Verizon LTE ipad

Is the Verizon LTE iPad NOT designed to activate and deactivate the 4G service?  I used the service for a month, then deactivated it.  Now, my SIM card has been fried and Verizon makes it very difficult to reinstate the Pre Paid plan although they are more than willing to have you sign up for a long term plan,  I am very very disappointed with the Verizon iPad and now I wish I purchased the AT&T iPad.

When you want to deactivate witout burning the SIM card you have to choose "delete account later".  It cancels the autopay,s o you finish out your cycle/data and your done until you sign up for a plan again.  If you choose "delete account now" the SIM is burned and you have to get a replacement, which can be painful and your experience vaies by the store you go to.  I posted more details on activation in the thread linked below.

  • IPad 3rd Gen Shows Strong Verizon LTE Signal but no Internet

I've heen having a frequent issue where my Verizon LTE iPad is showing a full LTE connection but than I get error messages that I'm not connected to the Internet.  So I end up having to toggle Airplane mode to get it to reacquire a signal (which might take a minute or two) and than all is well again until the problem happens again.  This typically happens when I'm on the move as opposed to being at home; so perhaps an issue with transferring between cell towers but any advice to alleviate the problem would be appreciated.

Is this issue happening on both your work PC and MacBook or just one or the other? Are both PCs Macs? Is your "work" e-mail web-based that you can access from any web browser via just an Internet connection?
Do each of your computers use the same DNS server settings? The default would be your ISP's DNS servers.

  • No Verizon LTE connection

Hello, I purchased the new ipad back 32GB for verizon LTE last night.
I live in Fort Worth, TX which verizon has very strong LTE signals. However, I do not see LTE on top left and I always being connected to 3g.
I double checked that LTE is enabled in the setting. I haven't purchased the data yet, is that why I see no LTE? or regardless the data purchase,
should I see the LTE whenever LTE is available? I haven't bought the data yet because I don't need it until next week.
Any idea? Should I stop by at apple?

I have the EXACT same question, and am disheartened that the only reply has been someone that insists on replying without understanding the question. And questioning you on other aspects that don't matter.
To rephrase... If you buy a Verizon LTE iPad, but do not activate the cellular plan (yet), should "LTE" show up or not? Because "3G" shows up while I am in an LTE area. "LTE" has NEVER popped up.
The rest of the info is honestly irrelevant and doesn't need commentary. I don't need to buy a data plan yet (only need it 3 or so times a year), and am not going to spend $20 just to see if my unit is defective when someone can easily answer the question. I need to know if it's defective so I can return it now instead of when I NEED it (when I buy the plan.) Going to an apple store is out of the question. This is an EASY answer for someone who knows what they are talking about. It shouldn't be touched by someone who doesn't.
So... Should an "LTE" icon show up at the top if you haven't yet purchased a plan?

  • IPad 3 Verizon LTE sim issues

I have an iPad 3 32gb Verizon LTE.  I use the data service Verizon provides on an as needed basis. I had activated the 4G LTE service on my account one month and did not need to use it the following month so I deactivted it.  When I went to reactivate the same iPad on Verizon LTE network a few weeks later the service could not be reactivated.  I spent 3 hours at a Verizon store and we kind of figured out that it had to do with turning on and off the 4G sim.  From what I was told the 4g sim only on Verizon does not like to be turned on and off.  They had to delete my profile associated with my iPad through Verizon database and let me recreate a new profile on my iPad.  They gave me a new sim card and it still did not work (this is after resetting network setting and reprovisioning the account) I ended up having to erase my iPad and then it worked.
Now a month later my company decided that they want to start paying for our data plans on our iPads.  So I cancelled the current 4G LTE personal plan and was issued a new 4G LTE sim card that was tied into our business account.  (I was the one who issued it as I am in IT)  Now my Verizon iPad will not reactivate with the new sim card provided by Verizon that is to be billed to my company.  It seems like the same thing is occuring that happened previously on my iPad..
Anyone else having these issues of activating/disconnecting service with Verizon on the new iPad 3?
I had an iPad 2 and never had these issues.  I could just cancel and reactivate my account at any time.
Oh and Verizon hasnt been much help they are pretty **** clueless most of the time.

I'll add some fule to this fire, with a similar if not exactly the same issue w/ getting Verizon pre-paid service on my new iPad.
Background: I have a first generation iPad with At&t pre-paid month to month service, which works like a top...flawless. I am also stationed in Germany, and utilize this feature for our travels to the States, as it is very efficient and the iPad is lighter than a laptop. I can pay for a month and then turn it off upon return to Europe.
This past March, I purchase a new IPad w/ a Verizon sim, as before we moved to Germany we had Verizon cell service, which we were quite happy with. So one would think that an iPad w/ a Verizon sim would work just as well, if not better, than the At&t iPad. Negative.
I tried activating the new iPad cellular data in early May 12, only to receive an "Activation Error."  Three attempts later, and I call Verizon Tech Support for a remedy, and have all my info taken down with a reassurance that I will be called w/in 72 hours by their engineers to help resolve the issue. They are unable to issue me a trouble ticket, though, for my reference. four days later, I call again, explaining the situation, and there is seemingly no record of my information or situation. I again am assured of a call back w/ in 72 hrs from their engineers, and am informed that Verizon is having a few issues w/ the new iPad.
I decide to activate service on my "old" iPad, through At&t, and do so without issue. Hmmmm....
I also go into a retail store to see if an in-the-flesh Verizon tech can help me out.  Long story short-nope, they could not (without charging me a $35 activation fee along w/ a 2 yr contract for the service.)  As this was unacceptable to me, I declined their offer and moved along. (At&t never charged me a $35 activation fee!)
Three days later, I call Verizon again with similar results.  This tech now recommends that I take my new iPad, which I had sent to me from Apple via an online purchase in March 12, into an Apple Store as it was defective. After a lengthy conversation with the tech regarding this issue, I request to speak w/ her supervisor, as I have yet to have any return calls from "engineers" within 72 hrs and I am a long-term loyal Verizon customer. She places me on hold, and then the call is terminated. Amazing.
We just today returned to Germany today, and never were able to utilize the cellular data function of our new iPad w/ the Verizon sim during our travels.  I was also unable to get any assistance from Verizon over the past 17 days to reslove the issue. Not even a call back.  Had I a choice to do it again, I'd stick w/ the At&t version of the new iPad as well. Verizon's services are simply unsat, and all the personnel I spoke w/ were clueless and unable to resolve  my iPad issue.

  • Using a Verizon Lte phone in Europe with local SIM

I have a Verizon iPhone 4S and travel to France frequently. I am able to use my phone with a local French SIM, and it works fine. I am planning to get an iPhone 6, which will be 4G Lte. Will I be able to use that phone in France the same way I can use my 4S, which uses a micro sim card?

Thank you, but that isn't what I'm asking. I know it will be unlocked. As I said, I have an iPhone 4S, which I use in France. I am not familiar, having never used it, with 4G Lte technology, and what I was wondering was whether the Verizon iPhone 6, with that technology, will be able to use a local SIM in France. Do they make those phones, Verizon LTE, with two radios, LTE and GSM? Is it a GSM SIM that one would use in France, or is there only one SIM, which could be temporarily replaced with a local SIM?
    Thanks again for your answer.

  • IPhone 5 Verizon LTE problem

I have the 64GB iPhone 5 in white on the Verizon network.  Each day at a random time LTE will have a problem where I can't make a facetime call.  If I try and run a speed test either my up or down will not complete the test.  The only way for me to fix the issue is to toggle airplane mode and as soon as my phone picks up the Verizon LTE signal I can make a facetime call.
I have done some troubleshooting on my own and here are some of those steps and results.
I contacted Verizon and they "rebuilt" my line in their system.  I'm not sure what that means, but Verizon assured me it would fix any issues in their systems.
I have the issue on LTE only, 3G and Wifi have no issues with facetime and complete speeds tests every time without issue.
LTE in my area is a full 5 bars and when I'm not experiencing this issue I typically get 10-20Mb down/up
I contacted AppleCare and they suggested I do a reset.
I tried a reset on "Network Settings"
Nothing above has made any progress so tonight I'm trying a full reset on the phone per AppleCare instructions.  If that doesn't work I was told to take the phone into an Apple store.  The only issue with that is the 1 hour drive one way which I'm trying to prevent.
If anyone else is having the same issue please speak up or point me to a fix you have done.
    Thank you,
    Tom

I appreciate the heads up on the other thread but I'm not experiencing the same issue.  My LTE signal stays at 5 bars and doesn't drop to 3G yet I still experience slowdown and can't complete a speed test or surf the web.  Video services stop etc, so my data is effectively gone on LTE until I toggle Airplane mode or turn LTE off and use the 3G network.
For anyone that was following this thread its worth noting that I did a full restore of the phone and I still have connectivity issues on LTE.
Dialing *3001#12345#* on my Verizon iPhone5 brings up "Field Test" mode which shows my LTE signal strength at -82db.  After spending a little time on google -82 seems to be a decent signal strength and is reinforced by 5 bars of signal strenth.  I don't think the issue is with Verizon's network as they report no issues and the signal appears to be good.
At this point I think I will be scheduling an appointment at the Apple Store.  I'm very weary of driving an hour since the issues crops up at a randomly during the day.  I'd have a nagging feeling that everything will be working at my appointment which will have to be scheduled a few days out.
Oh well I'll update this thread once I have made some progress.

  • My Verizon for iPad app

What is going on with the My Verizon for ipad app? You go to open it up and it says system under maintenance try again later?

That must be progress in the making , I too have had the same problem since Last Christmas, just started getting the Under Maintenance , Click OK LOL  you see Verizon does not want you to know they have changed how bill us for data.. in 2 years I never went over 5 GIG a month I bought a IPAD for XMAS and went over the allowed 5G in 2 weeks , Watch your Data Close Oh no they wont tell you why ????

  • Does anyone else have issues with Verizon LTE service on the new iPad?

I have the new iPad. I have noticed that issues with the LTE signal have gotten progressively worse. When my iPad is sitting in 1 spot it will switch from 3 bars, to no service, to 3 bars, and so fourth. I might be on a website, or in an app that is using data and it works great. Then at random it says No Service again. I just added my iPad to my Verizon account with their new family data plan, so they sent me a brand new SIM card. I feel like I can rule that out.
I just want to know if anybody else has an issue with their iPad dropping service at random and jumping all over the board. I also have an iPhone on Verizon and it is with me always, I never have this problem with the iPhone. My iPad will say No Service but my iPhone will show nearly full service.
Just to add, I have switched off LTE for periods of time to see if things change. (that way both my iPhone and iPad are on 3G so I can compare) Things are no different when just running LTE.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. I am under warrenty and I have Apple Care. I hate taking stuff in and replacing it if I don't need to.
I am also signed up with a developer account through Apple, and my iPad has iOS 6 beta. This problem did not start with the beta software. It was the case before and after. I guess I was hoping if it was an issue Apple would address it with one of the revisions in iOS 6, but now I am starting to wonder if it is hardware.
    Thank you.

Many users have lost photos while preforming a restore from backup or upgrading the iOS.   Recall, only photos in the camera roll are backed up to iCloud.  There is a way to turn backups for camera roll on/off, perhaps these users had camera roll turned off.
Although the current devices don't have the photos, the following is advice for the future:
Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage,  tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
    IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream.  If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered.  I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".

  • How do you get a sim card for an LTE iPad?

How and where do you get a mini sim card for a new iPad? Does it work with the iPhone? I'm just saying this because I got a new iPad as a gift and it doesn't have a sim card, so how do I get one?
And what plan does it come with?

You can pick your provider. Most carriers offer data plans for iPads, giving you access to their 3G networks.
If you with to use LTE, then you are tied to the carrier specified by the model iPad you own; either AT&T or Verizon. Look in the small print on the back of your iPad. Model A1430 is AT&T, A1403 is Verizon. LTE currently works in the USA only.
If you have an iPhone already, then it may be easier / cheaper to use this as a Personal Hotspot. You will need to make sure that your iPhone plan allows tethering, but that may be cheaper than paying for an additional plan.

  • Only 3G on an LTE ipad?

I just got a Verizon ipad mini with retina display. I haven't signed up for cellular data service yet. But when I go into settings and turn on cellular data, an dame sure LTE is enabled, I'm still only seeing "Verizon 3G" in the corner of the screen. Meanwhile, my iphone 5S, a few inches away, shows LTE. Do I have a defective ipad or does it only connect to LTE after you sign up for a data plan?
Thanks in advance for everyone's advice!

Note footnote 3 in http://www.apple.com/ipad-air/specs/ that says for LTE support details you need to contact your cell service provider.

  • Does the Verizon 4G iPad have a removable SIM card?

Or is it only the AT&T version that has a removable SIM card?  And I am assuming that neither is unlocked and if colleagues in Europe wanted to buy a new iPad while in the US on business would not be able to get local service in their home country?  Thank you!
    Susan

Both have a SIM card slot.

    Wi-Fi + 4G for AT&T model: 4G LTE (700, 2100 MHz)3; UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
    Wi-Fi + 4G for Verizon model: 4G LTE (700 MHz)3; CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz); UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
I would go with the AT&T version for someone living in Europe.

  • I would like the Verizon version ipad but have an at

I was considering the Version version of the new ipad because of better 4g lte coverage. I have an AT&T plan for my iphone...Are there any potential problems going this route when I chose which ipad.

I have an AT&T iPhone 4. My original iPad was AT&T as well. My new iPad 3rd Gen is a Verizon. The iPad data plan is completely unrelated to the iPhone and as far as I know there is no way to link the 2 accounts nor is there a need to. The iPad is a month to month account and doesn't require a contract.
The disadvantage of the Verizon iPad is that you get 1 Gig less data for the same money, 2 Gig vs. 3 Gig. However you do get free hot spot teathering with the iPad that is not currently available with AT&T, plus AT&T typically charges and extra $20/month for teathering. Unless you are a heavy user 2 gig should be plenty. I used my iPhone as a hot spot ever since it was availabe connecting my iPad and my MacBook Air when traveling and in a year the most I used was 1.6 Gig in a month. Plus the iPad will warn you when you are getting close to the limit so you can add more data when needed.
