Verizon won't port my current home number to Fios

I've been a Verizon home phone customer since before they were called Verizon, over thirty years. During that time, I've had the same phone number at the same address. I want to subscribe to Verizon Triple Play so I can get away from Comcast. However, Verizon keeps telling me that they cannot port my number. I have called repeatedly and talked to a various people. They either tell me that "it's a copper line and they cannot convert it" or they tell me that I have a foreign exchange for my area. A foreign exchange? If I've had the number for over thirty years and my neighbors have the same exchange, how is it a foreign exchange? I have filed a complaint with the FCC for a violation of the Portability Act. I would really like to resolve this though and just switch over. I should not have to fight when I want to buy more products from Verizon.

What I have learned from talking with Verizon billing, is because my old telephone number that I had with TimeWarner had been originally given to me by Verizon many years back and then it was ported over to TimeWarner from Verizon that Verizon now won't port the old number back over to my house landline because they have already ported it out once years ago for me.
One suggested I create a new account, don't know it this can be done or not. I got a really good price on the FIOS Triple Play bundle I had installed and don't want to loose the great Verizon FIOS price deal I have.
Really frustrated at this point, being told before installation that I could keep my old phone number, spending a lot of time on the phone and then being told I can't do it after installation is completed.
Any ideas on how to get or make Verizon port over my old telephone number I have on my Tracfone now to my Verizon FIOS landline? I was told by a Verizon rep that it can't be done and they won't do it since the telephone number is my old Verizon phone number from many years ago that they ported out they won't port in back it now. I have been trying for six months to get my old copper wire phone number ported into FIOS, and have heard nothing but excuses and failure. I am paying two bills, one for FIOS and one for the copper wire line. In a thread earlier this year titled "Help! Verizon won't port old phone number over to my FIOS house landline", a user reported success in getting his old telephone number ported in to FIOS after filing a complaint with the FCC. Do I need to file a complaint with the FCC in order to get some action on this request?

Aperture2 Upgrade won't accept 1.0 serial number

Aperture2 Upgrade won't accept 1.0 serial number. I've reentered it twice. I'm reading it directly from the original papers.

I had a similar experience and called Apple Tech Support. After spending 20 min on hold, I was told the Aperture 1.0 serial number was "fragged for abuse" and was tagged as invalid by Apple and that I could not upgrade. This is despite being able to register it when it was bought off Ebay 15 months ago and downloading all software updates thru 1.5.6 and using it for 15 months without a problem.
When I asked about getting a refund for the Aperture 2.0 Upgrade which would not install I spent 45 minutes getting the runaround from four separate "customer service" representatives. This included several, "I have to talk to my supervisor" moments, being bumped back to the initial telephone menu by one rep who could not connect me to someone who could help, and lots more hold time.
Eventually I was given a return authorization for the "Upgrade" and will get a refund on my $99 purchase. Initially they wanted to order the Full Aperture 2.0 Program for me and not refund my upgrade purchase, which meant I would pay $298 to run Aperture 2.0! I like Aperture, but not that much!!
My advice is to call tech support and give them the Aperture 1.0 serial number and see what they say when they run it through their system. If you purchased it from Apple you will probably be given another serial number to use to activate the upgrade, otherwise, like me you might be SOL.
One other piece of advice: backup your current Aperture Library BEFORE you install 2.0. I went to the local Apple Store, bought the full 2.0 Upgrade program (smiling the entire time, of course) and had the "creative", who I had an Aperture one-on-one appointment, with, install it, thinking he would know how to do it better than me. Wrong! He did not backup the library before installing it and the new program crashed each time as it was trying to load the old library. I eventually brought it home--unworking--deleted the old library on the hard drive and had to import the project files from backup DVD's I had burned.
Good luck and I hope you have an easier time than I did today trying to make Aperture 2.0 work...

Home number changed without my knowledge. Want my old number back.

I have been in touch with Verizon's phone representatives ever since moving into my new apartment. Most recently, my home number changed after I cancelled digital voice service and got Verizon to put me back on my old service. The new number that Verizon has me on is not even recognized as a Verizon number! I talked to Britney the other day and was told that she would call me after getting permission to change our number back to what it was before. This current number sems like the temporary number that Joanie gave me during my FIOS installation. When I called Verizon again this morning to check the status of my inquiry I was told that they can't change my number back because it's unauthorized and that the number is not even Verizon's. My home number has been hijacked and I AM HELPLESS. Everyone says one thing and I am stuck with a number I didn't even ask for. Please help me get my old number back. This is not right.

Grandfathered unlimited, but want to keep my current phone number

My wife loves her phone number, but no longer needs her unlimited data. She has an old plan, and we know that if we take advantage of the subsidy and upgrade her line, it will lose the unlimited data.
I am just winding down my first 2 year contract with Verizon, iphone 5. Separate account form my wife btw. So I was not able to get an unlimited data plan, I am on a tiered data plan, and I could really use an unlimited plan, like my wife's.
Reps have told me that there is no way to switch plans, but each keep our own phones and phone numbers. Apparently the phone number and the plan are tied together. WE could just trade phones, but then we would also be swapping phone numbers.
Can anybody suggest a solution?
I've considered taking over a friend's unlimited plan via Assumption of Liability, but then there is no way to get my phone number onto that unlimited line, at least so long as my phone number is already tied to a verizon line. (however, I do understand that if I take over a line via AOL, that I can subsequently change that number. It just may not be possible to change it to my particular number, )Is this correct?
I could go get a Sprint unlimited line, and then port my number over... but I think Verizon is a better provider.
Ive tried to think if google voice could help... I could port my current number out to google voice, and then see if I could port my number back in to the AOL unlimited line. Is this possible?

This is all so silly.

When you say "getting a new phone through my new business plan", are you the account rep for the new business plan? Is the business plan through Verizon?
If you port your number to a new carrier, and your line is still in contract with Verizon, yes, there is an ETF. If the new business plan is with Verizon, the business plan can do an AOL of your line, and there will be no ETF.
If you are not the owner of the business plan, then you'll need to to talk to the account manager of the business plan to ensure that your number is ported, if possible.

ITouch mail won't work on my home network, works everywhere else.

My 2nd generation itouch's email won't work on my home network. I get a message that says something like "Unable to connect to Pop3 server." It works on other people's home networks, public networks, etc. Just not mine. I'm guessing my router / modem has a setting somewhere that is the problem. Verizon won't help me because it's a device problem, not an internet problem (their opinion). I have read all of the posts on the forum about this mail issue, but since it works everywhere else, I don't think it's an itouch issue. It's a Verizon Westell modem. thanks for any help.

I have had the same problem and just solved it. My home wireless is with ATT and they told me they have been receiving a lot of problems with users suddenly unable to gain access to wi-fi in their home. When we checked my wireless home connection the I.P address on my ITouch was incorrect. The prior IP address was not correct and 'somehow' got corrupted...no one knows how that happened. My cust service rep was excellent and walked me through renaming my wireless hardware as well as changing my channel - and it worked. we changed the name of my wireless modem/router, then changed the channel...to a different number than it was. You are correct in that the problem is with home service. my rep actually took me to an ip address ---numbers not a www address where we made the changes- I hope this helped. Can you tell me what the current version number for
acrobat.com is? One of my computers (XP Home SP3) shows version #
1.2.443, but I just intstalled it on another of my computers
(actually, it automatically installed with acrobat 9 I think) (this
computer has XP Pro SP3) and the version shows as 1.2.443. I also
have a third computer with version 1.1.377. So now I am really
confused...I JUST installed acrobat.com o this computer, yet it has
an older version than one of my other computers that installed it

1. Why would they have different version numbers (especially

Current Page Number

Hi,
I'm a newbie at any kind of Acrobat development, but can't seem to find a way to get the current page number on the client side of a pdf loaded into Reader. Is there a fairly painless way to do this? Additionally, it'd be cool to be able to change pages using client-side script as well (I'm currently re-loading it with the #page= attribute)...can I do that easily?
Here's a short description of the app so that my questions make a little more sense:
- Dropdowns on the left to drill down to a specific set of options. Iframe on the right that loads a corresponding pdf and loads the proper page for the dropdown options the user has selected as they drill down.
- Need to be able to reverse the process somehwat so that if the user goes to a page in the pdf on the right I can update some of the info on the left.
Any tips on how to accomplish this are greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks, Malky! I have been looking more into that aspect of the sdk now and it looks promising. However, I've downloaded the samples and can't seem to get any of them to work. I even tried the html sample figuring it'd be the easiest to get running, but the control specified by the object tag won't load (and doesn't error or anything like that). Can you point me in the right direction for getting started with the IAC stuff? Do I need to have Acrobat in order to do this or something? Thanks for your help!

Why won't Apple register the serial number for my ipod?

Apple won't register the serial number for my ipod purchased at a Walmart. Also noticed there is no settings icon in the upper left corner and can't connect to my own internet connection at home. Any suggestions?

Purchased new. Did not try to register thru iTunes. Just wanted to hook up via my wi-fi connection at home. Why won't Apple register my serial number without hook up to iTunes?

No, you won't be able to transfer a number to Skype. Skype does not participate in number-portability schemes, so you would have to select a Danish number from what Skype has available.

Port 0 configuration error number 37

Hello,
I'm running a Labview routine which talks to two instruments, one via serial RS232 and the other through
GPIB. It logs back values from these instruments about once a minute over several days.
The routine uses frames to sequentially address these instruments and read back values to graph and file. It was written with standard Serial and GPIB write and read modules (in each frame), basically sending the appropriate instrument command.
The problem I have is that it can work flawlessly for days logging data and then it will throw up an error (Port 0 configuration error number 37). If the prompt box (asking whether to continue), comes up when there is noone there, the routine will hang (and data lost).
Does anyone know
why this might be happening (doesn't always happen) and any work round? Is there a way of stopping promt boxes from appearing and just re-trying the connection again if it occurs?
A similar problem of occasional GPIB read error (EABO 6) was cured by increasing the timeout settings slightly. This may not be relevant.

Yes, the serial ports are working OK and you're right its just that the problem occurs occasionally. I might run the routine over a weekend (say ~3 days) and it will work fine, no errors and all data safely to file. I'll run it again another time and find I got an error (usually in the middle of the night!).
The slowing down question is interesting. Sometimes I do think the computer is slower after running the application e.g. loading data in to Excel etc. takes ages. A restart usually sorts this out. There was a strange problem running Labview routines on another platform (HP Brio, Win 98), which resulted in a time lag (the computer clock slowed down). This appeared to be a hardware thing though (tried different operating systems) as it doesn't do it on the Win 95 Dell machine (current platform).
No, the routine appears to work OK on the Dell except for this error.
The routine was one of the first I wrote so it is quite intuitive in structure. Frame cell to write to instruments followed by frame cell to read back etc. There are frames for each instrument. The frame sequences run in a loop which executes after every minute. Logging is to file and screen chart with elapsed time and instrument values.
I'm interested in the closing and reopening of the serial port if this happens. How would you implement this simply in Labview? Would you need some sort of conditional linked to the error codes of the serial module? Is there a good text on this. I must admit I haven't delved too deeply into the detail of managing errors properly in Labview.
The serial instrument in this set up is an environmental chamber. So its reading back values from I think a Eurotherm module. I don't know whether there could be an error with this?
Its a bit of a problem to test a solution to this as it takes several days to run it and I guess we'd just need to keep repeating it and just see if the problem no longer occurs.

I have a Verizon 4g aircard and am trying to remote into the network on which it is hosted. Does Verizon block incoming ports on their aircards???

Please try to configure your connection manager to use Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) or another alternative VPN solution available within your company to adjust your setting accordingly so you can make a connection. I respect the fact that you are the Network Administrator. However, the setting up and using the VPN is done strictly by the Administrator. This is because one VPN can differ from another VPN.
