Verizon Tour- Can it serve as a modum to an Apple notebook or only to a PC?

I just bought the Tour and I was told by the Verison sales rep that I could use the Tour as a modum (w/a data cable) with my Apple notebook. Doea anybody know if this is the case and, if not, why not and how much longer before us Apple users can gain the full power of the Blackberry Tour? Thanks, everyone!

As a Data Tech for Verizon, I can tell you no...it is not available. The only devices that are compatible with Mac, are data cards or standard handsets.
The only "smartphone" compatible with Mac is the Moto Q.
VZ Access Manager software is not yet compatible with other devices. You can view a listing here.

  • Can I still buy a Ipad2 in the apple store or only online

Within 3 weeks I'm leaving for a holiday to the USA and want to buy there a Ipad2.
Can I still buy one in the Apple Stores or do I need to order a Ipad2 online and then pick it up in the store near where I stay?
Because if You look online at the store they still selling/can order the Ipad2.

    Hi,
It sounds as if you'll be on a great trip! The west coast is beautiful!
First, to answer your important question, I called the Apple store in Seattle. The woman said, "Of course you can use a credit card from the Netherlands (and I'm pretty sure from any country) in any Apple store."
And you do not need a US address. That's only for buying and/or repairing via US mail. Because of each country's sanctions, Apple cannot ship internationally. That's why for on-line buys, you must use a US credit card and prove it's going to a US address.
Also, before traveling, you might look into your credit card company's policy on exchange rate. For example, if you buy an ipad on a given day at a given rate, your credit card might not charge you the rate at which you bought it. They might charge you the rate that it is on the day you are billed (billing date - that once a month date.) You might want to read up on it if you're not aware and get correct info directly from your card company. Or check out new ones, if necessary. I'm sure you know the euro to US dollar rate is in your favor. But be careful where you exchange money - no airports or hotels.
And it seems as if you've settled on an ipad 2 16 gb, your original plan. Great. When you said different sizes did you mean different space like 32 gb and 64 gb? If so, it's great that you'll have a choice.
The woman I spoke with said there was only one Apple store in Seattle and it is not in the center of the city (it's near the Univ. of Washington,)  but you'll have a car, though, so it shouldn't be a problem. She did suggest, though that you might want to wait until you get to Portland because the tax in Seattle WA is 9.5% but there is no sales tax in Portland OR. That means with tax, in Seattle you'll pay $436.91 but in Portland you'll pay only $399.00 and save $37.91. That might or might not matter to you.
This is a little off topic, but if you are into photography and are using a camera (actually also any smart phone though you'll never get the quality a point and shoot or a dslr will give you) then you might want to consider buying a camera connection kit at the Apple store for $29.00. Whatever you take pictures with you can then put on your ipad. You'll see them better and can email them home/facebook if you like. If you do that, please read up before you go on how the camera connection kit works, and how you have to name pictures to go onto the ipad camera roll, etc. As a matter of fact, if you're near an Apple store at home, you might want to go in and ask for help. Of course, in Seattle, they can help you set up your ipad and explain anything you need to know.
Great that you have your Apple ID. You'll also need your password...
Have a wonderful trip! The scenery is beautiful and you're traveling to some beautiful and fun places. It sounds as if you are well traveled internationally and know much of the info I added, but just in case...
If you have any questions about Apple in the US, you can let me know and I'll be happy to speak directly with an Apple store rep in Seattle and then get back to you.
    Hope this helps.

How can I get someone to answer the phone? I'm ready to give VERIZON my business. I sat on the phone for over 20 minutes only to be transferred to "Sales." I then sat on the phone for another 15 minutes!!!! I finally hung up.

It takes an enormous amount of patience and time to get through to a qualified person.
My Samsung S5 was locked out and needed a factory reset. Including attempts to achieve this locally, it took over an hour before my problem was even addressed.
You may be interested in my journey to a very good technical support person.
First I called the local sales person who had given me his personal business card with the friendly advice to call me with any questions. No answer at about 8:30 am when the business was open. His voice mailbox was full.
Then I called the local store where I had purchased the phone. The person who answered the phone had learned all the proper stock phrases, but was not familiar with the issue, stated that there were no customers in the store, and I should go there in about an hour when there would be more staff. He suggested dialing *411 from my phone (which was locked). Then he gave me a number to call Verizon, which he had to look up, and it took a minute or so. The number was (removed). That is an internal number for employees and contractors and requires a code to access, obviously not designed for customers' use. He finally cut me off by stating that there were a number of customers in line waiting for his attention!
After researching all my papers I found 800-922-0204 on my bill. The automated message suggested a hold time of 5 minutes, it took 20 minutes for a Customer Service Representative to pick up, and then I was referred to technical assistance. The hold time was announced to take 5 minutes, after 12 minutes I finally was connected.
Fortunately I had my computer set up for Skype on a loudspeaker, and was able to do some other paperwork while waiting.
Persistence was rewarded by having the good fortune to be connected to a very experienced, qualified and patient technical support staff with the name of Thomas (removed). He solved my problem, answered my questions during the process of resetting the phone, and gave an example of courteous and kind customer service that I had never experienced before when dealing with any major internet company.

  • Can Windows Server Backup spread a single backup job across multiple disks if they are not set up as a virtual disk?

This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find any definitive information after having done many, many searches.  Short question is - can Windows Server Backup spread a single backup job across multiple disks if they are not in a storage
pool or some other RAID/JBOD structure?
    Background:
I'm running Server 2012 Essentials with all Windows Updates installed.  I have been backing up approx 2.8TB of data (Bare Metal Recovery, C:, S: (shared folders), and system reserved) for the past year+ onto a storage pool made up of two-2TB external
USB drives.  Backup is slow (takes approx 1.5 days to complete), but generally works.  Not surprisingly I was constantly getting capacity low messages so I decided to increase my backup storage pool by adding a 3TB drive and another spare 750GB drive
for a total of 7.75TB.  Instead of having four separate external USB enclosures, I bot a 4-bay enclosure - Startech.com model #S3540BU33E to simplify this (or so I thought!).
The first problem I had was adding the two new drives to the existing storage pool. I think that is because the Startech uses a JMicron USB controller that reports identical uniqueid's for all drives so only one shows up in the GUI interface for creating storage
pools. After doing research on this, I set up a new storage pool and virtual disk using all four drives via Powershell and thought I was good. However, when the backup ran, it failed after filling the first drive, saying there was no remaining capacity. In
reality there were three remaining empty drives and there storage pool reported almost 5TB of avail capacity. I assumed this was due to the identical uniqueid issue so I decided to try a different tactic.
Instead of using a storage pool that combines all four disks into one virtual disk, I just added each of them to Windows Server Backup as individual drives thinking it would manage them collectively. I.e., when a drive filled up during a particular backup,
it would just start using the next drive and so on. Apparently this was a foolish assumption because the backup failed again as soon as the first disk filled up.
So now I don't know if this is still an issue with the identical uniqueid's or if Server Backup actually can't spread a single backup across multiple individual drives that aren't in a pool or other virtual disk implementation. Hence, my original question.
My guess is that it does *not* spread them across individual disks, but I just wanted to get confirmation.
    Thanks

    Mandy,
Thank you for following up on my question.
Unfortunately the article you referenced doesn't address what I am trying to accomplish.
The article focuses on saving the same backup job to multiple disks and rotating the disks between on and offsite for enhanced protection.  However, it still requires that an individual backup job fits on a single disk.
What I am trying to determine is if a single backup job can span across more than one physical disk (during the backup process) without those physical disks being in some type of virtual disk implementation (e.g., storage pool, RAID, etc.).
    Thanks,
    Gerry

  • Verizon system can't handle porting phone number from Straight Talk customers?

According to this discussion: Verizon system can't handle porting phone number from Straight Talk customers?  If still true, then VW misses a huge business opportunity. Adjusting the sizing the account number to be wider is not a hard system adjustment task and have almost zero system ripple-effect impact (I am in IT works).
    http://www.prepaidreviews.com/straighttalk.html
"Straight Talk makes it impossible to port an existing cell phone number from their operation to a competitor such as Verizon. To port my cell phone number I was told by Verizon to provide my ST account number. It was not listed on any account documents. After 45 minutes on hold, ST customer service told me it was the cell phone serial number. But that number was too long to insert into Verizon's system. After another hour long wait, ST directly told a Verizon rep that was the only account number. As a result, I had to abandon the cell phone number that I have had for nearly 10 years and get a new one. I will not be doing any business with ST in the future."

Ah ha!  Okay, so I just need to be more patient in other words.    I'm just glad nothing is wrong.
I did use the "erase all data and settings" option on the iPhone 6 menu because I wanted to go through the setup myself.  I hope that didn't mess anything up.
    Thank you!!

  • When will Verizon Cell Tower installed in 2013 on Ridge Road in Town of Broome, Schoharie CountyNY be turned on? Where in the Verizon Co. can I find out about this

A cell tower was installed in 2013 on Ridge Road in Town of Broome, Schoharie CountyNY. It appears to be ready to operate. When will it be turned on? Where in the Verizon Co. can I find out about this. I now depend on an unreliable and expensive dish-satellite system for internet access and would like to be able to take advantage of my Verizon WiFi cell to connect. Who and how do I contact Verizon to find out? Many thanks.

Are you sure it isn't turned on? Are you sure it is even a Verizon tower? If it is a Verizon tower, it may not be turned on yet because it has not received approval from your local government. If it is awaiting approval, Verizon has no control about when approval will be granted.

  • Can ipad be reprogrammed to use verizon 3g, can ipad be reprogrammed to use verizon 3g

I purchased my iPad from Apple about a year ago with 3G (AT&T).  I live in an area that does not have AT&T cell service but does have Verizon.  Can I get my iPad software updated so I can use Verizon 3g?

AT&T and Verizon use different technology and the iPads are built differently - the AT&T version is GSM based and uses micro-sim cards, the Verizon model is CDMA based and doesn't use micro-sim cards. One option is to sell the iPad and buy a Verizon model; another option is to get a mifi device (assuming that you can get Verizon mifi devices) and use that as a mobile hotspot for the iPad.

Yes. See the information here, particularly the "Important Notes":

Since you haven't yet taken delivery of the iPhones I'm not sure how Apple will handle it.

  • How many can access server at a same time

Just installed trail version of Essbase 9 on my localnetwork ,
how many can access server (connect) data using excel at a same time.

I believe Oracle has issued unlimited license files for most products.
They have also retired the Licensing Server product.
I think you can have unlimited Excel Users connected to your version.
I am wondering "How long is the trial version good for?"

    Hi,
I looked on this site http://portforward.com/routers.htm
It lists many routing devices both modems and routers.
I did not see the Surfboard you listed but that does not mean it does not route (It just means it is not in the list)
Your computer is getting the IP 192.168.1.3 which means a device somewhere between you and the internet is routing.
Most likely in System Preferences > Network for the connection method you are using you can see a "Router IP" (192.168.1.1 is most likely based on the IP you get)
Type this into to your Web Browser like you would Apple.com
You should get a Pop Up.
Hopefully it will tell what device you are now trying to Log in to.
This info may help in looking in the Port Forward list.
If not check all the Motorola devices listed and then iChat in the Next page.
The third page from the Link page I gave you will detail the default access info (IP and User ID and Password) for each device you visit.
You may find that there is a common User ID and password across the various devices and this may work for you.
At Random this one says admin and motorola as the User ID and Password. (others may say different)
Don't worry about the fact it says to set a Static IP at this stage Or the Port Forwarding info further down each page.
You will hopefully be now looking at the web pages stored on the modem.
They work like any other web pages with menu items and links to other pages.
Search all the menu items and link to see if the device has UPnP
It tends to be in different places on different routing devices but try Advanced or Admin as well as anything to to do with opening ports.
A Status page like the first pic on the second link page I listed may well tell you if it has UPnP enable or not (but this is not always the case)
Tell us what you find out or if you have some other routing device in between you and the Motorola Surfboard.
