Verizon Update to iphone 5
I got a notice lastnight that there was a carrier update, and did it..... this was going to fix the 3g - over to 4g lte - it did not. My understanding was this should fix turning off and on LTE service,,,, Don't work, also I have and issue on wifi or 3-4 g service when typing a text it is super slow when typing one letter at a time and pause .... I have been an apple fan - apple tech for over 5 years, Seems like microcrap is running the company now *** !

I recently updated my iphone 4s for verizon. Its the newest update..anyways it ran through the processs of updating and then told me to plug it into my computer. I did and the only option i got was to restore my iphone. I did and on my iphone the bar loaded to about 75% and stopped. My computer came up with an error. It said it was unavailable to restore this is iphone and unknown error occured. I tried using a different cord different usb slot checked my computer software updated my itunes but the same effect happened. I am getting very worried that my iphone is going to go in the trash soon. Can anyone help with annoying problem.

Updated ipad yesterday to 7.0.6 and now can't connect to internet. Tried cellular, Verizon and Comcast. Updated 2 iphone 5S and ipad mini today and all work fine. Any suggestions?

If "No," first try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this. -
Updated 3 iPhones 5. 2 updated ok. Per Verizon 1 was disconnected by Apple. Any reason why.
UPdated three iPhoned to IOS 8.3. Two phones updated ok Per Verizon, one phone was diconnected by Apple. Tech at Verizon stated happens randomly.
Apple can't disconnect phones from your carrier.

Why is iOS 8.2 not updating on iPhone 5S? It got the user to Agree to the Terms and Conditions but nothing happens. The user is doing the update via a Wifi connection. Current OS version on the device is 8.1.3. User did a hard reboot of the device and still the same result. Not tried using iTunes as a workaround as we want to know why it's not updating via a Wifi connection. Storage space available is 9G.
If you know of someone who is experiencing the same issue, please let me know the fix. Thank you.
Christina1. I do not know if this will help you or not. In researching this issue with my wife's iPhone 5c 8GB, the most common answer you will get is to adjust this or that setting, and disable this or that App. These at best are only a band-aide solution at all. The best reply I got was from a Verizon Rep that stated "By design, iPhones do turn off WiFi when they go dormant. So if a download is in progress, or information is being back-up wirelessly and the phone goes dormant, it will switch to use cellular data if it is left on". Afterwards, I discovered the exact same information here on the Apple Support Forum to support this statement.
2. Later onward, I read that if you keep your iPhone connected to a power source, it will prevent it from going dormant. In which case, this will prevent the iPhone from turning off the WiFi, and keep it connected to the WiFi. So far, this has help the most in controlling the amount of data usage being used, by my wife's iPhone.

I watched it charge up in 20% increments at first. Switching plugged and unplugged status while plugged in.
Took it in to Verizon and they told me the phone looked fine and the battery tested fine. Noted they were seeing a lot of people coming in with similar issues. Associates claimed it was something in the software.
A few weeks later my phone has managed to drop its charge while plugged in and is now a paperweight.
I don't advise it. If you look close enough there are several people reporting the same or similar issues since updating. Simple Yes and No responses are just presumptuous. -

I imagine you are talking about iPhone 4 CDMA (Verizon, Sprint). iTunes will only allow Update or Restore to iOS 6.0.1 You need to update iTunes on your computer to current version 10.7, with computer click the iTunes Tab at the top of this page and install current iTunes 10.7 If this iTunes will not install you may need to update your computer System, or try a different computer.

Since installing the 7.0.3 and now the 7.04 updates my IPhone 4S won't easily delete voice messages. I have to try over and over. There is no rhyme or reason as to why it sometimes works. The guy at Verizon said Apple did it on purpose to force you to upgrade to the Apple IPhone 5 series. I've heard the iPhone 5 has problems also.
I've always liked my Apple products: MacBook Pro, IPad 2, but now I'm worried about buying an IPhone. I hate to give up on the syncing capability but this is a pain.

Verizon would not have unlocked the GSM capabilties of an iPhone if the phone wasn't already active on their network and the customer in good standing with them. So assuming that the iPhone was indeed officially unlocked by Verizon, it should work with any carrier who provides compatible GSM cell technology and appropriate service plans.
And in response to the original question, if the iPhone is officially unlocked, updating iOS should not be a problem, though pvonk's advice is worth considering.

Verizon Update 2/3/2013 requires re-boot
Just updated iPhone 5 with Verizon update.
It bricked one iPhone, but a reboot solved the problem. The second iPhone updated without incident.

I can see why that issue would be frustrating. I would like to help with this issue. What is happening when you try to send email? Also, you said you can't locate your AOL account. Have you looked in Settings>Accounts? It should list any email accounts you have setup there. If it is not there, try clearing your cache from your email. Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Email>Clear data/cache. Then try to setup your email again.

Can't update VZ iPhone 4 to iOS5
This is for my wife iphone on her own Windows 7 x32 system.
Verizon iPhone 4 running 4.2.8
Sync her phone, updated to iTunes 5, sync again, updated apps, sync again. I then choose to download the iOS 5 update only first.
I then tried to update the iPhone to iOS 5 about 5 times and each time it would get stuck on "iPhone backing up". Left it alone for about an hour and the progress bar was about 1%.
I once reset the phone and tried again nothing. Also moved the device to a different USB port and nothing.
So can't get the iPhone to update, any ideas?I have the same problem, i´ve tried several times to update, was you iphone jailbreaken aswell?
