Version 2.0 on Newly Purchased Refurb

I bought the Touch 8.0 a couple weeks ago and have had it for about a week. I'm having major problems getting email to work (still haven't other than GMail.) Anyway, it was advised that I upload version 2.0 to reset the software. It was thought my email problem could be a software issue.
Anyway, when I signed onto iTunes and was asked about uploading version 2.0, I said, "Yes," and the process proceeded without asking me for credit info, so I am presuming that on these new refurbs, the payment is waived and you can go download version 2.0 without a charge. Could that be true? I was not asked for payment info AT ALL!
So far, so good. Download was uneventful; worked fine. I've already downloaded a few third party programs and am enjoying them without incident. Looks like 2.0 is well worth it!! But I still can't access my home email account...only GMail.
I'm thinking this isn't that important! I can live without email...can't I?

I'm using Apple Mail on a MacPro laptop running 10.4.11 -- have a refurbished iPod Touch with the 2.0 upgrade (I'll have to check to see if I was charged for the upgrade. Ha!). Anyway, I've had it almost two weeks. I'm using pop.mindspring.com with EarthLink. Or I would be, if it worked! I went from being able to send mail but not receive mail, to not having either work. I called EarthLink and confirmed the settings. I trashed the account on the Touch and set it up again. I went into iTunes and ran a sync from there; that put my Safari bookmarks, contacts, etc., on the Touch (yay!). I made sure that "push" was turned off and I was doing "fetch" instead. Wi fi seems to work fine; I've been able to use Safari, YouTube, Maps, etc. STILL NO EMAIL! It just forever looks for mail and doesn't find it. I'm getting ready to use my one phone call (as an iPod purchaser) and call Apple. Then, if necessary, I'm going to the Genius Bar for a little face-to-face.

    Hi...in addition to the problem i an having with itunes (can't connect at all...to register or for the store), my daughter's Christmas ipod...(4th gen nano, purchased refurbished from apple) suddenly has no backlight. It worked fine the first few days...she has probably used it less than 10 minutes total, and that was in my prescence so I know it hasn;t been damaged. I have tried resetting the settings, tried holding it under a bright light so I can read the darn screen and setting the birghtness to high, backlight to always on...tried pressing the menu and center button at the same time...not sure what to do. Was hoping I could resolve this without returning it and therefore haven't contacted apple yet, being a holiday and all, but am frustrated by both issues I am having. Can't reset it with itunes software as it won't let me connect.
    Any ideas?
    did I get a defective nano?

    In my opinion, it sounds like one of two things have happened:
    1.I have just checked on my nano, and it is possible to turn off the backlight. Go somewhere where you can read the darkened screen, if possible. Go to the main menu>Settings>General>Backlight. From there you can select an option.
    2. If the first solution fails, your ipod is probably deffective, but if it was a holiday present it should still be under warranty.

    I found a doc Install rollback | Photoshop Elements | Windows that provides information on installation rollback. I'd suggest that you use the doc before calling up customer support. If your problem is still not addressed,  share the installation log file (information available in the suggested document) when you contact customer support (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/).

    Hi there.  I recently updated to the latest version of itunes, and am unable to get newly-purchased ibooks onto my ipod - I don't see any way to click and drag the ibook.  Am I missing something?

    This is a copy of ONEof the keys  in the registry I changed  as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR  software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others  they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so  I downloaded the software and installed again.
    Sorry, just this minute went to insert image  and it is giving me a message saying this sort of content  is not allowed?.
    The most recent key I altered is in: HKey _local _machine. System\class - 4D36E965-E325-11CEBFC1-08002BE10318. Upper Filter data: Upper filter NTIDrvr  SiRem GEARAspiWDN.

  • New computer + New iTunes Version = No syncing of new purchases!

    A few months back, my husband and I had to purchase a new computer. Once we got the computer up and running, we naturally downloaded iTunes to it so that we could purchase new music to add to both of our iPods (we each have the 30GB iPod w/ video). Previously, we had an older version of iTunes on our laptop and never had an issues downlaoding/purchasing music and importing music form CD's we own. Our iPods always updated and sync just fine.
    However, since the purchase of our new computer and downloading the latest version of iTunes to that new new computer, we have nothing but problems and have been extremely disapointed. We authorized our new computer and I have tried all the listed trouble shooting suggestions and nothing works.
    Mainly, we cannot play any of our songs loaded in from CD's via iTunes any longer and worst of all, if we purchase new music and/or load a new CD in, the iPods will not sync and add the new music!!! This is very frustrating!!!
    The ONLY thing that has worked to get newly purchased or loaded music on to one of our iPods was to "restore" the settings. However, this erased ALL the songs that were loaded on to the iPod before getting our new computer, it erased ALL the playlists we had made, and now we only have about 145 out of the over 850 song we used to have on our iPod. At this time, we have only tried restoring one of our two iPods so that we don't loose everything from both of them!
    Any suggestions as to what we can do to solve our problem would be great. I really just wish I could have my old iTunes version back that used to work great and was fun to use. The new iTunes 7.1.1 has been awful to us. :o(
    P.S. I am not very "technical" when it comes to this computer stuff, so easy to follow, simple instructions are best! Sorry!!!! I am jsut really not good when things change like this after getting used to using it one way for so long! :o(

    We have purchased ISE 1.2 ( hardware appliance ) however we would need Anyconnect 4.0 agent software  which needs minimum ISE 1.3 version.
    Can anybody please guide me how do i upgrade this newly purchased device directly to ISE 1.3 ? we have not even switched on the hardware.

    hello Vinod, what are the license you have bought. With ISE 1.2.1 we have new licensing scheme (plus license) and with 1.3 we have Apex, mobility license as well.

    I’ve owned Macs since 1990 (IICX my first), mostly desktops. Having had DVD/CD drives in all my previous laptop Macs since 2001 -  (2) G4 Powerbooks,  A 17” Mac Book Pro - and also inspecting a friend’s year-old Mac Book Pro which had the DVD slot - unless someone told me at purchase, I had no reason to know that the Retina display version of the 15” had NO DVD drive. ANYHOW, I fully intended to buy the non-Retina display version, because it was cheaper. Unfortunately by the time I got to the Apple store they were no longer selling the non-Retina display version; all versions were ONLY with the Retina display. And the fine distinction of a DVD vs. a non-DVD drive was not pointed out. So now I have to shell out an additional $80 bucks for an external SuperDrive.

    Friends:
    I purchased an $1100 Nikon camera and the deal included OEM PS Premiere Elements 10.
    Legit purchase with a CD and legit Serial #.
    Can't install because what is Adobe's fault, not the camera vendor's and certainly not mine.
    Adobe's own published notice:
    "The 64-bit version of Adobe Premiere Elements 10 only installs on Windows 7 64 bit. If you have Windows XP 64 bit or Vista 64 bit, it's necessary to install the 32-bit version. Because the Adobe Download Assistant automatically downloads the 64-bit version in error, it's necessary to download the 32-bit version manually through alternate means."
    The problem is that the same holds true for installing on XP Pro SP3 and Adobe makes no mention of it in the above admission.
    Then, Adobe's own Solutions 1, 2 & 3 for manual download all fail, even after fussing for days over it.
    Even Solution 3, the last ditch option, fails perhaps because Elements 11 is out and Adobe has killed the 10 download Ftp sites.
    Files I am unable to download from Adobe (without entrapment by so called Free Dowload sites) are:

    my own (and others') posts in Adobe forums. Plus, just read the Internet posts along these lines:
    "It's impossible to download anything from Adobe. I have given up and I have given up on Adobe products."
    Not that I want to, but I am forced into echoing the same sentiment.

    The download now works. Appreciate your help.
    The ...7z file is 1.37 Gb long. I have super high speed Fibre Optic Internet connection with Bell. I rarely have the ocassion to download files of this size. After downloading more than 1 Gb, the transfer hung - either at the Client end, or at the Server end. Bell is sending tech Thursday to mitigate some line noise they detected. Hopefully, the stars will fall into the right place before long.

  • TS3960 can't login to my newly purchased / installed OS X Server...

    When trying to login to the server with server app it's telling 'shaking' as if to say password is wrong or similar...I've found a few support pages that say to:
    To check if servermgrd is loaded, see the output of this command in Terminal:
    sudo launchctl list | grep -q com.apple.servermgrd && echo loaded || echo not loaded
    If the output is "not loaded", load the com.apple.servermgrd job into launchd with this command:
    sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.servermgrd.plist
    However the output of the first sudo command shows 'not loaded', but the second sudo command to load outputs
    'launchctl: Couldn't stat("/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.servermgrd.plist"): No such file or directory nothing found to load'
    NEED SOME HELP PLS, my machine now doesn't work on ethernet due to this problem...fortunately airport is working though for now...
    WHY would a newly purchased and installed version of Lion Server do this!! Arrrggghhh....

    Since you erased the external drive that might have had Server's library, I would suggest doing a clean install of the operating system you had on the Mini, then reinstall Server. You can see here on how to create a bootable USB Yosemite drive and here for a clean install of Yosemite.

    Hey everybody,
    I also was experiencing the unknown error -42018 when attempting to download purchased music. Additionally, I was stuck in an endless authorization loop when attempting to play previously purchaed music. All this started when I installed the latest iTunes software 7.0.2.
    I run windows XP Pro, and unlike the majority of users I actually set it up correctly with a dedicated administrator account, and regular user accounts instead of just running as admin all the time. For me, that was the cause of the problem.
    The new version of iTunes software required FULL CONTROL privilages on the iTunes and iPod install directories for all user accounts that were using the program. (Previous versions worked fine, so this is a new thing.) Once I provided those permissions, iTunes worked correctly. Follow this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040 for information on how to provide FULL CONTROL to every user account.

In other words I do not have the trial version any longer so I need the actual download files/folder to link the serial number to. I have CC as well but that shouldn't make a difference - I need to run InDesign CS6 for third party plugins.

         If you have purchased CS6 Indesign Download from Adobe Online, then you can go ahead and login to your Adobe account and navigate to "My Adobe" > "My Orders" to locate the Order, its download and the serial number.
         You can also download the same trial version again and just use the serial number to activate it to a full version. Below is the link for the trial versions for CS6 versions:

  • 1stGen Apple TV Won't Play Newly Purchased Movies

    I have a 1stGen Apple TV and just purchased 2 movies on my computer via the iTunes Store. When I try to play them on my 1stGen Apple TV It shows the movies on my "Shared Movies" Menue, but won't play the content. On the main menue it shows them at being 0sec long. I can navigate through the movie content menues, but can not play any of the content. All other movies work just fine, just these newly purchased ones....I have tried everything and nothing works.

    You might try copying the HD movies to your desktop, then deleting the listing and original from iTunes, iTunes should then let you re-download an SD version for the Apple TV 1. You can then re-import the HD version from your desktop.

    My mom just got a new iPhone and we set up iTunes and downloaded the new version like it asked. We set up a new iTunes account and we downloaded some songs to break the new iPhone in, we downloaded them under her id and account. I have an iPod and already use iTunes but i logged out of mine to dl the songs for her. Sooooo.., now, when i try to drag the newly purchased songs to the iPhone or even the library, it won't allow me. My library still shows up in iTunes.....Can someone please help us!

    Sorry - that works, but I think you still have to go into the Music tab and click the box to sync music in the first place. Select your iPhone in the left hand list to see these tabs.
    Then, you can choose to sync certain playlists to keep the size manageable.
    It's not necessary to check the boxes on the music files themselves, or check the box on the front tab that says sync checked items only. That's (as you've found) basically just extra work.

    I'm trying to connect my Newly purchased Vypyr 120 tube amp into Garageband 11.
    My Mac sees the Audio in as Vypyr USB Interface but that's where it ends. No Midi input is detected therefore no recording level available.
    According to the manual the Vypyr is supposed to be plug and play but I suspect the driver it supplies/uses is out of date with my current Mac OS and
    GarageBand 11 on my machine.
    Does Garageband allow this to work?
    I am using:
    Garageband 11 version 6.0.4 (427.84)
    Mac OS X 10.7.5
    Vypyr 120 Firmware = 1.5.8
    Basically evrything is current and new ( The Amp's brand New ! )
    What can we do to get things working?
    Keep in mind everything is brand new and supposed to be working !
    What's going on here why isn't it working as Peavey claims it should be !!
    It's very dissappointing !

    Yes it kind of does except the level is extremly faint and no way of adjusting it.
    Seems the Amp volume adjusts the headphones but not the recording level in GBand.
    My setup as below...
    I'm contacting Peavey to find out what gives...
    Does anyone know if there's some way of adjusting the recording level in such a setup/situation ?
