Verizon gave my landline phone number to someone else and now can't fix the problem FOR ME
I have a landline that is used for emergencies only in case my 7 year old son needs to be transported to the hospital for his seizures. I tried using the phone about 3 weeks ago during some bad weather only to find out there was no dial tone. Luckily, my cell phone woked. I contacted Verizon who sent out a technician who found out that the problem "was on their end." His work order showed someone else's name and address and he went to their house first before coming to mine. They told him they didn't have a problem so he came to my address.
I had called my "old" number from my cell phone to see if it would ring and ended up speaking to the husband of the lady who had "my" phone number. The tech asked them if they were willing to give up "my" number and they agreed to do so. The tech said he would resolve this issue for me because he'd never seen anything like it before. Maybe he and his supervisor should visit this forum and see how other customers have had the same issue. I received two calls yesterday from a Verizon customer support rep who tried to restore my service. She had to transfer me over to security or some department who treated me very rudely and told me to send a copy of my driver license or a copy of a bill to Verizon because they couldn't approve her order request. She had remained on the line with me. By this point, I'm getting **bleep** because this is the 2nd time I've been transferred to that verification department and I wanted to ask "Why don't I just send a copy of "my" bill showing my name and phone number as verification? Would that suffice?" The cust supp rep tried to explain to her what was going on but I am still without service. I had already verified my info last year when service was established and don't feel the need to provide this info again. It's Verizon's mess and they should fix it.
I am penning my letter to the corporate headquarters today. I even chatted online with another cust serv rep who was snarky with me until I typed that the chat session would be included with the letter to corporate. Then she tried to be helpful. What concerns me is even if my number is established, what if it happens again during an emergency? What about a refund that's owed me for paying for a line that was last used in June 2014 up until the present time? I want my money back. I have online banking records showing my payments. I am thoroughly disappointed in Verizon. How dare they take my money, turn off my phone, and now can't even restore it. After I contact their corporate office, if the issue isnt resolved, I am filing a complaint with the State Attorney General's Office as well as the BBB. I suggest that everyone else who will encounter this problem file a complaint too.
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.
Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.

Where is the phone number on the iPod?
If you have an iPhone with iOS and use the same ID for Messages and FaceTime as on the iPod the iPhone's phone number will be listed for Messages and FaceTime on the iPod.
If you changed phone numbers on the iPhone, sign out of Messages and FaceTime and then sing back in. Then do the same a little while later on the iPod.

You need to set up the accounts in System Preferences/Accounts, then activate Fast User Switching.
That way you can quickly log in to your own account - then back to his.
You should obviously have different passwords. -

Otherwise*, start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities window appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar at the top of the screen—not from any of the items in the OS X Utilities window.
In the window that opens, type this:

Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select
▹ Restart
from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.

Since I updated my 4S iphone to the latest iOS7 version, I can no longer close any of my apps. As a result, all my apps remain open on my phone. Even powering down and restarting does not solve the problem. Specifically, when I double-click the start button, my open app icons display. But when I hold my finger on an icon, the apps do not wiggle and display an "x" to close. Any advice... thanks?!
Double tap the Home button, then swop upwards on the App Preview (not the App Icon). Tap the Home button again when done to return to normal screen.

downloaded acrobat reader 11 onto my Mac Book Pro, it can open the file but will not print. Get a message that says PDF cannot be printed, however, I forwarded it to someone else and they could print it, no problem. I called HP and spent an 1hour with them and then called Apple support and worked with them for 3 hours. No one can figure it out. Is there something wrong with this version? the pdf was created in 2004. Do I have to pay to get Acrobat?
Let me give you a slightly different perspective than everyone else here. You are using an unsecured wireless network, which means that all your network traffic is easily available for viewing by anyone else using that network. That's bad. Very bad, for you, unless you absolutely trust everyone who lives within range of this network. So stop doing it.
As to the Mac not connecting, wireless networking is simply too complex for any reasonable answer without more information. There are many possible error points, and as often as not it's the Mac that can connect and the Windows PC that cannot. Since you can't give us any information about the configuration of the neighbor's network, and can't make any changes to it, we can't do much to help you troubleshoot it. -
My MacBook was wiped of all my music and everything else, and now my iTouch is the only device with my entire music database. My iTouch is old. (Version 6.1.6, Model number: MC547LL/A) Is there any way I can put all the music on my iTouch back onto my MacBook? I hate that I could lose my entire music library by dropping my iTouch in the toilet.
I've tried to plug in my iTouch into my MacBook, but I can't seem to give the music-transfusion without subscribing to iTunes Match or just completely wiping my iTouch.

It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a different setup you transfer the old library from a computer or a backup directly to the new setup, not the device to the library. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

after i updated my iphone 5s to iOS 8.3 , i downloaded a game that took all the storage away . the problem is that , when it delete the game , the storage doesn't expand, it sticks to 0 bytes. i tried to delete more apps , the problems still persists. once i go to gallery , and try to delete a picture or video , the gallery app crashes instantly. i tried to fix the problem by restarting the phone several times , and it doesn't seem to fix the problem. i need a solution to my problem , and if anyone can help , i would be grateful. i can't take pictures or save up anything anymore , and can't seem to check up on my msgs that i receive. i have narrow my problem down to imessage and facetime are both trying to use my cell phone number to connect but because i am connected thru wifi it wont let me. I went into the imessage and facetime setting and try to change this to my apple id, problem is it asks for my password and keeps saying its not right, i have the right one, why is it doing this????
i had this problem, i turned off imessage, turned off phone, turned on phone, turned on imessage and let it reactivate.

When I am connected to my computer to sync my iTunes and iPhone (4s) the 'log' in iTunes tells me I have three books installed on the device, but when I eject the phone, I have nothing installed.
What is happening, and how can I stop this - it is starting to frustrate me.
Thanks in advance.Put it into DFU mode - hold the sleep/wake button and home button until the screen goes black (ignoring the slide to turn off slider). When the screen goes black release the sleep/wake button but hold the home button. Continue holding the home button for 10 seconds, then release it. The screen should stay black. Plug it into iTunes and it should come up with this message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. It must be restored before use", that's when it is successfully in DFU mode. Now press the restore button in iTunes and it should run smoothly :)

Can someone tell me what settings I need for ipad texting. I went to Mexico and when I returned the texting does not work on my ipad. The support at Apple wanted to charge me to get info.
THanksCan't address the problem directly, cause even though my iPad4 is Cell+Wi-Fi, I've never put a SIM in it and never had the need to text, SMS or iMessage, from it. When away from the office or home wireless network, I tether it off the iPhone. Skype, both text and video, work just fine thru the Wi-Fi link, though.
HOWEVER, when I was hashing out the contract details to get the iPhone 5 about 14 months ago at Telcel, the representative distinctly mentioned that both Visual Voicemail as well as iMessages would be included in the package and they would be mandatory cause "I was getting a (subsidized) Apple iPhone" on a 24 month leash. Then when the gizmo came out of its box for SIM installation and activation, she went thru the motions of making sure both were working properly. So I assume the carrier has some say in the matter.
