Verizon needs its own browser

Verizon needs to make a download for the computer like MSN Premium had,. So you can set the default e-mail and home page to Verizon 3.0 . I keep having problems staying logged on even though I check the box keep me logged in for 2 weeks. And my home page keeps going back to Verizon 2.0 which is a very poor page. I have had Tec support take over control of my computer several times , and make several changes,but the problem is still the same. The problem is not my computer, but it is with Verizon. The default e-mail for Windows 7 is Windows Live. They need to create their own browser.

Speak for yourself ... if Vz were to create and require the use of a custom browser -- I and most everyone I know would be immediately shopping for another provider.
Vz is an internet service provider ... the dialtone to the internet that the browser uses, so to speak.
The browser is simply a tool which uses that service -- and there are many varied browsers just as their are tools that people may want to use to complete a given task.
Requiring the use of a custom browser is like saying everyone must have the same model TV set or only use a certain style of telephone (oh wait ... Verizon tried that once upon a time long ago ...)
The problems you describe sure sound like local PC configuration issues to me --- perhaps something is erasing or clearing your cookie settings or reseting the home page settings on your local browser configuration. With respect to mail, if you don't like the way the Vz interface works, then use Live Mail to access your Vz mail -- the Live Mail client has a simple POP mail interface which will interface with Vz mail servers -- I'm pretty sure there is a configuration walkthru I saw here recently on the right values to use when configuring it ... if not, ask and someone I'm sure will provide it.

Thank you for reading the above question as it is, plus: I lost my Thunderbird computer internal email feature & was new & did not know how to put Yahoo or other into that function. I signed up for Mozilla Firefox for my Toshiba PC laptop, really liked it, but do not really use it. I restored my Thunderbird program, using Gmail for it...the Yahoo had failed. If I decide to delete my Firefox will that malaffect my Thunderbird Mozilla? Also, for some reason unknown to me, my Firefox does not recognize to use the Adobe Flash in my computer and requires its own...'usual? (I just deleted one of two carried.) Thanks. Lynn

First, Firefox and Thunderbird are separate programs. You can use one or the other or both. If you decide to uninstall Firefox, that should not have any ill effect on Thunderbird, but of course it's a good idea to make regular backups of your computer just in case.
Second, Internet Explorer uses a proprietary Flash player, so you do need a different one for Firefox. If you visit Adobe's "about" page using Firefox, it will push the correct plugin to you.

Why can't Verizon fix its own errors

Very simple problem. I have an IMAC and am paying for McAfee internet security. It is beyond Verizons ability to install this product to my computer because they have an erroneous "order pending" for several months. They can't seem to cancel the false order pending which somehow prevents my downloading the security package. I have spoke with a half dozen supervisors and agents, they still can't fix their own system.{edited for privacy}
The insult is added by promises to call back at specific times. ALL of which were not honored.
Four different supervisors looked at this case and all were unable to fix it. Requests to speak with a supervisors' supervisor were denied.
You would very hard pressed to find less competent customer service.

Does Firefox Need Its Own Flash Player Install?

This is a brand new computer. IE8 32 bit version works fine with youtube. I install Firefox 3.6.3 and youtube says I need to install flash player 10 (it's already installed !). Saw in this forum other people have the problem too, but no definite solution. One guy there proposed that maybe flash wasn't installed for Firefox. WHAT? I've been under the impression that the flash player installs once on a computer, and all apps that need it, use it. Do I really need to install a second flash player specifically for Firefox? And if so, how the hell do I do that?

IE uses a different version of Flash (ActiveX) thn other browsers use (the Plugin version), so yes you need to install Flash for Firefox (and Chrome, Safari, etc.).

PDF opening its own browser

I have a link to a pdf file on a jsp page. When a user clicks it it opens in a new browser and creates a new session. I am having issues with this, and I want to just open the pdf in the current browser. Is there any easy way to do this?

Does Time machine need its own drive exclusively?

I want to buy a thunderbolt duo drive from Western digital or use in my MBA. Is it possible to use this drive for time machine purpose as well as normal external drive for itunes and jpegs?

Time Machine will eventually take up all the free space on the partition it's backing up to. In addition, having your backups on the same drive as the original data won't help when that drive fails.

Does bootable clone need its own partition?

I have an external with two partitions, one is solely for TM and one is for general storage. I am going to make a bootable clone with Carbon Copy Cloner and house it in the general storage partition. What I am wondering is if other things can be stored in the storage partition in addition to the clone, or if it is best to have the the bootable clone by itself in one partition.

I will definitely play around some more with CCC. After looking at the program again, I think I noticed how to do it without erasing the partition. Thanks for the tip.
I guess another question I have is how often should I update the clone. Obviously the source disc will change fairly often, so I imagine regular updates of the clone are wise. Is there a way to do it without it doing the whole process (i.e. can it just update the changes made since the last clone)...?

OrdImage using its own database session?

I have been searching on the Internet and this forums, but I am unable to find an answer to my question, so I am asking it here: I have noticed that when a user enters to a screen with an OrdImage being displayed in it, the application module opens 2 database sessions instead of one. Furthermore, if I comment the af:media component used to display the OrdImage and I repeat the same test, only one database session is created. So for some reason, the OrdImage is using a separate database session from the rest of the screen.
Does the OrdImage type really need its own session? Is it possible to make it use the screen's one? Using two database sessions in the same screen is kind of a waste of resources, especially when that screen has a lot of users (like the one where he have the issue).

I have just found [this article|http://jobinesh.blogspot.com.es/2011/07/tips-on-using-afmedia-to-display.html] about OrdImage in ADF, and I see that the pagedef property CustomInputHandler="OrdDomainValueHandler" (which is already set in my application) is used to retrieve some information that cannot be get through the View Object. Is it possible that this property is the responsible for that second connection?

I've heard some people say OS needs its own drive, but people on this forum are known to have said OS and programs together are okay.
So my question is, is it better to separate OS and programs, or are the benefits very slim?

I have run multi-SSD RAID 0 arrays on various workstations and servers since 2011. No, it is certainly not "mainstream" theory, yes, you loose the ability for SSD vendor utilities to do cool SSD stuff (utilities from Samsung, Intel, etc.), and lastly are SSD RAID 0 arrays fast, yes, they are fast indeed!
My workhouse x58 build from 2011 uses a 5x 64GB Crucial C300 array on a Areca controller for the OS/boot drive (1500 MB/s reads, 500 MB/s writes). And my new 8-core 2014 build uses a 8x 128GB Crucial M550 array partitioned with 250GB for OS/programs and the rest for scratch, swap, and a bit of work area (also on an Areca controller with 28 channels, 2800 MB/s reads and 2300 MB/s writes). Is this for everybody, I would not say "no", I would say "heck no"! Do realize that when you have a 28-port SAS/SATA controller (I have lots of hard drives too), that having lots of small SSDs can provide good bang-for-the-buck vs. single or dual large SSDs (512GB or 1TB SSDs are pricey). Price wise, the 8x Crucial drives cost me just under what a single 1TB Samsung 850 Pro is selling for today - expensive, but not so crazy considering the cost for an 8-core build and 64GB of RAM.
Finally, does a RAID 0 OS/programs drive help Premiere Pro performance?(this is an Adobe Premiere forum section) No, not really. Does it help some other applications, absolutely. Do all programs open quickly, yup. Does putting Adobe bridge "scratch" files on a big SSD RAID help, yes indeed! I am not using Lightroom, but suspect that is another application that would likely benefit from a large SSD array.
The best performing SSDs to do a RAID 0 with are the Intel 730 series drives, but those drives are still pretty pricey. The higher end Crucial drives (now being re-branded to Micron) really scale well with RAIDs. I've read good and bad things about using the 850 Pro drives for a RAID.

Firefox is starting up on its own. I don't want it to because sometimes I don't need it, and when I go to shut down, computer won't let me because Firefox is running and I didn't know it. What to do?

I used to be in control of whether or not Firefox would load for any particular session on my computer. Now, probably after some update I got in the recent past, Firefox has a mind of its own. It opens every time I turn on my computer. There are times I don't want to use any browser, including Firefox. For example, sometimes I just want to look at my mail. Don't have time for anything else, but my computer won't let me shut it down. Why? Firefox sneaked in. So I have to find it and close it before I can shut down the computer.
HELP!!! How can I stop Firefox from automatically loading?

First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list

Yes of course. Jsut go to "Settings > iCloud" delete her account from your device and then start creating a new one just for you.

Are you sure it is a 4G iPod? Does it have a camera?

Display refuses to wake from sleep; restarts on its own or needs a restart

I'm having this issue since 10.9.3 over the past couple (Mac Pro Early 2009 with Apple LED Cinema Display).
The screen goes black at the end of the screen saver and into sleep mode. It sometimes restarts on its own and generates a 'This machine restarted because of an error' prompt or needs a hard restart, generating the same notice.
Tried a few of things (turing off screen savers, adjusting sleep, deleted com.apple.systempreferences.plist), issue continues to persit.

Resetting SMC could resolve the problem.
