Verizon Deal / $100 BB Gift Card

My husband and I went into two separate locations to activate Verizon service through their EDGE program. We were hoping to take advantage of the current deal Best Buy has going to receive a $100 gift card for each new line activation and a Samsung gear headset. Unfortunately, both locations give us an error of “110 Best Buy is not eligible for phone in activation. Customer must contact provider directly for account management.” The blue shirt at the San Tan location (who was no less than irritated to even help us) told us it wasn’t Best Buy’s problem and that we needed to go through Verizon for a “credit check”.
Well, I contacted Verizon, who in turn gave us flawless approval and gave us an application number to give to the guys in blue the next time we tried it. Second time was still a no go and still we are getting this ever-mysterious error code that NOBODY at Best Buy has been able to explain. We ruled out it being Verizon’s problem with us, so I am writing this under the pretense that I doubt there’s an error code that a manager wouldn’t know the meaning of. Either there’s a serious lack of competence (if it’s “unknown”) or there’s a serious false advertising campaign rigging (nobody tell the customer the real reason). My guess is corporate sent a memo downstream and this is all supposed to be a hush situation, everybody play dumb.
From my research it appears that Best Buy has no viable reason for this to happen. I found someone online who had the same issue and pretty much had to yell and scream at Best Buy management before somebody “undid” the error and it magically let them activate service. I’m expecting the same result here and I am willing to escalate this, regardless.
The curious thing is that I am able to activate a non-EDGE Verizon plan pretty easily. Best Buy will let me do that, even over the phone! You guys are more than happy to do that and let me pay full price for my phone! But when I want to do a discounted EDGE plan AND get $200 in Best Buy gift cards using YOUR BEST BUY promotion?... That leaves the only explanation for the error as “Best Buy won’t make money on you so we made up this glitch that nobody on our team can explain.”
There’s no reason for this to not go through, which leaves this borderline extortion as the only plausible cause. I’m disappointed that nobody in either store could give me a viable reason for the code and instead tried to put it on Verizon, as if no employee had ever seen that come up or asked for clarification. I’m more than willing to activate my EDGE service through Best Buy and only ask that customer relationships be valued as highly as I think Best Buy wants it to be.
Thank you for your time

And for more clarification, here is the actual Terms and Conditions of the promotion which I pulled straight from bestbuy.com. It clearly says Verizon EDGE is an eligible program for this promotion. Verizon gave me complete approval, zero deposit, even gave me an application number.
Your move, Best Buy.

  • Where should my $100 Student Gift Card be?

Hi everyone. I purchased a Macbook Air through the Carleton University page here on Apple.ca that came with the $100 Student Gift Card towards the App Store/iTunes/etc. The problem is, is that I cannot find it or it has not been shipped to me seperately from the Macbook. I received the Air on the 23rd of June but still no sign of the gift card.
If anyone has experience something similar and they can tell me which direction to go in it would be very appreciated, or if I should wait and hope it comes at some point.
    Thanks a lot.

I am waiting for the same thing. I ordered mine (Edu MBA) on the very first day that it was announced. I've called twice on the matter. The first person said it would be along in about a week, ARO. After that time interval passed, I called Apple again, and another person said it would be 1-3 weeks after my order was placed. It will be three weeks this coming Monday. I'll then see if the second guy was accurate.
BTW, it comes as an emailed redemption code, not a physical card. You simply enter the redemption code in iTunes or the app store, as you would with the number on the back of a card.

  • I have a 100 dollar gift card, buy I am sure when I am purchasing is it taking it off my gift card or my visa card ?

I have a 100 dollar gift card, buy I am sure when I am purchasing is it taking it off my gift card or my visa card ?

I would say that the best way to ensure it's taking off of your gift card allowance (which I do believe it does automatically) is to just go into your itunes store settings and take your credit card off. When your gift card balance is out then you can put your Visa back on your account. Personally, I only use gift cards and don't put credit card info into my account for security purposes.

  • How do i know how much i  have in my account, which account is for the 100 $school gift card ?

and wheter i can use the credit to buy the app anki flashcard.

You can check in iTunes.  Launch iTunes on your computer, click on iTunes Store on the left sidebar, then click on you Apple ID on the top right (just under the search box).  In the box that opens enter your password and press View Account.  In the window that opens, under the Apple ID Summary look for "Apple ID Balance:"  This is where your balance would be if you have any.  When you're done press Done on the bottom right.  At least that's how it works from the U.S.

  • I was told if I buy my Macbook Pro in the store I do not get the 100 dollar gift card is it true?

    Is this true?

How to get your gift card:
Buy a qualifying Mac or iPad from the Apple Online Store for Education, the Apple Retail Store, or an Apple Authorized Campus Store, and you’ll receive your Back to School Gift Card with your purchase.
Seems like it needs to be purchased from Apple at one of the above options.

  • I'm trying to buy the $99/yr iOS Developer Program in Canada, and trying to pay with a $100 Mastercard Gift Card, why is my payment not authorized and failing?

    Title says all..
Program is $99 Canadian, and my card was just loaded with $100.
    Please let me know.

The problem is you can't use a gift credit card.
It has to be a card registered to you at your home address.

  • $100 off MacBook (student discount) + $100 BBY gift card? True or false?

I've been hearing that in addition to the $100 off students get on Macbooks there is also an additional $100 Best Buy giftcard. Is this true or false? Why is the giftcard being offered and is it offered everywhere? Is it to price match the $100 app card Apple is offering?

This from their Terms and Conditions. It would appear that you would not be elligible to even purchase using the education store to obtain the afformentioned pricing/deal. I don't know why going into a physical Apple Store would relax the policy. That is, unless they simply "overlook" the policy.

  • So my grandmother purchased me a useless $100 iTunes gift card....

She lives in Canada, but I live in the US. Guess what.. apparently my 86 year old grandmother just got taken for a ride by Apple. She has no computer, no cell phone, just a kindly little old lady who knows her grandson likes music/games and has some Apple products. If I put on my glasses, I can find in the miniscule print on the back of the card - but come on - she's an elderly woman who went down to the drug store and bought me a birthday gift that's now not worth the cardboard it's printed on. I've looked but cannot find anyway of using the card, short of creating a second account and "saying" I live in Canada - and even then the music I bought would be in a different account from the rest of my stuff. Any thoughts or should I send the already scratched off card by to Grams with a thanks for trying card?
    /sigh.

Perhaps a more distinctive label such as iTunes Canada or iTunes UK to delineate the cards and make the country a little more obvious to the buyer.
You can suggest that to Apple here, if you wish:
    htttp://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
Although not a satisfactory resolution I cannot fault you on your friendly and speedy response.
I would hope you would not fault me since being just a fellow user, as is just about everyone else who responds here, I can only be a conduit for the information. I have no ability to change anything at Apple.
    Regards.

  • I have an app called Dragon Vale and I used a 100$ iTunes gift card on it and then I went on it and EVERYTHING got deleted. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with game centre because my account name used to be: Dusklover123 and now it's: DusklOver123

And I tried to change it back but it said the game centre name is already in use.

IIam sorry but I think u have got hacked contact support on this ... The only way someone can change you're name is to acess your account and thro there they can change it

  • Gift Card bought from Authorized Dealer

So I was given a gift card from Verizon worth $100..Apparently, I wanted to use it to buy a new phone but Verizon didnt want to accept it because the gift card was bought from an Authorized Dealer. The gift card was CLEARLY a Verizon card, so my question is WHY cant I use it for a purchase to another Verizon store other than the one where the gift card was bought? The store where the gift card was bought is a Verizon Store, so it confuses people BIG TIME because the bigger Verizon store says its not actually a Verizon store! Which is which?!

Hello frencchy,  I apologize for the inconvenience and the confusion. Does the gift card have any branding other than Verizon Wireless?  Did the corporate location attempt to run the gift card for payment?  You can also try to use the gift card on http://www.vzw.com/myverizon to see if it will be valid.  Please keep me updated on the status.
    Thank you,

  • No £100 gift card

    Hi
I purchased broadband infinity online and had it installed on 4th April. When I took out the deal the website said I would be able to claim a £100 sainsburys gift card. I applied online for this the same day.
It did not arrive after 45 days. I contacted BT and you said it would arrive within two weeks. The voucher is still not here.
How do I get this gift card?!
    Thanks
    Michael

  • $200 Trade In Gift Card Offer with Verizon Edge

I was informed by two Best Buy associates that I could trade in any working smartphone for a $200 gift card that could be applied toward a purchase of a Galaxy S5 or a Note 4.  Both associates told me that the gift card could be used for a two year contract renewal or the Verizon Edge program.  If I chose to go with Verizon Edge then the gift card and any cash that I wanted to put toward the retail cost of the phone would be applied before the net difference was spread over a 24 month period and would reduce the monthly amount payable to Verizon for the phone cost.  .
I bought a black Note 4 last week and renewed for two years at that time but the Edge program was offered at that time and I was told it would be reduced with the $200 gift card from the trade in.   I went back to my local Best Buy store to return it because they now had a white phone in stock which they did not have last week.  Also, since last week Verizon has also reduced their data plans and I now have a 10GB plan so wold qualify for the $25 discount per phone line instead of $15 with the 6GB plan.   When I went to return the phone I told the representative what I wanted to accomplish and they said it would be no problem to apply the gift card, cash and change to the Edge plan.
When it got to the point to apply the gift card from the return and the cash I had previously paid they told me they could not do that and I would have to either pay the full retail price for the phone or spread the $749.99 cost across 24 months. They showed me on their screen that they did not have the capability to apply the payment.
Why was I told by two other associates that this was possible and was the representative tonight correct in saying it is not possible to apply the reduction.  She did say that if I had bad credit and Verizon required a down payment  that she could then accept a payment to reduce the cost of the phone but becuase I had good credit she could not do so. She then offered to put the price of the phone on a credit card which I would then have to pay monthly.
    Please advise.

    Greetings djcarree,
I realize this may not be the answer you were hoping for, but avm5689 is correct: Best Buy gift cards cannot be applied as payment towards devices on Verizon Edge, AT&T Next, or Sprint Easy Pay plans. To apply any gift card to the purchase of a mobile phone, customers must purchase the device as a traditional upgrade (incurring any applicable activation fees) or as a replacement device at its full retail price. Full details on how Verizon Edge plans work can be found here:
    Common Questions About Verizon EDGE
That said, it's disappointing to read you may have received misinformation regarding available payment options during your initial visit. We rely on our in-store reps to provide accurate and detailed information on our partner's services and our own policies, so it's disconcerting to learn of situations where that expectation may not have been met.
If you're still in need of assistance and have not already done so, I'd encourage you to return to your local store when the have the chance. As I mentioned above, you'll need to re-purchase your Note 4 as either a replacement device or traditional upgrade in order to apply your trade-in gift cards towards the sale. Please also note that mobile phones can only be returned or exchanged within 14 days of the purchase date, and that additional carrier restrictions may apply.
