Verizon page is extremely slow

I upgraded my internet speed to 25/15. I have Fios DVR, many computers(wired and wireless) and wireless devices such as PSPs and ipods, and sometimes use my smartphone as a DVR remote. I don't have any problems, except for when I go to pay my bill every month. The VZ page is extremely slow, and to me is junky. The computer I use to pay my bill is a wired connection, and may be a little older, but the VZ page is the only page I have problems with. And PLEASE  stop asking me to install the Google toolbar. I hate Google! Don't they know enough about me already? Why won't I update Google map on my phone? Look at the permissions! Other than that, great job! Fios, phone and internet is reliable, and don't give me any problems. But Google......c'mon!

I love Google, but I hate toolbars. So...yeah.

  • Pages runs extremly slow

    I am using a powerbook 17", 1.67 GHZ, 1.5 GB RAM with 10.4.2.
Pages is excellent but extremely slow. When placing a table or a graphis, it takes seconds for changing on letter. Same when moving a graphic on the side to her right place. Sometimes when clicking on a object to move it, we still have to wait 10 - 15 seconds.
We like pages and the great user interface. But the speed makes it impossible for using it in the whole company. Can anybody help?
    Thanks a lot
PS: all other programs are running fine and quick.

One of the things which is slowing pages down for you is the wrapping.
What I have done in the past, while making templlates, is to use the layout feature for the majority of the text flow if a page has a graph or large image in it. Rather than have the program wrap the text with the precious cycles on my 800Mhz G4 ibook, I preformat the text layout. If you are making a large number of pages in your documents where the graphic is in the same spot then try building a layout for the text and then placing the graphic, table or other element where the page is 'empty'.
A hint is to use the upper part of the page for your images and stuff. It iss easier to have the text start lower down the page since it can be a bit difficult dictatin where the text will stop on a page.
Another thing is if you have been using the program for a while, save the document. This will commit the version of the document to the hard drive instead of having the revisions and text sitting in memory. It's also a good habit to get into.

  • Web pages loading EXTREMELY slow

It takes FOREVER for any web page to load (we're talking like several minutes even to load Google search), but it shows I have full signal strength. However, my husband's MacBook is functioning fine as well as his PC which all use the same network. I have an AirPort and AirPort extreme. I've even tried directly connecting to the AirPort extreme to see if that would help the speed problem, and it did--but only for a few minutes. After that, it displayed the same problems as before--MIND-BENDINGLY SLOW page load. I've cleared the cache, history, renew DHCP, reset the router... everything I can think of and still to no avail.
This all started happening after I was using my MacBook to connect my XBox360 to the internet and had to change some of the MacBook settings. I have since restored all the settings and turned off Internet Sharing.
I took it to the Genius Bar, twice, and they said it has to be my network, because it connects and loads pages at lightning speeds when I'm on the Apple Store network. Ugh. This is sooo frustrating and has basically rendered my mac useless.
    Ideas?

Here are a couple things you can try:
    1) If possible, bypass your router, and connect directly to your cable/dsl modem.
    2) Try a different DNS (domain name server). This can resolve the problem if the slowness stems from looking up (i.e. "contacting") the web server. You are probably currently using the DNS of your ISP. Since your husband is not experiencing the problem, this might be a stretch, but still worth a shot. You can try OpenDNS (https://www.opendns.com/start/)

  • Pages 09 extremely slow

I have both the new Pages (5.5.2) and the old Pages (4.3) from iWork 09 installed. I am running 10.10.3.
In the past few weeks, I noticed that the save dialogue has become unbearably slow in expanded form. Sometimes, it may take up to 10 or 20 secs just to load a folder. It doesn't seem to matter how many items are currently in the folder. I tried 1 folder with 44 items, one with no files in it at all. So it's not  a problem of rednering previews or anything like that. But in collapsed form, the save dialogue works much better.
I'm on a 2013 rMBP with SSD, so it's generally very speedy. The new Pages (5.2.2) is perfectly responsive in these cases. I tried verifying the disk and repair permissions to no avail.
And I just noticed this in the past few weeks, so I think it may have something to do with software, but am unsure of what exactly.

    jaxjason,
I am not using a 'Category Function' I just assign my own categories to my bank account entries (such as 'Groceries', 'Car Insurance', etc.) My spreadsheet then sorts out the entries from files down loaded from the banks into summary tables by month and 'Category' using the following:
    In version 08
    =SUMIF('VISA - 2008' :: $datecat,CONCATENATE($MonthNum,$Category),'VISA - 2008' :: $Amount)
    or in version 09
    =SUMIF('VISA - 2008' :: $datecat,CONCATENATE($MonthNum,$Category),$Amount)
I am using an iMac 24 inch (Intel) with the latest OS X 10.5.6.
As I said it takes four times longer to open the file and it takes four times longer for the spreadsheet to calculate every 'Category' assignment I make. I have tried saving the file from the new version but that did not make any difference.
The spreadsheet consists of five 'Sheets' two containing the years transactions in our VISA and Checking account downloaded from the Banks Two 'Summary' Sheet one for Visa and one for Checking Account and a 'Final Summary' with three tables where the results from the VISA and Bank Accounts are finally collected into different forms.

  • Page load EXTREMELY slow - maybe due to Muse re-optimizing JPGs as PNGs?

Muse Team, please help and advise.
I'm using a bunch of transparency, shadow and bevel effects on photos in my website, and the load time is horribly slow. I assume due to the PNGs that Muse has created to achieve some of these effects - some of them are more than a MB in size! I've tried to open these Muse-generated PNGs and re-optimize them down in Photoshop, but each time I transfer the down-sized PNGs to my FTP, they bloat back up again. The website in question is www.chuckburgi.com. It contains 5 bloated PNGs that are semi-transparent and I see them as down-sized on my desktop but they bloat back up to their original huge size when I FTP them or put them on Dropbox. How can I fix this problem?
    Thank you!

    Hi Zak,
Bad news. I think maybe there is ANOTHER BUG.
I tried the fix you suggested - taking out fill opacity and trying the effect with object opacity instead. The rollover stopped working. The hidden image shows on rollover but the picture states don’t change.
So, I figured maybe I should create the images in PS first and just import them for the rollover states, that way I could avoid using any opacity settings in Muse. I made two JPGs to size and imported them. Rollover still broken.
I started a fresh document and brought a newly created Composition Widget into it (the built in Tooltip widget from Muse), and added my own pictures to the States. Still broken.
I brought in a fresh Composition Widget from Muse Themes and set that one up with PNGs instead of JPGs for the images. Again, hidden image shows but rollover is broken.
I inserted a plain image (not a composition) and set the rollover states in that - that one works.
It appears that rollovers in Composition Widgets are broken. So I can’t even TOUCH my original site’s block of show/hide photos to fix them without the actions breaking.
    Can you help?
Here’s a URL for my test site:
    http://chuckbugtest.businesscatalyst.com/index.html
I am posting the Muse file for that and the image files to my Dropbox:

  • Pages with JavaScript open extremely slow IE 10/Win 8

Few weeks ago, started noticing some pages opening extremely slow. Top 2 examples are nbcnews.com and oregonlive.com, with the commonality between the 2, lots of scripting (javascript). The sites don't allow me to scroll right away, takes about 20 seconds
before that's available. The content is slowly loading, takes about 2 minutes to fully load. I am noticing a loading wheel next to the mouse pointer that is going nuts, appearing to process a large amount of info.
I went through lots of different troubleshooting steps; below are some of the things I tried:
    - Reset IE/clear cache/ temp files
    - Ran disk optimization
    - Ran Full antivirus scan, with computer coming up clean
    - Logging in under another user
    - Compatibility mode
    - Trying the sites on another windows 8/ IE 10 computer on the same network-works just fine
    - Installing chrome, same problem
    - disabling scripts on pages from internet options, the sites load quick, but half of the content is missing.
The only thing I've done that seemed to have fixed the issue temporary is uninstalling and re-installing a cumulative update that MS released last month. The sites were loading quickly right of the bat, after the update was re-installed. Later though, it
ended up getting worse again. Also,  I compared the results from the metric at (https://www.webkit.org/perf/sunspider/sunspider.html) and on the troubled computer, results show Total
of 575ms response time, while on another computer, it's 120ms response time.
Please advise if there is anything else I can (besides resetting the OS) to resolve the issue. Thanks!

Use the Developer Tools to find out where your delay is.  FWIW the NBC one was noticeably slower opening than the other.

  • Acrobat 8.1.2 Pro: Extremely slow printing

Whenever Acrobat Pro (8.1.2 on OSX 10.4.11) is used to print, pages print extremely slow, up to 5 minutes or more per page. When printing documents, bigger dan 100 pages, in several hours it will print, but contributes a zero kb file to the print queue. My only solution so far is to use the free acrobat reader for printing purposes, which prints the same document flawlessly in minutes...
Anybody have the same issues and/or better solutions?
    Thanks in advance

I think this is a problem related to 8.1.2.
We're on Windows XP SP2 on very new PCs with no printer driver changes. The Reader version is now 8.1.2, and a simple, black and white 1 bit PDF file that took a few seconds to print before, now takes minutes to even send to the printer after the upgrade. (The last workstation that upgraded this morning is now complaining of the exact same issue.) I've even tried removing my SOPHOS anti-virus to see if that's the issue - no change in Reader's print performance. All other applications print fine. I can't seem to troubleshoot the problem, but I believe it's something Adobe changed in 8.1.2. Maybe it's time to seriously try an alternative reader...

  • Macbook air wireless extremely slow

I have a brand new macbook air and I'm having trouble with the wireless performance.
I don't think its the same problem everyone else is having. I don't think I'm losing my wifi connection (I've only seen it drop once).
But, loading web pages is extremely slow. Every web page takes minutes to load, some time out.
This doesn't happen on any of the other computers on our network- including an older macbook and a macbook pro that we have.
    Any ideas?

Power off the router. Wait awhile. Power it back on. Wait until all the lights are lit up properly.
    It will take a while.
    Restart the computer.
    Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.

  • I know why Pages sometimes very slow!!!!

Hi, I faced the problem with Pages become extremely slow. Sometimes Activity Monitor showed that Pages used 58-70% of CPU (I run PowerBook with 2 Gigs of RAM)
After readying all related threads and trying everything, the problem still remained.
Then I tried something else - I changed all graphic settings from "Fixed on page" to "Moves with text." Bingo! No Pages flies consuming only 10% of CPU.
My document was only 20 pages long and had a couple dozens of graphic items (some of them were groupped), still they consumed a lot of computational power.
So, if your Pages document becomes slow and you suffer as I did - check how you postition graphics on the page and try what I have done.
    Have a nice day.
    Val from New Orleans

I've tried all of the above to no effect. When I take one of the templates that Apple offers I can type at a normal speed. However, when I create an original document, text goes in sooo slowly as to make the program unusable. I have a simple two page three column brochure with about 400 wds in it and three simple jpeg files. I quite using Pages 1 for this very reason and Pages 2 hasn't seemed to have corrected the speed issue. Frankly Appleworks works better. I'm running a G4 1GHz Aluminium Powerbook and while it's over two years old it should have plenty of horsepower to handle this simple program. I've gleaned the lists here and other than anecdotal 'fixes' that work sometimes and sometimes don't I've yet to find a reason or a solution for this issue. Pages 2 will be put back on the shelf. No Office killer this...yet. On the other hand Keynote makes the buy worth while. I'm just disappointed that the world's best programmers have dropped the ball here. Frankly, I shouldn't have to implement 'work arounds' for a program this simple.

  • How to fix extremely slow printing from web pages with latest updates (iMac) & HP Office jet printer. (It was not a problem with earlier versions of Firefox & same computer & printer.)

The latest two updates of Mozilla Firefox are not useful for me because of extremely slow printing of web pages. It was never a problem before. Same iMac and HP officejet printer. How can I either fix it, or revert to an earlier version of the browser (without losing all my bookmarks) which didn't cause this problem?

Try scanning from your Mac.  Use Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Click once on the scanner on the left side, then click on Show Details along the bottom.  Along the right side you will see LOTS of options for scanning and saving.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Extremely slow in every way. Typing, loading, moving and even just scrolling from the top of the page to the bottom. Keeps getting worse. Maddingly frustrating!!! Help!!

Firefox has gotten extremely slow. Typing, loading, searching, even just scrolling from the top of a page to the bottom. My daughter had the same thing happen to her and had to get her computer stripped down and completely reloaded. I don't have that option. It has no viruses and has been completely freed of all things that could slow it down.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== About a month ago. It is getting worse.

Hmm... try downloading the [http://www.firefox.com latest] version... but if that doesn't work then try [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode]. Not sure what could be causing it...

  • Safari is extremely slow to load pages & saving my bookmarks to my folders

why is safari so extremely slow in loading pages? it can just about load my e-mail, if I wait about 5 minutes & I cannot check my t mobile cell phone balance because it gets stuck loading the page.
Also I cannot get it to save bookmarks into my designated named bookmark folders anymore, it only will save to the bookmarks bar

I have also heard about the cover flow feature, but I do not see it in my safari, where is it?
Look at this picture and you'll find it. Just click on the marked area/button.

  • Pages on iPad2 is working extremely slow

Hi, I updated my iPad to iOS 8.1 but since then my Pages is working extremely slow, first in updating the new docs from iCloud Drive, then in being able to work in them. It takes about ten minutes just to get into one document. Can anybody give me a good suggestion in to solving this problem?

(Wow, really unethical, Apple took down my last post, so "rewording this more nicely" I guess)
Agreed. I honestly cannot begin to justify how irresponsible Apple has been over this. I have lost a computer tha may have been damaged by Yosemite, and lost some data through iWork and the apps are totally unusable for the most part. Two classes that require a presentation which I teach were impacted. This is threatening peoples' livelyhoods.
From what I have seen, this largely stems from problems with iCloud Drive. iWork apps crash CONSTANTLY and don't even function when there is an online connection, but turning off the functionality gives you a slight chance before he apps freeze, slow down, or become unusble again.
In the meantime, it seems Apple users are just stuck waiting till the next update. I couldn't even type this response without two crashes from Safari.
