Version 6.0.2 installed, Find no "import" on File menu (grey) even I press ALT key.

I installed Firefox 6.0.2 version. No "import" on File(grey).I press ALT key, still get no Import. I want to import favorites from Internet Explorer on the same computer. Please email me ([''email address removed'']) how I can import the favorites.

Another method to import IE Favorites into Firefox Bookmarks:
#Export IE Favorites
#*give the export file a unique name and put it in a location where you can easily find it (i.e., C:\favs-to-Firefox.html)
#*IE export instructions --> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_bookmarks#From_Internet_Explorer

  • Boot Camp not installing Windows 7 - "No bootable device, insert boot disk and press any key."

I need some help with something. A while back, I put a brand new hard drive in my MacBook, a 500 GB model to replace the 120 GB one. I cloned everything successfully to the new drive via Carbon Copy Cloner, but now I want to make a Boot Camp partition on the drive. The SuperDrive in it is defective, so I use an external FireWire drive. So far the Boot Camp Assistant in 10.7 Lion works fine in creating the partition, but when it gets to the part where it tries to boot into the Windows installation disk (32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium, or could the 64-bit work fine as well?), it shows a black scree nwith "No bootable device, insert boot disk and press any key." I try pressing keys, but nothing happens.
I also tried using rEFIt, but that didn't work out either.
Here are the specifications of my machine...
    MacBook (Early 2009 model)
2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
    4 GB of RAM
    500 GB SATA hard drive
Dual-layer SuperDrive (defective, may replace it once I have the cash)
    NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics chip
    Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion
Can anyone help me out with this? Is there some sort of workaround?

Believe it or not, it was the FireWire drive that was the problem! I managed to successfully install Windows 7 using an external USB DVD drive!
Well I am truly staggered, I have tried this on two different MacBook Pros, with three different external USB optical drives. Don't know if you googled as I suggested but you would find hundreds of others who have found same thing. The exception is MacBook Air which works with the Apple writer, but I don't know much about this.
Were you doing any of the special workarounds with refedit etc?
    What model USB DVD drive?

  • Fcp 5.0 freezes when selecting "import" in File menu

Whenever I click on "import" in the File menu, FCP locks up with the File menu still in blue. I have to force quit the program and try again. Through another login, I can import just fine, so I thought it was a bad preference. I dumped the entire prefs folder and deleted it but I still have the problem! HELP!!!!

Dumped the ENTIRE PREFS FOLDER!?!?! Uhm...that might not have been wise. Plus some of the preferences FCP uses aren't in there. best to try all these options:
Shane's Stock Tip Mantra: If the program was working fine, and now isn't, or just isn't working the way it should, the first things to do are:
    1) Trash your FCP preferences. Download the appropriate version of FCP Rescue at http://www.pistolerapost2.com/fcprescue and run it.
    2) Open the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.
    3) (optional) Do the Hokey Pokey and turn your self about. Results may vary.

  • I have Firefox 7.0.1 for Mac and there is no "Import" under File menu that allows me to import bookmarks.

I am using Firefox 7.0.1 on my Mac OS 10.7.2, and there's no "Import" option on the File menu so I can import my bookmarks from Safari.

"Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4 and later.

  • Windows install problems, "No bootable device. Insert boot disk and press any key" and general wrongness

    Hi,
I've been having this issue with a Windows 7 install.
Firstly, I have successfully installed Windows 7 before. I partitioned my HDD, held down option when booting up, booted off a USB and after a few goes it all worked fine. I didn't use boot camp assistant to install. I then proceeded to remove Windows a little while later. To do this I used disk utility to erase the partition on my HDD and but afterwards discovered my imac would continue to try to boot off the now non existant Windows partition. I solved this problem by using boot camp assistant via the "Remove Windows 7 Install" option. My imac booted up exactly as I would like it to from then on.
I am now trying to reinstall windows. I tried the way that I did it the first time but after partitioning my HDD via disk utility, inserting my USB and rebooting with option held down I am only given the option of my main HDD and my recovery drive. I have tried burning the files on the USB to DVD and booting off the disk drive by holding down C while starting up. Neither the USB or DVD are visible to be selected when I hold down option during startup.
When I try to use boot camp assistant to install I get a "No bootable device. Insert boot disk and press any key" error after the step where it partitions your HDD you. Also, my option to create an install USB via boot camp assistant is greyed out and unavailable for clicking.
    Help?

    Fix your superdrive.

    I'm confused
I took this to mean that your DID have an install disk.
By holding down the "C" key, you are booting to the install CD.
Alternatively, you can hold down the "option" key, to select which drive to which you want to boot.

  • 'import' in file menu isn't highlighted. How do I import my favorites from IE8?

Everything under my file menu is highlighted and usable, except 'import'. I wanted to import my favorites from IE8. Cannot do it unless there is a way to get 'import' functioning.

    * Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and features like visited links are disabled and not showing
    * You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
You export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

  • Just installed LR5- not importing RAW files from a card

I just installed LR5 on a MAC.  I have pics to import from cards, one card loaded no problem, the next card brought up the images and when I go to import them I recieve a message saying "Some Import Operations Were not Performed."  giving me the following 2 errors (1) and (563)last night it was (1) and (504) and (505).  Seems like it is reading the images as it pulls them up, just not moving them.  I have reviewed everything from Permissions to loading the cards with no problem in LR4-  what can I try?

This could be a problem with the card reader, cable or the card itself. Can you try a different hardware connection and see if that works?
Of course, it could be other things as well.

  • Word "Import" in File menu is in light grey color. No respond when clicking on "Import". How to activate "Import" in Firefox 3.6.12 version?

Unable to import Favorites from IE to Firefox

Sorry, I don't know how to make that ''Import'' function active. <br />
Try getting your IE Favorites into Firefox with this procedure.
    In IE:
File > Import/Export - Export to HTML file
    ''then in Firefox:'' <br />
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... = From HTML file

  • I find that imported ppt files often display incorrectly in Keynote.

Graphs that we originally metafiles, for instance, don't display axis numbers and labels. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Pierre,
A suggestion that you could try is to see if printing to a pdf file from Preview creates a file that works in Keynote with the correct dimensions. (bypassing Previews export and save) I do know that if you crop a pdf in Preview to show only a small bit of text on the file it will save the entire file but only show the cropped portion of it when used in other programs. It is 'non destructive' so the entire document is saved, but the amount you see onscreen has changed.
I believe this is what is happening. Preview is not changing the rotated file, just the instructions to rotate it when displayed.
By printing the document to a preview window and saving as a pdf from there, you should be creating a brand ew document.
Please try that, and if it doesn't work and if these are not of sensetive material, would I be able to have a look at one of your pdf files that you are working with?

  • How do I split Imovie events?  I find the option in File menu and have selected the part of the event that I want to split before, but the option to split is not bolded (allowed) in the File menu.

I have imported video to iMovie and want to split the event.  I have selected part of the event and when I go to File> Split the event before the selected clip it is not bolded in the menu and it is not an allowed selection.  I had imported directly to an external HD so moved the event to the Mac HD and tried it again. This did not work either.  Any ideas why this option is not available to me???

Use iMovie to move the events to your Movies folder, otherwise you're can't.

As you gain points by giving people good answers the number of coloured bars under your user name increases. In theory, this lets others know how much knowledge you have on the subject and therefore how much they can depend on your replies.

  • When importing RAW files in Photoshop why does camera raw 8.6 only import 1 size?

When importing RAW files in Photoshop why does camera raw 8.6 only import 1 size from canon 5d mark iii, in older versions I used to be able to import the files as larger images. It use to have a number of options for the images size. The option now is smaller than the maximum size used to be.

You know what - I'm sorry
I'd had a crazy long all-nighter session sorting out images for a client, then decided - when I should have simply gone to bed - to set up the new photoshop. At the very start I made a silly mistake, tried to sort it out then decided to call it a day, responding to your remarks with the problem still in my head but feeling more and more tired.
Responded again to your comment earlier with the problem still in my head but not in front of me on the screen - however with a fresh head I just turned it all on, opened up PS and today could instantly see what was going on - Oops!
Thank you for being patient with a sleep deprived photographer who must have been getting annoying yesterday
    I am officially embarrassed
