Verizon Spotlight Weekly email

Does anyone know what Verizon department is responsible for the Verizon Spotlight weekly email?  I've been trying to play the Mission:Life sweepstakes game but cannot log in because something is fouled up in their username/ password authentication.  I tried customer service chat and they don't even know what I'm talkng about.  I need a contact number so I can resolve this issue.  The actual site for the game has absolutely no infomation on contact information if you experience a problem.
Thank You.

  • It might not be a good idea to use your verizon.net email address as your primary.....

    Team,
There is a problem using verizon email as your primary email.  If your account is suspended, all email addressed to you is rejected by the verizon servers.  This, as a service, is unacceptable.  I suggest not using your verizon email as your primary email source since there is a chance that Verizon suspends your account and no email gets to you.  I guess sometimes free accounts like gmail, hotmail, and others provide more of a service than those taking your money.
    What do you think?
Here is my exchange with a verizon tech support person in a online chat.  I will let you know if the emails are retrieved as the tech support person suggests.  What do you think?

    ben breeland(18:16:18): you are welcome.
Kavita(18:16:28): For account security reasons, I need to confirm few things quickly. May I have the name and address on the account?
ben breeland(18:17:05): I typed that in earlier, but I will do it again. You should access to it if you work for Verizon.

ben breeland(18:26:58): By the way, did you know that when an account is suspended, all new email is rejected by your servers? So since I opened this issue, all email addressed to my address has been rejected. Is this the policy on all email accounts with your company? If so, why is this the policy?
Kavita(18:28:08): Yes I do see that your account is suspended.

ben breeland(18:32:42): thank you. can you address my question regarding all of the lost email during this period? thank you.
ben breeland(18:33:42): suspended does not mean cancelled. Yet during the suspension all email sent to me was rejected by your servers. This is not a good thing.
Kavita(18:35:43): Alright sir, what I would suggest you is tommorrow morning when you will get a call from the advanced technical support, please do ask thenm about the lost emails because as they were working on the issue, they will be able to answer your question in a better way.
Kavita(18:36:08): Great, I can see your screen now.
ben breeland(18:36:24): Kavita, why do you need to see my screen?
ben breeland(18:37:06): Also, if I am not home - tomorrow is Sunday - will they call until they reach me or leave a message if I am not here? Thanks.
Kavita(18:37:36): I am sorry. I typed by mistake.

Kavita(18:42:49): Verizon believes in permanent resolutions, so we will make sure that you will get the lost emails also.

You don't go into the details as to why the account was suspended ... that background might be helpful since you're asking others for their opinion.  In general it sounds like the account was "deleted" at which point all mail is bounced because the address no longer exists -- but Verizon holds the name in reserve for some period of time to prevent someone from re-registering it in case an error was made and for some level of security, I suppose.
Anyhow ... on your commentary about not using an @verizon.net address as your primary address ... I think you will have this with many providers.  Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail all do this if you terminate the account (they do have a suspended account due to inactivity feature which operates differently, but pretty much do the same thing for deletions and such.   I don't use the @verizon.net account as my primary for a different reason however -- my primary address is provider agnostic.   I can move providers (although I'm quite happy with FiOS at the moment) -or- if at some point down the road I have to move out of Verizon territory, my email address will not need to change.  I used this little fact to my advantage when I moved from Comcast to Verizon a few years ago -- no one knew I changed providers because my email address didn't change.   Now .. I don't use one of the free services for email, I own my own domain name (about $10/year from the likes of GoDaddy) and have my domain hosted on the Google Apps tier (but even without that, GoDaddy will do basic forwarding for you of any email address to whatever mail account you're presently using).    Something to think about.

  • Verizon.net Email Speeds Do Not Match FIOS Line Speeds

In the past months since about September 2012, Verizon email servers are not moving data as fast as the line speeds customers are subscribing to.  Such as, Fios 15/5 mbps line speed package, using a browser and going to a speed test website, the results are equal to or better than 15/5.
Except for when Verizon.net customers use the Verizon.net email accounts which come with the internet package. Those speeds have degraded, especially when moving from the old email servers to the new ones (incoming.verizon.net to pop3.verizon.net).  The overall speed with their email, via browser or software (Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Outlook Express, Thunderbird etc.) has dropped to as little as 1.0 mbps when obtaining email, especially those which have some payload such as a 6 MB .pdf, .jpg., .tiff, .zip, .rar and so forth.
What's fowl about this is, Verizon.net support folks have no access to the email network so they are unable to communicate to those running the email servers that customers are unhappy with the service.  Mostly, those who are new to Verizon Fios just continue to use their Gmail or Live accounts which just happen to work satisfactorily, speeds in the area of the above example, 15/5 mbps.
What's really bad about this is, upgrade to the Quantum Fios packages and guess what?  Email speeds don’t move an inch faster.  This means, the email network/servers with Verizon.net are speed regulated outside of the customers line speed connection.  Too bad, customers pay extra for more speed yet, email with Verizon remains at the slow pace. I have much issue with this since in the past, this had never been an issue.  Now that Verizon has Fiber, it is? It would be nice if they published this alongside of the many features that come with a Fios ISP account however, it is nowhere to be seen.
This is obviously bait and switch service and features.

  • As advertised in Verizon spotlight

I received my edition of Verizon spotlight yesterday and was quite excited to see that History on demand  "Hatfields & McCoys" is supposed to be able to be viewed all summer long FREE!!!
Much to my disappointment, I went to the on demand button on my remote and looked for the program under Free and History channel, nothing listed.  Went to search and for the program and it is listed there but for $4.99.   What's the deal???  Free or not free, it's listed under the Fios summer freebies section of Verizon Spotlight.
False advertising?? or am I not doing something I should be?

    Hi,
Sorry but the History Channel has pulled this show off of Video on Demand. We have requested that they put this back on but we do not have control of what they have On Demand.
    Thanks,

  • Want automatic deletion of Verizon Yahoo Internet emails when they're moved to Window Live Mail

In Windows Live Mail, click on Menu, Options, then Email accounts on the Toolbar. Highlight your @verizon.net  account and click Properties. Click the Advanced tab, then un-check the Leave a copy of messages on server checkbox.
This should remove mail from the server as it is downloaded.

  • How to set up Verizon.net email on the Apple iPad/ iPhone & iPod

After two hours on hold I finally got a soul to talk to but just to find out that nobody knew how to set up Verizon email account on the new iPad. It took me a few minutes but I figure it out by myself and I will be glad to share it with anyone by just calling me {edited for privacy} ( Verizon Wireless by the way - lol ).
    {edited for privacy}

Why not search for iPhone setup instructions on these forums?   I have posted exact step by step instructions or configuration summaries at least three times in the past 6 months on this topic.
    Here's one ....
    http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-net-Email/Itouch-is-connected-but-can-t-get-email-to-work-from-...
The above one specifically deals with Verizon mail via the Yahoo portal.   For Verizon regular mail you would modify as follows:
    POP Account Information
       Name: Joe User
       Address:  [email protected]
       Description: Verizon
    Incoming Mail Server
       Host Name:  incoming.verizon.net
       User Name:  [email protected]
       Password: ******
    Outgoing Mail Server
       SMTP outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net    ->
          Primary Server  ->
             Host Name: outgoing.verizon.net
             User Name: [email protected]
             Password: ******
             Use SSL:  Off
             Authentication:  Password
             Server Port:  587
    Advanced
       Deleted Message
          Remove: After One Week
       Incoming Settings
          Use SSL:  Off

  • Is the Verizon/Yahoo email server down?

I've been having problems for the last couple of weeks trying to change my verizon/yahoo email without any success after my account was hacked. Now I can't log into the verizon/yahoo mail system.
I can log into verizon.com without any issues even after chaning my verizon password several time. Now as soon as I go into the verizon web mail system from verizon.com I get this error:
"The server is currently unavailable. Please try again later."
I've been getting this error for the last couple of days. It appears that the connection between verizon and yahoo is broken. Does anyone on from Verizon know what's going on? I contacted verizon via a chat today and someone from India was not aware of the problem and couldn't help me.
Is it possible to setup my [email protected] email acount without going through yahoo. I use outlook at home and on my smart phone I use a verizon/yahoo email app. Please help me....

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.
Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions.
To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".
Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • Does Verizon block outgoing email?

I have three email accounts, one from gmail and two from owned domains.  I use Thunderbird to recieve and send email.  For the past week, I have not been able to send email from one of my email accounts.  This is the error that I receive:
An error occurred while sending mail.  The mail server responded: Unauthorized relay msg rejected. Please check the message recipients and try again.
I have checked my settings, and nothing has changed in the last week.  The only "work around" I have is to use send through one of my other email addresses.
Email comes in fine for all three email addresses.  And I can send fine with two of them, gmail and one of my owned domains.
Please let me know if Verizon has started to block the sending of some emails and what I might be able to do about it.
    Thank you,
    Anne Plouffe

Verizon recently started implementing port 25 blocking as a way to combat spammers on their network. If you are using your non-verizon.net address to send via a pop3 client, this may be the cause of your issue.
There is more information available at http://www.verizon.net/port25
If you have any questions about the information found there just say so, and myself or one of the other forum members will do our best to find an answer for you.
    Hope this helps!

  • How can I get Verizon to stop emailing me?

I am not a verizon customer, but earlier this year I was originally getting emails for bills from three different people, all using variations of my email address with different punctuation.
I was able to cancel most of them, but I can't cancel one of the email addresses because the person put a semi-colon in the address, and apparently the "delete" function on the verizon site doesn't recognize that as valid, so I can't delete it. But I get the email every month.
What makes things worse is, its impossible for me to sign up or get support from Verizon because I don't have the phone number for the account.
    Help?

I know its frustrating to get emails that are not for you thomasroy3. We are definitely here to support you and help get this resolved. All we need is your email address and we can review the account attached to your email and contact the customer to confirm their correct email address so we can get it corrected. • Can I transfer my verizon.net email address to another Verizon account?

I currently have Verizon DSL at my home and an established Verizon email address. I am moving in with someone who has Verizon DSL service. Is there some way to transfer my email account to be a sub account of someone else?

Verizon (per "policy") won't move a primary account to a sub account or vice-versa. If it's a sub account then no worries. If it's a primary... Maybe look into Verizon Your Domain?

  • Email regarding change to Verizon Outgoing & Incoming Email Settings. Is it SPAM???

Received this yesterday. Can anyone from Verizon chime in and state where it's spam or legit?
    Dear Verizon Internet Customer,
At Verizon, we continue our efforts to enhance your online experience as well as ensure ongoing security for our Internet customers.  As a result, Verizon Online has modified the way email is handled when sent or received through an email application other than MyVerizon.
If you only use MyVerizon to access your email account, no action is required and you may disregard this email.  If you do, however, use other applications to access your Verizon email, such as Outlook Express®, you will need to modify your email settings to take advantage of enhanced security we now offer.
In order to make these modifications, please visit http://verizon.com/emailsettings for information about the  email settings you need to update.  Additional information may also be available by going to our online forum at http://forums.verizon.com/.
Thanks for being a valued Verizon Online customer and we encourage you to act now to ensure your email account has the proper settings on a going-forward basis.
    Sincerely,
    Verizon Online

Use the SEARCH, people!!! As has already been stated MANY times in MANY posts: Yes, it's legit.
The changes are not absolutely required yet, but they do add security.

  • My Verizon - Problem with email

After updating to the new My Verizon today I am now having a problem reading my emails at the Zoom level of 100%, which is the setting I have had for years.
The email messages are being cut off.
I notified Tech Support and they suggested lowering the Zoom level to 75% which does show all the email message but the text is much smaller.
Of course when I leave the Verizon web site I go back to the Zoom level of 100% which works fine on my Yahoo and Juno email accounts.
Seems to me there is a problem with the new My Verizon and I hope it can be fixed soon.  I do not like the Zoom level of 75%.

In my case, the problem just disappeared after a few days. No idea what happened.
