VERIZON'S HANDLING OF IPHONE 6?  APPALLING!

A good deal  of us who placed pre-orders on the 12th within the first 15 minutes are screwed. Most of us our now getting phones sometime in October and a good number of people have not even gotten updates yet. 
There are people who ordered later in the hour who now have tracking numbers and confirmation. I've seen them in topics on Reddit, NegoGaf and Mac Rumors.
Verizon mislead customers. They should have put up some kind of warning that 9/19 is only an estimate, as there could be delays. Instead, we were treated to a simple "Delivery Date: 9/19" box that remained intact throughout the entire check out process. Within hours, that date was switched when we saw our email confirmation.  Way to reel us in!  Many of us would have opted to wait longer for Apple's site to come on line. People ordering over an hour after Apple's site became active are getting 9/19 phones.
I hope more Journalists gets wind of this instead of reporting about top ten nonsense lists.

I agree this entire situation is not good.  I was irritated along with everyone else.  My family is only getting 2 of the 4 iPhones we ordered when Verizon said we would get them.  I accept that because when there are 4 million pre-orders in the first 24 hours, you know there is not going to be enough to go around. 
What time you ordered and when you will receive your iphone compared to someone else has to also take into account which model, color and size ordered, not just the time the order was placed. 
I have a friend who ordered at Apple as soon as he could get his iPad app to work.  He originally had a Sept 19 delivery.  Now it has been delayed until early Oct.  He ordered a 6+.  My husband and I are getting our iPhones and my daughter and and son are not until Oct 7 (approximately).  Mine is a gold 128gb 6+. My husband's is a slate grey 64gb 6.  My daughter's is a gold 64gb 6+. My son's is black 64GB 6+.  Different models order essentially within minutes of each other.  All started out with Sept 19 delivery dates.
My biggest complaint with Verizon was the lack of information and updates about what was going on with our orders.  Most of the time I just wanted to make sure my order really was in the system and I was going to eventually get the 4 iPhones I ordered.  The higher ups made a bad decision to essentially let the customer service reps hang out to dry. 
Was it fair to us to not get timely and correct information? Definitely not.  Was it fair for us to take it out on the customer service reps when we didn't get any the information we wanted or the information we thought we should be getting.  Definitely not.  Should Verizon have fixed their system by now to at least reflect accurate information.  Definitely.  Is it worth getting so worked up about that we lose sight of the fact that it is only a phone.  Absolutely not!   The sun will come up on Saturday, even if some of us don't get our iPhones on Friday.

  • Canceling Verizon Service To Get iPhone 3gs

    Hi,
    I have a few questions and any help would be appreciated (sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Didn't quite know where to put it.
    Currently I am on my parent's family plan. I just graduated gradschool and got a job and will be moving out for good, and I want to set up my own cell phone service. I want to cancel my service with verizon and get the iPhone. I am 12 months into a 24 month contract with my current phone, so I know I will half to pay for early termination. Thing is, I need to port my number to AT&T. So how do I do this exactly? Since my mom is the account holder I figure she has to be involved in some way. Will she need to go with me to the Apple store to provide them her account information at Verizon to complete the port? Also, can all this be done at the apple store? Do I have to do some of this online? Or do I have to go to AT&T? (I would prefer to do all this at the apple store, if it can be done there).
    Just wanted to say thanks for any help in advance. Never had to do this before, so I'm just a little nervous. Hopefully it goes smooth.

    I was in the same situation as you. I did not need the account holder for verizon to be there, they never asked for their social or anything. But if it's not a big deal for your mom to be there, I might bring her just incase. You will need the verizon account number and password if there is one. I did it at the apple store, just let them know that you are porting your number and they will take care of it for you. Everything should go fine if you go by yourself but might want to bring account holder along to be safe.

    It's in recovery mode and can't be used until you connect to a computer and restore it through iTunes.

    If you have a My Verizon account online you can do it yourself right from the webpage. Or you can call them, they will just need the imei number from the new phone.

    After the fiasco that happened with pre-orders, I decided to wait and go into my Verizon store first thing yesterday morning to get an iPhone.  Well.... the young man behind the counter laughed at me and said "we didn't get any iPhone inventory and we won't be getting any for at least 2-3 months.  You better just get a Droid". He was really rude about it and I thought a simple "no we don't have any in stock right now, maybe try back in a few weeks" would have been a better way to handle it.  He really made me feel stupid for asking for a phone that was supposed to be in stores on Feb. 10, 2011.  It wasn't like they sold out or anything, they never received any.  How was I supposed to know that a Verizon store wouldn't receive any iPhones on the date they were supposed to start selling them.  I got an email saying go to your local Verizon store.  Shhheeeesh my bad.  Sorry he had to answer my stupid question.  Oh wait.... isn't that his job?
    I am really peeved by this.  I really don't understand why our store did not get any inventory.  Are we not valued as customers because of where we live?  I live in Jackson WY.  This just seems wrong to me, espcially when the news said that some Verizon stores were dissappointed about poor sales and lack of lines.  I know it is just a phone and I might eventaully get one, I say might because my contract is almost up and I am seriously considering going to AT&T after this mess, but I am still upset about the lack of customer service.  I would think a company like Verizon would be a little more prepared for this, espcially after all the hype.  Shame on you Verizon for not being prepared.

    Only the Verizon Corporate stores got inventory on the 10th.  If all you have in your area is Authorized Resellers then no, they did not get any inventory on the 10th.  I'm in the same boat, there is not an official Verizon store within 75 miles of my town.  I didn't get told to buy a droid, but when I went into a brand new Verizon store (I was hoping they were an actual corporate store, but nope) and asked if they would have the iPhone on the 10th the guy did laugh, but nicely and said they wouldn't be getting inventory for a few weeks.
    Use the store locator to check if you have an official Verizon store nearby, if you do there will be two tabs that show up one with "Verizon Wireless Stores" and another that says "All Stores".

  • Unexplained Verizon Data Usage on Iphone 5s

    I have data usage charges showing up on my Iphone 5s every day at 5:40am Eastern time.  The problem is that my phone is not being used at that time of day and is always connected to WiFi while I am home.  The data usage has been very large, from 60mb all the way up to 100mb.  I see that others have posted similar concerns so I'm throwing my voice in here saying that this is not our imagination, it is happening and killing out data usage.
    Here is a screen grab of my data usage.  As you can see, every day at 5:40am, there is a large spike in usage.  My phone is not in use at that time:
    There must be an explanation and resolution for this.

    We always want your charges to be accurate! Smartphones are now able to tell you what applications are using your data. Please go to cellular>use cellualr data for>and this list tells you what data was billed to your cellular data. You could screen shot this list when your done using the phone in the evening. Then compare the screenshot in the morning to see what application data has changed. Data overages can sometime be billed in delay. Your device is set to pick up the strongest signal on the device, so if the Wi-fi server is weak or reboots at 5:40am every morning, then the device will quickly switch to back the Verizon Wireless network until the Wi-fi server comes back up. You could also eliminate these charges by turning off the cellular data every night since the device is connected to Wi-fi.

  • Problem sending email using Verizon email account in iPhone

    I am having the exact problem as in this archived thread:

    I get an error:
    "Cannot Send Mail, the sender address was invalid."
    I am using an original iPhone with the latest software. I believe the problem started with the 2.0 or 2.1 update.
    Even before coming here, I had noticed that the authentication under advanced was set to "MD5 Challange-response" rather than "password".
    No matter how many times I change to "password" it doesn't stick, and of course the mail does not send.
    How can I get the correct setting to stick, or am I doing something else wrong?

    I found the outgoing mail authentication where you said it would be.
    I have the same problem though, I can change it from "MD5 Challange-response" to Password, but the change does not "stick".
    As soon as I leave the "page" and go back to it, the authentication has changed back to "MD5 Challange-response".
    I checked my friends iPhone 3g (I have an original with the latest software) who also has verizon, and his phone is set to password.
    On his smtp server page, authentication shows as "password" without even clicking on "authentication". My smtp page shows nothing next to authentication, I need to click on that to go to the next page to then see it has switched back to "MD5 Challange-response".
    Another oddity is his phone lists server port as 25, mine lists as 587. I tried changing mine to 25, but nothing changed, my authentication would not "stick" at password, and outgoing mail still did not send.
    Any help appreciated as sending e-mail from the phone is very important to me.

    I'm switiching from T-mobile to Verizon for the iPhone. Now the rest of my family would like to switch over as well but only one of them wants the iPhone 4S with me. When I went through a mock purchase with the regular iPhone 4. apple.com told me I had to visit a store to set up my family plan and would not let me pre order anything unless I was starting anew verizon contract by myself without a family plan. Is ther a way around this and if not, what's next? Will the iPhone be available at a Verizon store so my family and I can set up all our phones at once? Or do My brother and I need to go to an apple store to get our iPhones and set up the plan, but from there where and when would the rest of my family get their phones? Can anyone shed any light on this or offer any insight? I'm new to the chaos of trying to get an iPhone, especially when switching carriers. Thanks.

    IMO, your best bet is to go to a VZW store and work it all out there.  They can switch you over and get you the phones you want right there in the store.

    You might have a little "problem" if your payment were by Credit Card, everytime you try to buy something (I mean, try to download something on your iphone, not from your computer) , your going to need to verify your payment... but if u use iTunes Gift Card, you wont have any problem with that

  • Will Verizon Be Unlocking the iPhone 5 for International Use with local carriers abroad like they do with the 4S?

    Here is my situation. I am leaving the country on business in a month. Since it is pretty doubtful that an unlocked iPhone 5 will be available for pre-order tomorrow, I'll be buying one at full price under my verizon account (not due for an upgrade yet). Verizon currently SIM Unlocks the iPhone 4S if you meet certain requirements (account in good standing, active 60 days, phone activated on account, etc.) so you can use your iPhone abroad with a local carrier there for cheaper rates. Does anyone think Verizon will do this same procedure for the new iPhone 5? I understand that my new iPhone may not have 4G LTE capability abroad due to hardware limitations on different carrier models, however all new iPhone 5 models have quad band GSM/EDGE and 3G. Would I be able to use this feature if Verizon unlocked my iPhone? It should be noted I am not trying to unlock to use my phone on Tmobile or another US carrier, as with the 4S carriers put a block on this even for unlocked Verizon models. I am looking at this from the standpoint of a traveling business user (and I think there are a lot out there wondering the same thing). Nonetheless I will be preordering the iPhone 5 from Verizon and on release day I will call them and ask if they will unlock it. If they don't I will return it. I'll update my findings here for anyone else curious about this as well.
