Version 7.0.2a38 timeout message?
I had problems with the release version 7.0.2.120 of QT for Windows crashing other programs that use QT. I was advised to download and use version 7.0.2a38 which worked fine.
I have just received a message telling me that this version times out in 14 days. Does anyone know why i have got this message, because I don't want to go back to a version that does not work for me?
What you need to do, is to download the Quicktime 7 free player.
Since all free players are all actually full versions, just crippled in functions by not having entered the registration-name and -key into the register-window of those players.
Entering your latest (version 7) register-key should open up this version to the full pro-version you've paid for.
I've had an extra problem installing the newest 7.0.3 version, which is availabe normally now packed together with "iTunes". There is, too, a standalone-version of the Quicktime-Player 7.0.3 available ... links to that download are listed in some of the latest forum-messages.
My problem with installing newest iTunes and Quicktime over the 7.0.2 and older versions:
I had to make sure, that the old version (7.0.2 or later), was completely removed from my Windows XP. After the deinstallation, i restarted my PC and Windows and executed the new installation-program (something like "itunessetup.exe").
Now the new version 7.0.3 runs without an error.

I am getting a "connection timeout" message when trying to access my Airport Extreme with various laptops, Play Station 3 and Wii. My Airport Extreme is about a month old; it was working fine until about a week ago. Suddenly, the "timeout" is not allowing me to connect to my wireless network.
It could be that there's a new source of interference.

When I try to open video files purchased through iTunes in Quicktime, I get the message: 'Error 23132: an unknown error occurred. This never happened until I updated iTunes, but when I try to go back to the previous version, I still get the message. It is more convenient for me to play videos in Quicktime since iTunes is such a memory hog. Please help.
You may get better results if you switch to this alternate version: iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) and, if needed, reinstall QuickTime. The new (nearly) all 64-bit version doesn't seem to play well with QuickTime. Perhaps if DRM authentication is required QuickTime needs to be able to see something that is part of the older 32-bit code.

When i try to update the software for my 3rd Gen iPod Touch to version 5 i get the message 'This version of iTunes (9.2.1) is the current version'. My Mac OS is 10.4.11. How can I update the iPod software?
The later iOSs requires at least OSX 10.5.8 for the Mac. You need iTunes 10.5 but 10.4.11 only goes to 9.x.. 10.5.8 is a paid upgrade.
Are you sure that you have a 3G iPod? If it is 8 or 16 GB it is a 2G and those can only go to 4.2.1 (also requires 10.5.8 or later). A 32 GB can be either 2G or 3G. To identify yours:

I want to de-install mac-excel test version and get the error message: 'You have not the privileges to de-install. Please login with the Mac-OS account you have installed mac-excel originally'. I don't know this account anymore. Possibly it does not exist anymore. anybody out there who can help ?
Hi, I may suggest to activate the root account and try the uninstall process from that account. To do so, you have to:
Go to System Preferences a open up the Users pane;
On the left side of the pane, you shuold see Login Options;
Enabled editing option clicking on the lock (it will ask your password);
Once the pane is enabled, you should see something like Server Account Network (sorry my OS is in italian, so I don't exactly know the right translation), and right next to it a button;
Click on that button, and a new pane shows up. Click on Open Directory Utility, and on the upper bar of OS X click on Edit;
Select Enable Root Account (you can set a password, or not);
Done that, you should log out and when the login window show up, type on the user field "root" and the password you choose;
Theorically, from this account you will be able to unistall the application.
After completing your task, I reccomend you to disable the root account, just by loggin in your personal account and repeating the steps I described before. Hope it helps -

I want to upgrade the software (currently I have Mac OS X 10.6.4) but when the mac is downloading the new version i get an error message and is not possible get the most updated software: Mac OS X 10.6.8 or either the most recent itunes why?!?!?!
Then you either have a network problem or a hardware problem or a corrupted hard drive. You might try:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
You can also try downloading from another computer on a different network connection. -
Can not get email after updating to 8.1.1! Deleted account and now cannot add as will not verify due to Apple something timeout messages? Any one else having problems?
Hi tania184,
Have you contacted your email provider to make sure there are no problems on their end? If they say their email servers are working properly, check the outgoing and incoming mail servers entries on your iPhone to make sure both are entered correctly. Enter the outgoing mail server even if the account setup indicates that is optional. -

I am able to use my ATT Uverse modem and had a second network going with my apple airport extreme and airport express. Suddenly that network is gone. Probably restarting your router by removing power to it for 30 seconds would have solved your problem.
