Verizon's HTC 8X and Lumia 822 coming

http://www.wpcentral.com/verizon-htc-8x-and-lumia-822-coming-november-12th
Still nothing about the Lumia 9xx.

We won't hear anything about Lumia 9xx anytime soon.  I think there's an agreement not to steal the thunder away from AT&T with the Lumia 920.
We'll have to see what happens on Black Friday.  You can read more info on that speculation here,Re: Guy with "VZ Corporate Source" at WPcentral says Lumia coming to VZ on Black Friday

  • Nokia Lumia 822 for Verizon - Application Issues

First – I apologize in advance for the length of this post – I just wanted to provide as much detail as I could to help others that might run into problems like I did.
I just got my Nokia Lumia 822 for Verizon and had some issues that I believe were related to the phone being set up for English United Kingdom instead of English USA.
When the associate was done setting up my phone, I started using it and noticed immediately that the virtual keyboard was set for UK English (it displayed a co.uk button instead of a .com button).  I went into Settings > System > Keyboard and Settings > System > language+region and switched from English UK to English USA, and I thought everything would be fine.
Although phone functionality, texting, 4G, WiFi, and voice mail from the Verizon Wireless Phone application all worked, and I was able to download applications from the Windows App Store, I had the following issues:
My Verizon Mobile hangs at “Loading Resources…” screen
Voicemail application – got “SIM Error – Unable to read SIM Data” error message
Settings > System > Nokia account – got “Hardware Problem – Couldn’t Complete Operation” error message
Settings > System > Backup Assistant Plus – would not start and returned directly to Settings > System menu
Settings > System > extras+info – would not start and returned directly to Settings > System menu
I took the phone to my local Verizon Wireless store and they told me that it looked like a hardware problem and that I should return it for an exchange where I purchased the phone.  I also called Verizon Tech Support, and the support assistant tried a couple of things before coming to the same conclusion – that the hardware was probably faulty and I should exchange my phone for a new one.
I decided to ensure that my SIM card was seated properly, so I popped off the back cover, removed the battery, then removed my SD Card and SIM Tray, then reinserted everything and put the back cover back on.  When the phone booted up, I noticed that the App Store had 6 updates for the apps that I was having trouble with.  I went into the App Store and downloaded the updates, and now encountered the following problems:
My Verizon Mobile now launched, but I got an error message that the app could not connect to the network.
Voicemail application – still got “SIM Error”
Settings > System > Nokia account – still got “Hardware Problem”
Settings > System > Backup Assistant Plus – application launched but I got an error message
Settings > System > extras+info – now worked, and displayed version information about my phone and OS version
Finally, I went into Settings > System > about and pressed the reset your phone button.  When it booted, I went through the initial setup screens and selected the default language (English USA).  I noticed that English UK was right above the default selection, and I believe the associate who did the setup in the store selected this instead of clicking on the default.  After selecting that I wanted to restore my data from the cloud, and waiting for about 5 minutes for this to complete, I was glad to see that all of the functionality now worked as expected.
So to make a long story short, before assuming you have a bad piece of hardware, try using Settings > System > about – reset your phone – just in case it was set up incorrectly at the store.

        Hi ARowald,
I understand your concerns regarding the SD card issues you have encountered. A review of my resources indicate that this issue has been escalated to our software team and the manufacturer will address these issues in a future software update (No ETA).

  • First Real Pictures of Verizon Nokia Lumia 822

    http://wmpoweruser.com/verizon-nokia-lumia-822-real-life-pictures-leak/
Well guys looks like its HTC 8x Flame red for me. No way I am getting this mid range water down version phone. This crap looks like one of the free phones Verizon gives you if you sign a 2 year contract

This looks like a low end entry phone, no thanks... I would not buy this one...
If this and the 8X is all Verizon is getting this round, I will be testing AT&T's network where I live and work, if it is just as good as VZW, I will go get the 920.
Verizon needs to step up their game here and not get low end models.

  • Nokia Lumia 822 Lumia Denim Update from Verizon

    Hello All,
I have enrolled in Developer Preview on Nokia Lumia 822. My WPhone got windows 8.10.14219.341
The firmware version is 3051.40000.1352.0042 and it shows Lumia Black in the extras + info.
When I got the Verizon update, i tried to update several times.
It successfully downloads and prepares to install.
When it reboots and try to install the patch, it finishes quickly.
    I get the message:
It's probably a temporary problem. To Try again, go to settings > Phone Update 0x80188308.
What should I do to get Lumia Denim update on my phone? Reset the phone ?
    Please advise.

  • If I bought a Lumia 822 from Amazon. Can I use it with Verizon prepaid  plan? Thanks

I just bought a Motto G but I am a Windows person. So I was looking on Amazon to see if they sell a Windows prepaid phone they don't, but I found an new 822 that I like. It a Verizon phone. Wondering if I bought that and a sim card (says it don't come with one) will Verizon activate it to my prepaid plan. Thank you.
Edit: I really want an Icon but I don't think I can afford that and I don't want to be tie down with an contract.

        GamerSDG,
That's an excellent question to have! The Nokia Lumia 822 is supported by our Prepay Services. Please reach out to our Prepay Department at 1-888-294-6804 for details on how you will be able to activate that phone in place of your current Moto G.

  • Is The Nokia Lumia 920 Coming to Verizon????

I'm not sure where WPCentral got their info from, and they don't cite any info except the last line in this quote, so I'll call it a RUMOR for now, but check this out:
Two sites today—TechRadar and the Verge—both with decent track records on rumors (not-ranked and 84% respectively, via Tracour) are claiming that AT&T and Nokia are looking to open the doors to the Lumia 920 and 820 on November 2nd.
The phone is reportedly in testing at AT&T’s labs and if all goes well, that is the date that AT&T will be looking to put the phone on the shelves.
The date is a bit odd as it falls on a Friday. AT&T as far as we know always release phones on Sundays and they have been quite consistent in that recently for the last few Windows Phone launches. Why the change if true? Perhaps to get the phone out as early as possible but also maybe they are timing it with the end of BUILD 2012, which coincidently ends on the same day.
T-Mobile is expected to launch the Lumia 820 during the same week and later Verizon will launch the flaghship Lumia 920, hopefully in that fireball Red.
    http://www.wpcentral.com/rumor-att-looking-launch-nokia-lumia-820-920-november-2nd
    Here's hoping!

Looks like TechRadar has a little more info:
However, a source talking to Nokia For Us says the phones are coming to AT&T, available in stores Nov. 2.
Joining AT&T sometime during the first week of November is T-Mobile, which will supposedly carry the lower-spec 820, and Verizon, which the source said is set to get a version of the 920.

  • Broken HTC Incredible and Verizon service update

Here is what has went on. Sorry for the length.
    My first post:
Great phone for the 22 hours it worked.
I got my Incredible May 10th, it died May 11th.
Then it stopped charging, the battery goes dead. Red charge light on, green battery icon on top of screen has little lightening bolt thru it. Green indicator moves back and forth like its charging. Tried removing and reinstalling battery.  Sometimes it charges until red light turns green, then its dead within an hour, with the phone completely shut off, not sleeping but OFF. All while still plugged in.
Tried supplied wall charger, Verizon car charger. All the same.
Tried a new battery they sent me. It acts the same.
Took it to the local Verizon store, they said its broken too.
They ordered me a new one on the 17th.
3 hard resets, 3 sessions with tech suport over as many days. Told I will have a new phone June 9th. 30 days after it broke. Just in time for my 30 evaluation period to end. I can have one extra week they said, my how gracious. I dont have the equippment but the time expires just like if I did. They also made me pay another $212 dollars to order the replacement phone. I it get back 2 weeks after they recieve the broken one in return.
Back to my totally reliable Blackberry tour.
I was told by the last tech guy that thats life. Its not Verizons problem its HTC's problem and I am out of luck as far as extending eval time. Or any considerations at all.
Lets see, its Verizons equippment, but not their problem. I got if from them but its not their problem that its junk.
I'm unlucky and thats my fault, they see no liability in my bad luck.
He also said you should never buy a newly released product because they always have problems.
All 3 also said they have not seen or heard of any problems at all with the Incredible.
I must be the only unlucky person in the whole world.
The **bleep** thing worked for a day, one day.
They also said that if there was a refurb available I would get that as a replacement and not a new one so I am lucky there is not a refurb.
Are you kidding me, a phone breaks in one day and they would replace with a refurb????
I work in customer service, I would be fired if I went anywhere near where Verizon is going. "Were sorry for your bad luck" ,"Dont buy newly released equippment", "Its not our problem" , " You only derserve a refurb phone"  that doesnt cut it.
My phone didnt die, Verizons phone died. Period.
I could understand it if it died 4 weeks after I got it. I could see their point after that long. But the next day, get real Verizon???
Frustrated, disappointed, angered, in utter deblief.
The best network, sure. The best customer service, far from it.
    Their reply:
I would like to apologize for the malfunctioning equipment and the poor customer service that you were provide. I will definitely forward this to the correct correspondence to be reviewed. Our Certified Like New phones are tested and guaranteed like new as if you received them straight from the manufacturer. Brand new phones, maybe 10% of the entire inventory are tested for functionality, so it is possible for a bad one to slip out every once in a while. Since you have already purchased a new one and have to wait for it in the mail, I can see what we can do to have your 30 day guarantee extended longer than a week. May I have you mobile number and full name? Please allow me some time to review the account and get with the necessary contacts to see what I can make happen from my end.
Then after 5 days I had to sent a why didnt I hear anything message.
    Then I get this response:
I do apologize and thank you for your patience. I did have my superiors work with your account, however they have advised because you have already accepted the agreement with customer care, we won't be able to go over their agreement.
    My respone to them:
I didn't accept their agreement! Oh my god!!
They didn't give me what I asked for or help solve my issues.
All I was told is what they couldn't do. As well as wouldn't do.
As well as everything I put in my post.
If you're talking about the month to evaluate the new phone.
They didn't give me a choice. What was I supposed to say "naa I don't want an extra week"?
I asked forcefully for my full period, without being irate.
I was told there was no way anyone was going to do that for me.
How in god's name can you say my evaluation period is up when your equipment failed in 22 hours and you could not supply new equipment to evaluate?
How can Verizon take that stance in good faith????
I know now Verizon does not care about one account.
At least mine, on any level.
I will change my stance if you could tell me one thing.
How is any of this my fault?
    Why am I being penalized?
    Am I wrong here people???

i am only posting this to present another side (of the htc di....NOT verizon....lol). they should give people 30 days from when they get the replacement....not the broken one they got initially. anyway, most of the people that come to forums do so to resolve issues, problems, etc. look at all of the threads. they are people with problems, complaints, or questions. they sold 100,000 incredibles in the first few days it was available. and yes, a handful of them have issues. i'd be willing to bet that 7 months ago the forum was filled with brand new bunk moto droids, and that a couple years ago there were at&t forums that were filled with bad iphones recieved. i'm not excusing it. i'm just saying it's brand new and there will be bugs with brand new devices....and some that are just flat out broke. but it seems that 99,000+ of them are just fine. i've been with verizon for ten years and have had no problems. even got some early upgrades. it's a shame that their service appears to have gone downhill, but it's no better with the other carriers. i've just seen a handful of people here that desire to change carriers....and that's fine. but i also suspect they will come across the same bad service once in a while no matter who you go with. this forum is similar to anything else....when you have a bad experience at a restaurant you want to call the manager....nobody calls the manager or visits the forum to tell you how great their service was that day.

  • Lumia 822 lacks good ereader and camera sucks

Lumia 822 lacks decent app to enjoy books and magazines and camera sucks
I bought the Nokia Lumia 822 because it allowed use of a micro SD card which would expand available memory and because it came with Office.  I have been happy with the SD card capability (although today I had to reseat the SD card because the card doesn’t snap into place, it just kind of sits there – I ended up losing all my photos from March 2013, but, hey, at least the majority were there).  Office is functional though I wouldn’t be able to do major spreadsheets in it.  I also had to send back my original phone for a refurbished phone when it crashed about a week after that major update.  I wasn't happy about receiving a refurbished phone, considering what a personal item a cellphone is.
While I knew apps were a limitation being on the bleeding edge of technology, I assumed they would emerge soon enough and was willing to wait.  I bought the phone in November 2012 and as of today (April 2013), there still is no decent app with which to buy books and magazines.  This is a major bummer.
As an amateur photographer, I find the Nokia Lumia 822 Windows Phone camera incredibly disappointing on its own and particularly with respect to the iPhone 5.  This is in stark contrast to Nokia’s assertion that they will set themselves apart with their cameras and comes after a February (or March?) 2013 update that was supposed to fix the camera’s color issues.  It previously had a green tint, which improved with the update but the color is still not great.  Just to note up front, I am not an Apple fanboi by any stretch, preferring the Microsoft Surface as opposed to the iPad3 (both of which I have owned).
The Lumia 822 camera takes forever to focus and shoot once you’ve hit the screen.  If you instead choose to shoot using the camera button, you have to press so hard that the phone inevitably shakes.  The pictures come out blurry with  washed out colors no matter what you do.  Taking the same shot with the iPhone 5, it shoots quickly and comes out crystal clear, with vibrant colors.  I have noticed that the largest photo size on the Lumia 822 is like 2 MB, while it is over 4 MB on the iPhone 5.
Today, when I tried to send some photos from my brother’s iPhone 5 to the Lumia 822, I noticed that Apple provided 3 choices – the original photo size, which was like 4.5 MB, a medium photo size and a small photo size.  Such choices are not available on the Lumia 822.  In any case, I chose the original size of 4.5 MB and when I received the photo on the Lumia 822 chose Save to Phone.  Yet when I forwarded my mom that same photo from my Lumia 822, it sent as 850 KB.  I don’t know how to see the size of the photo that was saved on my phone but I’m guessing it wasn’t 4.5 MB for whatever reason.
I had been psyched about the upcoming Lumia that was a 41 megapixel camera but now I even have doubts about that.
I actually bought Nokia stock, some at $3.56 and some at $4.58, but I’m starting to regret it.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think you should have picked 920 instead of 822, I believe their new release 720 has better camera than 820/822.
I bought 920 for my brother as present, he is a good man and always wanted to upgrade his old phone to smartphone era.. Anyways, 920 felt superb, camera seemed quality wise similar to my Iphone 4s, which was excellent camera for smartphone, but it also added OIS and some nifty photolenses, like that animation edit thing and excellent other features that made my own Iphone pale in comparison.
As what comes to me, I bought Nokia 808 over 920 which I now regret. Quality wise 808 is WAYYY superior even to my Sony Alpha 300 SLR with basic lens. I still cannot believe how sharp and realistic images I get. Add excellent video recording and that lossless zoom, I absolutely love it. But as compared into Iphone as a phone and portable media device Nokia Pureview 808 is so bad! Browsing internet is worse, watching videos is worse, settings are mess up.. Its usable but I would give it an poor grade as a SMARTPHONE, as this tiny camera; Superior.
920 would have given me Excellent camera with all the other great sh*t Nokia offers nowadays.
I am waiting 920 + 808 combo Lumia with 41Mpx lossless zoom and OIS, with water proof and solar energy!

  • Defective HTC One and TERRIBLE Service from Verizon

Monday evening my phone stopped charging and started going into car mode whenever I plugged the phone in. It was getting close to closing time so I headed over to a local Verizon store. I was in Boston and away from my awesome independently owned Verizon store so of course I proceeded to wait for 25 minutes for someone to help me. Eventually someone helped me and he was actually quite helpful. He did a soft reset and the phone seemed okay. He told me that if I had the issue again to just call up and they'd ship me a warranty replacement. Two days later the phone began going into dock mode and the screen was flickering between dock mode and whatever I was trying to do. I headed over to the same Verizon store because I was unable to call the warranty center on my defective device. When I got there, after waiting yet again, I dealt with an extremely rude and exceptionally useless employee. I told him that I was there because I was unable to call Verizon on my phone yet after he couldn't go through the warranty process on his ipad because the HTC One is 'too new' he handed me a phone number(which I already had) and said there was nothing more he could do for me. Frustrated I left to call Verizon. Luckily my phone felt like working now and the employee I dealt with insisted I do a hard reset before they send me a warranty replacement even though everyone else had ensured me it'd be an easy process. Eventually I was able to do the reset later that day and the phone was okay for a day, but then the issues reappeared. Last night I called Verizon and they told me that I won't receive my replacement until MONDAY. My phone is on my family's family plan, but I'm honestly considering leaving Verizon personally after this and hopefully I'll be able to sway them as well. We've been Verizon Wireless customers for 10+ years as well as FIOS and business customers for a long time and Verizon's handling of this situation was beyond poor. To make matters worse, now that I'll be waiting four days over the weekend for a replacement, the One seems to be getting worse - this morning it took a three soft resets, one hard reset, and two more soft resets to get it to charge. Good luck with this phone guys.

        netsirk,
Sorry to hear that your phone has become so unresponsive! Let's see if we can get that working again. Try removing the battery for 30 seconds and then replace battery and back and power on. Should that trouble still persist then the next step would be a factory reset. This will unfortunately erase the Lumia but at least will make it functional again. Here are the instructions if you need them: http://vz.to/1mq6kLO . Best of luck.

  • Verzion Starts Nokia Lumia 822 Pre-Ordering Tonight

At 1am ET Verizon will open the doors for pre-ordering the Nokia Lumia 822.
    http://news.verizonwireless.com/news/2012/10/verizon-wireless-4G-LTE-windows-8-phones.html
I have to bite the bullet and purchase the 822   My HTC Touch Pro 2 isn't going to last and the app portfolio of Nokia out ways HTC in choice of phone.  Plus I can give the 822 to my wife when/if a high end Lumia makes its way to VZW.

I bit the bigger bullet and paid $99 for the Lumia 922 on AT&T and got a free charging plate with the order.  Good enough coverage for the area so goodbye Verizon.  It was a good run of 10 years...

  • Nokia lumia 822 - out of luck I guess

I bought the Nokia Lumia 822 when I renewed my contract. Early on the phone was randomly turning itself off during the day and at night. I do not have a land line at home and this is also my business phone. Random shut downs are not safe at night nor good for getting business calls.
In order to get it to come back on I have to either remove the battery or hold the power and volume button down for 20 seconds.
I stuck it out after reading in Verizon's forums that this was a common issue and might be fixed in a software patch release by Nokia/Microsoft.
After several patches and a recent (this week) reset to factory settings the problem has persisted. Just this week it has happened over 15 times causing missed calls.
    No software updates have helped.
The Verizon / Nokia forums still have numerous posts complaining of this issue but Verizon / Nokia does not seem to be aware of it or want to acknowledge it...
I had to reactivate my old Droid X on my line to keep a reliable phone powered on.
I did have a phone and email conversation with technical support who promised a solution and never got back to me. Now she will not respond to my emails.
I don't think another Nokia product will be purchased again.
    Ryan

this is the OS, not phone.  it is happening to other Nokia windows phones as well.  i've had this phone for approx 2 mths and have been told by verizon tech support that microsoft was supposed to issue the patch to correct this issue by the end of june.  ha!  i've made repeated calls to tech support, now they say patch delayed till end of july.  HA! again!!  sad part is, verizon has known this was an issue and continued to sell the phones.  i tried to return my phone within the 2 week period, but was told that the 2 weeks start on the day you ordered the phone, not received and activated it.  now i'm stuck for 2 years with a piece of crap phone.  no more windows phones for me.  i missed the 2 week mark by 24 hours.

  • 10yr customer switching to AT&T from Verizon for the Nokia 900 Lumia

So I've been with Verizon for almost 10 years.  That's about $20,000 to $30,000 I've given them.  I know that's nothing to a massive company, but I also know that it's not peanuts either.  I have been very happy with Verizon during those years (though I have gotten sick of every single other company always having nicer, better, cooler phones).  But their service has been good, as well as the customer service.  However, I have gotten to a point where I don't like the android phones at all, and don't really like iphones either.  I've been sitting on an old HTC TP2 and now am out of contract.  I was hoping Verizon would get the 900 Lumia, but it has now been announced as AT&T only.  Why does Verizon always have to be the last company to get any sort of innovative phones?
I am about 90% sure I will be switching to AT&T.  I don't like the way Verizon clings to their droids, how their salespeople only push one or two devices, and I don't like how they handled their iphone introduction (instead of innovating, they just jumped on the bandwagon a few years too late).
I know that the people interested in Windows Phones are a small minority, but if we can get this thing to trend it might get someone's attention.  At worst, make them consider bringing in some new phones.  I don't want the dumbed-down 700 series Nokia phone.
Anyone else considering a switch to AT&T?

    They did it once already.

  • Camera on Lumia 822 Developer Preview Update 8.1 GDR1 not working, needs Cyan.

About 5 months ago when the 8.1 Developer Preview was released I went ahead and got it on my Lumia 822. Everything was going great. It worked flawlessly until Updated 8.1 to the 3rd small update that was released for it. Soon after my camera stopped working and soon after that my GPS started displaying very inaccurate results. When I use any app that uses the camera it instantly crashes and I know it is a firmware issue because neither camera works. Both cameras cause the app to crash if it tries to use the camera. I updated to 8.1 GDR1 thinking it would fix it and it didn't. This happened to me 4 months ago. The community says Cyan will fix it. I have had to deal with this for 4 months. 2 months waiting for Microsoft to give it to phone companies and now 2 months waiting for Verizon to push it out. Could someone at Verizon please give an ETA? I wasn't able to take pictures all summer. Not of my summer vacation or anything. I'm begging you Verizon to push the update. At least just for Lumia 822. I'm not the only one with this issue. If you go to the WPCentral forums or just Google it, many more people are having the same issue. I know I was risking it by using a "beta OS" but come on. Updates shouldn't take this long to get pushed.

No one told you to download or install the Microsoft Developer Preview.
That is not a Verizon wireless issue. It is a Microsoft issue.
maybe you can remove it and roll back until the real updated OS is shown to be stable and available.
And this is for both posters.
I can just imagine all the posts complaining how the updates caused this not to function or that no longer works when Verizon has nothing to do with those issues either.
After it is released by the cell carriers.
