Verizon Palm Centro ringtone issues

I have A Verizon Wireless Palm Centro and I have some songs on Ptunes I want to use as ringtones. I'm not getting a card anytime soon so can someone just please find a FREE software for me that will turn the songs either on my computer to MIDI files or whaterever will work with my phone. thnx!

Songs can easily "DL" right to your phone from your computer. It's all explained clearly in the User Guide that ships with every device (on the Installation Disk in pdf format), and is also available online at Palm.com.:
First Open Pocket Tunes on your phone, then Windows Media Player. When both programs are up and running, plug in your HotSync cable, but do not press the button to Hotsync!
Windows: Open Windows Media
Player on your computer. On the Sync
tab, select Set Up Sync. Select Finish.
In the Sync tab, select the files and
playlists you want to sync manually.
Select Start Sync. The files are
transferred to your smartphone.
This will send the whole library to your card. There is an option to "Not Sync Automatically" that will then just open the library window in Windows Media Player on the right pane. You can then drag and drop any songs you want on the card into this window. When the songs are in the window that you want, then press the "Start Sync" button below the list in Windows Media Player.

Changing a proxie number on a verizon palm centro.

hi all,
I am trying to change the proxie number on my palm centro, but as it being on a locked network, i need to modify the network settings, or at least i think thats how i do this. I am sorry i am not that skilled at this, but i would like to change my proxie code so any help would be great.

Proxie number? Is this to change your voice mail login? Also anything locked to the network you should call Verizon on. They can update the setting on the device.
Also and forgive my ignorance on this what is your ultimate goal? If I know this I might be able to help you further.

Palm Centro Ringtones

Hi everyone
Was wondering if anyone could help. I just purchased the new Palm Centro from Sprint. My friend told me about a site where you can download ringtones for free and send it to your phone. The ringtone is on my phone but i'm unable to set it as one. Can anyone help?

Palm Centro - Button Issues (new)

Last month I dropped my palm centro in a bowl of water (aka my toilet... ). I let it dry in a bowl of uncooked rice and everything returned to normal. All the buttons worked, and the touchscreen function worked normally. Recently though suddenly the buttons stopped working. The last couple of days have been humid and that may have something to do with it but I tried turning my phone off and removing the battery to let it dry out. Only the touchscreen function works, making navigating around my phone very tedious and difficult. Sometimes I get stuck in an application and so I have to remove the battery and when I put it back in all of the buttons work momentarily. Is there anything I can do to get them to work permanently again? Thank you for your time.

That is unfortunate to hear.
You can try a hard reset to resolve the issue. The hard reset will erase all data on the device. Make sure you sync to the PC to backup your data.
If the hard reset does not correct the issue, then the Centro will need to be repaired.

Constant freezing on verizon Palm Centro

I have been going crazy trying to use my piece of $*#! centro recently because it freezes so often. I have third party apps on it, but it's a smartphone (not too smart if you ask me) right? It's suppossed to be able to handle these applications. I have tried everything but it freezes in between calls, right after making a call, and sometimes just for no reason. I returned it and got a refurb and still same thing. When is palm going to actually do something about this? I know there are other posts about this but obviously palm doesn't give a rats behind about it because they are too busy promoting there new pre. I have been a loyal palm user for a long time and do like all the apps on it. If the palm apps can be used on a iphone, I would jump over in a heartbeat. Has anyone done anything to their centro to resolve this issue?

90% of the time when a device is freezing this can be attribute to software. In other words there is a good chance there is an imcompatible 3rd party app, corrupted data, or corrupted application running on the device causing this problem to happen. Easiest way of testing this is to hard reset the device and use the device for a couple days without syncing your data back to see if the same problem occurs. Palm Centro ringtone question

I recently loaded some AAC ringtones on my Centro. I can set them as general defaults and have successfully set any of them as a "contacts" ringtone for my home number. I tried to set one of them up for my wife's mobile number under "contacts" and for some reason it will not play the ringtone that I have selected for it (neither the new ringtones or the existing ringtones). The phone will only use the "known caller" tone for her mobile number.
Any ideas on what is going one with this one?
Any help is appreciated.

Ok, try a 10 second soft reset by taking out the battery for at least 10 seconds. This allows the device to power off completely.
If that doesn't work, Try a hard reset. The hard reset will erase all data and get the Centro back to factory defaults so sync the Centro before the hard reset. If you are assigning the ringtones according to the manual and they don't work properly, then start over with the device.

Palm Centro/Outlook Sync

Hi,
I have a Verizon Palm Centro, about 2 years old. When I sync using the USB cable, I continually get the message that all databases have synced correctly. However, nothing changes in either my phone or the Outlook on my PC (Windows XP, Outlook 2007).
This all used to work until a few months ago I started getting messages that one of my databases was not syncing (forget which one it was). This happened shortly after I added ACT! software to my PC, which operates off of Outlook. I called Verizon tech support and was stepped through a "fix". After the fix, I was no longer getting error messages, however I now realize that no syncing was actually taking place, at least not with Outlook. (BTW, I am willing to uninstall ACT! if that will help).
I need to get this fixed, and have had little luck in getting through on the phone to a Verizon tech support person.

Try these steps to configure your device.
Double-click the HotSync icon(located in the System Tray).
Alternate navigation: Click Start> Programs (All Programs)> Palm> HotSync Manager.
Select the desired device / profilefrom the HotSync Manager settings formenu.
Click Connections.
Ensure USBis checked.
Click Applications.
Select the desired Conduitthen click Configure.
Ensure the desired Actionis selected for the conduit then click OK.
Synchronize the Files-Updates and synchronizes the data on both the handheld and desktop computer, using the most current information as the standard. This setting is typically used for day-to-day HotSync operations.
Desktop Overwrites Handheld- Uses the information on the desktop computer to replace any information on the handheld. Typically, this option is used in restoring lost information to a handheld.
Handheld Overwrites Desktop- Uses the information on the handheld to replace any information on the desktop.
Do Nothing- Does not synchronize or replace any data on either the handheld or desktop computer.
8.Repeat steps 5 and 6for each of the desired conduits..
9. Click Done.

Long story,made short...I had a Palm centro 690 that got smashed,my carrier is with at&t,I purchased a palm centro 690 "verizon" no contract phone from e-bay without giving it much thought.Can i use my at&t sim card in it even though it's a palm centro"verizon phone?

No, you can't use a SIM card in a Verizon phone. SIM cards only work in GSM design phones, while Verizon is a CDMA phone. Totally different radio with no SIM slot at all!

Palm Centro - Verizon - will not recognize memory card

I have the new Palm Centro from Verizon. Had multiple problems with the pda and now with the memory card. I have a Sandisk micro sd 512MB card. It works on my old Moto phone and in the card reader on the computer but the phone does not beep when it is inserted and the menu says "no card inserted." I do not have another card to try at this time. Do I have a bad phone unit?

Did you follow Palm's Guide to Upgrading when moving to the Centro? Or did you sync to the same username of the old device?
If the latter, that is the source of your problem. You'll need to Hard Reset the phone and rename the /Backup directory on your computer before doing a HotSync.
How to Upgrade from a Previous Palm device to a Newer One: http://kb.palm.com/ and enter 12926 (General Upgrade guide) or 45175 (Upgrade to Centro) into the "solution ID:" box (lower right).

How to set "from" field in Versamail 4.0.1 EAS / Palm Centro Verizon

I have set up a Palm Centro to sync via Activesync using Versamail 4.01.00. All seems to be working normally but there doesn't seem to be a place to set the senders proper first and last name as the sender. When I send an outbound message the recipient receives the message from login "username" instead of "Firstname Lastname". Anyone know where to change this?

Palm Centro 690 - for Verizon

Hello - I am hoping that someone can help me - I have just recently received my new Palm Centro from Verizon which I have had for a week now - The problem I am encountering is - there are times that I hit the power button and it goes on without a problem and there are other times that it does a hard reboot - WHY does it do that - am I hitting something to completely power it down?
There has been 2 times already that I have to take the battery out and put it back on in order to turn the palm on - and
There has been a couple of times that that I hear almost a static noise and then it goes to a hard reboot -
Can anyone explain to me why this does this??
thank you for any help that you can offer - I really happy with this device but if it is something that I cannot rely on then I am going to have to possibly return it.

1. - will I be able to have all the old information that was on my Z22 on my centro ~ OR will I be starting from scratch?
You will have the data from the Z22. The renaming of the backup folder only affects the settings, 3rd party apps., etc. in the backup folder.
2. - After I rename the old back up folder ~ Do I have to reinstall the Verizon Centro program?
NO, the beauty of this method is that the only thing you need to do is rename the backup folder to backup.old, Hard reset your device and sync. You should be back in business without all the hassles you have been experiencing.
3. - After I rename the old back up folder ~ do I have to choose a new username?
NO, you will sync with the same username so you can get all your data in the existing username to the Centro.
Make sure before you sync, after renaming the backup folder to backup.old and the hard reset, to set the conduits to desktop overwrites handheld.
If you follow the instructions in the previous post, you should be A-OK.

Palm Centro GSM Unlocked freezing issues still unresolved?

Hi, I'm one of the many many (yes, we exist and we ARE MANY, even if Palm keeps ignoring us) unhappy Centro owners that purchased a smartphone that (ironically) doesn't work as a phone... I'm writing from Mexico and I bought a Palm Centro with Telcel.
I don't think it's necessary to again describe the problem because it's been discussed a lot here and in other respected and popular Treo/PDA forums... just google "Centro freeze" and you'll see for yourself.
I just wanted to know a couple of things:
1.Is Palm ever going to adress this issue as an official bug and offer a ROM/Firmware update solution or are they cowardly going to turn they're backs on us?
2. Has anyone suffering from this issue tried the custom ROM update offered by some guy at TreoCentral and did it work?
3. Flashing and/or changing the ROM of my quasi-phone voids warranty?
I hope someone can help us, the once satisfied and loyal Palm users now turned into desperate postin/ranting machines...

Palm Centro Issue With Yahoo Mail Plus POP via Versamail

I have a Palm Centro and have been using Versamail for 3 1/2 years with my Yahoo Mail Plus account via POP. On September 12th I stopped having the ability to send or receive POP email on my Yahoo Mail Plus account. I have spoken with Sprint & Yahoo. I have done all the steps they have asked and I have even gone as far as replacing my phone with another Palm Centro and still have the same issue. I know the config is correct as it was working for so long. I can use my Gmail POP in Versamail fine. I receive the error when setting up the Yahoo Mail Plus account in Versamail when I click on "Test Settings" I receive the following... "Error connecting to server. Please check your network or server settings and re-sync." Does anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks.

actually some e-mail providers like yahoo free account, msn mail and free hot mail does not work with the mail application, as you told me that it needs to enable the pop server for such mail
and about the iphone are you sure that ur using the mail application in iphone, you must be using safari to browse through ur mails
yahoo mail plus is compatible with the mail application but it comes for a price so here you could either use safari to go through your mail or go in for some other free account like AOL which will work with the mail application

Palm Centro... Ringtones.. HELP PLEASE!

so i know u can set certain ringtones for certain people when they call....
but can u have a certain ringtone for a certain person when they text you? because i know when u go
to your contacts and choose a ringtone for that person that ringtone will ring when that person calls you
but what if i wanted that same ringtones 4 when they text u? cause on my palm centro i would set a certain ringtone for
a person and itll ring that tone if they call me but it WONT ring that tone when the person texts me.. it goes to my defualt..

I however don't use it and you may want to double check with the vendor of the software, but it does say on the specs

Now that could mean two things to me, One it could mean you can set a custom mp3 ringtone for all sms messages, or you can set custom mp3 ringtones for individual ringtones.

Retail sources for new Palm Centro (Verizon?)

I recently lost my Palm Centro (Verizon), and would like to replace it with another Palm Centro. Unfortunately, it no longer seems to be avaiable from either Palm or Verizon. Does anyone know of a retail (not eBay) source for the Palm Centro (Verizon) that is not excessive in price (i.e., over $100?). I am hoping to locate a new one. Thanks.

You are looking for a discontinued model, so your sources are pretty much limited to after-market places such as eBay. I doubt very much that you will find any new ones at any traditional retail outlets.
