Verizon Wireless Fivespot Global Ready 3G Mobile Hotspot  used with the new Kindlefire

Hi,  The new Kindlefire by Amazon has been announced today.  This device is wireless.  I know I have had visiting family members connect their wireless "ITouch" up via my "5 Spot" but before I purchase the Kindle Fire need to be sure that it will work as well.  In the specifications it says regarding wifin connectivity, the following:
"Supports public and private Wi-Fi networks or hotspots that use the 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, or 802.1X standard with support for WEP, WPA and WPA2 security using password authentication; does not support connecting to ad-hoc (or peer-to-peer) Wi-Fi networks. "
I think I would be okay, but just would like some kind of verification that the Fivespot falls within the above description ... HELP!!!
Thanks!

Great news it sure does. You should have no problems using your Fivespot with the Kindlefire. Here's a link to the user manual to verify the specifications. This is a great link as well for support for the Fivespot I use it all the time. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Thank you

Can a wireless mouse be uses with the new iPad?

While it is true that mice or other pointing device like track pads are not supported on the iPad since there is no real pointer, I use a stylus pen. I know it would probably tip over the iPad if you are standing it up, but it's the closest I've seen. I use the Wacom Bamboo stylus and a Zagg keyboard and the case for the iPad and keyboard. I use the stylus a lot on the Paper app to take notes in meetings and such. Not really a solution but if you are trying to move an insertion point in a document, it does work.

  • HT1695 I am trying to print wirelessly and get no air printer found. I have a new hp 3523 wireless printer but can't make it work with the new iPad. Do I need a special driver or is there another way for it to work

How do I set up so I can print wirelessly to my hp wireless printer.

    Hi,
The printer do support AirPrint (the HP Deskjet 3525 is part of the 3520 Series).
Make sure your printer connected to the same router as your iPad and it shold be listed..
Be aware that you need iOS 4.2 or higher and your router should support Multicasting for AirPrint to work..
If the printer isn't listed please clarify your router brand and model, some routers don't offer Multicasting or have the protocol disabled by default.

  • Mifi2200 vs. VW Five Spot Global Ready 3G Mobile Hot Spot

Is my existing mifi2200 just as good as the new Verizon Wireless Five Spot Global Ready 3G Mobile Hot Spot? The mifi2200 is 5 spot also and I don't see any difference, so how can this be an upgrade? Isn't the mifi2200 a 3G also?

Is my existing mifi2200 just as good as the new Verizon Wireless Five Spot Global Ready 3G Mobile Hot Spot?
    - Yes
I don't see any difference, so how can this be an upgrade?
    - Its not an upgrade, just a newer and currently supported model.  The 2200 is end of life and no longer produced.
    Isn't the mifi2200 a 3G also?
    - Yes
    My suggestion:
If you are happy with your MiFi 2200 then stick with it.  However, should you encounter any problems then Verizon is not likely going to help you out unless you move up to the current model.  You can always buy another MiFi 2200 from ebay if thats the case.

  • Mobile hotspots---what are the advantages?  better reception?

What are the advantages of getting a mobile hotspot---such as the Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MiFi 4620L---over simply using the hotspot feature of a tablet (such as the Samsung Galaxy 7.7" or a Motorola Xyboard 8.2") or smartphone (such as the Samsung Stratosphere)?
More specifically, is the reception better?  For example, in an area of marginal data signal strength, would the mobile hotspot be more likely (as a sort of specialized device) to get a usable signal than would a mobile-hotspot-enabled tablet or smartphone?

Mobile Hotspot devices like the MiFi products are likely to be more configurable than the hotspot features you are provided with by your smart phone/tablet.
Probabally the biggest difference is that a MiFi can support more devices than your smart device.  Another example would be purchasing a larger battery for a MiFi.  Running a hotspot feature on your phone will drain your phone battery quicker.  Haveing a MiFi may extend your battery life and connection sessions simply because the connected devices and mifi do not rely on each other for power.  As AZ mentioned, performance will boil down to the hardware/radios that have been installed.  More powerful equiptment will always perform better.
In reality they both do the same thing, provide you and others a connection to the internet that you can bring where ever you go.

  • Cannot connect to mobile hotspot using wpa; only open security works

I have a Galaxy S5 and am trying to connect to the mobile hotspot using my Surface tablet.  If I have the mobile hotspot setup using WPA2 security with a password I cannot connect however I can connect if I am using Open security.
I can connect the surface to other routers using WPA security, just not the Samsung as a mobile hotspot.
    does anyone have any suggestions?

What you have proved here is that your tablet has a password conflict somewhere.  You should find out where your wireless profiles are being stored on that device, wipe them out and then try connecting again.  Once you provide the tablet with all of the correct connection credentials and configurations it should connect just fine.
Connecting without a password proves there is not a WiFi issue.  Connecting to other devices is additional proof that there is not a WiFi issue going on.  You just need to straighten out the security issue and then will be good to go.

  • Mobile Hotspot option missing on new software for Win 8.1

On my Thinkpad X230, there used to be an option Mobile Hotspot in Lenovo Settings on Windows 8. After the update to 8.1 and the following Lenovo updates, this feature is gone, or hiding elsewhere. Where is it?

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Windows 8.1 comes with a built in mobile hotspot feature.
The Mobile Hotspot feature has been removed from Lenovo Settings because it conflicted with the Windows 8.1 built-in feature. Once these conflicts are resolved, the new Lenovo settings redesigned with mobile hotspot feature will be available. But we cannot assure when it is expected to release.
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Iam from Yemen we have CDMA carrier called Yemen mobile I bought an iPad from the US CDMA works with Verizon when I got to Yemen doesn't work with the carrier Yemen mobile and  both carriers verizon and Yemen mobile work by the CDMA system don't know whey

Iam from Yemen we have CDMA carrier called Yemen mobile I bought an iPad from the US CDMA works with Verizon when I got to Yemen doesn't work with the carrier Yemen mobile and  both carriers verizon and Yemen mobile work by the CDMA system don't know whey can anyone help me please..

A Verizon-model iPad can only work on CDMA with Verizon. You cannot use it with any other carrier. Apple, to my knowledge, has not released the iPad in Yemen, so there is no iPad you can use with any carrier there that works only on CDMA. You would need to find a GSM carrier and then get an unlocked GSM iPad.
    Regards.

  • HT3574 on the new iPAD 4G Verizon has anyone been able to make the Hotspot work with the USB Cable to a Windows 7 PC ?

On the new Ipad 4G (Verizon) - I am unable to Hotspot it with the USB Cable. I can do it with Wi-Fi and Blue Tooth just fine - but not directly connected from the iPad3 to a Windows 7 PC. It detects, it even opens up the Folder os that I can see the DCIM but no internet on the PC (but works fine using Wi-Fi or Blue Tooth hotspot). Any ideas ?

Attach the cable to your iPad and then to the USB, than go to settings chose the third option "personal hot spot" turn it on, a notification will pop up asking you if you want to use wifi or Bluetooth just select no and automatically work.

  • New iPad won't connect to Mobile Hotspot using WPA or WPA2

I have a new iPad running iOS 6.01.  It connects to wifi networks perfectly.  I also own a Blackberry 9790 that is capable of running a wifi hotspot.  When I try to connect my iPad to the mobile hotspot when WPA or WPA2 Encryption is used the iPad cannot connect.  If I change the Encrypstion to WEP I am able to connect the iPad and wifi works on it.
Is there a reason the new iPad won't connect to a mobile hotspot that's using WPA/WPA2?  Is there a way to resolve this issue?
I am able to connect my MacBook Pro to the mobile hotspot using WPA/WPA2 so I know that it's not my phone or the hotspot not working properly.
    Thanks

It appears as though I fixed my own problem...I hadn't yet tried restarting my blackberry or my iPad since I had been trying to setup the mobile hotspot and connect the iPad.  Anyways, I restarted both devices and then tried connecting using WPA/WPA2 and it worked.
iPad is now connecting to my mobile hotspot using WPA/WPA2 with no problems.
Maybe try doing the same if you haven't.

  • I want to set up the Time Machine and I would love to use the Time  Capsule but since I already have a wireless router I need suggestions on  what other external disks Apple could recommend to use with the Time Machine and  how to configure that disk

I want to set up the Time Machine and I would love to use the Time
Capsule but since I already have a wireless router I need suggestions on
    what other
external disks Apple could recommend to use with the Time Machine and
    how to configure that disk.
A complication that I need to resolve is the fact that I am using Vmware
Fusion to be able to use Windows on my Mac. Now it seems that Time
Machine is not backing up my files
on that virtual Windows without additional configuration and my question
is whether you can advise me here or whether this is only a matter for
    the Fusion virtual machine.

If you want to use Time Capsule you can.. you simply bridge it and plug it into the existing router.. wireless can be either turned off or used to reinforce the existing wireless.. eg use 5ghz in the TC which is much faster than your 2.4ghz.
You can also use a NAS.. many brands available but the top brands are synology, qnap and netgear readynas  series. These will all do Time Machine backups although how well always depends on Apple sticking to a standard. There are cheaper ones.. I bought a single disk zyxel which was rebadged and sold through my local supermarket. It actually works very well for TM at least on Snow Leopard. Major changes were made in Lion and again ML so do not instantly think it will work on later versions. I haven't tried it yet with those versions.
Any external drive can be plugged into the mac. Use the one with the fastest connection or cheapest price according to your budget. USB2 drives are cheap and plentiful. But no where near as fast as USB3 or FW800. So just pick whichever suits the ports on your Mac. Interesting Apple finally moved to USB3 on their latest computers.
TM should exclude the VM partition file.. it is useless backing it up from Mac OS side.. and will slow TM as it needs to backup that partition everyday for no purpose.. TM cannot see the files inside it to backup just the changes.
You need to backup windows from windows. Use MSbackup to external drive.. if you have pro or ultimate versions you can backup to network drive. But MSbackup is a dog.. at least until the latest version it cannot restore the partition without first loading windows. There are about a zillion backup software versions for windows.. look up reviews and buy one which works for you. I use a free one Macrium Reflect which does full disk backups and is easy to restore.. to do incremental backups though you have to pay for it.

  • Will my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless work with the new Mac OS Lion

Will my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless work with the new Mac OS Lion

My experience with upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion is that the OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless will print just fine, although it seems to take a little longer to find the printer on the network. My scan function however locks up and will not work. This really is an annoyance, though, since I have VueScan, which works fine with Lion.
Hopefully, Apple and HP will not orphan the OS native scanning feature for HP multifunction printers.

This reads backwards, It is the other way as "Norton update is compatible with Firefox 9".

Can I transfer my hand made album sequence (sort order) defined in elemenst when I turn a local album into a mobile album used with IPAD. Or do I have to change the dates artificially?

Andrew, I know I am extremely late to the party but I too use Grid View.  I had the same problem that you had but have found this to work for me.  I used it and it is still holding as my default sorting even after switching between the Artist page and Grid View.
Once you are inside of the Artist page continue to click on the Album column until it shows Album by Artist/Year.
That will give you each album sorted by the year instead of it randomly sorting it for you each time you leave an Artist's page and then back again.
    Hope this helps.
