Verizon ran FIOS but claims they don't offer it here
Does anyone know who I can contact to get Verizon to update their own Engineering records?!
I'm buying a new house and closing next week. The current owner informed me that Verizon laid fiber optic lines over a year ago along the road in front of the driveway (it's a very reasonable length driveway in case you're wondering) but they had just chosen not to use it. However, Verizon's records show that the only service available to me is the pathetically slow 1mbps DSL!
I have called customer support 3 times now. The first two times they opened "engineering tickets" to have my address updated and said I would receive a phone call or email within 48 hours but I waited a week both times with no response. The third time I called, today, the lady said there is no such thing as an engineering ticket and that all she could do was put me in to be "notified" when service is available. What in the world?? Why would they spend all this money laying lines and not actually allow me to use them when I want to?
Does anyone have any idea who I can contact that can actually get something done? The customer service rep today actually suggested that I ask a "local technician" when I see them! Like they are chilling at the bottom of my driveway waiting for me to flag them down and ask them a question?
You didn't say if any of your new neighbors have Verizon FIOS. Quite possible a optical cable (NOT FIOS local service) was run through your area. They do use it for longer distance connections.
Also possible they are still no ready to roll it out to your area, but are planning to. This is usually the case only in some areas they have commitments to install FIOS in. In general they are not planning to roll out to any new areas that they hadn't previously signed agreements with the local authorities.
And always possible you are on the wrong side of a street that represents some boundary.
They bad thing about request to have engineering check out, is they DON'T usually contact you about what they found out.

i am replacing ram in an early 2009 imac. easy - right? but the pulling on the tabs didn't work. i have had the ram sticks out before; but now they don't budge. should i apply more pressure? use a tool to pull harder? will the tabs break off?

the computer has beem working for years after my 1st ram removal; but i may have pushed them back too hard. i did pull firmly - tried pulling up slightly; tried tugging on the sides of the stick; pulling in pulses. the only thing i have not tried is using needle nose plyers with protection on the tab film itself.
have you had the pulling harder ever work? or break the tab? -
Up until the beginning of this month my Thunderbird was working fine with my roadrunner email address. I have not downloaded any new software or made any changes to my settings during this time. Now I can no longer send emails (although it claims they are sent) and I never get an error message. I'm definitely in online mode, can receive all messages fine, and can send messages from my road runner server fine through webmail. I have checked to ensure no firewalls or antiviruses are blocking my outgoing messages and know the SMTP is correct. Please help!

FaceTime and iMessages worked fine on my ipad mini but now they don't please help
Okay so I was on face time when suddenly for the first time my ipad mini froze so I held down the home and off button like anyone else would do. Then when it turned back on I went back onto face time and it asked me to enter my username and password which I found a bit weird so I did. It then said that the username or password I entered was incorrect so I did it again it said the same thing. So I went on the App Store downloaded an app and it asked me to enter my password I did and it worked fine. Went back to enter my username and password for FaceTime and it said it again so I changed my password tried it again it still said it was incorrect. Then I tried it on my iPod and it works fine my question is why is my FaceTime and iMessages suddenly not working but my App Store and everything else works fine I use Face time all the time and I really need it can anyone help me because I don't know what to do

How are you trying to open the photos?
- from windows explorer? - double licking or right clicking and selecting Open with?
- by loading the editor and go to File -> Open?
Looking back at your other threads you seem to have had this problem before - what keeps changing?

Ring File Unavailable--Nothing has changed, but now they don't work.
I'm receiving an error message of "Ring File Unavaible". I have ensured it is converted to 8000hz, mono, 8-bit mu law and all of the variables. My Ringlist.xml is good to go. I am accounting for the use of capital letters. The error is not a bad ringlist. The rings worked before, so there is no reason they shouldn't work now. I am restarting the TFTP server everytime I make changes. I deleted everything out of the TFTP File Management and re-uploaded everything in case they were corrupt or anything. I'm at a loss. What else am I missing here?

When my iPod syncs, over 100 songs (much of the library, actually) no longer download. What happened? This used to work just fine.
This just happened to me this morning. When I left work on Friday, everything was working in iTunes. And now this morning, I open up iTunes and nothing plays. I did all the troubleshooting from http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610 and nothing helped. Anyone have any ideas???

HP says they don't offer drivers because
They come preinstalled on OSX 10.4. I unchecked the printer drivers customize option on install and now I need to go back and install the HP driver.
I tried to from the OSX install but you can't install just the drivers without the OS.
Anyone have an HP Laser Jet 4000 OSX 10.4 printer driver?While I've never used it for Printer Drivers, I have used Pacifist to install other applications which I have mistakenly deleted.
It's pretty handy, so you might want to check it out.
If Pacifist isn't going to work out for you... you could always go the long route and re-install Tiger using the Archive and Install method. -
I've successfully downloaded audio books to my iPod for years but now they don't show up on iTunes, not under Music, not under books or Audiobooks - nowhere!

This could be a result of Automatic Downloads not being enabled, the apps were too large to download via the cellular data network or a cellular data connection was not available at the time of download. The best option would be to download the missing apps via the steps in the second article below.

My husband and I stopped today at a Verizon store in Fort Myers, just to check out of curiosity the deals they were offering regarding the new Iphones (we have Iphones 4s) currently we still have our unlimited data plan; everything sounded interesting at first, phone features are nice, lady rep was nice, until the real question pops up; what will be the plan change since they don't offer unlimited anymore? (if we get new phones we can't keep our plan)
Their response: Ohh well if you want to keep paying the same per month then you unlimited will be downgraded to a 2GB data plan..... WHATTTTTT!!!! never mind our current usage is 6GB on a 4 phones family unlimited plan..... on top of that she added, well due to your usage you may need to get the 10GB data plan = $100 + phone line per phone + taxes ..... which will add between $ 40 to 60 to my bill and this is not counting any extra ghost charge fees they love to add on the bills every now and then with bogus excuses.... sorry Verizon!!! we have been loyal customers for years and this is what we get??? on top of that we tried to get a hold of someone at customer service over the phone and they put you in hold for over 40 minutes.... extremely frustrating and disappointing.... So perhaps if, as you say they are leaving customer without any options, I would have no choice but to sign a 10 GB plan and suck in my higher bill, but Verizon is not giving me any confidence or assurance that I won't get any surprise charges on my bill and I say this knowing for sure that there is NO WAY POSSIBLE we can use the 10 GB a month, that is concerning.

In order for Verizon to be in breach of contract there has to be a contract. If your contract is up them there is no contract. Also this from your customer agreement that you AGREED to.

We may change prices or any other term of your Service or this agreement at any time,but we'll provide notice first, including written notice if you have Postpay Service.
Thirdly no one is forcing you to sign a contract. Verizon gives you the option to keep your unlimited if you pay full price for the phone. Verizon doesn't have to even have to offer that. Eventually everyone is going to have to be on a More Everything plan and there isn't a unlimited data option on that for obvious reasons.
There aren't any ghost charges and my data has been correct every month. Hmmmmmm. Maybe I'm just special. I guess I'm on some "do not overcharge" list.
If you really need unlimited data there is T-Mobile or Sprint. -
I want to delete my Verizon email account but I don't want to lose all of the messages I saved over the years into various mailboxes that I created "On My Mac" in Apple Mail. Will they be erased / deleted when I delete the account?
Yes, it's a POP account. I kinda thought that the old messages would be safe in mailboxes "On My Mac," but since it's an irrevocable choice, I was reluctant to pull the trigger. However, the suggestion above from keg55 relieves my concerns on that score; I'll make a backup copy before I delete the account just to be on the safe side.

and as regards the balance, first make sure you didn't make any in-app purchases. Many "free" apps, particularly games, have additional levels or features that cost money. Check your purchase history in your iTunes Store account and see what you're being charged for.
