Verizon iPhone call & text reception

For the past few days, my wife's (Verizon) iPhone will, intermittently, not receive calls or text messages. She has had a few dropped calls, but her text messages to others  seem  to be getting through o.k.  All other funtions are working fine.  I did a wired resync, and that went well, and software is up to date. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any info or suggestions?
Thank you!

Thanks, but we have tried that, and it still intermittently does not receive calls or texts.
My other thought, obviously, was that it is a Verizon issue, but we all have Verizon, and 3 other iPhones in the family are doing O.K.

Every minute my iPhone loses reception to the Verizon service. I have had the iPhone 4 and 4s and never had this issue. Anyone else experiencing this?

Ok... So I've ha this problem the same day I got the new IPhone 5. Phone would be out of service for 3 hours and when I do get service it's very bad reception. I'm currently with Bell and thought it was my carrier rather then the phone. I called technical support and they advised me to get a new SIM card. I got three SIM cards and still the same problem. So I went back o bell and got a new iPhone and still the same problem. This is most Lilly a software bug. Apple will be releasing a software update to fix this issue. I'm just as frustrated as all of you!

  • Verizon iPhone 6plus unable to receive calls but can receive texts

Hello, I have a Verizon iPhone 6plus (64GB Space Grey) and am unable to receive incoming calls, yet I'm able to place out-going calls and exchange texts with my contacts.  I'm unsure how to proceed, I'm asking for assistance since I have seen that my issue is different then everyone else since I can call out and do text messaging.  Any ideas on how to correct this issue?  Do I need to speak with Verizon, since to me it seems like a network problem? Or do I need to go to my local Apple Store and request a genius bar appointment for assistance?
Thanks for your assistance, I greatly appreciate it very much!
    Eric

I suggest contacting or going to Verizon and have them try to resolve the issue, calling feature is a carrier feature.
    good luck.

  • Verizon iPhone unable to make or receive calls

Hello everyone, my Verizon iPhone is intermittently unable to make or receive calls (yes I do have reception). Has anyone experienced this before? I've called Verizon customer service and they were no help and suggested replacing the device at the apple store which I did. Verizon tech support ended up saying they would look into my issue with the network team, and contact me, which they never did. Apple sort of suggested it's a Verizon issue, and was not going to replace it for that reason, until I told them my battery was dieing quick too (luckily I had a screenshot of usage). So they're kinda blaming eachother- and I'm stuck in the middle with no support/help. I've tried ALL of the troubleshooting procedures. Do you think it's a Verizon or iPhone problem? What should I do?
One reason I think it's a Verizon issue is, I've had 2 iPhones that had the same problem- what are the chances of that? One reason I believe it's a Apple iPhone issue is because ALL of the Verizon phones in my household work perfectly all the time, except mine. Again it's intermittent, which is why I recorded videos.
Here is my brother's iPhone calling mine (both Verizon): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWvZN90_adk
    My iPhone calling brother's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZFS5iiNrus
My iPhone calling a friends phone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGcB6uH0Ax8
My friend calling my iPhone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCnJc4e_DAQ

I have tried all the troubleshooting methods on the iPhone before this one multiple times by myself and with verizon tech support. Anyways, I gave it a try on this iPhone except the restore, because I want the apple genius to be able to run a diagnostic on it. I did the restore on my prior iPhone and he said he couldn't run the diagnostic because I restored it.
My results from the troubleshooting link:
    1. Check Signal - I have 3/5 bars, still doesn't work
    2. Reset Network Settings - I did that, still doesn't work
    3. Verizon Update Preferred Roaming List - My iPhone gets "Call Failed" when dialing *228 (btw I already did this the day I got this iPhone).
    4. Check Carrier - 4 of the 5 Verizon phones in my house work perfectly, so I doubt it's a carrier issue at this point. But I will give Verizon another call tomorrow morning to make sure.

  • Re: Why are there numbers not showing up on my verizon online call and texts log?

I am having the same problem with texts not appearing on my online text log and have also noticed a huge increase in data since my two sons have had their iPhone 5s.  I have the iPhone 4.  Two problems here
iPhone users DO appear.  In the posted questions and response below, you indicate that if we are all using iPhones then we are not using the Verizon network but using data.  HOW DO I STOP THIS DATA USAGE AND RETURN TO USING THE NETWORK?  I can't afford the data charges that I am getting.. HELP!!  and Thank you.

If you are all using iPhones, then it's likely the texts are going through iMessages and therefore use data.  Since the texts are not using the Verizon network, but the app, they do not show up in the logs.  The app is not specifically blocking the texted numbers from showing up, but the information comes through Verizon as data usage, not numbers texted.

        Sparkyjames81,
Lets figure out just where those texts are going! There are many apps that can be downloaded from the Play Store for Android phones that will allow messages to be sent over the internet, and therefore they are not actually text messages and will not show up in our records. Even Facebook has their own messaging app available that does this.
If you have an iPhone, they come with a service called iMessage that allows for messages to other Apple devices be sent via the internet, and this will also not show up on our records. These are all ways to bypass our actual texting services, and since these messages are not being sent as texts they do not show up on our records.

  • Straight Talk iPhone 5 can't receive calls/texts

iPhone 5 can't call/text or receive calls/texts. Straight talk is my carrier. I have had the phone since Christmas. It has worked perfectly all of this time. On June 27, I came home and the problems started. Can't call/text receive calls/texts. Can't get on the internet unless I connect to my router. Called straight talk and they rudely told me to just go outside when I wanted to make a call or text. Problems began to escalate. Phone wouldn't work outside my house or on my porch. It only works when I go very far from my house and even then it is testy. Now it won't connect to my router unless I'm right next to it. Called apple today and the support person had me update Network Settings. It worked! So excited, was able to make calls and text. Told the lady thank you and was thrilled that all seemed to be fixed. Set my phone down and came back to it in about five minutes. Guess what. It was having the same old problems again. Don't know what else to do. If I don't get any answers here. I suppose I'll call apple again. Hoping someone here is having the same problems and knows what is going on. Also, does anyone know what tower iPhone 5 uses with Straight Talk? I've heard it's Verizon, but I've also heard it's AT&T. Any help would be soooo much appreciated!

There might be another carrier fix.
    You can go to Settings>General>About
Wait a few seconds and if there is a new carrier push, a prompt will show asking to update carrier settings
Also you might want to check these out as well.

  • Why are there numbers not showing up on my verizon online call and texts log?

<< Discussion  moved from All Things Community to Apple for better exposure >>
Why are there numbers not showing up on my call and texts log when i look this up online at verizon? There is one number that my daughter texts and calls a lot i found from her phone log but not one time does it show when i look this up on the Verizon wireless call log???  We all have iphones is there an application or something that can block certain calls from showing up? It clearly has texts on her phone from this number why would it not be on the call log?

    Thank you for your reply.
However, wouldn't an iMessage show up different than a text? It looks just like every other text on her phone.  We all have iphones in this house and they always show up as texts on  the call log but this one number seems to be blocked somehow from showing up on the text log. And there are texts from weeks ago and it's from an actual number not computer or any weird/odd code and yet it never comes across on the text log when i look it up.
If you are correct and it's coming across as iMessage is there a way for me to block texts coming across this way so they all show up on the text log?

  • My iPhone 5 won't ring at all.  Phone calls, texts etc. are all vibration only even though under Sounds everything is correct.  What am I doing wrong?

My iPhone 5 won't ring .  It only vibrates for calls, texts, etc.  what am I doing wrong?

    Hi, Mylenium,
Thanks for your prompt reply, I'm afraid it hasn't helped. I don't see anything wrong in my device manager.
I have also gone and updated every driver, especially the motherboard chipset and the Sata Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver.
Unfortunately, this hasn't made any difference.
    Any other suggestions?
    Many thanks in advance!

  • Is it possible to access my calendar while on a phone call on my Verizon iPhone?

When I'm on a phone call on my Verizon iPhone 4, it doesn't appear that I can leave the phone screen to view, for example, my calendar.  Is there a way to access my calendar while on a phone call?  Thanks in advance for your time and responses.

During a call, press the home button (note the green bar at the top of the screen).  Navigate to your Calendar app and open it.
The Calendar app won't be able to update OTA during the call but you should be able to see everything that was there before the call.

  • IPhone 4 don't alrm me on call/text

I am using iphone 4. When someone call/text me, my phone's screen didn't alrm me about this. But on next call/text message, my screen viberate so I can see someone is calling me and I also can see there were some miss calls and text messages being delivered to my phone. Can someone tell me what could be the reason?

Check that the phone is not on silent. Go to settings, check every notification and sound for calls/messages is active and enabled.
If your phone buzzes, but you can't actually see the messages/calls...
Turn off 'do not disturb' (if you see a half moon at the top)

  • No "End + Answer" or "Merge" calls  options on Verizon iPhone???

    Hello,
I had the iPhone 4 on AT&T, but recently switched to the Verizon version. There are several major problems that I have noticed:
    1) When on a call, there is no "End + Answer" button when a new call comes through. The only buttons are "Ignore" and "Hold + Answer". This is a MAJOR problem for me right now
    2) When on a call and I use the "Hold + Answer" button, there is no "Merge" calls option. How can this be possible?
    3) On the Phone settings, there is no easy way to forward calls like on the AT&T version.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated as I am ready to switch back.
    Thanks,
    Danny

This is obvsiously a response to and old post, but I just compared the difference between the call functions on the Verizon iPhone 4S and the AT&T iPhone 4.  For Verizon, when someone is talking on the phone, and another person calls, your only options are to Ignore, Hold Call and Answer, or End.  The first two operate the same on both each type of phone.  The "End" function on the Verizon ends the current conversation, and waits for the new call to be rereceived.  That's not exactly a technical term, but what happens is that all phone calls end (the screen actually goes back to the phone app recent call screen or keypad), and the 2nd call that was received rerings the phone.  The person calling the phone hears a normal ringing tone with the intermittent beeps that signals the other person is on the other line.  I hope this makes sense to you.  When someone calls the AT&T phone, the options are Ignore, Hold Call and Answer, and End Call and Answer.  If you select the End Call and Answer, the phone immediately ends the current call and changes to the new call.  Interesting difference, particularly when compared side-by-side, or when an AT&T iPhone user tries to help a Verizon iPhone user.  Have fun figuring out why this exists and who is to blame!

  • Verizon iPhone(s) reception

It's whacky, but I've a problem with 3 Verizon iPhones at my company.
Our company phones are a mixture of Sprint and Verizon with a plethora of personal devices and carriers.
Cell reception inside the building was unacceptable so the decision was made to install a repeater/signal amplifier.
For the most part, the effort has supplied spectacular results --- Except for the Verizion iPhones.
I can place a Verizon iPhone next to a Verizon Motorola, the Motorola gets great reception, the iPhone acts like the repeater was never installed.
The handfull of ATT and Sprint iPhones are just as happy as the androids, great signal reception.
Not so with the Verizon iPhones.
I suspect the issue is more with Verizon's configuration than the phone, but it could be mechanical with the CDMA iPhones.
Anyone have an idea where to start, or to resolve what I'm hoping is a simple (if obsure) configuration setting?
    Thanks in advance!

    WOW,
Had a talk with the "head genius" at the local Apple store -- best I can say is he was blowing smoke at me.  Suggested either I try shutting down the phones and letting them re-aquire the signal (sort of over ruled by the other iPhones in house) or to check the LTE setting was ON.  I'm not sure how the data side of the phone would effect the voice but I guess it might be possible, stuck me as funny the other suggestion was a Bill Gates "alt, ctrl, del" reboot!
I did try both suggestions, absolutely no change in the symptoms.
Next stop was the local Verizon store -- Initial sales guy at least listened to the issue and got the store manager involved. Neither had an idea (and probably though I was the one smoking a controlled substance) untill another sales accociate piped up and said "Oh yea, happened to my parents"  Her mom's iPhone is a paper weight at the house, her dad's Droid is rock solid.  Generic signal booster was no help, her parents had to resort to a Verizon IP network based cell extender.
Unbelieveable! Not sure if the issue is burried in the Verizon specific hardware changes in their iPhones or the Verizon specific software configuration but at least I'm not the only victim of the problem.
I wish a generic iPhone reconfigured for Verizon was a viable option, probably more trouble than it's worth and I'm not willing to buy a an over the counter iPhone just to test the theory.  Sigh.
    The hunt continues.

  • Multiple Call Glitch on Verizon Iphone

Coming from every version of the iphone since it's inception, switching over to Verizon iPhone has been great except for 1 major glitch I discovered. While I was in a current call, I received another call and was able to hold & answer just like on the AT&T iPhone. The screen said "multiple calls" and I got an option to "swap" between the 2 active calls, however the "merge" option was grayed out (unavailable) so i couldn't conference the two active calls. When i hung up with one of the calls, i did not get the option to go back to the other call -- when i ended the one call, it ended both calls. i called one of the Apple stores and they were baffled. i tried a test on my wife's Verizon iPhone as well, and the same thing happened.

I have the Verizon Iphone as well and mine does this too. I called apple and told them about it and they were very suprised to hear this as well. They said to submit a feedback and hope that there is a software update that comes out for this to be fixed. Its a little crazy that this would not be on the Verzon Iphone considering this is a standard phone feature not a network deal. I posted this on the feedback. I hope you do too. Along with other people as well the more people that tell them they maybe they will fix it.

  • Verizon conference calls iphone 5

I have switched from an ATT iphone 4s and LOVE verizon's call quality and speed of call-call connection. And I knew that I would have to sacrifice the no simultaneous data/voice party that ATT does.
That said, Verizon's conference call ability is AWFUL. With ATT you have full control over each call you are connected to, can drop only one at a time, switch etc.
with verizon it seems buggy to no end, even sticks on "conference" when a caller hangs up so you can't call someone else. very unimpressed and conference calling is extremely important for my business.
just making sure this is how it is rather than a glitch?

I hate the AT&T voice quality. Just bought the Verizon for comparison and found out:
    1. Verizon voice is superior to AT&T
    2. AT&T iPhone 5 setting has functions that Verizon iPhone 5 does NOT have such as call forwarding, call waiting, show caller ID, etc.
    3. Verizon conference calling is primitive just as dreborn1982 has described. Further more, when you have an incoming call.... you can not conference anyone.... "merge" is simply gray
AT&T is so bad that last week I called them to disconnect and was willing to pay the penalty. They offered me the free microcell. I have installed it and the bars jumped from 1 to 5. As impressive as it looks, the calls were still so bad that I went to buy a Verizon iPhone 5.
The Quality of Verizon is noticeable immediately but the feature limitation is annoying.
I will probably prefer the Verizon quality with the limitation.

  • Why can't I text from my Verizon iPhone 4S to AT&T Galaxy S4?

My wife who is on AT&T switched from an iPhone 3 to the Samsung Galaxy S4 last week.  Since then she can't see my texts from my Verizon iPhone 4S.  I see her texts just fine.  Fyi, she said she unregistered her Apple iPhone when getting her Galaxy. Thanks for any help!
