Verizon scores big with cell phone carriers!

In a recent evaluation on cellular carriers Verizon came out #1
Verizon is Tops in U.S. Wireless Network Ranking, Sprint is Not | CIO

Kind of what I would expect, which is one a major reason I am still with Verizon. Clear winner in my location with AT&T a close second followed by Sprint and T-Mobile a distant 3rd & 4th.
In many markets, it appears that T-Mobile has made improvements, but still sorely lacking in far too many locations. Sprint continues to bring up the rear in most markets.

  • Changing Cell Phone Carriers...Question?

I have the Family Share Plan, I have the primary line, I am eligible for an upgrade.  My daughter has a phone and is eligible for an upgrade on 7/10/12, my son has the 3rd line and is also currently eligible for an upgrade.  I'm thinking about trying a different cell phone carrier and can't seem to find out if I will be charged for canceling my Verizon service on all 3 lines.  I can't seem to get any answers, does anyone know how this works?

You need to forget the "eligibily for upgrade date" and look at your actual "CONTRACT DATE" which is 24months from when you activated your phones.
If you decide to move another carrier, you can keep your phone number. All you have to do is 1) dont disconnect your service from VZW before you talk to your new carrier that you want to transfer to. 2) you need to make one of your childrens phones the primary account, and make your line an "addon" line or secondary number.  You have to becareful about doing this because you may loose things like unlimited data on that number that is being switched to become the primary line. 3) Have the new carrier do the number transfer. They will automatically notify VZW through the GOVT CLEARINGHOUSE that you are no longer a VZW customer on that one phone number. VZW will then disconnect that line from their billing and will send you a final bill on that line.
Be sure to ask questions from your new carrier about the process.

  • I won an ipad 2 in a contest (64gb 3g) does it have a carrier already installed or can I use my cell phone carrier (sprint)

I won an ipod2 in a contest and have sprint for my cell phone carrier. Can I use sprint as a carrier on this ipad or does it have to be verizon or at&t?

I'm surprised that it doesn't say on the box. Does it say either "CDMA" or "GSM"? You can also check the model number; unless the information I found is incorrect, the GSM/AT&T model is A1396 and the CDMA/Verizon model is A1397. You can also look for a SIM slot. The Version-model iPad 2 doesn't have even an empty slot, if memory serves.
    Regards.

  • Airport Express & Wireless WIFI device from cell phone carrier

I am trying to understand the functions and purpose of this airport things!
Can airport express be used with my wifi mobile broadband device from local cell phone carrier?
The main reason I am thinking about this purchase is to add 2 printers to be able to print to from my MACBOOK.
I am also looking to expand anything else I can with this airport thing?
Forgive the lack of understanding and thank you in advance !

    Welcome to the discussions!
+Can airport express be used with my wifi mobile broadband device from local cell phone carrier?+
The AirPort Express can "join" a wireless network as a client and providing that your printers are compatible, you should be able to print to them. Not all printers are compatible and if you have an all-in-one device, only the print function will work. Fax, scan, copy, maintenance, etc will not work when the device is attached to the AirPort Express USB port.
If you want to connect more than one printer to the AirPort Express, you will need a powered USB hub.
The AirPort Express will not be able to "extend" your wireless network. In other words, it will not do anything to boost your wireless signal.
I would advise you to make sure that you understand the store's return policy in case things do not work out as you hope.

  • What USA Cell Phone Carrier has the N-Series Phone...

Please, I need the help of those who know MUCH more about Carrier availability than either myself, Google or even Bing has been able to come up with.
I have been doing some heavy research into phones and I quite like what I have read and seen of the Nokia phones, most especially the N and E series phones.  They are quite impressive.
I know the E71 is available on AT&T and there are a variety of Nokia bar and flip phones available on a variety of American Cell Phone Carriers BUT... what what I am really interested in is what carrier could I use a good N Series smartphone on?  I have been looking at the E71 on AT&T (which is my current network) and if nothing else, I could be easily persuaded to purchase that phone.  However, it is the N-Series phones that really caught my attention as they have the solid build, camera / video options, web-browsing features and functionality that really speak to me.
I am most interested in what carrier's in the USA would be or are carrying the N97, the N86 & N85 and possibly the N96 phones?

    Hi,
You can use any phone from Nokia with ATT and other carrier that use the GSM network, but you have to look for the phones that made for  the USA networks Nokia have a different version of their phones for USA and global use but you still can use the global one here in USA but with some limited function like the 3G services that different from USA. And if your looking for carrier that provide N or E series here in USA I don’t think there is any other than ATT and it only carry some of them not all, the N96 and N97 I don’t think you can find any of them here with plan price you have to by them from amazon they have cheaper than NokiaUSA.
i hope that will help you...
    thanks

  • I bought a iPhone unlocked in the US, but I couldn´t use it in Mexico with my phone carrier

I bought a iPhone unlocked in the US, but I couldn´t use it in Mexico with my phone carrier. Wath can I do?

Then the iPhone is not unlocked.
Purchasing an iPhone at the full retail sales price or non-contract price with a carrier at a non-Apple retail store in the U.S. does not equate to the iPhone being unlocked.
As already provided, the only place you can purchase a new iPhone as unlocked in the U.S. is at an Apple retail store or via Apple's online store.

  • How do I get a PUK code if my cell phone carrier and iPad carrier are 2 different carriers?

My iPad says it's an AT&T carrier but my cell phone is a verizon carrier. So, how am I supposta get a PUK code for my iPad?

My iPad says it's an AT&T carrier but my cell phone is a verizon carrier.
    Why does that matter?
AT&T iPads are not locked and therefore do not need a PUK.  But since they are GSM based, they cannot be used on Verizon's network which is CDMA.

  • Problems with cell phone bluetooth hackers

Hi there, I have been having problems with someone accessing my machine through the wireless bluetooth system. The logs prove it and there seem to be no way to shut down or dissable the modems. There is more than one it seems. I have reformated my drive and reloaded operaring system. As I was going throught the initial state of the machine like firewall settings printer settings and wifi, the changes that I was making were being changed back. I have checked the remote settings like the remote screen set up and and then a cell phone mac address poped up. Is there code that I can write to the EFI to not load this bluetooth because I have spent countless hours trying to figure this out. In my Sony Viao I had such a go around with this It took me almost six weeks before I gave in and took it in to the shop. Today I was setting up the home network and public came up an then 2 and 3 was below it. NTUSER.DAT is respocible and I can't get rid of that either because one is keeping the other running. Computers aren't supposed to be like this I know . IF someone could help I would appreciate all that I can get. Thanks in advance.

  • Anyone have problems designing sites so they're compatible with cell phones?

I just finished a site with a flash slideshow of images below the nav bar on the homepage, but mostly the site is static html.  The client is complaining that the whole thing is coming up black on his Blackberry.  I don't have internet on my phone so I can't check it.  The site is sdesignsstore.com.
How can I avoid this?  This is a whole new area I haven't even thought of before, do you Dreamweavers take special precautions to make sure your sites are going to show up on cell phone browsers?
    Thanks!

You can also use a "sniffer" to first check to see if they have flash - and if not, replace the flash element with a static image. There are several scripts you can use to accomplish - but there is also another less complicated way to accomplish as outlined on this forum: http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?t=544
Create a page using the static image for anyone who doesn't have flash (e.g. blackberry users) and make this the main page. Somewhere on that page place a 1x1 pixel flash movie which has an "onload" script that opens a secondary duplicate page -  on this page the static image is replaced with your flash slideshow. If the viewer doesn't have flash installed, the re-direct won't be read, and they will view the page with the static image. If they have flash, the page re-direct will happen so quickly that it's unlikely anyone will even notice they were redirected.
Hope that helps - as I mentioned there are also several scripts to be found that will autoreplace the image as well - this is not necessarily the most efficient method, but will get by in a pinch without too many headaches...

  • Senior citizen with no experience with cell phones

I puchased a Nokia 2610 in December for emergencies only. I read the manual many times and it is not clear or I don't understand how to use the function keys. I finally figured how to add contacts(which nearly caused a coronary) and to make and end calls and that's about it.I've noticed when others turn on and off their phones, it makes some kind of music which I think is unique but I don't know what its called. Ringtones: tunes? Please explain to me in plain language how to use these functions. I'm not interested in music, email, text messages, voice mail, games or any fun things: just to able to reach my family in case of an emergency. Please help me

You may have received a response since you first posted, but I am nearly a senior citizen, have owned a cellphone since 1998, use one frequently, have changed phones often, have had a Nokia before, and the 2610 instructions are completely useless. I received my phone several days ago and still haven't used it. I know how to place a call and end a call, but nothing else.
What I intend to do is sit down with the phone, figure out how to use it, document what I do, and post the instructions as a guide to those who don't already know how to use such a phone. And as a model for Nokia on how to present instructions for the novice. Because you are right: Nokia ignores people who do not already know how to use the phone. Nokia: are you listening?

  • Connecting to internet with cell phone

I want to connect my MAC OS X to my Sprint Motoroal RazarPhone as Modem. Listed below is the "instructions" from Sprint: "SprintEnabled: Use the optional USB cable and your Sprint Power Vision Phone to connect to a PC, allowing Internet and email access." Somehow I feel there is a step or two missing can anyone enlighten me? I have full unlimited internet access through my Sprint package and want to connect my MAC to it. Welcoming any suggestions.

    Hello
I haven't tried this, but found this on the net, which requires some additional scripts for the Mac for the Motorola Razr phone.

What is doesn't say is whether it works on Mac OS 10.2 or not.

  • Does Verizon market a basic cell phone any longer?

Needing a basic phone.  Does Verizon offer one?
What is a simple phone?  Here's what it is not:  It does not surf the web.  It does not play music or videos.  It does not take photographs.  It doesn't even need to text.  It doesn't need to be festooned with buttons that activate services the user doesn't need.  It doesn't need to beep when you shift it in your pocket or put on your seatbelt.
What does it need to do?  It needs to be able to accommodate a user wishing only to dial calls and receive calls, take messages and retain a list of contact numbers.  It needs to have buttons placed INSIDE the folded unit so the user while accessing the phone doesn't turn something on or up or down or off.  Beyond that, it just needs to sit there quietly until a call comes in.
Does Verizon offer such a phone?  If not, can anyone suggest a carrier that does.
[Sorry for the rant, but I am pretty burnt out on paying a monthly fee for a simple phone that is clearly not designed from the user innerface point of view.  My current Samsung Grunt has proven to be a huge disappointment largely because it possesses too many features.  I just want to make a ****** phone call.  ]

  • Help with issues with cell phone when on Wifi in iOS7

Since I updated to iOS7 on my iPhone 5 (bought in Jan 2013), I'm frequently experiencing dropped calls.  I have great wifi signal stregth and this is happening in multiple wifi networks so it's not the network itself.  Also, those on the other end complain that my voice breaks up and they can't hear all that I'm saying.
If I switch over to the cellular network, I get much better quality, even if there are few 'bars/dots' of signal strenght in 3G.  When I used the same phone on iOS6 on many of the same wifi networks, I didn't encounter these issues.
Has anyone else experienced similar performance issues?  Anyone have any suggestions/ideas on how to troubleshoot and/or resolve?
    TIA

Thanks.  I learned something new.  I didn't realize the cell calls weren't able to use Wifi unless through an app (e.g. Skype, etc.).  So, I guess what's happening is that if I have Wifi enabled and make a cell call, it (somehow) affects the call quality.  I can be in the same position in the house/building and my audio will break up for the folks on the other end of the call.  If I turn Wifi off, it improves immediately and the problem goes away.
So maybe there's something up with both of thos things going at the same time.  Now that I know, I can likely work around the problem.  Thank you for educating me.
    Cheers.
