Verizon iPhone 4S 16GB does not receive incoming calls

Hi all,
In December, I bought my first iPhone, and I absolutely love it.  However, recently I've had (what I consider) a big issue.  I am self-employed, and rely on this phone to make money from customers calling me inquiring about items I have in my store, or items they will pay a finders fee to locate.
In the past week, I've had two people say they cannot get in touch with me.  One, a customer, and the other, my mother, who is in the hospital.  Both say they tried multiple times, and the phone would just keep ringing, and would never get to voicemail.  I looked at my missed calls, and I had no notifications of a missed call, nor any that showed up in my log. Both have confirmed they called my exact cell #.  What gives?  Has anyone else had this issue?  I'd take it to Verizon (or would an Apple store be better?) but since this is an isolated event, I doubt it would "reveal itsellf" when the issue will attempt to be replicated in-store.
Could anyone give me some guidance or advice on what would be ideal to do with an issue such as this?

Check the Call Forwarding section. There are two options to select. One says Forward All Calls and the other says Forward Unanswered Calls. Make sure Forward All Calls is not selected. That would cause all calls to go to the number specified which may be your voicemail. To get there from the home screen click the Phone icon > push the option button (left of the trackball) > click options > click Call Forwarding.

  • Phone does not receive incoming calls

Please help.  Verizon can't seem to.  My phone does not receive 90% of its incoming calls or messages.  I have been told to delete all of my messages and call logs- no use.  I have tried removing the battery and resetting the phone.  I did make sure the phone was not in "do not disturb" mood- it is not.  People who call me say that it doesn't ring, just goes straight to voice mail even though the phone is on.  Very frustrating problem as my 6 year old phone before seemed to give me better service.  I feel like a child who is only allowed to make outgoing calls!  Please help.  All suggestions are welcome.  Thank you.

  • Why does my iPhone 5s not receive incoming calls

My iPhone 5s does not ring when receiving incoming calls yet I have signal, do not disturb is off and I receive texts or voicemails notifying me of a missed call which I can return immediately. What is going on? How can I fix this?

Yes the ringtone works. I know you are trying to help however I am fairly tech savvy and have eliminated all basic user defined settings that could cause the issue. The issue is not that there is no sound the issue is that there is no call incoming notification at all. The call does not connect to my Boone to even make it ring and display as a missed call

  • IPhone 5s is not receiving incoming calls

    Hi everyone,
I am having problems with receiving incoming calls after I got the 5s. Sometimes, it didn't even ring, just went straight to voice mail even though the signal was strong. Sometimes they have to call me up to 8 - 10 times for the phone to ring once and the other calls will appear as missed calls. Does anyone experience the same problem with the 5s? Should I bring it to the apple store for them to take a look?
    Thanks

Ive got an imac from 2008 and MBPr from 2013. the imac does indeed receive regular calls but the newer  mac, the MBPr from 2013 does not.
    what is going on apple?
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), iOS 8.1

i got it. I fixed it by setting Time Zone in automatically in both iphone and MBC
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences > Date & Time > Date & Time.
    Enable "Set Automatically".
Click the Time Zone tab and confirm the closest city is correct.
do the same in the iphone and it will work

  • After upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard, mail server does not receive incoming email

After upgrading my server last night [2011.07.20] from Snow Leopard to Lion, my mail server settings went belly up.  After toying around with the server, its certificates and what-not, I was able to get it running, but it is no longer receiving any emails [neither internally nor from Gmail, Yahoo, etc.].
I can send emails via SMTP just fine [using SSL] to external email accounts [and it doesn't complain when I address an email to an internal email account, but I can't verify that it's sending it to the internal email account because it won't receive!].
The Connection Doctor says that it is indeed connecting properly to the server [incoming = IMAP, outgoing = SMTP], so there is communication between Mail 5.0 [and also Thunderbird as well] and the mail server.  The problem appears to be the mail server not receiving any emails - from internal or external addresses.
Anyone else having this problem or know of a fix for it?
    Thanks!

Did you find a solution to this issue?  My mail server is doing the same thing.  I've tried six migrations now, and have a couple of tickets open, but they all have issues.  I have worked around all of them except the mail server problem.
I did some more digging; the problem appears to be that on a migrated server, it leaves all of your mail store in the old location, doesn't move it, and then doesn't appear to upgrade spam-assassin properly.  The net effect is that the mail server gets the SMTP communication, tries to pass the message into spam assassin, and then it goes south.
I see errors like this littered in the logs:
Jul 31 13:53:10 mail org.amavis.amavisd[5927]: bayes: cannot open bayes databases /var/amavis/.spamassassin/bayes_* R/O: tie failed:
Jul 31 13:53:10 mail org.amavis.amavisd[5927]: bayes: cannot open bayes databases /var/amavis/.spamassassin/bayes_* R/O: tie failed: No such file or directory
    Do you see anything similar?

  • Sony Xperia Z3V sometimes not receiving incoming calls

Hello everyone! I bought a Sony Xperia Z3V phone on Verizon online and it works awesome but it has one issue. Lately, my friend texts me and says he's going to call me and I say ok. I wait for his call but never rings. He texts me and says he called me twice but my phone never rang at all! So I got my house phone and called myself but it didn't ring neither! I called myself 4 times and no incoming call at all! I left myself a voicemail and it did went through. Now here's the kicker, I have to make a phone call in order for the incoming calls to go through.... I tested that by calling my voicemail or house phone. After that, I called myself again and it went through. I asked my friend to call me back and it went through. BUT me making phone calls in order for the phone to receive other people's phone calls is not normal or supposed to be happening. What if I get an important call from someone and my phone doesn't get the call at all and I miss it?! Oh and the phone does have signal and is connected to wifi. No the phone is not rooted nor I want to root it at all. Anyone else dealing with this? Can anyone help me please and find a solution? Thank you.

Hi Phy, so when the probelm of not recieving phone calls happened again, I went to safe mode to see if the calls will go through and it didn't unfortunatly. Again I made a call to voicemail or house phone, then called myself and it went through. When I had it on safe mode, all the apps I had installed were removed. I went to check the already installed apps that the phone has to see if there is any corrupted app anywhere and they all seem to be working fine. What do you think is causing this? Do you have another solution? Thanks.

  • My skype to go number does not take incoming calls

No matter what phone you call from (U.S. landline, various cell carriers, U.K.) you get a message "You have reached a non-working number.  Announcement: 14 Switch 1, 8 dash 3."
I have plenty of credit in my account, and can make outgoing calls. But neither my computer when signed in or my stand alone skype phone (IPEVO) when signed in take incoming calls.  Do I blame Microsoft?
Either way, it would be nice if someone could help me trouble shoot so we could receive calls again.

    Hello,
A SkypeToGo # is the # you call to set up STG calls to your contacts. It's not designed to receive inbound calls which is why you are receiving that message.
To receive inbound calls you require a Skype OnLine #.
TIME ZONE - US EASTERN. LOCATION - PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA.
I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac
If my advice helped to fix your issue please mark it as a solution to help others.
Please note that I generally don't respond to unsolicited Private Messages. Thank you.

  • 2811(NM-8AM) does not answers incoming call from PC

    Dear friends,
We are planning to setup an out of band management connectivity, in our test setup we have a Cisco 2811 ISR (with IOS 12.4(9)T5 ) with NM-8AM (Analog modem module) installed.
    Test Setup:
    1. One Analog line (PSTN) connected to PC via built-in modem
    2. Second Analog line (PSTN) connected to Cisco 2811 (NM-8AM) terminated on the analog modem module
    3. Both the analog lines are working fine.
    Test Scenario:
    1. The router should accept the incoming call from PC. And from the PC we should be able to telnet into the router via dial up connectivity (Out of band)
    Test procedure:
    1. The Cisco 2811 router is configured as follows:
    version 12.4
    service timestamps debug datetime msec
    service timestamps log datetime msec
    no service password-encryption
    hostname Dial-Up-CPE
    boot-start-marker

    flowcontrol hardware
    line vty 0 4
    password cisco
    scheduler allocate 20000 1000
    2. With the above configuration, the router is not able to answer the incoming call from the PC.
    3. And from the PC we are able to dial to a PSTN number at the router side, PC gives a proper dial tone and once the number is dialed, the call is landed on the other side (router end) and it rings continuously. But, the router does not answer this incoming. The analog line at the router end is terminated on async interface 1/0.
As I am new to dialup connectivity with NM-8AM, Could some please suggest the proper configuration in our router configuration OR Are missing any commands?
Any links/references would be of great help.
    Thank you
    Pradeep

    Hi,
I guess I'm having exactly the same setup. The integrated modem on the other end does pick up the call but soon disconnect after displaying "Waiting for carrier".
    Any clue?
    Thanks,

  • Skype not receiving incoming calls and messages- only when I sign in again will I receive

My skype has been acting up after 7.6. Everytime someone calls me or messages me the first time it logs in, I wont receive a call or notification. Only when I sign out and sign back in will I get a notification saying I missed a call. But in the first place, I didn't even receive one. There was no pop up incoming call.  I also won't receive recent instant messages unless I repeatedly log in and outPlease help me find a solution. I've tried uninstaling and reinstalling 3 times already and the problem still persists . Thank you!

Do any other SIM cards work in it ? Sounds like it could be blacklisted.
Normally when a handset is blacklisted , you can send and receive SMS , but not make or receive calls.

  • Bought a new phone and now we can not receive incoming calls

This week I bought a new Panasonic cordless handset with no answering machine to replace our AT&T desk phone. I set it all up and waited the 7 hours for it to charge. Checked for dial tone, ringer, and volume. Called the house # from my cell phone and the screen on the Panasonic never showed an incoming call - kicked into voice mail (provided by Verizon) after the preset 5 rings so I left a test message. Panasonic screen showed a "1 new voice mail message". I was able to dial the voice mail access phone # and listen to my test message. Disconnected the new handset and reconnected our old phone - worked just fine. Returned the Panasonic to the store where purchased and exchanged for another (same model). Sales assoc. said there may be a code needed from Verizon. Spent hours on the phone attempting to speak to a real person at the customer service # and decided none work there anymore - everything was automated! After "4 digit pin" frustrations I gave up!
So if you've read this far and can help I'd sure appreciate it! Line works fine, old phone works fine, checked ringer/volume on new phone. Only working phone jack in the house (used to have 2 but when we contracted with V last year they only changed over one - another frustration).   And how can I find out when our contract is up?!?

Your mostly talking to peers here.  Better off using the
    http://www22.verizon.com/support/residential/contact-us/index.htm
option which is on all the Verizon pages.  Should always lead you to phone numbers (1-800-verizon) and often an online chat.  Sometimes will show you and email option.
As far as peers helping we would need to know  what type phone service and general area of the country.  Obviously varies as I have had no trouble with panasonic, uniden and other phones at my two locations (NY and FL).

  • Name does not show incoming calls, but only the number

I called the support, but I have not receives assistance!
I also replaced the device, but the new one is equal.

It sounds as though you have content protection enabled on your address book. To disable this feature in OS6, search for "Encryption" within Options. Uncheck the "Include contacts" box.

  • HT1976 When I'm using LTE on iPhone 5 I do not receive phone calls or text messages. How come??

When I'm using phone in LTE vs 4G I do not receive messages or phone call/voice mail. Why is this happening and why have LTE if you can't use your phone in full capacity. Do I need to switch over from one to the other and what is LTE for?

Where did you get it? If the phone is supposed to work on LTE and doesn't, you should see about getting it fixed. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store. They'll be able to tell you if it's the right phone and, if so, what to do next. Seems kind of silly to have a phone that should be working on 4G LTE and, instead of trying to get it fixed, just turining that off. However, that's just my opinion.

  • Help fix my problem, I am not receiving incoming calls on my iphone4

When I am on the phone I can hear when I get an incoming call, but I do not see the call that is coming in. The calls do not show on the screen or give me the option to retrieve the phone call. I have checked the settings over and over, I have reset my cell, I have turned it of and on, and have had people call multiple times to see if it was working again. It has become a big inconvienience.
