Verizon email and Outlook 10

I just spent 30 minutes online with Verizon customer service trying to set up Outlook 10 to download my verizon.net email. The agent wasn't able to make it work, so he told me to contact Microsoft. After some more adjusting, I was finally able to get the outgoing test message to send (I can see it in my inbox when I access my account online), but I'm still getting an error message when I try to download messages to Outlook. All of the settings in Outlook match the settings recommended by Verizon. I had no problems with this until I upgraded from Outlook 07 to Outlook 10. Any ideas on what to try next?

Well, I Googled my problem and solved it. It was a setting in my Avast anti-virus program that was causing problems. Too bad Verizon customer support wasn't aware of the conflict!

Verizon Email and Domain Services Failure

On January 10th, I ordered Domain Services to keep my verizon email address ([email protected]). On February 3rd, my number was ported to a new carrier (VOIP) and turns out by doing that it caused my phone and internet services to be canceled on the 4th. I wasn't aware this would happen, as I expected verizon to assign me a new number. However, in the process, they also disabled my email account that was suppose to be kept active through Domain Services. I have been on the phone now for 2 hours today and probably and hour yesterday trying to resolve this issue. Been through numerous departments, tech support, billing, domain services, new services, and others I totally forget now. Domain services told the verizon tech support agent that it needed escallated to OSE Teir 2 support, however seems he talked to one of his other contacts and they said that would not work so he did not follow through with that. The last stage was talking to new service rep and she stated that I had to create new phone/internet service because my account has been disabled since the 4th and then move the email address to the new active service but I have my doubts on that as well. I got fed up so I ended up just hanging up the phone. I will need to call them later and hopefully get somebody that knows what is going on.
Either way, my $20 fee for keeping my email account active is now costing Verizon more than that since I will be keep their support reps busy for probably another 5 hours or more. And I will continue to fight with them until this is resolved since I didn't bother changing my email address for my accounts tied to my verizon account since I.
If anybody knows how to get this resolved expediently, I would love to hear from you.

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board. you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information.
To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

Verizon email to Outlook

I have created my Outlook 2007 account and all my current emails are transferred.
How do I transfer all my miscellaneous folders with the emails in each over to my Outlook 2007?

Personal folders in the Verizon webmail will not be downloaded to your outlook. You will need to move all those emails to the inbox so they will be downloaded to outlook.

Verizon email and window resizing

Has anyone else noticed that for the past few days, when you click on a link within an email in Verizon webmail, that the window that opens seems not to retrieve the size of the previous window opened (outside of VZ webmail), and is "restored down" to a size similar to that of the webmail display (minus the ad region on the right hand side), even though the last window opened (outside of VZ webmail) was maximized? If so, does anyone have a way to remedy or get around it? (I prefer to see only one window at a time on my screen, so I maximize whenever possible, and find it really annoying that I must do so everytime I click on a link in an email. It should be MY choice, not Verizon's!)

I haven't noticed anything but a simple way to fix it is to use MS Outlook (or express), Windows Mail or Macmail. That way you download the emails onto your computer in a program that runs on your computer. You control everything. If something did change on the website, it is Verizon's website and they have full control over it.
I would suggest if this keeps bothering you to try one of the programs listed above. If you have Windows you should have Outlook Express (or Windows Mail). I think Macmail is self explanatory.

Then choose where you want your stuff, locally in Outlook or online in iCloud.

Setting up Verizon email with Outlook 2010

Using 995 for IMAP server I receive "The IMAP server issued an unrecognized greeting." Can anyone advise another setting?

Verizon doesn't use imap, so that might be the problem. Change to pop 3. A detailed step by step can be found at www.verizon.com/repair and clicking set up email, or you can try the auto fix by clicking fix email.

Archived email and outlook

We were just bought by another company and have been told we are going to be moving into their existing Exchange system. I have spent some time over the past months archiving older messages in our GW7 system for some of my power users.
For the existing GW mailboxes, I was going to perform a PST export while connected to GW from outlook to keep the 'newer" GW emails. However, I have no idea if there is a way for me to do a similar function with all the mail I archived in GW other than unarchiving it.
I also have a mailbox that is access from a client by using the GW Backup feature of the client. And do not know how I can bring that over.
Any suggestions?

You can buy Advansys's Archive To Go and PST Creator. However, it just depends
on how much you want to spend. If it's a lot of users, then it could be worth
it. If it's a few users, unarchiving seems to be more practical.

One of your settings is not set correctly. Go slowly, and check every setting.
Which browser/ version are you using? Have you cleared your browser cache?

Verizon Email & Outlook 2003

We have installed and hooked up OUTLOOK 2003 so that it works with the Verizon email. However my student daughter still needs to be able to utilize Verizon email while at school. Unfortunately with hooking up OUTLLOK 2003, all of the emails travel through the Verizon STMP, but a copy does not stay there.
Is it possible to have the emails appear is both Verizon email and OUTLOOK?

You can check the box in the settings for "Leave a copy of messages on the server" to access both places.

Email and Verizon Portal login credentials..

Hi there! I've got a bit of an odd problem.
I switched from DSL to FiOS For Business in 2007, and my email accounts transfered over with it, just like clockwork.
Earlier this year I switched the plan back to residential as I didn't need a static IP any longer, but when that happened I lost my verizon emails and login for the portal area.
I never really cared up until a day ago when an old account on another website needed to verify I still owned the email account, and locked me out until I did so.
I'm curious, can I reclaim the email adresess that I used to own, seeing as they're not currently in use (Test email bounced back as non-deliverable)?
(And out of curiosity: What happened to 24 hour FiOS support? 5a-8p isn't 24 hours. Not a big issue, but where'd the support go?)

Firefox refreshes email on Yahoo! and outlook. Never did this before!

When using Yahoo! email and Outlook email the screen goes blank (White) for a second as if it is refreshing. Firefox never did this to me until recently. The pause seems long for a refresh.

To clear cache and cookies do the following:

Corrupted email in Outlook that will not go away or respond

Hi! Does anyone know how to get rid of a an email message that when clicked on freezes the screen and makes you have to shut down the computer and start it up again? I have contacted Verizon, Norton, and Outlook Express and not one of them was able to figure it out. The last contact I had with Verizon, the person got mad and said this wasn't Verizon's fault and he couldn't fix it and then disconnected. Maybe it's time to get rid of Verizon. Unless someone can help of course.

If an Outlook Express message is corrupted, it almost usually means you have to rebuild the Outlook Express profile as the program tends to have database issues whenever the Mail file reaches a certain size. Now if an e-mail is stuck and corrupt, that's another issue that may or may not be size related. If you really don't want to go through the process of rebuilding a profile, you could try running programs that repair Outlook Express data files (many of them are not free anymore), or you could try moving the corrupted message into a folder and deleting the folder itself (which will kill the message).
Anyways, if the message is not in Webmail and Outlook Express is set up to use POP3 to retrieve mail, it's not Verizon's problem. It's a Microsoft problem.

If these devices are used by you, then no worries.
If they are used by others, I would recommend setting them up using their own AppleID.

Unable to text in Verizon email my keyboard won't come up in their new setup

When I tap in the message area to email the keyboard will not pop up no matter what I do, all other transactions work. This only happens with the new Verizon email and the ipad2. I called Verizon and after 2 hours being transferred and testing everything they were not able to help, only to state it was a apple issue. I said no because it worked with the old verizon email, its a Verizon issue. But no help from them. Any suggestions?

They had me log into my desktop and message, which worked. All they could offer was to turn back to the old email which worked on the iPad. But now they don,t have the older set up now. Please help.
