of the emails sent out
through that email address? I have the mailbox added to my Outlook, but if I look in the Sent Items, its just blank. Is there something in Exchange that allows me to view all messages sent from this email address, even though it was sent from another server?
    Thanks.

  • Texting to verizon customers not unlimited?

For the first time ever since I've had a cell phone (so at least 8 years), my husband and I went over our allowance in texting.  It was always my understanding that texting from one Verizon customer to another is unlimited.  Is this not true?

Depends on which plan you have.....
5000 messages pluus unlimited vzw mobile to mobile messaging  - $20
500 messages plus unlimited vzw mobile to mobile messaging  -$10
    250 messages all together  -$5
If you gave the $5 messaging plan you do not get unlimited messaging with Verizon customers. Are you both using other things for text messaging like mobile IM?

It seems that shopblackberry.com always sells just the GSM models of phones, I have never seen one compatible with Verizon. It is likely mid December before the official release of the Classic, quite sure VZW will carry it.
