Version 2.0.0.16 will not uninstall

I have been running version 3.6.5. I was in the COntrol Panel; to remove some other programs and noticed that there was an entry for FIreFox 2.0.0.16. I had 3.6.5 installed too. I also noticed that the version 2.0.0.16 was marked as having been used frequently. I tried to delete the old version and got a poup window that said the uninstall program could not be found, and allows me to browse for the program. How do I get rid of the old version or the artifacts of it?

Most likely only what is left of the Firefox 2.0.0.16 version is that entry in Add and Remove programs.
That can happen if you update and to updater program doesn't remove that old entry.
You can leave or use a registry cleaner or remove that entry yourself from.

  • I have installed a free download from an older version adobe reader and it will not uninstall?

Most programs unistall easily from the control panels add/remove programs icon application.
This older version i installed on my computer will not uninstall.
    Any sggestions.
It tends to stall out or not uninstall at all.
There is not even an unistall choice available any more on the add/remove programs.

You can try using this tool to remove all traces of previous version(s) of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Adobe Air version 2.5.1.17730 will not uninstall or update.

    My computer
AMD Phenom 9150e Quad-core 1.80 GHz with 7 GB memory
Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit) with Service Pack 2.
    NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450
I tried to update Adobe Air.  It downloaded fine.  I click the run button and it showed in the bottom tool box area( minimize.  running mouse over it showed the screen to install), however it will not restore to full screen so I can install.  I have uninstall all adobe programs (reader/flash/shockwave) and they uninstalled fine.  I reinstall same programs and they all installed correctly.  Adobe AIR will not.  I've even tried to delete program without any luck.  I've gone to MicroSoft for  help and no luck.  I've tried all the suggestion here at adobe no luck.  It is affecting other programs on my computer as well.  WHAT CAN I DO??????
It does not give me any error codes.  The best I can tell is it happens with "adobe Air setup"  and I get "Runtime errors"  I am not a program

Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com? Please include the air app or download URL to help us reproduce the problem.

  • HT1923 I cannot install the latest version of itunes as it instructed me to uninstall the version I had, which I did, but the "Apple mobile device support" will not uninstall.  This has left me with no itunes .  Help please

I cannot install the latest version of iTunes as it instructed me to uninstall the version I had, which I did, but the "Apple mobile device support" will not uninstall.  This has left me with no iTunes and the new version will not install until I can uninstall all the old components.  Help please

You could try downloading and installing 7-Zip (free) and downloading a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe installer, unpack the installer into its components using 7-Zip then try installing AppleApplicationSupport again. It may still fail to install but you may get more useful error messages as to why not.

With that complex of symptoms, let's try the following procedure.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those QuickTime entries, and click “remove”.
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx. (If “Hide filename extensions for known file types” is enabled on the PC, then those two files will appear as “QuickTime” and QuickTimeVR”.)
    7. Restart your computer.
Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Java Runtime will not uninstall!

I just tried to install sun's java vm (v.1.4.1_02), but nearing the end of the installation, the install would not go any further so I had to cancel. Now my system says that the runtime environment is installed, but if I try to uninstall it in the control panel (I'm running xp), the uninstall fails. Everything seems to go ok, but when finished, the java entry is still there in my control panel. Please help. Thank you.

I have the same problem. I had two versions and the latest uninstalled but the 1.4.0_01 will not uninstall or at least it still exists in my control panel. I want to completely start over with java but I don't want mulitple versions at the same time. Please help or direct me to the answers to completely remove java.
    thanks

  • My DVR security sofware that I access remotely uses a "dvr .ocx" file....when I try it in Firefox , either the latest non beta (3.6.1.5) or the new beta version (4.0 rc) it will NOT work as it says the plugin is missing... it works in IE 8,but not IE9...

My machine is Top of the range (my Company builds them so it had better be :) )
    Amd 1100t , 8gb ram , Windows 7 64 bit etc, etc...
The is not a hardware problem , but a software problem with FF...Any help would be appreciated as I hate using IE 8 for anything at all :( but I have to keep it on my machines just to run my remote security cameras at my Computer shop ???
Original question...as question length is limited ...not very bright that limit by the way :(
"My DVR security sofware that I access remotely uses a "dvr .ocx" file....when I try it in Firefox , either the latest non beta (3.6.1.5) or the new beta version (4.0 rc) it will NOT work as it says the plugin is missing... it works in IE 8 (unfortunately) but not IE9...
As I own a Computer company I am fairly computer literate but cannot find a plugin that allows this to work in Firefox.... but I would have expected it to work in the new Firefox :(
    All the best, Brett :)

The longer this thread continues, the more ancillary comments you throw in that aren't directly pertinent to your problem with your DVR software not working with Firefox 4.0. Sorry, I don't intend to continue with this discussion.
I do agree that ''something'' needs to be done better with regards to plugins for Firefox, but I do disagree with you as to whose responsibility that ''something'' is.

I am trying to update to iTunes 10 to us my new iPad, but I can not remove a corrupted? "apple software update" program... I can get everything else off, but due to "previous version" of software update it will not continue.
I stopped in to see one of the genius at the local store who referred me to "Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable" (I am trying to install it on a Windows XP System)
The last version on iTunes on my PC was iTunes 7.
    Thanks for your help,

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • I upgraded from 3.6.13 to Beta 4.0 and now Firefox will not open at all I tried to uninstall to start again but it will not uninstall either it does nothing.

I uninstalled Beta 4 and re-installed 3.6.13 now Firefox will not open at all I tried to uninstall to start again but it will not uninstall either it does nothing, I have been using Firefox for a long time but cannot resolve this problem can anyone help and give me a solution please. As I use Firefox as my web browser it is very frustrating.
The fact it will not uninstall appears to be something completely new as nobody I know who uses Firefox has ever encountered this in the past.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

I am in the same boat. I tried repeatedly to contact iTunes support, but was told each time that I had contacted the wrong deaprtment and they could not help me. There must be a way to still be able to use the iTunes store without paying for a system update. If not, I hope they will reimburse me the money I have in my acount.
