Version 6 and 7 hangs for 10 to 20 seconds and grabs all of CPU process

Using either version 6 or 7 on OSX 10.6.8 the browser will randomly 'hang' for ten to twenty seconds and become unresponsive. If clicking is attempted you get the spinning beachball of death. If you check the system activity monitor, it can be seen that Firefox is taking up to 100% of the processor time dring this hang. It also says that 'Firefox is not responding'.
After the hang everything goes back to normal.
This is annoying beyond the call of duty. I have started to use Safari and Chrome due to this hanging.
In fact it has just happened while I have been typing this and tried to use the text window scroll bar!
I have gone back to version 6 and it still happens.

I have an ipod touch 4g 32 gb. after a week of use, i noticed that sometimes, after i unlock , the homescreen hangs for about 3-6 seconds.

yes so this hanging issue is not all the time. it happens like almost half the times i unlock.
i tried restoring. initially it was ok. then i downloadded an app from the appstore. after downloading i unlocked my ipod and it hangs.
for sure it will hang at this time.

and its not only the homescreen. its just the whole device. during this hanging time no button will work. the touch interface does not work. nothing. after 5 seconds....everything is back to normal ... it is very very annoying

IQ804 hangs for 3 min 30 seconds every once in a while.

I've been having trouble with my touchsmart IQ804 which I just got. It had windows vista on it and it appeared to freeze a lot. I updated Vista - nada - I did the firmware patch for the hard drive. nada....
I upgraded to Windows 7 - same thing.... then I realized that it seemed to come back if I left it. Then I decided to time it and it appears to be always 3 min 30 seconds that it hangs. And sometimes it freezes altogether. Memory & HDD & CPU checks come out OK.

Change your Virtual Memory settings to 6500 min and 9000 max, delete almost everything that is HP Media. The Touch screen will still work, with the extra virtual memory available and all the crap apps gone that will hang the system, you'll see a big difference. I am on Win7 Home Pro, x64bit. Also a great program I use that did wonders for the hard drive and cleaned up the registry plus gives additional memory optimization is the iobit Advanced System Care program which is a free download at www.iobit.com

I updated firefox to version 11 and lost all my bookmark folders and bookmarks, how do I restore them using timemachine?

I am using Mac OS X Lion. I use Firefox for my research and have numerous bookmarks organized in folders. All the bookmarks disappeared after I upgraded to version 11. I have tried looking for my profile as suggested in the forums and help documents but I cannot find it. I have Time Machine Backups of my entire system. Could someone please tell me which folders and/or files to restore to get my bookmarks back?

Every few minutes firefox hangs for 2 or 3 seconds, why? How do I fix this?

Since 4-5days, Firefox just freeze for a few sec (from 5 to 20 ~ ) without crashing or something. I just can't do a thing for a few sec and everything goes back to normal.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

BTHelpbrowser.exe completely grabs all the CPU and...

When my computer slows or nearly stops - I start Windows Task Manager and see that the process BTHelpbrowser.exe is taking 99%of my CPU and 44,095K of my memory ...WHY ????
I have tried deleting the process - but that doesn't seem to work - the only way is to re-boot ! AAARGHHH !
I can't find anywhere on the BT help website where I can post this question - so it's over to 'the community' to help..Please.

There have been a number of improvements made to our Desktop Help, for instance we now use the Windows OS wireless manager, and we also now use Internet Explorer as our browser with the option of a BT Yahoo toolbar. This does work with windows XP, Vista and Win7 32 bit version. Approximately 2 million people have Desk Top Help installed and it has helped fix a huge number of issues so I think it’s a great piece of kit and well worth an install.

What version of Desk Top Help do you have?
If you’re not quite sure, the best thing to do is remove what you have at the moment with the following instructions:
1. First make sure old Desktop Help is uninstalled (start All Programs->BT Broadband Desktop Help->Uninstall)…check add/remove programs too for any sign.
2. In task manager if you see the following – remove it:
a) BTHelpNotifier.exe
b) McciTrayApp.exe
c) McciServiceHost.exe
3. If you see McciCMService.exe please stop it in services (control Panel ->Administrative Tools->Services)
4. In registry delete the following hives (to start regedit do Start->Run->Regedit):
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Motive
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Motive
Restart the PC
You can then download the latest version of Desktop Help and install it from here

How do i move a catalog to an new hard drive and keep all of the processed info and collections

Ive recently purchased a new external hard drive, and was wondering how to i move the files so that they retain my collections aswell as the processed info.?

When I open my computer and move the DCIM folder to the external drive and then open it it's empty. I've synched my phone and the photos are taking up all the space on my pc and my phone.

During normal operation (fresh install, no plugins) periodically and unpredictably hangs for about 15 seconds before continuing.

Program hangs for a number of seconds before continuing. All operations within the window are arrested.
Attempted reinstall of Firefox 6.0, and also disabled all plugins. Reenabled plugins (shown in info. below). Attempted rebooting.
Problem occurs periodically, at random intervals when browsing, typing, or doing any task.

I assume that it isn't caused by an extension and that it still happens with all extensions disabled?
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

I have tried 'Open with' and the version of the program now installed on my computer isn't even suggested as an option and when I browse for it, the file wont open with it anyway

On Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

since i made some updates recently kdm hangs for 20 or more seconds after entering the password.
I already updated font caches with `fc-cache -fv` but it didn't help.
Where can I start looking?

sorry for bringing this up again...
In the meantime I switched from KDE to MATE Desktop, using LightDM and then sddm as Display Managers. The Problem is still the same: everything is starting and booting fine, it's maybe 15 seconds from pressing the ON switch on my laptop until the Login-Dialog of sddm appears. When I enter my password and hit "Enter" the display manager just waits like 20-30 seconds until somethings happens, and MATE is loaded.
This only happens on my first login, right after boot. When I logout and login again, it just takes some seconds until the desktop is loaded.
I looked into "journalctl", but it does not show anything suspicious. It's just a 20-30 second black hole between entries.
I get the exact same behaviour when I disable the display manager and boot into console login.
Can someone please help me with that?

Upgraded Firefox is hanging. When Firefox opens none of the bookmakrs are available immediately. They hang for a monent. When opening up a window in an application (i.e., email address search) the window hangs.

When opening Firefox, the bookmarks hang for up to 30 seconds before they can be accessed. Also have a hanging issue when opening a window/pop-up within an application (i.e., email search window).

Unless the schedule it's running on is every single time I open Firefox (including closing it & reopening it right away), I don't think that's the case. Also, I don't have any of these issues on the PC I switched back to v3.6 on. That one runs smoothly whether I run Ccleaner, registry optimizers, clear the cache & history or whatever. I thought after you first gave me the answer of deleting the session files that they must've got corrupted during the upgrade, but it seems that v4 just doesn't do a good job of retaining or maintaining those files without getting them corrupt or something.
If this is not an issue with everyone & I'm having it on both my PCs, then v4 has an issue with something that I install on my PCs that, I guess, many others don't although I don't know what that could be and I use everything I install or have running. So, I'm just going back to what works without having to dismantle my config one prog at a time to try to find what v4 may be finicky about.
By the way, I did check & couldn't find any cleaners that run automatically on my PCs.

Exporting edited versions only, and not the original RAW as well...?

Is there a way to export only the processed versions from an project, and not all the un-processed images as well?
Perhaps a check-box in the export versions dialog, would be an idea of doing this?
Or do you guys have another work-around to this problem? Smart albums?

I assume that you want to only export those images that you have applied adjustments to. It is in Aperture 2.1 very easy to create a Smart Album within your Project where you select those adjustments that need to be applied in your filtering or you can just exclude those that doesn't have any adjustments.
Use the option "Any" or "All" and you can even have several filtering lines with the adjustment options in the Smart Album filtering HUD.

Problem with reader version 11.0.2 when it starts up and I open a file, All hangs for 30sec

I am using windows 7 on a 64bit laptop.
When I open a file the sytem hangs for over 30sec saying 'program not responding' the wakens up and works fine till I open another file?

Thanks for your feedback. I have now tried that but does not appear to change the situation noticeably.
I have tried raising priority using a program for managing the 2 memory cores and this appears to improve
things considerably as one might expect but probably only masks the basic problem.
I am assuming that I have added the reader_sl.exe program file to the start-up sequence, since this is
not as straightforward with windows 7 as it was with previous versions.
