This would be a great marketing idea for Verizon...
For those of us who "defected" (I was a long time Verizon ((previously GTE MobileNet)) customer) Verizon to purchase an iPhone with a more than sub-par provider, can now be offered a "come back home" or a RETURN to the "most reliable network" offer would really blow at&t's socks off!
This is a new and never before seen offer in the wireless industry...be the first!!!

at&t and verizon arent animals..... they arent making random plans to kill each others business to become a monopoly lol

Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Where did you acquire this iPhone?
What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier?

Moved picture folders around now won't sync with iPhone

I recently moved around some pictures and now most of my pictures will not sync to my iPhone.
I have tried deleting the photo cache, moving pictures into a single folder and resetting the sync history, uninstalled iTunes, restored phone, copied all my photos to another location, and each time I get an error that that my iPhone can't be read or written to or the device times out.
The strangest thing is most of the folders or pictures it doesn't seem to like were pictures that were on the phone previously or were not touched when I moved stuff around.
I am running Vista and have even tried single folders and that works for some but most error out.
Any help would be appreciated.

First, make sure that the songs play in iTunes on your computer. If so, right-click and choose "create AAC version." Use the new AAC version with your iPhone.

Ipad sync with PC when setup now want to sync with other computer

HEllo.
I bought my mom a iPAD 2 and set with her PC and the itunes on her PC.
Now I have the iPAD and need to sysnc with my family accouant.
I can not lose the pictures i took with the ipad.
What do i do ?

Not entirely sure about iPhoto as I don't have a mac, but when syncing from folder(s) only the contents of the most recent sync will be on the iPad - but I assume that iPhoto will be the same and will therefore remove the previous sync before putting the ones on. He also won't be able to copy them off before syncing as you can only do that with photos loaded via the camera connection kit or saved from emails/websties.

I have had an iphone for about 8 months and had a Dell pc which I used to sync the phone with itunes. Just purchased my imac and have been trying to transfer my iphone contacts, addresses, music, photos, etc and my ipod music to the mac computer itunes program. I have successfully transfered my email addresses to the mac email program. I have moved my music and photos to my mac, but now want to sync. my iphone with the mac and find that the sync. is only 1 way on the first attempt and that is from the mac to the iphone. Can anybody help and tell me how to get my phone contacts from my iphone or from my tunes on my Dell to my mac itunes program so that I don't wipe out my phone contacts with that first sync on the imac.

As long as you have at least ONE uniques contact and calendar entry in your Mac, you should get the option to merge the data when you first sync.

Itunes not syncing with iphone & apple tv not seeing itunes

Recently installed itunes 10.4, now itunes wont sync with iphone and apple TV 2 cannot see itunes on a wired network. The error message says Apple Mobile Device has not started - confirmed that apple mobile device did start. With upgraded itunes apple tv cannot see the itunes library on a wired or wireless network.
Reinstalled itunes several times now, and nothing changes. Using pc, windows vista, outlook 2007.
Any suggestions on how to fix these problems?

Sure it's selcted, it's just not being stored in my iPhone's iTunes library as its stored on my macbook's iTunes library. I've dragged it to where I want it and it still won't store. I havne't needed to connect them with a cable since late last year I think with the new iTunes and updates, and you shouldn't have to. But this is frustrating, I finally found a way to get Tool on iTunes and I can't get it stored on my iPhone.

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me. Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone. Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos,etc) , your contacts and your calendars. So do NOT sync yet. This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data. Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync. They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.

There is no way to stop iTunes from doing exactly what it is designed to do.
The iPhone is designed to sync with one and only one computer.
If you have moved/copied your iTunes library from your old computer to your new one, then iTunes wiping your device is no problem. You would simply sync and iTunes will put all the content back.
