Verizon refuses to honor $10 off upgrade from regular phone to smartphone incentive

After upgrading from regular phone to smart phone that was advertised for $10 off last december, customer service dragged feet for over one year with no response only to come back stating that the offer is no longert available (duh) so they cannot honor the discount which was the only reason I upgraded in the first place.  Thus, they made a substantial change to the plan affecting my bill and refuses to refund my overpayment and threatened to cut my lines if I do not pay the full amount.  Anyone have another reqource to get my reimbursement without losing my account and ruining my credit?

Thank you the community for your assistance.

  • Restoring from iCloud - when can I turn off iCloud from old phone?

Hi - I upgraded from 4S to 6 and I'm restoring from iCloud backup - it's taking a while to download all the apps and photos as I expected.  While it's downloading/restoring from iCloud can I turn off iCloud service from the old 4S or do I have to wait until it's complete on the 6?

No.  When you turn it off it removes your existing backup.  You'll have to back up to your computer using iTunes (after turning off iCloud backup it will automatically back up when you sync).

  • How to find out when I am eligible for an upgrade from my phone?

I am not the account primary account owner, my mom is. I live 300 miles from her and she doesn't know how to check it. I know there is a way to find out from my phone when I am eligible for an upgrade to a new phone. I have done it in the past, but can't figure it out anymore. Can someone please help me and tell me what to push to find this out. I know it is # or * and then 3 or 4 numbers.
    THANKS!!!!

#UPG or # 874 to get your upgrade date.   You'll be sent a free text message with the date.

  • Verizon not letting me check my email from my phone... Why could this be?

I am trying to figure out how to fix it. I just got the Pantech Hotshot and when I try to log into my gmail account to search my emails it won't let me log in at all. It says invalid password and so when I go on my computer and type in the same password it let me log in and I got an email saying there is supicious activity because someone tried to log in from an unknown device (that would be me trying to log in from my phone) but this has never happened to me before when I had my old phone. So how do I make it so Verizon can recognize that the email belongs to me thus allowing me to log in? Gmail gave me basic trouble shooting but nothing about how to be able to log into my email using my phone. Not sure on this one but help is greatly appreciated.

  • Can I Upgrade From Regular Cell Phone to Smartphone Several Months Early?

I have a Samsung Sway that I upgraded to last spring - in March. It's been a great phone, but I now have a full-time job where I need e-mail access and would like to upgrade to a Droid smartphone. Beyond that, my Sway has serious screen issues now where it frequently becomes a patchwork of lines and squiggles that I can't see anything through. I have a feeling it's dying.
I'm on a Family Plan and have been for years - my mom started the contracts 7 or 8 years ago - and I'm wondering, could I get an early upgrade to a Droid? It would require me getting a different plan for the phone since it would need data etc. versus my current 1500 minutes, unlimited texts, no data plan. Would it be possible for me to upgrade for free or for a small fee?
How do I go about upgrading even though I'm still about five or six months away from my Every Two Years upgrade? Is this even possible?

Generally, Verizon will not change your upgrade date, even if you change your plan or add high-value features like data.  Verizon allows you to reverse these changes at any time, so they are not an effective bargaining chip.
You should start by calling CS and asking if you are eligible for any early upgrade promotions.  These vary by region, so you may be lucky.
If there are no promotions, you could do an alternate upgrade using the eligibility from one of the other lines on your family plan.  Basically, they upgrade and give the phone to you, then in March, you can upgrade and get them the phone they want.
Otherwise, you will have to purchase the phone at full-price or from a non-Verizon source.
    Good luck!

  • Upgrading from basic phone to smart phone

My 2 year contract is up, and I am trying to figure out if I want to upgrade to a smartphone.  I have went all the way thru the steps to see what cost would be, but it doesn't show me switching from my Nationwide talk/text 450 plan to a share everything plan.  It shows adding 2g data for $30/month.  Is this right?

    You have several options ...
You can just add a 2GB/month data package for $30/month.
You could switch to the new single plan that's currently being offered:
Single Line Cell Phone Plan from Verizon - Verizon Wireless
Or you could switch to a Share Everything plan:
Plans - Share Everything - Verizon Wireless
It depends on how much data you might use and if you want/need unlimited minutes/texts.  Be aware that if you switch from your Nationwide plan, you can't switch back.

What do you mean by "when I brought the messages up back in March"?
Were the messages on your phone? Simply because messages are on your phone does not mean they are still on Verizon's servers. You use internal phone memory to store messages on your phone. The messages do not stay on Verizon's servers until you delete them from your phone.
On the other hand, if you still have your phone and have not reset it since you stopped using it, the texts may still be on your phone. Good luck.

  • Verizon refuses to ship to a different address than our billing address?

My girlfriend and I decided to go on a share plan.  She is on AT&T and I am on Verizon Wireless.  *I* persuaded *her* that we should choose VZW, since I've been on Verizon for almost a decade, and did not want to change.  Ever since then, Verizon's done everything it can to persuade us we made the wrong decision.  After spending hours on the phone and the website -- most recently nearly an hour and a half on the phone -- with nothing to show for it, I'm hoping someone here has a recommendation.
First, Verizon refused to honor a loyalty discount I had been offered before.  Of course, it had expired -- apparently it's a *bad* thing that they've been getting free money from me for over a year while I've been eligible for an upgrade?  The rep I spoke with was very friendly, but said there was absolutely nothing she could do about it; the best she could do was offer me a slightly less-worse downgrade from my current unlimited data plan.  (Note that she only mentioned this after I had been on the phone with her for a long time.)
Second, despite being pretty savvy about this sort of thing, neither of us could find a way to navigate the website such that we could bring her over from AT&T and upgrade my phone at the same time -- even though we *have* to do it at the same time for us to both get the contract price on our on new phones.
FInally, the last straw: after spending over an hour on the phone -- both my girlfriend and I had to be there according to the rep we spoke with, since she was porting her number from AT&T -- the second rep we spoke with walked my girlfriend through the entire credit check, plan, phone order, etc., and got to *shipping*, when he then insisted the phone could *ONLY BE SHIPPED TO THE BILLING ADDRESS.*  We can't get FedEx shipments at home because WE WORK.  Our building has no secure place for packages.  The FedEx "depot" is far away and we don't have a car.  This is common in New York City.  Verizon has always shipped phones to my work address before.  She and I argued with him for as long as we could stand it, but he utterly refused.  After ten minutes or so more of this, he admitted that we could to go to a store; they could order it there and we could pick it up.  He couldn't ship the order we had just spent over an hour on to a store; we had to basically start over.
As my girlfriend said, getting married will be simpler and faster than it has been for us to join our cell phone plans.
Can it possibly be true that Verizon will no longer ship to a work address?!  What have other people done in this situation?  I am so incredibly frustrated, and the idea of now having to find a time when both of us can go to a store (we work in different boroughs, that'll be fun), after having spent hours on the phone and the website, makes me irrationally angry.  I am this close to giving up and joining my girlfriend on AT&T.

Update: my girlfriend went to an official Verizon store because the sales rep on the phone had told her if she did that, the store could order the phone and she could pick it up there.  Turns out the sales rep was wrong.  Even if you order in the store, Verizon will ship it to your billing address.
This is beyond ridiculous.  What "fraud" is Verizon protecting against by not allowing my girlfriend to pick up her phone *in person*, with *photo identification*?  Answer: none.  This is a policy for policy's sake, not for anyone's best interests; a side of Verizon I was familiar with, but which this time has caused so much aggravation (and wasted time) that it's about to be a deal-breaker.
Has *anyone* else in this situation been able to talk to someone with sufficient authority to override this idiotic policy?  I'd rather not switch to AT&T, but my girlfriend is already sick to death of Verizon, and I don't blame her.  More to the point, we seem to have no reasonable way of getting her a Verizon iPhone.

  • Upgrade from iPhoto or Aperture 2 library?

I have Aperture 2 installed alongside iPhoto. The libraries are nearly identical with some recent shots since yearend in iPhoto but not yet transferred to Aperture 2, but they easily could be. I have purchased Aperture 3, and I am wondering am I better off upgrading from iPhoto or Aperture 2? I am running the latest software for OS X and for both applications. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Either would do but Aperture is more capable overall - a pro app vs the consumer iPhoto). Since you bought Aperture it would seem sensible to use that. No advantage I can think of to using both which I think is a recipe for confusion.

  • Verizon refusal to accept outbound emails

Verizon refuses my outbound emails, so far from two public wifi locations away-from-home. One is a Comcast ISP location.  Never refuses them from attwifi locations, however.  Inbound emails are not affected anywhere, and internet usage is not affected.   An automated refusal is all that I get.  How about providing some information, so I hate you less for being an overblown, unresponsive, too-big-to-fail provider?  Like, can I change a setting?

Is there an actual error message associated with the failure?
