Version 2 - Cannot open Connection window
Version 2.1.0.62
Build Main 62.61
Host - Windows XP.
I have just installed this version, but cannot create a new connection. The connection window just does not appear.
I have tried:
- Clicking the Plus icon on the left panel.
- Right clicking "Connections" - new
- Clicking an existing (migrated) connection and selecting properties
- File - New - Highlight Database Connection - brings up window with title "New Gallery"
Nothing happens.
I am afraid I need to downgrade / use TOAD as I need to get some work done.
Would really like to get it working - by any means
Just sending some feedback.
Thanks
Paul

Hi there,
Thanks for responding.
I downloaded the the version that included the JDK, and when prompted for Java pointed to:
C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\jdk\jre\bin as far as I recall. (java.exe is in this directory)
I loaded over the previous version (1.5)
I have local admin rights, I believe.
Don't know how to check Local and Language but almost certainly EN-UK and GMT.
C:\Dev\SVN>java -version
java version "1.6.0_16"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_16-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.2-b01, mixed mode, sharing)
I had to re-install an earlier version (over version 2 ):
CVS Version Internal to Oracle SQL Developer (client-only)
Java(TM) Platform 1.5.0_06
Oracle IDE 1.5.5.59.69
Versioning Support 1.5.5.59.69
But if I cd to above mentioned location:
C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\jdk\jre\bin>java -version
java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode)
An now with this version I cannot get to the connection window.
The workaround I am using is to edit the xml file containing connections and importing it.
I hope that is helpful - I can send more info if you require,
thanks

[gnome] cannot open any window
Hello,
Since this morning I cannot open any window. Not exactly because if I double-click on a folder on my desktop, nautilus shows up but if I double-click on a text-file, nothing happens.
If I do ALT+F2, a launcher appears but if I try do start any application (gedit, firefox, terminal or even nautilus), I see a notification in the bottom of the screen ("starting gedit...") but it disappear after a few seconds.
If I try from the application menu, same. Same with the administration tools.
In the conky (automatic startup), I see that dropbox (also automatic startup) is running but I don't have the icon in the top right corner.
Only one or two percent of the CPU is used and a few megabits for the RAM
Yesterday I added two line in my ~/.xinitrc to start mpd but as it didn't work (couldn't start gnome) I removed them this morning and now I have that (but it could have been caused by something else I did yesterday)
Fortunately I have ubuntu on another partition but I want my archlinux back
Thank you
edit : it seems that it was an error from my /etc/hosts file

If applicable, contact your network administrator. The proxy server may need to have its settings changed.
Disable the built-in application firewall, if it's in use. If you're running a third-party firewall such as “LittleSnitch” or “Hands Off,” disable that. Test.
In some versions of OS X, Parental Controls has a bug that prevents loading of secure websites. Turn it off.
Are the current date (including the year) and time shown on your system clock? If not, correct them and test.
Otherwise, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar of the Activity Monitor window, if not already selected. Enter "ocspd" (without the quotes) in the "Filter" text field. Is a process with that name listed?
If not, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the Finder menu bar. Into the text box that opens, copy the following line of text:
/var/db/crls
From the folder that opens, move these two files to the Trash:
crlcache.db
ocspcache.db
You’ll be prompted for your administrator password when you do this. Then reboot, empty the Trash, and try again. -
Cannot open connection in a peer-to-peer netword
I created a peer-to-peer network between two PDAs loaded with Windows Mobile 5.0. It is shown that both of them were connected, and their IPs were assigned automatically.
But when I used TCP/IP Open function, it returns an error 10060 'Cannot open connection'. DO I miss something here? It should be a simple connection.
Solved!
Go to Solution. The error you are receiving is become the timeout on the connection has been exceeded. If your time out is too short (or non-existant) you can get this error without proper time to establish a connection. Check out these two articles for more information regarding how to establish a TCP/IP connection with your PDA.

Long story short: Simply get CC for teams. At 500 bucks a year it's a steal and those 5 licenses in the base package (or was it 10 even?) cover all your computers, at least the 3 ones you mentioned. For system requirements refer to the individual product pages.

Swipe down from the middle of the home screen - not from the top of the screen - move down a little bit and swipe down. The Spotlight Search field should appear at the top.

Cannot open connection to dvsrv1: The Synch Manager component on the server
Hi Experts,
I extracted batabase for the mobile client successfully, but when trying to initialize the lcal database, Getting the following error:
Unable to Connect to server>
<Cannot open connection to dbsrvr1. The Synch Manager component on the server is most likely unavailable.>
<Internal: connect() failed: Connection timed out.>
I do not have port number mentioned over here as this installation is in my personal laptop.
As I understnd all the ODBC connections are working fine. It would be great if get here some suggestion to do some extra check if required.
In my system DSN in ODBC I could see number of DSN have been present, one for local DBF, one for sample, one for server which I belive I created during the DBserver configuration as external. and could fine one more DSN not sure what for it is.
If the ODBC would not have been configured properly then I belive I should not be get connected to application through thin and thick client.
Any suggestion on this would be helpful
Thanks
DeepakHI Deepak,
I have seen a similar problem back here there are two locations in your tools.cfrg where you may will need to make changes.
1.
[InfraObjMgr]
RequestServerName =
2.
[Local]
DockConnString =
In both the cases you need to mention the Application server name .
Kindly let me know if this actully solves your issue.
Thanks

cannot open PS, window says "Preferences have been deleted". I have NOT deleted anything. How do I fix the problem? Will I need to reinstall the program?
Hi,
This should only occur if this is a NEW computer or your first sync and you have information from another computer.
Has this iPhone been synced with another computer before?
Transferring Purchases; http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848
If you follow that link your Apps WILL be on your computer and any music you have brought......
Now, do not worry, even if you do accidentally delete your apps, you can download them again for free with your itunes store account, just keep in mind you will lose any saved data!
Follow this and hit continue, the only information that could get lost is any content (music, videos etc) synced from ANOTHER computer that WAS NOT brought from your account.
Hope this helps and makes sense.... -
IMovie cannot open import window automatically while connecting camcoder
Before I move my iMovie event folder to external drive, it works fine to open import window while connecting camcoder or inserting SD card. But it doesn't work now. I don't know why? It take a lot of effort to find a suitable tool to convert my MTS files. Is there a simple way that iMovie can do import from folder for MTS file?
Hi
Before I move my iMovie event folder to external drive
Yes - This is not the way to do it.
Try to move iMovie Events and iMovie Project folder - Back and iMovie might find it again.
To move Projects and Events - It has to be done Within iMovie and in resp. windows.
Moving them on DeskTop/Finder most often results in catastrophs !

I replaced the sequence because it differs in both logs, yet the sorting is still descending.
The log before the connect is identical with and without the dubious statement

SMB-problem: can see/manage files, but cannot open from Windows 8.1
I have some files shares on a Mavericks server (clean install, including OSX Server). I can connect and see the shared files from my Windows clients (both 7 and 8.1). I can even create files, rename them, etc. From Windows 7 i can also open and edit them. So far, so good!
From Windows 8.1 however, opening does not work: simple text-files and pdf's don't open at all (server cannot execute instruction/file already open), office documents can only be opened in read-only mode.
In the System log (on OSX Server) are a lot of lines like: smbd[714]: File system does not support 0x0 time attributes (or does not support 0x400000, file attrs).
Using Windows Power Shell, I figured out that there is a SMB2.1 connection between Windows and OS X, which seems
to be correct. It appears that OS X judges that Windows is using one or more wrong parameters in an SMB-system call.
I had lots of SMB-problems using Mountain Lion (Snow Leopard server was fine). I don't want to force my Windows machine to use SMB1 (for all shares) using the commands found in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2696547 (I didn't try yet).
Any help would be appreciated. So I have the exact same issues. I actually called Microsoft Support and they tried a bunch of different things. They even tried disabling SMB 2 and 3 on my Windows 8.1, but then I was unable to connect to my OS X 10.9.1 Server share point at all anymore!
Here is what I found out. When I start up from my 10.6.8 Server backup on my Macmini Server, and then mapped the network drive on letter G on Windows 8.1 Pro client machine to that very same share point - worked like a charm. I can read , write and such all fines on that share. All is well. Leaving the Windows 8.1 client alone, on the macmini server I selected the upgraded 10.9.1 Server volume and restarted the Macmini Server. After restart, guess what, I was able to perfectly access the files from Windows 8.1 on the OS X share point which of course was still mapped as drive G on 8.1 from earlier.
Now here comes the kicker. I went ahead and restarted Windows 8.1 and then everything went haywire! I opened the Windows 8.1 desktop and brought up My Computer. I saw that the mapped drive G is no longer connected (red X). I went ahead and double clicked it and then Windows Explorer simply hug itself and wouldn't come back. I had to force quit explorer and ended up ultimately restarting Windows. After restart I went ahead and disconnected the mapped network drive (G), and then re-mapped it. I authenticated with the very same username and password as before. This time I am able to see all the files once again, but can't open or work with any of them. It is super jinxed. In my opinion there is a severe bug in Apples SMB 2 or smbx or whatever they call it. Why couldn't thy just leave it alone and pay a licensing fee and use Samba? It's just so stupid!!!!
Apple, you must fix this problem. I will tell the server tech that I have been working with the very same thing. They should have never release 10.9. It was premature and not ready for prime time. It's good to know that there is a work around however. It is super teadious, and spastic, but hey, at least I get it to work. Either it has something to do with authentication, or the way OS X 10.9 responds when mapping a network drive on windows 8.1 pro? No clue.
Apple does not pay me to Q&A their software. This stuff should simply work! I am ****** off and have wasted now over 3 weeks of my precious time banging my head against the wall with Apple stuff.
Come one guys, get your stuff straightened out. thanks. -
CANNOT OPEN NEW WINDOW or ADD-ONS
I downloaded latest version of Firefox - now I have multiple issues.
I cannot open a new window, I cannot print e-mail body messages, altho I can print the page, I cannot open add-on in tools, but this is this is intermittent, I installed latest Java and sometimes add-ons open and sometimes not, there is no pattern, I also have some problems opening some windows in other applications.
OS is XP- never had problem beforeThe Firefox 3.6.28 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates.
You can update Firefox to the latest version via "Help > About Firefox" or "Help > Check for Updates" or download and install the latest Firefox version.
You can find the latest Firefox release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:
*Firefox 12.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
