Verizon Web Site NOT Secure?

The Verizon web site security seems wanting. See this test connection report for www.verizon.com: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=verizon.com&s=23.56.10.120 Could someone from Verizon explain what is going on here?? Thanks.

I appreciate your reply.
1) I still think SSL 2.0 should be disabled on a servers, meaning no connection allowed with its cryptographically broken key negotiation. I realize up-to-date OSs and browsers 'prefer' a better secure connection; however, Verizon (Akamai) servers still allow its use whie best security practices say to disable it.
If Verizon has concerns about refusing a connection to an SSL-2.0-only browser, I recommend using an intercept page to enlighten the customer to their vulnerability, and perhaps suggesting to them/pointing them to a fix-it page. Letting Verizon servers use an insecure protocol seems irresponsible.
2) Regardless of the foregoing, Verizon owes it to customers to eliminate the BEAST vulnerability, which is being actively exploited on the Internet as we speak.

I have four computers, all with Windows7 Ultimate (64 bit) operating systems installed.  The Verizon web site to optimize the FIOS connection for Internet Explorer 8 is not there and I can not optimize my FIOS settings on any of the computers.  Can someone help with this issue?

Optimizer doesn't work with Win7     unless they fixed it in the last month

  • Need a topic for Verizon Web Site + Issues with Web site (please forward)

Suggestion 1:  Add a topic/forum section for Verizon Web site:  If I've missed it, please let me know, but I searched the forums and could not find results for "web site," except irrelevant references.  Since I could not find one, here is. . .
Suggestion 2:  Fix these Web site problems  (can someone in Verizon forward these to your Web team?  All attempts failed)
On Contact us page, Customer Service link leads to a 404, not found error
Fix faulty 'next page' link in Droid Reviews:  When going from page 2 to page 3 of reviews using the 'next' link at the bottom, the reviews change from Droid Reviews to HTC Imagio reviews.  Droid still shows at the top, but the content consistently shows that people are reviewing Imagios.
User names like IluvImagio and imagiouser
    Features of Imagio are referenced
Bar at top shows 2000+ reviews and image of Droid; info for review section of page shows 300+ reviews
    http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/productReview?action=showAllReviews&phoneId=5069&item=phoneFirst&...
Suggestion 3:  Fix faulty link for forum registration:  When trying to register for the forum, I clicked on 'Register.' I got an error that my password and username were incorrect.  I thought I'd misclicked, but I could reproduce this.
    Cheers.

    Hello Artemis51,
My apologies for the late reply on this one.  Great feedback!  I'll definitely add this to the list of registration issues that we're working on.
Thank you so much for taking the time post these issues in such detail.

  • Verizon web site error

With the new Verizon web site, when I try to view TV listings, I get an error:
We are unable to process your request.
    Please try again later.
So I'm unable to view the TV listings on-line. Could it be that there is not enough server capacity on the Verizon end?

Anthony, I tried to private message you several times, but I kept getting an error message stating that my message had invalid HTML that was being removed, and to resend.  It did not actually have any HTML, and hitting the resend button just led to the same message.
Also, since my last post, I downloaded the OBS software onto my computer.  This gave me access to OBS from that computer.  However, even after doing this, I cannot use the old method of directly getting to the OBS web site from My Verizon.  The link from "Launch" does not work either on the computer with the OBS software or on any other computer.  Rather, the link goes only to the Verizon page saying that my OBS service has not been activated (which it surely has been) and asking to download the OBS software.
If this is happening to everyone and not just to me, this means that material stored on OBS is only available from a computer that has the OBS software downloaded on it.  That is certainly not supposed to be the case, and it would make OBS much less useful.
Again, the OBS technical people said that this was a problem that they knew about, but it was entirely a problem with the Verizon web site that they could not do anything about.

  • Familybase usage reporting on Verizon web site has stopped working

I've been a Verizon customer since 1993, and as I work in the technology field consider myself adept at using electronic devices and services.
I set up and have been using family locator and familybase for about a month. I set up time and data usage windows, trusted and blocked telephone numbers, and everything worked well. The family base web site showed me usage by time period, top apps and time used.  Everything was working fine till last Sunday afternoon when the Verizon web site started giving me a message that the service was unavailable.
I tried logging in from a Mac with safari, a pc with IE and with chrome, my iPhone and from an android tablet with the same result- the service is unavailable, try back later. I satisfied myself it was not the device or browser I was using to access the web page as the error was platform independent.
i next restarted the child device after confirming the companion app was installed and "self identifying" that it was installed and running. No change. I then reinstalled the companion app from the Google play store, and it again appeared to be installed correctly. The services associated with familybase appeared to be running on the android device. Still, no service available on the vzw web site.
I'm at my wits end.  I've done everyone I've found in these forums to troubleshoot this, and the service continues to be unavailable. I know we're only talking 4.99 a month but it's starting to be annoying that something has stopped for no apparent reason and now won't work.

aNHguy, I want to make sure that you are able to use FamilyBase. I appreciate all the steps you have taken to troubleshoot this. When you are on your My Verizon account, do features still show FamilyBase under your current features? You mentioned that you have been using the service for a month so I want to ensure that after the one month free trial expired that the feature remained on your account.

  • Gallery web site not found

I published a 35 photo web gallery I thought successfully, but when I go to the url listed at the top of the photo event folder, I get a web site not found error. The photos did upload to the iDisk in the "sites" folder, but it would apppear no web page was created.. there is a web gallery icon to the right of the photo album name that was uploaded.. I have upgraded my iPhoto with the latest ver via software update.. any thoughts??

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try making some minor change to the gallery and republish. See if that will jump start the online gallery. If that doesn't work, mount the iDisk, go to the Web/Sites folder and delete the contents of the _gallery folder (assuming you only have one gallery). Then republish again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do I view incoming call telephone numbers from Verizon web site?

I am trying to view incoming call numbers from the Verizon web site on my account.  I can do this on my past staements but need to see the incoming call numbers between the last statement and current (today)?  Can anyone help me?

If you are the Account Owner and logged in as such ... once you're logged into your on-line My Verizon account, scroll down a bit to My Usage, then click the blue View Usage Details.  Under Minutes, click the blue Breakdown of Recent Activity.  Next to Current Call Log for Line, use the drop-down to choose the line you want to view, then highlight that line and you should see the call log.

Hello michaeljt, the sites you have problem, is it with a lot of flash content ?
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Please reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using '''one''' of the following steps:
*Hold down the ''Shift'' key and click the ''Reload'' button with the left mouse key.
    OR
*Press ''Ctrl'' + ''F5'' or ''Ctrl'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Windows and Linux)
    *Press ''Command'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Mac)
See if this helps solve the issues you had and please report back to us!

  • Verizon web pages not displaying correctly

I am having a problem displaying most of the Verizon web pages, including the forum pages. The pages look like the header icons are sustituted with text links throughout the pages, sometimes overlaying other areas. Check the attachment for two samples. this makes them very difficult to navigate. I have not noticed this on any pages other than Verizon's, but I suppose there may be some somewhere. Find it hard to believe my browser only has the problem here. It only is an issue on my desktop pc. My laptop is ok. The only changes I made just before this happened was to uninstall a runaway Verizon In-Home Agent that was in an endless loop trying to get an update. Any ideas?
    Thanks

Try adding verizon.com to your Trusted Sites zone in Internet Explorer.
To do so, double-click the "Internet Zone" thing down there ▼ to bring up the Security panel, select the Trusted Sites zone and click the Sites button. Then enter "verizon.com" and click Add. You will have to uncheck the "Require server verification" box.
    That should fix the problem.

  • Why is my web site not pulling up in fire fox???????????????????

My weebly, what i used to design my web site / domain's, www.idckotao.com are not popping up in fire fox.. In fact the help stuff is useless as I do not have a fire fox button it now goes into this stupid fekking full screen mode after the last dumb ass update.
I am wondering of this is just my computer my web site is not showing up on or every one's who uses fire fox.

You can switch Firefox's full screen mode off using:
    * F11 function key
    * slide mouse pointer to the top of the window > right-click > Exit Full-Screen Mode
If the full screen is generated by a plugin such as Flash, press the Esc key to return to normal.
If all else fails, press Ctrl+n to open a new window, which should be a normal window.
Now, about your site. I can see it on Windows 7, and the top buttons work and some of the home page buttons work.
Hopefully the steps suggested by cor-el will help you. You also may need to delete your cookies for the site (either for your domain or for the editor domain, if it's different). Save any pending work first.
While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

  • Setting a custom 404 page for a mysite verizon web site

I have a personal web site at mysite.verizon.net/naesdraw/index.htm.
I have been trying for awhile now to get a custom 404 page set up on it, naesdraw/404.htm
I looked for information on this but nothing I've tried has worked, .htaccess, nothing. The .htaccess(before I removed it from the root) said :
    ErrorDocument 404 http://mysite.verizon.net/naesdraw/404.htm
From things I've read, I'm begining to think that it is an issue on the server side of the operation - not me.
Any suggestions on how to solve this? I'm entering the site to be judged soon, and I'd like to have it ready, since this is the last year I can enter it.

    it is server side.
if only it were as easy as placing a 404.htm in the root dir lol.
... and by the way, i like turtles

  • Personal web site not showing up.

    Problem:
neither web sites appear when using 192.168.2.149 ip addresses.
blah, blah . . . so, after setting the Personal Web Sharing tab, the bottom tells me that I can access the computer web site via http://192.168.149 and my personal web page via http://192.168.2.149/~calbruin.
When opening the links, nothing shows up but the error saying that server is not found.
When I type 127.0.0.1, that gives the generic computer web page (found in Library/Webserver/Documents) alerting me that Apache is installed.
Question is, why does not the 192.168... address work and why not the personal Sites Folder accessible via 192.168....?

The only change was turning off and then turning on the Personal Web Sharing.
    Most likely needs this...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Trash this file...
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist
    reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    Set up Sharing again.

  • Gasbuddy web site not working properly with firefox, but working fine with explorer

I've noticed when I load the web site gasbuddy.com, it is not working properly. It does load, just not performing like it should. When I try using gasbuddy.com on explorer 9, it works fine. I've already tried working in safe mode and that didn't solve the problem with gasbudy.com. Any suggestions as to how to fix the problem? I did do some prior investigating, and I'm very cautious about removing my cookies. It seems when I do that procedure, I lose too much info on certain web sites----weather.com, weatherunderground, etc. Just not sure how to remove cookies to solve a problem with out causing other problems? Thank you.

I'm glad we were able to figure it out. Many sites are designed with stretchy columns that work with either full zoom or text-only zoom, but definitely not all of them.
