Verizon US Jelly Bean 4.1 release date?

So when is the 4.1 Jelly Bean coming to Verizon in the US? And the "coming soon" reply is very tiresome. Sprint in the US got there. And supposedly I read that T-Mobile is next.....come on really?!

You're never going to get a firm release date because the minute they do that, heaven forbid something comes up that would delay the release, all the people asking for a release date would be screaming to high heaven about Verizon "promised" to release it on such and such a date and now went back on thier promise.
They take less heat by not giving out a firm release date.  They'll release it when they release it... not a second before.  All I can say is we will get it. I don't know exactly when but we will get it.
Like my mom used to say to me when I was little and I wanted something and wanted it now, "Patience little one". Then when I got older she'd say, "Good things come to those who wait".
So, I remain, Patiently waiting for the release of my next smartphone in the Summer of 2014.

  • When are we getting Jelly Bean for GS3?

Now that Jelly Bean is officially released for GS3, when will VZW release it to its customers? I hope they don't take as long as it took for GB to be released on Fascinate. I would hate to get it from XDA before VZW

Well the international GS3 in UK, ASIA are getting the Jelly Bean update tomorrow as we speak. As far as the US goes, hopefully soon enough...

  • Everyone seems to be talking about the Jelly Bean update, however when I check for an update, it says my phone is up to date.  Why is this?

It seems like every other RAZR Maxx has an update but mine.  What the heck? lol

Same with mine - got in May. Says it is Factory Certified - factory tested
but never used. Claimed not a full charge yet it was 95% charged...what can
you  do - other models were lesser in quality and features..interesting
that you had  option to take update - I did not. My email accounts were not
receiving. Didn't  try nav doc...Hope this one will be better.

  • Verizon Jelly Bean update causing multiple texts?

Yesterday I updated to the lastest Jelly Bean from Verizon (OTA, finally got it after hours of clearing data, etc.) but now, for some reason I keep receiving multiple text from people. They would send it, but then i'd get it 2 or 3 times. Just wondering if its possible when I downloaded the update something when wrong and they system didn't realize it.

        Hi there Drake90001,
Getting the most recent software update is super exciting and I definitely want your phone to run smoothly. I will be delighted to provide some suggestions.
As with any software update in our world of technology, anything can happen. I would have to say yes it is possible.  It may also be due to third party applications not being updated to function with the new software yet.
Are you using the native messaging application or something else?
Are you noticing it with anyone who messages you or is it only select numbers?
Have you noticed it happening only when you're in certain locations?
    Keep us updated!
    Thanks,

  • Why hasn't Verizon just announced a release date!!

The galaxy note 2 has already been on preorder for a while and it doesn't ship till the 27th of november, the windows phones are supposed to come out BEFORE thanksgiving and no release date has even been given at all? Are they trying to give people a chance to just order more samsung galaxy notes?

I preorder the Note 2 for three reasons more ram and faster processor and the Walcom pen. so i would be one of those type of people and it you look around all carriers are charging that price. unless you wait a year until the better process hit the market and they go down in price and if you tying to say the windows phone is going to be better please go ahead an order one. and I will be watch for your post stating that it is locking up just 3 to 6 months after you purchase it. How do i know this I work in IT for a company and a employee had a windows phone. and I have had to hard reset the phone several time in order to get it to stop from locking up. So please buy one and keep us update how bad it is...lol

  • S3 Jelly Bean

Where is the freaking Jelly Bean update? Been waiting for months, and basically everyone else on every other carrier has it. I though VZW was supposed to be the best? Apparently not at updates. At least give us a date.
I'm starting to regret renewing my contract. Been dealing with slow updates since I had my original Droid, and it's getting pretty annoying now.

I am aware of the difference and I am also aware that some say that its easier to program updates for GSM over CDMA.
However, this still does not excuse Verizon Wireless from the responsibility of responsible and timely updating.
Sprint made the update and T-Mobile made the update.  What we don't wee is stories littering the internet about a botched update with bug issues.  If we did, then we could stand behind Big Red's methodical and slow path to update.
Whether you paid the upgrade cost or full price (I paid full price), these phones cost good money.  Couple that with the ongoing costs of network usage (i.e. your phone bill), then that tells me that Verizon owes us.
    They owe us timely updates.
Come on Big Red... do the job I pay you for.

  • Jelly Bean 4.2?

I'm thrilled that my phone now has Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and I'm like a little kid in the candy store playing with the new features.  But what about Jelly Bean 4.2?  Will Samsung and Verizon step up and upgrade our device to Jelly Bean 4.2 sometime soon?

So Google Released Jelly Bean 4.3 today and my Samsung  Galaxy S3 still dont have 4.2. But my Nexus tablet was updated today. So switching to Nexus as soon as my contract is up. Verizon/Samsung has the worst support.
So impatient.  Samsung has to write the code into the OS for the S3.  Then they send to Verizon to test and verify it doesn't have issues with the phone or the network.  This can all takes weeks or months.

  • Jelly Bean Battery Drain Caused by Offline Music in Google Play Music

I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 and upgraded to Jelly Bean (JRO03L.I535VRBLK3) on 12/14. I immediately experienced terrible battery life with media server being the second highest after the screen in battery consumption. I read a factory reset solved the problem for some, but it didn’t for me, and eventually, I think I found the source of the problem. Google Play Music and Media Server.
I was able to fix the problem by clearing all data (includes any offline music) and then uninstalling all updates to Google Play Music (v4.4.811H is the update I got rid of, I am now on v4.4.615.481147 which came with the JB update).
While on v4.4.811H, music would pause itself, no sound from headphone although visually everything is still playing, and would just stop responding all together. Once those things happened the phone must think it is still processing sound since the volume key continues to control the media volume and not the ring tone volume. The only way to get it back to normal would be a restart of the phone.
I'm not sure if this is a Jelly Bean issue or Google Play Music issue, either way, Verizon should look into it.

I have the same exact issue.  I thought my battery life was a little worse after upgrading to Jelly Bean.  Also, there have been multiple instances where Google Music has stopped playing my music after about 2-3 songs and when I try to skip to the next song, play, stop anything inside Google Music, it will not play any more songs.  I have to go to the Task Manager and kill Google Music.  Once I restart it, it seems to be fine for a while.  It seems to play songs that I have on my local device (downloaded from Google Music) just fine, but only time will tell.  This needs to be looked into right away; this is not acceptable.

  • Now even the Canadians get Jelly Bean before VZW customers

I thought everyone else EXCEPT FOR VERIZON had already updated to JB

    Well done Verizon. Well done.

I recently emailed vzw about my dissatisfation with the lack of info pertaining to updates, and that any info is good just to tell people they are working on it. I was shocked when I received an informative replay and said it was unofficial of course to cover themselves.
The email stated they are having problems with the JB Gnex update and it pertains to the radios. They have to create new radios for the update for it to be released and that it will be a few weeks before the update will be released.
I posted the email over at androidcentral forums with screenshots of the email in the Galaxy nexus forum as proof. The email was censored poorly though from the sender and when it went into details about the radios and problems someone deleted a paragraph and left a half written sentence. so I guess outgoing emails from verizon are censored too like these forums here.

  • Jelly Bean on Droid Maxx

I have the Droid Maxx. I believe that the Jelly Bean update was pushed out on Nov 9th. I have not received it till today. Under System Updates also, it says that I have the latest software and no updates are needed. Any ideas?

JB has not been released for the Razr or Razr Maxx yet; it's been released for the Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD.  Your phone hopefully will receive JB toward the end of the month or early next year; a release date has not been announced yet.

Some apps are not compatible on Acer A210 Iconia Tab jelly bean. What are the most recommended apps or widgets for Acer A210? How do I uninstall Firefox 17 and install Firefox 16 on my pc or what is the best version to use with the tablet? Thanks if you have a solution. Using Windows 7 home premium.

The best version to use is Firefox 17 (it's the stable release). as for best apps, it's all up to you on what you want to use.

  • Jelly Bean - Email AutoSync No Longer Works

I am at Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) on my stock Samsung Galaxy S3.  Since the Jelly Bean upgrade, my e-mail will MANUALLY sync e-mails, but will no longer AUTOMATICALLY sync e-mails per the Peak/Off-Peak schedule for any of my e-mail accounts except for my Exchange account.  I have tried:
Adjusting the Peak/Off-Peak schedules to several different times / schedules.
Changing the period to synch from 1 Month or 100 e-mails to 1 month.
Accessing the Email app via the Applications interface and clearing all data.Step above obviously necessitated re-entering all e-mail accounts.
I have confirmed that Settings>Email(under Accounts Header) shows a green synch icon beside all four of my non Exchange accounts.
I've been messing with this for a number of days now and I'm hitting a wall.  This is not a menu-based configuration issue as far as I can tell AND it worked fine under ICS.
In case someone wants the information to diagnose, the non-exchange Accounts:
2 x @bellsouth.net (associated with my AT&T service, but hosted by yahoo.com service).
    1 x @yahoo.com
    1 x @gmail.com
My settings for synchronization (for all four accounts):
    All days selected.
    Peak schedule: Every Hour
    Off-peak Schedule: Never
    Peak start @ 7:00 AM
    Peak end @ 10:00 PM
    While Roaming: Use Above Settings.
Any suggestions?  (Other than the usual default "Have you tried a factory reset" that would require me to spend a day trying to get everything set back up and is basically a support tree "I can't figure it out easily so let's make your life harder because I can't be bothered" type of solution.)

Mine started @ JB, but in trying to research the problem on my own - I can confirm your observation that people are reporting sync issues across multiple platforms / e-mail providers.  What is weird about it is that on irregular occasions, one of my accounts will actually "sync."  As an example since I wrote the original post - I did get  notification of new emails in one of my accounts - I have purposely not been manually checking my accounts to see what is happening.  Interestingly, When I look at Settings>Email, it shows all of my accounts having been sync'd at 10:00 AM.  So what does that mean?  Sync is partially working, but not consistently (e-mails from across 4 hours came in when it is set to sync hourly) and even within the phone the sync status isn't being displayed correctly.  Something is clearly fubar'd I just don't know what.  (thanks for the advice though)

  • Google Voice Won't Work With Bluetooth Headset After Jelly Bean

I am SO frustrated. I had no idea I was installing the Jelly Bean update when I updated the software on my phone. Note to Verizon Communications team: PLEASE do a better job of communicating significant software updates. I would not have installed Jelly Bean. I learned long ago to stick with factory OS on my phones.
Since the update, I noticed that I could no longer dictate texts and emails. Also, my call recording app no longer worked. I switched to Swype and it would work for a few minutes and then stop.  I could still use my bluetooth headset to make calls and S voice worked (although, like others here, I noticed that it's now worse--it doesn't recognize any contact names I request anymore). After trolling Android forums I found that the problem is with the bluetooth headset. You can still dictate when the phone's bluetooth is on, but when a device is connected, all bets are off.
I almost did a factory reset, but then I read that a hard reset will not restore ICS, nor did it resolve this bluetooth Google Voice issue for the few people who tried it already. In fact, resetting caused more problems (eg., more battery drain and removal of Adobe Flash, etc.).
Does anyone know how I can go back to ICS? Bluetooth and Google Voice are the two features I value most in my phones. This is a NIGHTMARE.

    rcschnoor -
The Bluetooth/Voice Search/Dictation issue is a valid issue for the OP, a valid issue for me and oh yeah, the hundreds of other people affected by the, "Google Voice Search stuck on "Initializing" bug filed here on the Google Android Project page.  Here is yet another reference to the same issue from Android Central.
The "Google Music freezing after Jelly Bean Update on Galaxy S3" is also a valid and documented bug located here also on the Google Android Project page.
So I ask, how does sharing with these people that do have these issues, and are affected by them, that you are not experiencing these issues help in any way?  Isn't that the whole purpose of a community forum to help others?
