Verizon Wireless Router

I currently have verizon DSL using there Westell router.  However I am looking to upgrade to a wireless router.  Does Verizon offer a
free upgrade or if that is not possible can anyone tell me a good wireless router to get???  I have tried calling verizon direct but
actually talking to someone is almost impossible.

If you have the Westell 6100 and you add another router, do not forget to follow..

Trying to connect Verizon wireless router to Airport Extreme and error says Ethernet Unplugged.

So, AirPort Utility running on the Windows Vista desktop can "see" the AirPort Extreme and displays its icon, but gives that error message at some point in the setup process? How far does it get?
Other questions that may help me (or somebody else) understand your problem better:
Which of the pieces were verified as working before the introduction of the AirPort Extreme?
Did you have the desktop computer attached to the Verizon GT704WGB with one of the Ethernet cables you are now trying to use? Which one? Have you tried the other one to be sure it also works?
Are you using the same port on the GT704WGB? Have you tried another one?
If the desktop has multiple ethernet ports, are you using the same one?
Had you done any special configuration of the ethernet port on the Verizon GT704WGB to get it to work with your desktop?
What category ethernet cable are you using? 3? 5? 5e? 6?

  • Using time capsule model A1409 and trying to use it as only backup. Already have Verizon wireless router. Do not know which cable port to use in back of time capsule. And also it is asking for password. Have tried all of mine and it will not work.

Want to us my time capsule model A1409  as only backup. 2 TB hard drive.
Already have Verizon wireless router. Do not want to use Time capsule as router, only back up for iMac.
Do not know which cable port to use in back of time capsule to Ethernet port back of my iMac.
And also it is asking for password for the server John Garland's Time Capsule so Time machine can access it..
Have tried all of passwords can think of and none work.
Held the reset button for one second on back of capsule and do not see if anything happened.
    What a conundrum.
Appreciate any help to get this working.
    Thanks,
    John R

I have a 2TB Timecapsule and really only use it for Time Machine backups. But the Wi-Fi side is used to sync my iPad at times.
    Mine is wiredup thus;
Eth cable from iMac to modem (not the WAN port should you have one),  then eth cable from modem to T/Cap in the WAN port (bottom port with an O sign above it)
I believe when its connected up you may have to set up a wireless network. Follow the instructions to set up Wi-Fi and Network
and then give it a password. The WiFi icon should appear in the menu bar where you can switch it on or off.
Its been sometime since I set it with the help of Apple Techs so I might be a bit rusty.

  • Conecting AEBS and AExpress to a Verizon wireless router to extend network

I have Verizon Fios and with that I have the wireless router that Verizon provides. The signal is great as long as I am in my office. However, in other rooms in the house the performance is decreased significantly. Before having this router I was set up with an AEBS and the performance was great.
My question is, "how can I extend my network by linking the AEBS and/or the Express with the Verizon router?" I have to have their router so I would be using the AEBS or Express to boost the signal through my 2 story brick home.
    Please help if you can...thanks

I'm not familiar with the Verizon FiOS-supplied routers, but you should be able to connect an AirPort Extreme Base Station to the FiOS router via Ethernet cable and create your own wireless network with all Apple devices set up in bridge mode.
Turn off the wireless network on the FiOS router, if possible. The idea is that all wireless clients will receive IP addresses from the FiOS router but will connect to it wirelessly via the Apple devices.

  • Setting up a Time Capsule with Verizon Wireless Router

I am trying to set up my TC with a Verizon Wiresless Router.  I wish to use the TC's wiresless signal and shut off the Verizon signal (can do).  I plugged the TC via ethernet, into port 2 on the verizon router and in the WAN connection on the TC.  I am getting a blinking amber light. No idea where to go, I cannot access the TC via my iMac and the ethernet port on the iMac doesn't work (broken since new!)  Help much appreciated.  I will want to use the TC to back up the iMac and two macbooks. THANK YOU!

Ok, I found the TC on the iMac after restarting the airport utility!

    Hi there terri900!
You may want to try configuring your router settings to match the recommended settings for iOS and OS X devices, which can be found here:

  • Silly question, maybe. I want to change from Verizon DSL to cable, but cable company doesn't supply router.  can I use my Airport Extreme as wireless router?

We currently have the following wireless home-network configuration, powered by Verizon DSL.
    2 macbook pro’s
    1 emachine
    HP PhotoSmart 6122 all-in-one printer
    Apple TV
Apple Airport Extreme Base Port A 1408
    Westell 7500 router
Thinking I’d get wider wireless coverage throughout my 2 bedroom home, I purchased the Airport Extreme. It is connected to the router via its sole usb port.  The result was only a tiny increase in speed, and no increase in coverage, so I don’t know why I have it.
We now want to change from DSL to cable, thus ditching Verizon.  Our new cable provider supplies the cable box, but no router for wireless networking.
    Here are my questions.
Can I use the Airport Extreme (AE) as a wireless router?
If so, how should I hook it up?  Should the usb cable go from the AE to the cable box, and all the other devices connect wirelessly?
If not, how should I be using the AE to some advantage?  What can I get out of the investment?
Thank you very much for your help!  Beatriz

What I wrote has nothing to do with what the cable company charges for their installation. And, usually they will help with the router setup even if you supply your own router. I don't know what they will charge for the modem.
Note that you need to get just a modem. You don't want a modem/router combination. That will make using an AEBS effectively nearly impossible. You will need to ask specifically for just a standalone modem, and that you will supply your own router.

  • Can I disable my Verizon Fios Router Wireless radio, connect it to a switch and use my airport express as my wireless access point connected to an in wall ethernet port?

Here's the deal.  I have a Verizon Fios MI424WR router.  My house has CAT5 throughout the house.  The media panel is located in the garage.  I want to take the Verizon Fios Router and cannot it in the media panel so I can connect a switch to it, that way, all my CAT5 can fire throughout the house. Verizon being Verizon decided to connect the router directly in the office.
Can I go this route (Router in media panel, switch cross connect to it) and use Airport Express, connected to one of the in-wall CAT5 ports in my house and then set it up as my wireless access point to provide wifi to my portable devices (iPad, iPhone, Macbook)?  Is this possible? Will Airport Express comminicate with my verizon router via ethernet in-wall? Do I have to turn off the wireless radio in the Verizon router?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That is right, by hard wired I was just making clear wired vs wireless attachment.  AirPort family of devices will only act in a repeater mode with their own family members, not FiOS routers.  they have to be wired to work.
There are some useful docs you can download from Apple, Support, Manuals, Peripherals, AirPort (just follow thos links from the Support button on the top bar):

The last has a diagram of what you are trying to do, though without the house wiring, etc., but the basic principle.

  • Trouble connecting wirelessly via Verizon FiOS router

    I am using a Titanium G4 Powerbook, OS 10.4.11.
I have an Airport Extreme connected to a Verizon FiOS router. These are set to broadcast on different channels.
Our iMac is connected to the FiOS via Ethernet: no problem getting online.
Other Mac notebooks can connect wirelessly using either the Airport or the FiOS.
This notebook can connect via Airport; however when logged into the FiOS wirelessly, and getting a strong signal, I cannot connect. Diagnostics tells me "ISP failed"; Airport tells me I have a self-assigned IP address.
It seems I have some setting wrong somewhere?

    Why 2 routers?
-- only the AE can broadcast Airtunes
-- but the AE only has one hard-wired ethernet port (I need one for my imac and one for my ethernet printer)
-- and the FiOS router's wireless signal is stronger, I can get it in more parts of the house.
Thus the imac can be on via FiOS while the laptops are on via either FiOS or AE.
As long as both routers aren't distributing IP addresses on the same schema, should it matter?
I'll admit it would be easier to use only the FiOS router, but then no Airtunes. And I can't log onto the FiOS wirelessly, as I explained in my original post.

  • Can an AirPort Extreme connect to a wireless router; i.e.: Verizon Jetpack?

I just dumped Comcast in favor of Verizon's Jetpack.  Can I configure my Airport to use the Verizon router, or can I connect it (at least) to my two comouters to maintain the Time Machine backups?

Check with Verizon to see if they have a Jetpack with an Ethernet port option....or an adapter that would convert the wireless from the Verizon Jetpack to an Ethernet signal, so the AirPort can connect.
An AirPort Express might be able to "join" the Verizon wireless network and provide an Ethernet signal from the AirPort Extreme.
I say "might" because I do not know if this will work. Better to use an adapter from Verizon to insure compatibility.

  • How can I get my Cisco wireless router to wirelessly connect to my Verizon Fios Actiontec router?

I have Verizon Fios for internet, tv and phone. The Verizon Actiontec router is connected with a ethernet cable into my desktop and the internet is up and running. Now I bought a Cisco Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router, and I wanted to connect it to another desktop two floors up. I set up the Cisco router according to the instructions, but I'm not able to connect to the internet. It shows that my computer was able to get a Local Network connection, but internet connection keeps failing.... I tried changing the IP address. But I'm confused about the whole thing. Is the Default gateway number suppose to be the same for both routers? Is it possible that the Actiontec router isnt giving off a strong enough wireless signal? I'm open for suggestions! Thanks

    Mac or Windows machine?
Is the WRT connected directly to the upstairs computer? I don't think you can use the WRT that way?
Have you had a look here?:http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/General-Linksys-Router-FAQs/td-p/4286
I THINK you would have to have a WETxx (Ethernet Adapter)  instead?
If it connects to the Internet even breifly then I suppose that means your connected but it may be losing the signal and failng. You would porbably have ot get a WAP(Access Point) and use it as a repeater.
I'm a bit rusty on the names so I hope i got them right, hope it helps.....

  • Verizon Aircard and Wireless Router

I have a ZTE AD3700 aircard from Verizon for Internet access.  Is there a compatible wireless router for my aircard so I can also connect an iPad I got as a gift?

ZTE AD3700 aircard is wireless USB card .
I don't think that there is any Linksys router which has USB port for Internet connection.

  • Best wireless router too share Verizon Wireless USB720 connection?

Our connection with Verizon Wireless via USB720 modem on an older Imac keeps dropping because we us that via airport to connect 2 other Macbooks. In research, I guess it's because airport and EVDO share a similar RF. Anyway, I need a wireless router for the USB720, and I don't have a clue where to start. What's the best router? Am I going to have to install the VZ Manager for the USB720 on the router, via the Imac?

check out the 3G/cellular routers from Cradlepoint.
The best one for home use is the http://3gstore.com/MBR1000 because of its WiFi N wireless range.
You won't use/need VZAM. you connect via airport or ethernet cable to the MBR1000

  • Verizon Fios Complaint / Requesting an upgraded wireless router

    Good evening,
I called customer service about 6 times Monday night, requesting to get a new updated wireless router because my new laptop I purchased wasn't working on the current one. Knowing that my gear is outdated, I figured it wouldn't be a hassle because I've been a customer for 3 years. (I have the wireless b,g; all of my new neighbors have the wireless b,g,n)(I live on a military instillation where we are only offered fios as internet, so I can see the neighbors wireless signals and see that they are all b,g,n signals)
As soon as I asked if I could get a new router, Fios support instantly started explaining how its backwards compatible and it's not the routers problem after "looking" at my settings and other devices connected. Ok, I know that its backwards compatible, but I would still like to upgrade my equipment. . .technology is evolving and I do not feel like I should have to keep the original dinosaur that I was issued 3 years ago just because it still works.
After talking to me about the backwards compatibility and walking me through tech support on how to fix the connectivity problem, the Fios support tech explained that the new wireless routers are in high demand and that they are only given to new customers/preferred customers and in select areas? REALLY?
    Questions for you:
What makes you a preferred customer? Is 3 years not enough?
Select areas???? I'm in DC! It's the nation’s capital.
New customers only? So are you really requesting I drop your service because my 3 years of loyalty is not good enough?
All I ask for is a little upgrade to keep up with the times/new devices. I do did not expect to get the answers I did, and feel as if Verizon does not care about its current customers, but feels the need to pull in as many new customers as they can, bind them in a contract, and completely fail at giving the loyal customers the treatment they should get for sticking with Verizon though all of the crap.
Thank you for taking the time to view my complaints, I would have called or filed a complaint through other means but I cannot navigate through the website to find an easy way to do that, and when I called to get the upgrade it was no help to me at all. So if any Verizon Tech Support have answers for me or can help me get an upgrade thank you.
    Respectfully submitted,
    Loyal Verizon Customer
